Fatburger makes amazing, juicy cheeseburgers. They use fresh beef, no fillers, your choice of cheese, and only the freshest toppings. Their chicken burgers and wings are also top tier. This Fatburger is across the street from the No Frills I regularly shop at, so suffice it to say, I've passed it at least a gazillion times since I moved here. No exaggeration! I rarely eat burgers, so I've not gone in here before, but I occasionally got burgers at Fatburger when I lived in the Seattle area, years ago, and they always were pretty good. So I'm familiar with the brand. Tonight I was going grocery shopping with my kid, and I mentioned that I'd like to pick up dinner somewhere as I've been cooking a lot lately and I wanted to take a break from kitchen work. We tossed around a few ideas (poke? Chinese? Sushi? Tacos?) when, lo! and behold, the Fatburger sign glowed from afar, like the Star of Bethlehem, beckoning. Hamburgers! We both hadn't had burgers in eons; in my case, it had been at least 7 months since I had one and, yeah, that sounded pretty darn good! The parking lot here is wanky and tiny and we decided to walk over after our No Frills shopping. Inside, the restaurant is also small but it's clean, and there are a few wall-mounted tv's showing sports events. My kid and I ordered each a CB Deluxe burger and a small order of fries. OMG we both had forgotten how damn good these Fatburgers are! (We calculated that we last ate Fatburger burgers 9 or 10 years ago, in Seattle). Your burgers were cooked fresh on site, VERY generous portions, SO juicy and delicious, with maple bacon and just the perfect ratio and types of condiments. (My kid is very particular about condiment-to-protein ratios. Don't ask!). Super super good. And the fries! I am not usually a "fries" person. In fact, in years past, whenever we went to Fatburger in the States, I always got their onion rings (which were fantastic). But these fries were amazing: VERY hot, very crispy, not greasy at all, and the small size was actually huge (my kid IS a "fries" person and she said the small size here is the same as a generous medium or even a large order in other places. FYI). I was heartened to see that they still have milkshakes on their menu. We remembered their milkshakes as being fabulous back in the day. I'd imagine they still are. We got our order to take out. Walking home from the train station, I realized that I was starving and have not eaten since this morning. My neighbor introduced me to Fatburger and brought me here for lunch. I had always meant to return. I ordered a strawberry milkshake and cheeseburger with fries. The strawberry milkshake tasted fresh with a real strawberry flavor. The whipcream on top was also fresh and tasted like real whipcream. The fries were good. The fries were crispy and not greasy. The cheese burger was delicious with tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, relish, and cheese. It reminded me of the burgers my Dad made. They tasted homemade and wholesome. I devoured my meal quickly as I was starving. When I was here last time with my neighbor, I remember my meal was also delicious then too. Fatburger is clean. I like the playlist, and the songs were great for a Friday night. The staff are polite. There is a patio with tables and chairs occupied by more diners. Delicious, freshly made burgers. Small but cozy atmosphere. I do wish, though, that it wasn't called FATBURGER - which I find thoroughly off-putting. This time, we went big. And I mean BIG. I went for the 1/2 lb Kingburger and my buddy chose the double king. Yeap! That means two 1/2 lb patties, making it a full 1 lb burger. And oooooh, when you include the onion ring, which is free, it sure stacks up, especially when the staff played with my friend by giving him two onion rings piled up over the two patties, cheese, lettuce, and tomato, you get a 6 inch tall burger. What a sight! The best part? Why...the burger itself, of course. Soooo juicy. Soooo beefy. I like mine with double BBQ sauce. So between that and the oil from the burger, the juicy burger is absolutely succulent. The best thing about eating at Fatburger is nobody cares how messy you get. Service was prompt and friendly without the common overdoing it some other places struggle with. One look at the menu and it was clear that there were several winners. We settled for the Mushroom Swiss and California burgers and after a short wait we were enjoying some of the best burgers around. Very pleased to be sharing our experience. Great burgers but certainly not your typical fast food joint. Burgers are made to order, when ordered so your burger is freshly cooked. You will have to wait for it, it's not too long but it's worth the wait. The fries are always hot, no need to ask for fresh cooked because they are when placed in your bag or on the tray if you are eating in. I went here after work and was treated poorly in the beginning but I waited for the food anyway. I'm glad I didn't give this location a good tip because The cashier yelled "bad tip to the back as I walked to the outside where we await our food. Very disapointing. Who knows what that means right? At home the burger dripped with what looked like tonnes of water just picking it up and tasted liked it too with grease mixed in. And the box of wings was mashed in completly. I know, it's a chain. But it's a GOOD chain, at least, I have no complaints. (I won't even bother to think about reviewing most of the other "fast food" burger chains, so you know this had to be pretty good for me to write about it). I've eaten at two different Fatburgers - one on West Broadway in Vancouver, one in Ladner - and I went away happy-happy-happy both times. At West Broadway, I opted for the double cheeseburger with onion rings. I practically inhaled it - it was juicy, thick, tasty - the rings were pretty darn good, too. For a drink, I sucked down one of their Mocha-Java shakes. Yummy! It was really thick. Was it as good as a "real" milkshake made in the old-fashioned steel mixing cups? Nah...but it was still pretty good. In Ladner, I picked the "build your own burger" option. I "built" a Mexi-burger, with guacamole, chili and pepperjack cheese. Better still! Since the rings didn't disappoint the previous time, they were heaped in my basket once again. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This time, I washed it down with an ice cold Corona. (Hey, I was doing Mexican, right?) This time, the Divine Ms. K. accompanied me, and she chose the chicken sandwich. She said it was "okay" but she didn't rave about it. That doesn't affect my ultimate rating though, because I figure if you go to a hamburger joint, you should probably order burgers. If you choose anything else, it's at your own peril. Came with a groupon and honestly, i don't find these burgers much different than any others. I am not a HUGE fan so might not be the best judge either but it tasted standard. Being a deal, it was a good price but I wouldn't return all the way to this location just to satisfy a burger craving. It's summer time, I crave a juicy burger with all the works. So I checked out my local Fatburger just opened not long ago. I ordered a single combo which comes fries and refillable drinks. I like the made to order burger and the no seed burger is the way I like it. Burger was juicy and the fries was made fresh and a refreshing drink of your choice to wash it all down. Baby Fat burger is enough for me. I like that the buns and all the toppings are the same, and only the patty is thinner. The fries are good. Thickness is close to Wendy's, but way more crispy and flavourful. I got the chili cheese fries this time, which were good but I think I like them by themselves better. Gravy available too. The lemonade was a bit too sweet, but one of the other choices was soda water. Nice. They make everything fresh, so you have to wait a bit. If you are eating, in, they will give you a number on a stand and will bring you your food. I hate giving a bad review, I can't think of anything positive to say about this place. Parking/location: There's a small lot in the front, located down Broadway in a sketchy area Ambiance: Felt cramped. Tables were very close together and not much space to walk. It was old, vinyl was cracked, and dirty. It smelled bad, like the placed hadn't had a shower in a long time. There were "funny" posters and signs, one referring to a swear word. I'm probably more sensitive than most because I have a kid, but this place seems more crass than the Fatburgers I've been to in the US. The music that was playing reflected that crassness. I was desperately hoping my son wasn't listening to the lyrics that were playing. Food: The fries tasted undercooked - there was a slight raw taste to them. The burgers were okay (we got the cheeseburger fat burger), nothing special, but there were a ton of pickles in them in addition to relish and it was just too sour for me. Hamburger BLISS!!! Maybe a few others here have been disappointed by their Fatburger experience, but not this kid! I WAS expecting to be disappointed, so I guess the only thing I was disappointed by was the lack of disappointment by Fatburger. The burger was ever thing I would have wanted a burger to be, and is how I remember them being before every corner of every city was taken over by Micky D's, Burger King, DQ, and so on. I had a chocolate caramel swirl shake with my fries (the fries were NOT salty, which scores points with me big time). The shake was just like I remember them from 40 years ago, before they all became generic. LOVED THE SHAKE! It WAS pricy, as others have pointed out, but If one just goes for a burger and fries (the serving of REAL french fries - not the previously frozen kind -was huge), and I do believe that I got my money's worth. I'll be back, but not very often, as I want it to be just an occasional treat. This will be difficult, as the guy at the West Broadway location tells me that they are building a new Fatburger near King Edward and Lougheed, which is close and convenient for me (finally!). I guess it's partly in what you want a burger joint to be. For me, this is pretty much what I want a 'burger joint' to be. Could use a bigger parking lot, but it's not like that's going to happen here. I'll try the poutine next time. My husband bought a groupon for Fatburger ($8 for $16 worth of food), so we decided to check it out when we were in the area. Before I went to Fatburger, I had nothing but awful stereotypes in my head. Why else would you go to a place called Fatburger unless you wanted a 1200+ calorie filled grease monstrosity? In fact, this stereotype is the reason I never went, until a few days ago. The restaurant is really small, for starters. There's only 3 or 4 parking spaces in front for customers in a sea of reserved parking spots. We had to park over a block away in order to go here. This wouldn't be an issue if you took public transit, but with a car it's a bit of a headache. It's also a bit inconvenient that the menu board and cash register are located right in the entrance, because people have to constantly shove by those waiting in line to get pop/grab seats/get condiments/etc. There's a decent amount of counter seating and tables inside given the size of the restaurant, but we opted to sit on the roomier patio. I guess you can't change the size of the space you're given, but I felt awful that I was in everyone's way. Unlike my stereotype, Fatburger actually has a few healthier options on the menu. I opted for the grilled chicken burger with the works. They also have turkey burgers if chicken isn't your forte. I ordered the burger as a combo with fries and a diet coke. The burger was surprisingly very delicious. It wasn't greasy, and there was just the right amount of toppings. Unlike my husband's burger, they didn't wrap my burger with a secondary wrapper to keep all of the toppings in, so a lot of them fell out. They should do the wrapping for all burgers ordered, not just the hamburgers. The french fries on the other hand are crispy and also not greasy. They reminded me of the well done french fries at In-and-Out burger in California. Minus space issues, the one thing that keeps me from recommending Fatburger is the price point. For two burger combos, the total cost was $26, including tax. Now, we had the groupon, so we actually only paid $18. While it was a great meal, I feel $13 is overpriced for a take-out burger and fries. The last great hamburger stand? I think not. Had the California and Mushroom Swiss. Both meh and missing some major flavour. Real legit quality beef does not taste like that. Toppings are unexciting, even though these are specialty "gourmet" burgers. The Groupon deal made it an okay value, definitely would not have paid full price. I have decided to upgrade my rating for this location for a few reasons. First, the quality of food really is great. Fresh (not frozen), well-seasoned patties, meticulous dressing and presentation of the burgers, delicious and perfectly crispy fries, rich and delicious shakes. Plus rotating specials and customisable burger topping choices. Second, the service. The staff at this location are some of the hardest working and attentive people I've ever come across in any restaurant. These people really care about their jobs and making sure their customers are satisfied. They're fast, efficient, friendly, and fun! And they keep the restaurant impeccably clean and organised. And finally, the consistency. The Fatburger locations I've been to in Vancouver are all extremely consistent in the things I've mentioned above. It is for these reasons that I think the higher-than-other-fast-food prices are worth it. The location, however, still sucks, the parking still sucks, and the seating options are not that great. If not for these things, this Fatburger would have 5 stars from me for sure. read more

I've decided I don't like the hamburgers at this place. It's not that they're bad, they're just not special and thus not worth the price. However, their Southern Fried Chicken burger is excellent. Crunchy, juicy and cooked fresh. It has just the right amount of toppings so it wasn't an awful mess to eat. I had yam fries with my meal and I found them to be decent enough. They didn't feel greasy and were nice and crispy. Parking is kind of meh here with only 4 spots and they have very little seating capacity. Tried the chicken tenders. Usually skip these in favour of burgers, but Fatburger's tenders weren't dry at all, nice and moist despite being white meat. A pleasant surprise. Also a pleasant surprise was the service, extremely courteous, cheerful, and helpful for a fast food place. A nice touch. Will return when I'm nearby. It tasted like it had come off of a bbq. I didn't want to bastardize it too much, so I only added some cheddar cheese, so I could really taste the burger meat. I went to Fatburger for a little Sunday grease after a Saturday night out. I actually enjoy it. Maybe because personally I don't like my patties to be too big, nor the burger too big to fit in my mouth at these specialty burger joints. (Vera's, Splits, Modern Burger). Of course the burger is freshly made, and my topping were also fresh. The spices were not overpowering, and they did not load it up with too much salt. I hate restaurants that use too much salt to boost up taste. Why else do I prefer Fatburger? 1) The little TV's to keep you entertained while you eat. (but i think it was designed for little kids as a cartoon was showing when I was there). 2) Complimentary newspaper to read, (and its pages are not greased up from the previous reader). 3) How they wrap your burger (think donair style) so the toppings don't slip out at the bottom when you bite into it. Also, I appreciate their exta industrial strength hood vents and air circulation. Any burger spot that makes fresh burgers usually have a lot of grease and scent in the air (if you barbeque a lot, you'll know what i mean) - but here I didn't walk out smelling like a burger. |n addition, they claim to use the leanest beaf and they also have veggie burgers, turkey burgers for the non-converted. Pretty mediocre. I haven't had any of the lauded meals from the burger joints down south like In N Out and White Castle, but came across Fatburger via SkipTheDishes. I decided it was time to try at least one from the trinity. But honestly, it wasn't that great. Dairy Queen and A&W are better by miles. You pay so much more for Fatburger but get an inferior product. Don't get me wrong: The burger and fries were okay. But that's all they were. Just okay. At $16 for a combo, you should get more than "just okay". Hell, I can get 3 burgers from another fast food joint for the same price and they'd taste better even after sitting in my fridge for over a day. Not worth the price of admission.
