They do have plenty of pastry and brunch options as well - however this review is solely on the coffee. Got a Spanish Latte with oat milk, whatever espresso was used, was very weak that the taste of coffee was subtle, that it nearly tasted like it wasn't even there. The condensed milk was so dominate, that it tasted like I was drinking a warm cup of sweetened oat milk. After finishing the drink, it left you feeling like you needed to chug down water, left me feeling super thirsty. I got vanilla cream puff and mini croissant to go. The cafe was packed, but the line up was not that bad at all. There are a lot of staff that could help. This is my first time trying the cream puff from here. Choux is ok, the cookie top is good but the cream was not that great. It's has too much air pockets, feels a bit clumpy. I tried Small Victory inside the Brentwood on Wednesday. I've been wanting to try this place for a long time. I got Iced Spanish Latte ($6) with Lemon Cranberry Pistachio scones ($7) they were impressive! Lemon Cranberry Pistachio was crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Coffee shop located in the "new" section of Brentwood Mall, beneath the theatre. Parking is plentiful in the mall lot. The place is nice and spacious, but there isn't really enough seating. Fortunately the common area just outside the store has a few extra seats. Then there is also the food court. The layout is a bit weird. There is a coffee making "island" near the front, but the orders are place in the back. I guess the orders are then transmitted electronically to the island. Some additional signage would be nice. This place serves flat whites, which is somewhat rare around here. The cups are smaller than other places, which is a shame. I didn't even know they make cups this short. Knock 1 star off. It tasted fine, though I don't have the best reference point for this particular beverage. This place also serves cakes, though I didn't try. I've had some from their other location (Granville) and they were pretty good, so I assume this location would be similar. The selection does look smaller here though. read more

The lady in front of me ordered a chai Latte and didn't have a good facial expression after tasting it a few times in front of me. I guess she thought it was pretty much tasteless as well. Posh luxurious interior with ample seating opens directly unto lobby. What's missing perhaps is some classic pianist playing... During peak hours, there would often be lines spilling out to the foyer for their freshly baked goods. My initial Impressions are positive. All in all. expect the mistake of giving me a mocha when I clearly asked for a hot chocolate in the evening. Always liked their Yaletown location and they finally have one in Burnaby. The place is by the main entrance to the grand lobby. There isn't a lot of seating, maybe 20 seats total. There are 6 small tables and 4 stools by the counter. The coffee section takes up a lot of room. If they used another part of the counter as seating, it may help as there is the back counter that they could use for the machine as there isn't much on it other than small sink, grinder and some trays. They have a lot of variety of pastries, desserts, breads, and a few lunch items. It is best for meeting up with a friend for a quick drink and pastry/dessert. They offer free wifi too Got a roasted red pepper chicken sandwich and an americano. The chicken was good as it had nice seasoning, and it went well with the Swiss cheese and mixed greens. There was a good amount of chicken, not like some other places. The americano was smooth and not bitter or strong after taste. I had a chance to visit the bakery myself recently and it gave me a whole new level of appreciation for those pastries he bought for us. I really wanted to try something but didn't want to break the bank so I ended up ordering an Iced London Fog. Not as satisfying as any of the lovely pastries they had in their shop or that I had for Mother's Day, but still somewhat fancy to me since I'd only ever had hot London Fog drinks and this was the first time I'd seen a cold version of London Fog. It was just OK. They're a bakery and baked goods are clearly their forte; not drinks! I am so happy there is a small victory bakery here as I usually go to the one in Yaletown when I am in the area. This is definitely closer to home and easy free parking too. The place is perpetually packed. Good luck trying to get a table. The coffee is good here and I love the cakes and sandwiches. The layout is interesting as it is like a loop. You head to the left side (by the glass wall) to wait in line, place your order, and then wait for your coffee by the coffee bar in the middle where the magic happens. Small Victory is definitely one of my favourite Metro Vancouver bakeries! I've thoroughly enjoyed their pastries over the last few years at their Yaletown & Granville St locations. A few of my favs besides the coffee are the Passionfruit Cheesecake, Croissant Donut Pistachio Cream, Carrot Cake, Salted Caramel Cheesecake & the Lemon Pistachio Cranberry Scone. SM is a stellar bakery & Burnaby is 100% lucky to have this spot at the brand new & spectacular - Amazing Brentwood Mall! Keep in mind there's limited seating available right at the bakery, but more towards the food court. Because this location just opened up at the Amazing Brentwood Mall, the hype is real so expect long lines & chaos as everyone wants a piece of the action! I love having this gem in the neighbourhood! They have a great selection of fresh baked pastries and great teas/coffees available! The staff are very nice and this place is always packed! They do have some indoor seating available which is nice but hard to always nab a spot as it's a popular place. The drinks are prepared separately in the middle and you have to wait for your name/order at the bar. My personal favourite is the chocolate chip cookie with a close second being their scones! We had an issue one time when we visited (received wrong order) but it was swiftly rectified and the manager was very kind and dealt with the issue well. We are definitely repeat customers and love getting these pastries for guests and guilty pleasures. read more

One of the locations is located in The Amazing Brentwood. The dessert was very delicious. It was dense but not overly dense. I ate it next day and it was still fresh and delicious. Visiting Vancouver and always like to try non chain places and saw Small Victory. Ordered an iced Spanish Latte (first time) from what I read it's similar Vietnamese Iced Coffee. It was Little creamier and not as strong in comparison but still good and not too sweet. The pistachio croissant donut was an accurate description. Yum! I was craving a London fog and some pastries and this was the closest thing to me that's open (it's 530pm on a Sunday). I was craving a London fog but saw that they have a salted caramel latte and a hazelnut mocha. I ended up opting for a London fog latte and a salted caramel latte. The London fog here is thicker, not as runny as Sbux. It was def more milky and the earl grey scent was lost. The salted caramel latte was delicious! A must get for sure if you're a salted caramel fan. I'll definitely order that again and get the hazelnut mocha as well. When I got there it was pretty much closing (closes at 6pm) so selection wasn't the best, I ended up ordering a bacon and cheese croissant and a salted caramel cheesecake. I found this place a couple of years back on my semi yearly trip to Vancouver 2 years ago and I have beed coming back for more every time I come back. This is for sure my favorite coffee shop in Vancouver. I have been to a couple of their locations and the quality and taste is consistently great. The service is overall very good. Came here again since some of my local friends were insulted I wasn't blown away by small victory. This time I tried... - hojicha latte which was mediocre... It's just hojicha flakes blended into milk. This was still very milk forward and lacking hojicha richness. - cold brew was SOUR. First flavour that hits your mouth is sourness but it mellows out very quickly to give it a nice rich nutty flavour. You 100% need to cut it with some cream to mitigate the sourness which threw me off. I think I'd rather just get the iced americano instead but maybe I just don't like the beans from small victory - chocolate croissant was great though! Crispy, flaky and decent amount of chocolate. Small complaint that the middle was just ever so slightly undercooked. Still a very good chocolate croissant overall. Overall I still think I'd rather go to starbucks for their cold brew/cold espresso beverages but would come to Small Victory for croissants. I guess that's why they have bakery in their name and not small victory coffee haha. read more

Being a popular cafe with lots of delicious baked goods, cute drinks and an aesthetic interior, I completely understand why it gets busy all the time. I recommend going early morning if you can. I got there early after opening and enjoyed the freshest baked goods and had the place mostly to myself. It is a great place to get some quick work done (Brentwood public wifi) but the tables all have a 1 hour limit! - Bacon Cheese Croissant $5.75 = 10/10 - Classic Scone $3.5 = 7/10 - Croissant Donut Salted Caramel Cream $5 = 9/10 I hope them all the success! read more

The Hubs and I tried this place out. We were here at 1:30pm on a November weekday and quite a few patrons are at the non-socially distant tables (7 couples tables). There are about 4 bar stools by the central coffee station. Not a great place for work as the seats are tight and charging ports are not installed for each spot. As usual, the Hubs and I ordered a cappuccino to gauge their espresso drinks and also a pastry (croissant donut salted caramel cream) to gauge their baked goods. Service was quick and payment was smooth. Cappuccino ($4): (3.5/5) looks like a 4oz. Taste pretty strong. Though price to portion is not great at all. Croissant donut salted caramel cream ($5): (3/5) I really don't know how they can pack literally 3 items into 1. It's almost like experiencing those all-in-one hair, face, body wash. Don't taste donut or the saltiness or caramel, but can taste the croissant and the cream and the sugar.The cream is, while creamy, doesn't add supreme value to the pastry. Isolating the croissant itself, is it so much better than a Costco croissant? Perhaps my palate is not trained for bakeries, but I can't tell the difference. Overall: is it worth it? I've never been to a small victory bakery before and I know it's a pretty popular place. I decided to go right in the morning around 9 am because I figured it would probably be pretty busy around noon. Its a cute café with a great selection of different desserts. I decided on the lemon tart, pear tart, passionfruit cheesecake and salted caramel cheesecake. The pear tart was really good. The toasted almonds on it really made it tasty.
