Pretty mediocre. I haven't had any of the lauded meals from the burger joints down south like In N Out and White Castle, but came across Fatburger via SkipTheDishes. I decided it was time to try at least one from the trinity. But honestly, it wasn't that great. Dairy Queen and A&W are better by miles. You pay so much more for Fatburger but get an inferior product. Don't get me wrong: The burger and fries were okay. But that's all they were. Just okay. At $16 for a combo, you should get more than "just okay". Hell, I can get 3 burgers from another fast food joint for the same price and they'd taste better even after sitting in my fridge for over a day. Not worth the price of admission. Again: Product is okay. Price is not. If you aren't concerned about cost, Fatburger won't really disappoint you. It also won't impress you. It's just a burger. Ok after driving or walking by this Fatburger and the one down in English Bay so many times I finally decided I wanted to try it. Honestly, mostly because of the name. I just wanted to eat at a place called "Fatburger", haha. So I recently decided to try the one on Broadway out for lunch. I went again a little while after that as well. The first time I had a limited time special that had for a pulled pork burger/sandwich. I went back again to try the basic original burger. Well, the burgers are not bad, pretty good for sure compared to the usual fast food joints (McD, BK, etc). However, it's too pricey. It's like 14-15 dollars for a combo! Vera's and Moderne Burger are better burgers so those will be my future choices. I will say that both times the staff were super friendly for sure. I liked that. One thing I really enjoy is a good burger. Fatburger is a place that serves up just that. Big ol' juicy burgers, crispy fries, and shakes all made to order and tasty to boot! Located on Broadway just off Alberta street, this Fatburger location is much different that the name would lead on, as it's pretty tiny with only 3 or 4 tables and several bar stools at a large ledge. Think almost truck stop-esque in appearance. So, you can find a place to sit, but I would recommend you take your order to go due to the lack of space. Fatburger offers a large array of burgers which they describe as small (a single 2.5 ounce patty) all the way up to XXXL (three patties of 24 ounces total of beef). If beef isn't your thing, but you want a burger, you can also get chicken, turkey or veggie burgers. If burgers aren't your thing, you can also get hotdogs and chicken strips. One thing that makes the burgers so great are the toppings. At Fatburger you can get all the traditional condiments as well as awesome extras such as guacamole, a fried egg, chilli, grilled mushrooms and onions. If you haven't had a fried egg on your burger before, I highly recommend you try it. Every time I've gone I've stayed the course and ordered a beef burger, while my companions have ordered beef burgers, chicken burgers and hot dogs. All the different burgers with all the different combinations of toppings have always been great! Incredibly juicy and flavourful! The big things that prevent Fatburger from getting a 5 star rating is the price and speed. Since the burgers are made to order, you do have to wait to have your order made. This is great, since you know you'll have a fresh, hot burger. However, when the store gets backed up from a lot of orders (which can happen pretty easily), it can take quite a while to get your order. Additionally, the cost is a bit much for a burger place. Now, it is a good, almost "premium" burger they are selling, but, for two burgers, two small fries and two drinks, it will cost around $28 with tax. To me this is a bit much for a "fast food" like store. Overall, Fatburger provides a tasty burger that should be tried if you're a burger lover... at least once. read more

Fatburger "The Last Great Hamburger Stand!". Really? The name suggests that it would be delicious. Mouth watering. Was it? The patty are decent but definitely does not live up to the Best Burger around. I beg to differ. In fact I find my Whopper Wednesday's to be exceptional also. With that in mind, Fatburger's burgers were juicy. There was even a selection of sizes from Small Fatburger 2.5 oz to XXL Fat Burger 24 oz. The burger stand is quint and offered limited seating and limited parking spaces for that matter. There are other locations in Downtown and even Coquitlam if you are a fan. The decor is old school and somewhat California and I was hoping for some roller-skates (yes! skates not blades). The fries are crispy and wasn't too greasy. $26 for two burger combos was rather steep and if I were to pay that much for a burger I might as well go to a sit down restaurant. LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! My boyfriend lives in Vancouver and myself in New York. He took me here for the first time last year. I fell in love. Now every time I go to Vancouver we HAVE to come to Fatburger or I am not pleased. I get the California veggie burger and we share and order of fries. The veggie burgers are amazing which I find a lot of times they are dry. But not here. The guacamole and egg on the burger are amazing. It's so huge I always feel like I'm about to explode when I leave. My boyfriend and I get a basket of fries to share and we never end up finishing it. The fries are cooked to perfection. The milkshakes are bomb! Chocolate all day. Give it a try! I always get the Granville island beer that is on tap. I love that beer and it wish I could find it in the states on the east coast. Also,!a burger place that serves alcohol?! Very rare where I live. So awesome. He recently took me to Vera's for a change. It did not match up as well. They recently got a veggie burger on their menu and it is no competition. The veggie burger tasted weird and had an odd texture. I had them build my burger the same way as a California from Fatburger and it was not at all the same. Fatburger is officially my favorite burger place. They need to open one up in NY!!! I gave this 5 stars not only because of the amazing food but the staff is always friendly and talkative. They know the menu pretty well and are always ready to make suggestions. The bathrooms are clean which is a big one for me. The restaurant is always clean. The prices are super affordable and the amount of food you get is ridiculous. Over all, I love this place and I suggest getting the California veggie burger. Or just the regular California burger if you're a meat eater :) read more

Fatburger... Its catchy name is about the only good thing going for this place. As others may have said, this is NOT comparable to its US counterpart. Such a shame too. The last burger I had disappointed yet again. I just grabbed an original fatburger with the normal fixin's and it came back to me looking worse than a BK Whopper. The only thing they did get right with my order were the Fries. The price for such a burger is also painful. I'd rather go to 5 guys which I might add is a wonderful alternative, or cough up 10 more dollars and get a true gourmet burger at DB Moderne Bistro. I have just left the final 1/3 of my burger on my plate and on its way to the compost bin after pulling out 3 or 4 pieces of what felt like rubber out of my mouth every bite. What kind of meat are these people grinding up into their patties? Are they including bone and every piece of cartilage, as well? Am I the only one who has experienced this? I have been eating burgers my whole life, and haven't experienced anything like this anywhere else. I know you will get the odd one in any burger once in a while, but it's rare and doesn't usually spoil the burger eating experience; but I'm telling you, some of those chunks were nearly a centimetre across and I would guess there to be around 20 in the one patty I had here. Most of their other items that I've tried seem to be really good and first-rate like their chicken strips, cajun chicken burger, and milkshakes, but after experiencing trying to eat their low-quality beef and pulling stuff out of my mouth again and again, I'm sure I will not be ordering any more beef burgers from Fatburger. read more

Seeing John C.'s review just reminded me I forgot to post about this rip off of a place too. I am still mad I paid $14 for a mediocre burger combo! For that price I could have a got a seriously good lunch elsewhere. I am still stewing about this even though I ate there 2 weeks ago now! The restaurant was clean including the bathrooms. Servers were nice and friendly. We sat on the patio and they had the heat lamps blowing at full force on a beautifully warm day. Burger was good but certainly nothing special. They say you are what you eat, so you can imagine my internal thought process at eating somewhere called 'Fat Burger'. I got over it, needs must. I don't know the burger mafia legacy that accompanies these north American chains so I'll have to review it on my own opinions alone and not lore.* Since I was sick I decided against the beef and went for the Thursday combo chicken burger. Though at $15, I am not entirely sure where the savings come in. I added cheese, because, well how can you not? And that may have been one of the better life decisions I've ever made. Cheese elevated this mere chicken burger to the deliciousness that Fat suggests. Using real chicken breast is a nice touch, tasted fresh and appealing. The fries were fairly pedestrian. Meh. I so wish i had gotten a chocolate shake, but i had to maintain some semblance of control. Service was fine, the restaurant is clean and pleasant to sit in. Fatburger is one of the better burger places in Vancouver. Compared to Five Guys, I would say their burgers are juicier but Five Guys have better fries. There's no Shake Shack or In-n-Out Burgers in Vancouver so Fat Burger is probably the closest thing you'll find here that is a higher quality fast food burger. We ate there tonight. Got lucky and it was empty. Good service. Food for 2 plated and served fresh and hot in less than 10 min. I thought maybe this happened because it was empty, but it got busy after my food came and they kept up like a swat team. Good burgers and shakes. I think the keyword here is consistency. If you go there you can legitimately expect to receive a good hot, fresh burger. Maybe not the best ever but definitely satisfying. read more

a friend has been HASSLING me to give this joint a chance. he claims they have the BEST burgers in town... so i finally caved in tonight and took a chance to see what the hype was all about. was quite happy to see that they had a turkey burger option! so i snagged that in a combo. was even more impressed that even without me asking, they had put the patty sandwiched between 2 whole wheat buns! (no, im not supposed to be eating whole wheat either..aw well.) the fries were good (but i still think wendy's fries are the best)... and the burger wasn't bad either. but i wasn't thoroughly impressed...so seriously, i dont see what all the hype is about this place. the turkey pattie wasn't very flavourful...maybe its because i didn't have any sauce in it except for the pickle, cheese, lettuce and tomato..? i watched my friend devour a double fatburger thing..or whatever its called...basically two big frickin patties in one burger..oh, his poor poor arteries...(he still thinks this place is the cats meow...oh well, to each their own). read more

The original fatburger was average and the Cajun cheddar chicken burger was just ok. The fries were good and the cinnamon donuts were tasty if a bit oily. Noticed this place so many times before going in today. The space is very small with only about 4 small tables and some bar seating. This is just another burger place - exactly as billed. read more

So I have never eaten at Fatburger, so I thought I would try it with my nieces here. I ordered through SkiptheDishes. My grilled chicken burger, which I paid to add cheddar cheese to, had no cheddar. The kids grilled cheese on the online order went through as kids cheeseburger(kid doesn't eat meat) and the honey mustard sauce wasn't in the other kids meal, just dry fingers and a ketchup. First off a little background. I am a burger fanatic, have been called a burger connoisseur by some. I like to think of myself as a burger purist. If you have to hide your burger under truffles and arugula or some other cheffy nonsense your burger probably sucks. Give me a straight up burger with Ketchup Mayo and Lettuce any day. (I occasionally switch it up and throw a tomato or some grilled onions on there too) Even though people constantly reminding me how unhealthy it is, I eat a burger every day. Sometimes twice a day. I will travel great distances (I have driven over an hour a few times and many times have walked 2- 5k) to try burgers people recommend. I know.....you are thinking "this guy is a fool!" but that is how much I love burgers. New to Vancouver and on my usual quest to find the best burger spot in town. Was pleasantly surprised to find a Fatburger a few minutes walk from our place. Have been in 8 out of the last 10 days because it is convenient for me. They have a frequent burger card Buy 6 and the 7th is free. I had my first free burger (of what will likely be many) yesterday on day 9. Not free like you have to pay the taxes "free" ... I mean order the burger and walk out without paying anything free. For someone like me this is a definite plus. Service is fast and friendly (mostly) 6 to 8 minutes on average so far. even when they are relatively busy. Tried the Kingburger Supreme, the original Fatburger, and the Classic with no bacon. All made reasonably fast without sacrificing the quality. I especially like the 8 oz King. Juicy, but not overly greasy. Nice fresh fluffy sesame seed white bun. and a nice chunck of hand cut lettuce. A premium quality burger at a premium price, 8.99 + tax. The 6 oz Fatburger is a bit more reasonable at 6.99 + tax. The fries are ok, not bad but nothing special. The seating inside is kinda cramped, but there are a few tables outside. Also parking is very limited. looks like 4 spots but there is street parking on Alberta. All in all a solid 4 outta 5 stars. They lost the last star because after seeing someone in your shop 8 out of 9 days they really should know my name by now. Poutine n a drink for $5 on wed right now...while I'm not a burger nut like my hubby I did enjoy the fries here. You can see the cook putting the burger together right after you order (nothing hidden here it's all viewable thru plexiglass) I'm told the burgers are fresh, juicy and very filling. If you're looking for quality this is the place to stop. Forget the big name national burger joints and give this place a try. read more

I'm still in shock that a cheeseburger, fries, and coke came out to 15 bucks. WTH. I was determined to try this place, but now I'm determined to go back only for milkshakes. (They have banana milkshakes, which I would have got this time but lordy that woulda made my bill like 20 bucks). For 15 bucks for a meal, I prefer a place where I can put my feet on the ground while I'm dining (spacing is limited... leaving you with having to choose bar style seats). Service was lovely for what is essentially fast food, but I really left wishing I'd gone to Wendy's instead since the food was nothing special. I have heard many good things about fatburger, so my employees and I decided to order from there for lunch. Though I understand it was through Skip the dishes, our meal was 45 minutes and the food was atrocious. Not one of us ate the fries or onion rings, they were complete mush. Our burgers were smushed so badly it was almost uneatable. We spent a total of $200.00 on this order and we barley ate any of it. And to add more insult to injury, we ordered the mini donuts and they were rock hard. To complete this review, I will never again eat fatburger. read more

My favourite little fast but tasty eating joint when I dont have time to cook and need some really good meat. After eating burgers in Alberta people may not want to look here in BC but I love this place as you can watch them prepare your food (it looks and IS really fresh) which always makes me feel better - and they even smile and chat to you like you are regular - very friendly ladies there who seem to like their work. Have loyalty cards which I love - (am on to my second one now) the tag line says "buy 6 burgers or sandwiches and get one free - everyone needs a goal in live". Keep up the great work! read more

Love their mushroom swiss burger that I keep going back for. The very generous stack of mushrooms are cooked on the grill in front of you along with a flavourful patty. I did try their chicken tenders once but didn't like them at all, too much hard, greasy batter for me but their specialty is really the burgers. You can take out or eat in. There is some seating outside (not sure if this is seasonal) and there is a little seating inside in a very diner-like setting. They only have a few parking spots on the lot or there is a lot of pay parking on the street. They aren't open late, but the staff is super nice, very friendly, and in all the times I've gone, they have never screwed up an order once! Definitely recommend trying one of their burgers. read more

Great value when dining with coupon/voucher deals. There aren't that many groumet burger joints in the lower mainland and Fatburger is one of the few that really stand out. I like the open kitchen layout and you can literally watch them assemble your burger in front of you. Very limited seating when they're busy and they do get busy. I'd recommend it for those cheat-days where you just have to have a burger and a good one at that. read more
