    They serve beer too

Lamb burgers are good, real lamb meat (not simulation Doner like). Bottomless fountain drinks. Sweet fries were good. They didn't shrink the burger so its juicy. The price went up a little due to supplier costs. I would eat this burger here again. Nice lady behind the counter and cook. Seems like the owner.

After a day of running all around Vancouver before a meeting, I was really craving a burger. A really good burger. A spectacular and indulgent burger. Yelp saves me in these situations, so I did a search and headed over to Vera's. Parking was really easy to find on the street. (Side note: I love parking in Vancouver because it is so easy to do with credit cards. The flashing green traffic lights I still don't understand...) I got a little nervous about the outside because the awning is ostentatious and still doesn't really stand out compared to what is next to it, but then I went inside. With hockey playing on four screens, this feels like a very Canadian way of eating a burger, but somehow it doesn't feel too sports-bar-like. Clean and open, it is easy to read the menus and order. The cashier was very friendly and told me she would bring the food to me. I ordered sweet potato fries and they were perfect; both crispy and hot. This is a rarity for sweet potato fries, which I can never figure out. If they have good breading, they aren't hot; if they are hot, they don't taste good. Somehow, Vera's pulled it off. The burger was also great. I ordered the works and pulled a few things off because it was so big. A very sweet, gruff-voiced attendant (possibly the owner) checked on me to see if they needed to fix the order, although it was perfect. He checked on me at the end, too. The entire time I was eating, he was constantly cleaning and taking care of tables. Really incredible service and attention. I am over-the-top impressed.

Canuck Burger (Bacon Cheeseburger) with Onion Rings

Jamie W. and I were in search of a great burger in Vancouver and found ourselves in - SURPRISE! - the gay neighborhood of Davie Village in the West End. Yep, here is Vancouver's answer to SF's Castro, LA's WeHo and Chicago's Boystown. Except for the pink garbage cans, it's not all that ostentatious in its gayness, and Vera's really doesn't feel like the late, lamented Hot n' Hunky in the Castro. But a good burger can indeed be found here. Emphasis on good since it isn't that great either. Choice seems to be the prerogative here, as there are all kinds of burgers to be had here. Veggie. Turkey. BBQ Chicken. Oh yes, and beef. Jamie ordered the daily special, the C$9.99 Canuck Burger, which is a bacon cheeseburger that comes with onion rings and a regular drink (see photo). I had the C$6.99 Lamb Burger that required me to combo it up with a side of fries and a regular drink for an extra C$3.99 (see photo). Yeah, required. It was all well and good but honestly, nothing that exceptional. I like the texture and flavor of a hand-formed patty, but the patties here unfortunately taste like they've been pre-packaged and refrigerated. Sigh. And what a is gayborhood without a great burger place. Where else do mutually consenting adults with large biceps go between rounds of fruity cocktails at the local fern bar? But then again, Vera's is part of a local chain, so maybe the burger gaydar is only at half-mast. FOOD - 3 stars...good burgers but simply not great AMBIANCE - 3 stars...a tavern with lots of Canadian paraphernalia and a rainbow flag SERVICE - 2.5 stars...can't remember TOTAL - 3 stars...Vancouver's gayburger joint

Proof that Victor rates his own business to make it seem better

EDIT!! They said they're calling the authorities on me because I wrote a bad review and asked me to delete it. I have the message for proof. Got a message from the restaurant regarding my review and said they have no record of me dining in but I never gave them my name when I was in and they don't even know what I look like because I have no profile picture. Very professional.... Horrible place!! I was there a little while ago with my family for my daughters birthday. Read so many reviews about this place and thought it seemed amazing. As soon as we came into the restaurant we were not greeted. We waited for about 15 minutes before we actually got acknowledged. We shook it off and ordered our food. My daughters burger had a hair in it so we told our server who grabbed the manager, Victor. He gave us a half assed apology and said it was probably my daughters hair and she put it there on purpose! My daughter has black curly hair and the one in our food was brown and straight. He refused to take the burger off of the bill and was not at all helpful. To make matters worse none of their employees are taking precautions against Covid. No one is wearing a mask and none of the tables get cleaned, they get sat right away unless there is visible crumbs. Also the icing on the cake? After looking through more reviews I found out that the owner/manager Victor leaves his own 5 star reviews on for his own restaurant to make it seem better. Will not be comint

    $24 meal. 6 onion rings for $7!

Keeps getting worse. Been here only twice in the few years to see if will be any better. Burgers have shrunk in size. They look nothing like advertised. Photos attached. Spent $24 to get a double burger with cheese and bacon, and onion rings. I got 6-7 small onion rings for $7. You can see how tiny the burger is despite being a double. I left hungry after spending that. Second pic I got a tiny amount of fries with a shriveled burger. The toppings were wrong but I didn't bother getting it fixed. From my understanding there was a change of ownership here, and for whatever reason the portions have shrunk and quality has gone downhill. Simply not worth it for the quality and portions.

The burgers were excellent and fresh. I would have given them top marks were it not for the costly sides ($10 for a side of onion rings!!).

A burst of bold flavors for a solid snack!…read more We came for early lunch to try their wagyu and veggie dogs. There was a line but it went fast, we waited ~5 mins and received our dogs, lemonade, and fries within 10 mins. The wagyu termimayo dog was really flavorful, and the mayo/teriyaki/fried onions/seaweed balanced well the sausage. The veggie okonomi was also yummy with flavorful sausage, sauce, and cabbage (we didn't get the bonito flakes). We also ordered the butter and shoyu fries which were well-seasoned with a shoyu powder and didn't feel any more greasy with butter than regular fries. The yuzu lemonade was surprisingly refreshing, the yuzu flavor was natural, strong, and didn't overpower the lemonade. There is a station where you can get sriracha, ketchup, mayo, and pickled jalapenos on the side to customize your dog to your liking. The interior felt unique and cozy, while still being clean. There is a good amount of seating indoor and outdoor. Typical street parking. Wasn't filling enough to count for a full lunch for us, but a great snack bite!

The combination of savory meats, sauces, and fresh toppings takes a simple hot dog to another level. Quick service, great late-night eats, and a Vancouver classic that's worth trying at least once.

This Mcdonalds is unique because there are no chairs and tables anywhere near the stand-alone mall…read morerestaurant. There are also no self-serve computer order kiosks. Eating in is not an option. Note that I came around 9pm on a Monday so maybe they took all the tables away earlier. Years ago when I visited this location, they had many chairs and tables just outside and inside the restaurant. Due to the awful area, a lot of homeless people were hanging around just sitting. Not necessarily eating. Now with the chairs and tables gone, there are barely any of them hanging around so I guess it's for the better. It didn't eliminate the problem entirely because as soon as I stepped out of the restaurant area I was asked a couple times by several people for a "rolling paper", extra change, or a lighter. Also, I noticed some of the windows of the restaurant were broken and boarded up with plywood. Yikes. It was VERY hot out (30 degrees!) So I decided to visit this McDonalds for a cheap but delicious frozen treat. I wanted to try their new peach smoothie but they ran out of it. I came later at 9pm so it's not surprising but it's still disappointing because I love peach smoothies. I settled for their strawberry banana smoothie. The smoothie I bought was delicious so I think it is very much worth it. It was refreshing and I could actually taste the strawberries and Banana flavors in it. In my opinion, a medium size is just enough to cool you down on an extremely hot day. Overall, their fruit smoothies are good! Good price too as it was "summer drinks day" time so it was only $2 for a medium one ($2.38 after tax and cup fee). Service could be better. There was a group of homeless looking people in front of me counting every dime, nickel and quarter to pay for their food so it took a really long time to wait to get my order in. There were 4 cash registers. Usually, another staff member would jump in and take another order using the other register but none came. Only one register was available and there were no self-serve kiosks. I had to wait 5-6 minutes to wait and get my order in even though there was only one order in front of me. Once I got my order in, it took a little longer than expected to get my smoothie, maybe 3-4 minutes. Usually it would take 1-2 minutes if it was not busy like this visit. I have a feeling that this Mcdonalds is either understaffed or just slow. Overall, I'd avoid this location if possible. Slower than expected service, and the type of people that are walking around in the area are not very, say, totally normal. Also there's nowhere to eat your food at the restaurant or near it. Kinda inconvenient. It's a decent grab and go place for the kind of stuff where you can walk and enjoy your food such as smoothies. Only giving 2 stars for the reasons stated above. I recommend you go to the slightly better Mcdonald's nearby instead. It's by Main Street - Science World skytrain station but only one short subway stop away from the Chinatown - Stadium Skytrain Station by the mall.
