I tried the bulgogi burrito and Korean poutine, and I really liked the mix of Korean flavors with the more casual taco-style menu. Everything was tasty, but watch out for the staining spicy sauce. The tacos could get quite messy, I'd recommend eating the fallen fillings with a fork. Korean-Mexican fusion. The menu is mostly tacos, burritos, and the like with Korean flavours. They have beer too which kind of surprised me - Asahi on draft and some bottles. It's right next to Rogers Arena and Stadium-Chinatown Station, so expect lots of business on event nights. It wasn't too crowded on the night that I came, but I've passed by a few times and seen it full on weekend evenings. It's small so there's not much ambiance, but the staff were friendly. I got the vegetable burrito bowl. It was good but I sort of felt like there was no unifying element to it at first, but when I thoroughly mixed everything together to get the sauce distributed, that made it much better. After mixing it was pretty tasty, but a little heavy on the sauce. FYI the "marinated fried tofu" in the veg bowl is inari, not block tofu. I also got a glass of Asahi, which was nice - it's Asahi. This place is literally right outside of the stadium chinatown exit after you go down the stairs and exit after you scan your card pass the gate. Oh and it's right by costco too. I tried the Busan Taco which had deep fried prawn and a nice blend of different taste notes. Some tangy sweetness from the pickles sprinkled on top and i think there was a bit of honey too? 5/5 for me! My family and I had a few days in Vancouver last week while on vacation and I saw Tako on Yelp and had to stop in! The restaurant is small inside, clean, and the service was friendly and quick. The only downside is that the restaurant is downtown and you have to pay for parking and be sure you return in time because tow trucks are always patrolling the streets. Between the bulgogi poutine and the outrageously delicious looking burritos this place is awesome. We even bought my husband's aunt and uncle who are not the most adventurous eaters and they got a crispy chicken bowl that they loved! My husband and I split the sour cream dusted cheese balls, the bulgogi poutine, and a bulgogi burrito. The cheese balls were a creamy, cheesy, and zesty treat. The bulgogi poutine was by far my favorite. From the crispy, hot fries to the savory, umami beef, to the variety of sweet and savory toppings it hit the spot! Have seen a few stores that have done the Korean/Mexican fusion idea, but none in Vancouver that execute as well as TAKO. Nestled right by the south western entrance of Stadium Chinatown Skytrain Station, this place is great option for takeout on the way over to a meeting or on the way home. The bulgogi burrito is a nice balance of all the delicious Korean meats in flavours packed into a burrito (everything from kimchi, corn, lettuce, cheese + the meat of your choice). For $12 they are packing a lot into this meal and I was pretty content after one of these burritos I got to-go. Happy hour is 2-5pm from Monday to Friday, so if you're curious, you can try them out between these hours. They need to definitely think about adding kimchi fries for a perfect combo! Overall, great place for takeout due to close proximity to the Skytrain. Can't comment on the indoor dining experience but can say it's very convenient to pack while commuting -- no utensils required! read more

TAKO stands for "Taqueria Koreano" -- and it's as advertised: tacos and burritos with Korean ingredients, along with an assortment of other options (e.g. bibimbap, poutine with a Korean flair, and what I think may be Korean-style fried chicken). We ordered: - Gangnam taco (bbq short rib) - Busan taco (deep fried shrimp) - Bibimbap The ingredients (especially the vegetables) were noticeably fresh and high quality. We just could have used more of it. We simply didn't get enough food. That may not trouble some people; just order more. But for us, value matters, and we can do better elsewhere at the same price point. Possible exception: They have a happy hour 2-5p on weekdays which could reduce the prices enough to make it worthwhile. We might give it a chance if we're in the area again. For one, the interior was nicely lit and offered a good selection of seating. The menu and decoration of the place was simple and cute. We got a small order of the spicy Seoul Chicken to share among two for a quick lunch bite! Decided to get some bulgogi poutine, bulgogi mandu, and the soy rice cake skewers. They offer a variety of things (burritos, rice bowls, quesadillas, tacos, etc.) -- all at affordable prices. My friends and I got a BBQ Short Rib Burrito ($9.50), Bulgogi Burrito ($9.50), and Kimchi Quesadilla ($8.95). The BBQ Short Rib Burrito was by far my favorite. The tortilla was perfectly crisp on the outside, the meat was marinated perfectly, and the rice was flavorful with just the right amount of sauce. You pay at the counter and then take a seat. They have limited bar seating inside and a few chairs outside. There are also a couple TVs. It's hard to find good Asian fusion done right. TAKO knows! read more

Tasty enough, expensive for what you get. It's true that the burritos, tacos, etc are relatively unique, but for the $10-12 price tag per burrito, you can usually expect a larger, more filling portion size, or else for portions this small, they should be exceptionally tasty (of which, Tako falls a bit short). And the burritos are probably the better deal compared to 2-3 tacos at the same price. Tako is more a novelty item than a staple. While searching for a unique lunch spot in Vancouver, TAKO definitely stood out from the rest. The tacos looked great, but I was dying to try the spicy rice cake skewers in particular, since they're a very nostalgic street food from my childhood that I never get to have outside of Korea. We weren't too hungry due to our heavy breakfast before our drive up, so we shared the following: jeju (spicy pork belly) taco, gangnam (BBQ short rib) taco, small spicy seoul chicken & spicy rice cake skewers. Everything was absolutely DELICIOUS, and the spicy rice skewer was exactly like the ones I used to eat as a kid from street food vendors in Korea. Both tacos represented Korean meat marinade flavor as well as taco fixings perfectly, and the only criticism I have about the spicy seoul chicken is that there wasn't an endless pile of it. TAKO is what I'd call a perfect demonstration of fusion. Neither cuisine is watered down, and instead, ingredients and flavor profiles of both sides are represented in their unapologetically authentic form. Conveniently located right outside the skytrain station and across from Rogers arena, it's a great place to stop by for a meal before a show. I stopped by before a concert and it was busy! Most seats were taken and there was a line to order. I decided to get my food to go and eat at International village. I had the bbq short rib burrito. I was expecting the burrito to go to be wrapped up. But it was cut in half and put into a container and covered with foil. Not the easiest to eat if you're on the go, but they also put a few tortilla chips inside the box. I found the burrito to be on the slightly smaller side. There was however a good amount of short rib. It was tender and flavourful. The kimchi fried rice was a bit of a disappointment. It felt more like plain rice was put directly in the burrito and then kimchi/sauce put on top of the rice. It would have been more flavourful if it was mixed in before being put into the burrito, so that it could absorb more kimchi flavour. Other than that, it was still a pretty good burrito. It was crunchy, sweet, and all sorts of great flavors. But at the same time, I'm not use to the small portions of meat in tacos. I felt like there were a lot of vegetables found in typical Korean dishes or tacos like green onion, sesame, pickled turnips, lettuce, and tomatoes, but they didn't click well together with the pork belly. Stumbled upon this gem while we were waiting for the game at Rogers Arena, and it was the perfect way to start the night. Fusion foods are all the rage now, and TAKO doesn't disappoint with the Korean/Mexican fusion foods they offer here.
