This place went downhill since my last visit. The host was standing at the entrance but he was so awkward that we weren't sure if he worked there. His demeanor was standoffish but he led us to our table on the patio. I normally like their patio as it's spacious and decorated with flowers, but this time the experience wasn't great. Being in a bad area, there was a mentally ill man across the street who kept screaming out in pain. Also I watched the host awkwardly try to give free chips and salsa to everyone who walked by and he kept getting rejected so I said "I'll take a bag" and he replied "no cause you're already dining here." So I'm not as worthy because I'm a paying customer?! Got it, we won't be back. The food is not bad but the portions are small. We came for Taco Tuesday and each taco is $3.50. You need to order a lot of tacos to get full. We also ordered the enchiladas, which came with rice and beans. There's so many better Mexican restaurants in the area, I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

Food is decent, drinks are meh, service is terrible We went here for a friend's birthday so large group aka 18% mandatory gratuity, but service falls way short of them deserving such an amount. Party was nice to catch up with friends, but the servers really need to step up their game to deserve this type of gratuity. We got the tortilla soup for something light since we weren't too hungry, and they were able to accommodate since it was in the regular menu but not stated in the large group menu. The soup was hearty and delicious. It hits the spot. But $16 for the soup (they didn't even ask us the size, we would've gone a smaller size) is quite a rip off. Large group menu has dishes that were too filling and frankly overpriced. Dishes were $20-32+ and consistently pricier than other Mexican restaurants I've been here. We also got a bulldog margarita. This one was good but we also sampled our friends' margaritas and I could taste a powder texture - feels like their flavoring is powder form not actual fruit. Cutting corners for a higher than average priced cocktail. Service here is the definition of what deserves a 0% tip. We specifically wanted a tamarind bulldog margarita and they put the order through. We got a regular iced margarita instead. I flagged it and the server kept gaslighting me saying the regular was what she ordered and they never said they could make it tamarind to begin with, until after 5 min of back and forth the server admitted and remade the drink. There's no need to be stubborn and try to fake being right and refuse to do something that was originally communicated. Especially if they do 18% mandatory gratuity. Then they just slapped the drink on the table without saying anything - very rude Second, it took 20+ min to get the check. Most of the meal we barely saw the servers. When they do, they only focused on taking more food orders. Sure they would do that to squeeze more money. But at least do the requests in order. There are many options in the area so I wouldn't recommend this, since food was decent but overpriced while putting up with some of the worst service. read more

We had a blast! Threw our pals birthday at La Casita and everyone invited totally loved it. If you get seated at the bar, I hope you're not ignored like me and my partner was. Came to eat and have a couple drinks, we wanted to experience Mexican food in Canada. Upon sitting down, my water glass was filled only once at my request. To be sitting at a tiny bar where there's a bartender making drinks constantly Nd you're seated directly in front if him, you'd think your water glass would be filled constantly if emptied. Nope! The food was mediocre. The "large" chimichanga is what I ordered. I can't imagine what the regular sized chimichanga would've looked like. It was flavorful but I couldn't help to think that the ingredients were like a puree. The insides were so very soft. No chunks of chicken but almost if it was puree. Best description I could give. Service is very slow. Again, had to ask for refills, had to ask for the check. If the food had taken any longer to be prepared, I would've asked time estimation for that too. read more

It was taco tuesday so my friends and I tried La Casita's taco deal. Each taco was $3.50 each and 16 oz. local draft were $4. I ordered a 16 oz. pale ale beer and 3 tacos. I got Carnita/braised pork, beef, and fish tacos. Our meal came with a complimentary plate of nachos with guacamole and spicy salsa dipping sauce. It wasn't bad at all, though the nachos were a bit stale. When the tacos arrived, they were a little smaller than I expected. But the taco fillings inside appeared to be well seasoned and well garnished with the meats. - fish taco was definitely fishy and sort of salty. The sauce that came with the fish didn't really add to the flavor. - beef taco was alright, it didn't really stand out in any way. It comes with mixed peppers and green onions. - carnita/braised pork shoulder taco was my favorite out of the 3 tacos i ordered. It was pretty tasty and well seasoned that upped the flavor. - pale ale beer went well with the meal. The place has typical mexican restaurant decor. It's a little darker than i'd like though. The walls are adorned with many typical mexican memorabilia. There were Luchador masks, interesting looking pinatas on the ceilings, tropical trees, and black and white mexican vintage tv shows. They played mariachi mexican folk music in the background. When it was time to ask for the bill, they were slow in getting back to us. We asked our server and it took them at least 10 minutes to get back to us. We had to ask again for it. It wasn't even that busy with only 3 or 4 tables being occupied at the time. Overall, the tacos were alright. Wish they were bigger. If I come again next time, I'll try their other tacos. They have a whopping 8 different tacos on the taco tuesday menu to choose from. Not bad if you're in the mood for some tacos on a tuesday! It's worth a try at least once. 3 out of 5 stars.-- read more

On a special evening, my wife and I went to this restaurant for dinner. The server was friendly and we started with Chips Salsa and Gauc with a Margarita and a Pina Colada. While the appetizer and Pina Colada were good, Margarita was so-so. It was a double Margarita and was not filled 100% and was not very strong. We ordered a Veggie Fajita for main course and it took 40 mins to come. When we asked them why the delay, we were told that there is a larger party downstairs that needs to be taken care of. We ordered fajita without the mushroom and when we got the food after 40 mins, we could only see big chunks of mushrooms in the vegetables. The rice was bland. No option of corn tortilla. The manager told us that veggie fajita is not on their menu and gave a 50% discount. The question really is when an item is not on the menu and can't be made, then don't make it. It's okay for a server to check with chef and revert saying that the item cannot be made. That would have been appreciated. Overall, bad experience (bad food + too much waiting for food). read more

La Casita had some good vibes going on and we found ourselves getting settled in for some Mexican food. The ambience takes you to Mexico including the sombrero on the wall! Our server Juan was very friendly and helpful in selecting our order. For drinks we got Jaritos grapefruit and spicy margarita. The margarita was good. For food we got the vegetarian chimichanga and enchiladas with both sauces. I really liked that both came with plenty of salad. Loved the flavor in the rice! I have come to this restaurant many times during the lunch hour. They were generally busy, but very polite. Today, I went in and there was one table outside and one inside. After we were sat, no one even made eye contact with us for at least 10 minutes. Not even a, "I'll be right with you" which is would be reasonable.
