I got vanilla cream puff and mini croissant to go. The cafe was packed, but the line up was not that bad at all. There are a lot of staff that could help. This is my first time trying the cream puff from here. Choux is ok, the cookie top is good but the cream was not that great. It's has too much air pockets, feels a bit clumpy. I don't think they use egg yolk filling. Mini croissant always good tho.
I tried Small Victory inside the Brentwood on Wednesday. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I got Iced Spanish Latte ($6) with Lemon Cranberry Pistachio scones ($7) they were impressive! Lemon Cranberry Pistachio was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The taste was very flavourful. It's hard finding a good table here, but the visit was so worth it. I also liked the fountain tap by the bar tables.
This location is always busy but we managed to get a table last minute! I had the Salted Caramel latte which had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. My chocolate almond croissant was delish and my friend enjoyed her breakfast croissant and iced Hojicha latte. We also tried the pistachio cookie and chocolate chip cookie! The chocolate one is very generous with the chocolate!
Went to the location at brentwood for the first time. SO GOOD! My gluten allergy going away was all for this moment right here!! A friend recommended the mini croissant bites. They steered me RIGHT! Perfect bite that is so buttery and perfectly flakey. My Hojicha latte was rich and warm. the Italian focaccia sandwich was herby crunchy, salty from the meats. But it was dripping wet in balsamic sauce, alittle TOO wet. Made a fat pool on my plate of sauce. The drink pick up/food pick up was confusing since it was my first time, until my friend told me I need to pick up my drink from the middle area. Ambience was def abit too busy too, but popular for good reason!
Coffee shop located in the "new" section of Brentwood Mall, beneath the theatre. Parking is plentiful in the mall lot. The place is nice and spacious, but there isn't really enough seating. Fortunately the common area just outside the store has a few extra seats. Then there is also the food court. The layout is a bit weird. There is a coffee making "island" near the front, but the orders are place in the back. I guess the orders are then transmitted electronically to the island. Some additional signage would be nice. This place serves flat whites, which is somewhat rare around here. The cups are smaller than other places, which is a shame. I didn't even know they make cups this short. Knock 1 star off. It tasted fine, though I don't have the best reference point for this particular beverage. This place also serves cakes, though I didn't try. I've had some from their other location (Granville) and they were pretty good, so I assume this location would be similar. The selection does look smaller here though.
This café is the perfect spot for a coffee break, a sweet treat, or a quick brunch. It's beautifully designed, with plenty of natural light that adds to the aesthetic charm. While I typically stop by for coffee and one of their amazing almond croissants, I decided to try their avocado toast on my last visit--it was absolutely delicious! The service is efficient and friendly. You place your order, find a seat, and they bring the food right to your table. When your drink is ready, they call out your name for you to pick it up.
My friends brought over a Biscoff cheesecake from Small Victory for a gathering. It had spiced streusel in it. It could have had a bit more spice to it and tasted good. Food: 4/5 - a good selection of desserts sold individually or whole Ambiance: 4/5 - a cool vibe to the place. Nice place to meet up for coffee and a dessert. Service: 4/5 - staff was friendly and nice A busy place to buy desserts.
I understand during these high inflationary times where most businesses are struggling due to lack of foot traffic and high vendor prices, Small Victory is no small victory. After their initial success in Yaletown, a number of other locations have popped up. This particular SV is located inside the Brentwood Mall. Posh luxurious interior with ample seating opens directly unto lobby. What's missing perhaps is some classic pianist playing... During peak hours, there would often be lines spilling out to the foyer for their freshly baked goods. My initial Impressions are positive. All in all. expect the mistake of giving me a mocha when I clearly asked for a hot chocolate in the evening. Hey at least I was awake for 12 hours after, torn between giving them a 4/5 star or 3/2 rating.
Always liked their Yaletown location and they finally have one in Burnaby. The place is by the main entrance to the grand lobby. There isn't a lot of seating, maybe 20 seats total. There are 6 small tables and 4 stools by the counter. The coffee section takes up a lot of room. If they used another part of the counter as seating, it may help as there is the back counter that they could use for the machine as there isn't much on it other than small sink, grinder and some trays. They have a lot of variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and a few lunch items. It is best for meeting up with a friend for a quick drink and pastry/dessert. They offer free wifi too Got a roasted red pepper chicken sandwich and an americano. The chicken was good as it had nice seasoning, and it went well with the Swiss cheese and mixed greens. There was a good amount of chicken, not like some other places. The americano was smooth and not bitter or strong after taste. I got it with one cream and one sugar as it's hard to find good black coffee.
My husband bought some pastries from Small Victory for our Mother's Day breakfast earlier this year. He bought 3 types of Croissant Donuts, an Almond Croissant, a Butter Croissant and a Veggie Turnover. Everything was delicious. The one thing I think could have been improved upon though was the size of Croissant Donuts. I'd have enjoyed them more if they had been slightly larger. I had a chance to visit the bakery myself recently and it gave me a whole new level of appreciation for those pastries he bought for us. Their baked goods are all beautiful and look so delicious but their prices are not "small." I really wanted to try something but didn't want to break the bank so I ended up ordering an Iced London Fog. Not as satisfying as any of the lovely pastries they had in their shop or that I had for Mother's Day, but still somewhat fancy to me since I'd only ever had hot London Fog drinks and this was the first time I'd seen a cold version of London Fog. It was just OK. They're a bakery and baked goods are clearly their forte; not drinks! If you've got some money to spare and are looking for a place to splurge for a special occasion, I'd recommend checking out Small Victory at The Amazing Brentwood. Service: Good Parking: Paid parking at The Amazing Brentwood Location: Lower Level of The Amazing Brentwood. Lots of businesses in the area, and right next to a skytrain station.
Located at the Amazing Brentwood - making this one very transit friendly, and plenty of parking. Cafe is quite spacious, and normally very busy, so give yourself time to line up and wait. They do have plenty of pastry and brunch options as well - however this review is solely on the coffee. Got a Spanish Latte with oat milk, whatever espresso was used, was very weak that the taste of coffee was subtle, that it nearly tasted like it wasn't even there. The condensed milk was so dominate, that it tasted like I was drinking a warm cup of sweetened oat milk. After finishing the drink, it left you feeling like you needed to chug down water, left me feeling super thirsty. Might come again to try something else, but this drink was a total let down. read more

Stopped by Brentwood Mall and stumbled here. Was intrigued by their Strawberry White Mocha. It's got condensed milk, white chocolate and strawberry which is a perfect mix. Service was fast and the place was clean. It was quiet busy but it's given because it's a mall read more

The shop in Brentwood are so busy! We tried both bacon and cheese croissant, chocolate almond croissant with latte. Their croissant are so delicious and flaky! I personally like their bacon and cheese croissant then the sweet one! read more

This location is always busy but we managed to get a table last minute! I had the Salted Caramel latte which had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. I am so happy there is a small victory bakery here as I usually go to the one in Yaletown when I am in the area. This is definitely closer to home and easy free parking too. The place is perpetually packed. Good luck trying to get a table. The coffee is good here and I love the cakes and sandwiches. The layout is interesting as it is like a loop. You head to the left side (by the glass wall) to wait in line, place your order, and then wait for your coffee by the coffee bar in the middle where the magic happens. I like that there is also a water tap to dispense water. read more
Small Victory is definitely one of my favourite Metro Vancouver bakeries! I've thoroughly enjoyed their pastries over the last few years at their Yaletown & Granville St locations. A few of my favs besides the coffee are the Passionfruit Cheesecake, Croissant Donut Pistachio Cream, Carrot Cake, Salted Caramel Cheesecake & the Lemon Pistachio Cranberry Scone. SM is a stellar bakery & Burnaby is 100% lucky to have this spot at the brand new & spectacular - Amazing Brentwood Mall! Keep in mind there's limited seating available right at the bakery, but more towards the food court. Because this location just opened up at the Amazing Brentwood Mall, the hype is real so expect long lines & chaos as everyone wants a piece of the action! Time your visit to be during off -peak periods if possible. Bon appetite. read more
Super aesthetic cafe! I only tried their latte ($4.25) for an 8oz cup to-go. I'm personally not a huge fan of the roast flavour, but this really just a personal choice - nothing wrong with it at all. I'd want to come back and try their pastries as well. read more
I love having this gem in the neighbourhood! They have a great selection of fresh baked pastries and great teas/coffees available! The staff are very nice and this place is always packed! They do have some indoor seating available which is nice but hard to always nab a spot as it's a popular place. The drinks are prepared separately in the middle and you have to wait for your name/order at the bar. My personal favourite is the chocolate chip cookie with a close second being their scones! We had an issue one time when we visited (received wrong order) but it was swiftly rectified and the manager was very kind and dealt with the issue well. We are definitely repeat customers and love getting these pastries for guests and guilty pleasures. read more
My Yelper friend C came here and got me a chocolate dessert as a birthday present. It was a nice surprise. Small Victory has several locations. One of the locations is located in The Amazing Brentwood. The dessert was very delicious. It was dense but not overly dense. I ate it next day and it was still fresh and delicious. I have been to their other locations and I have to say Small Victory makes really good croissants. I am glad that they have other locations. This location has free parking compared to the other locations: Yaletown (which was my go to before). read more

Visiting Vancouver and always like to try non chain places and saw Small Victory. Ordered an iced Spanish Latte (first time) from what I read it's similar Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It was Little creamier and not as strong in comparison but still good and not too sweet. The pistachio croissant donut was an accurate description. It was similar to a jelly donuts with croissant like pastry. Nice and like and good flavor and not overly sweet which I like. I'd come back and try more items next time. read more

What a Saturday morning for small victory. First time trying any small victory cafe and I'm throughly impressed. Had the spanish latte and it was soo yum! My favourite food was the ham and egg brioche sandwich, but the mushroom soup is a honourable mention. The staff there were pleasant and fast with our drinks and food and lots of seating inside and outside the cafe. read more
Yum! I was craving a London fog and some pastries and this was the closest thing to me that's open (it's 530pm on a Sunday). I was craving a London fog but saw that they have a salted caramel latte and a hazelnut mocha. I ended up opting for a London fog latte and a salted caramel latte. The London fog here is thicker, not as runny as Sbux. It was def more milky and the earl grey scent was lost. The salted caramel latte was delicious! A must get for sure if you're a salted caramel fan. I'll definitely order that again and get the hazelnut mocha as well. When I got there it was pretty much closing (closes at 6pm) so selection wasn't the best, I ended up ordering a bacon and cheese croissant and a salted caramel cheesecake. I took it home and heated up the croissant and it was delicious! The croissant was crispy still so I ended up leaving it in the oven for 2 minutes to heat the inside up. read more

Pricey for what it is. Their food is good-- loved the donut croissant, but quite small for $5. Their scone was $4 and to get clotted cream and jam, it was an additional $4 to make it a "combo". I actually thought it might come with a drink when I made the upgrade but no. That's on me though! read more
I was recently at the Amazing Brentwood and decided to finally make a stop at Small Victory ! The place had a good amount of seating and nicely decorated. A great spot for study or meet up with friends. I went in a Friday morning and there was a beautiful pastry counter that was very well stocked! It was hard to decide what to get! Their goods range from croissants, cake, cookies, scones and more! Quite hard to resist and not step out with any! There were plenty of great recommendations from friends of the different pastries I have to make a return visit to try some more! read more

So happy that one of my favourite downtown cafes opened up a location near my house! Being a popular cafe with lots of delicious baked goods, cute drinks and an aesthetic interior, I completely understand why it gets busy all the time. I recommend going early morning if you can. I got there early after opening and enjoyed the freshest baked goods and had the place mostly to myself. It is a great place to get some quick work done (Brentwood public wifi) but the tables all have a 1 hour limit! - Bacon Cheese Croissant $5.75 = 10/10 - Classic Scone $3.5 = 7/10 - Croissant Donut Salted Caramel Cream $5 = 9/10 I hope them all the success! read more
The Hubs and I tried this place out. We were here at 1:30pm on a November weekday and quite a few patrons are at the non-socially distant tables (7 couples tables). There are about 4 bar stools by the central coffee station. Not a great place for work as the seats are tight and charging ports are not installed for each spot. Better outlets at the Starbucks upstairs. There are plenty of pastries to try, several sandwiches for those looking for savoury options, cakes can be ordered as well. As usual, the Hubs and I ordered a cappuccino to gauge their espresso drinks and also a pastry (croissant donut salted caramel cream) to gauge their baked goods. Service was quick and payment was smooth. Cappuccino ($4): (3.5/5) looks like a 4oz. Taste pretty strong. Though price to portion is not great at all. Croissant donut salted caramel cream ($5): (3/5) I really don't know how they can pack literally 3 items into 1. It's almost like experiencing those all-in-one hair, face, body wash. Don't taste donut or the saltiness or caramel, but can taste the croissant and the cream and the sugar.The cream is, while creamy, doesn't add supreme value to the pastry. Isolating the croissant itself, is it so much better than a Costco croissant? Perhaps my palate is not trained for bakeries, but I can't tell the difference. Overall: is it worth it? I think there's a certain market for "paying for the decor" market, but it is not really for us. read more
I've never been to a small victory bakery before and I know it's a pretty popular place. I decided to go right in the morning around 9 am because I figured it would probably be pretty busy around noon. Its a cute café with a great selection of different desserts. I decided on the lemon tart, pear tart, passionfruit cheesecake and salted caramel cheesecake. The pear tart was really good. The toasted almonds on it really made it tasty. The passion fruit cheese cake was really good as well. I'll definitely be back to try more delicious baked goods! read more

Love the new Small Victory location at Brentwood. It's one of my go to places to meet up with friends over a quick coffee and snack. I've tried their baked goods (croissants are delicious!), individual cakes, and breakfast sandwiches. There are a few tables and a bar area with high stools that you can sit at. Definitely recommend! read more
