Everything looked delicious and we weren't sure what to get so we got a lemon meringue croissant to share and it was delicious! It was quite large and I'm glad I didn't get a whole one for myself. Fior di latte cafe is my favorite cafe. I have known their products since owner started selling their baking goods at farmers market. I am a big fan of their products since. I have been this cafe for many times, and recently dropped by to get some baking goods. What I got - Hazelnut supreme croissant and cheesy bite(cheese pull apart). Hazelnut supreme's hazelnut cream was sweet, so good. Dough could have been a bit more crispy outside. Some parts of croissant was a bit soggy. Cheese bite(pull apart) was the best pull apart I have ever had. Size was large, decent price and cheese flavor was strong. Dough was crispy outside and inside was so soft and buttery. So delicious! They renovated recently, and yesterday was my first time back since. I like the sleek, modern look they've gone for. The space definitely feels brighter now, which is important as there are few windows. Food and drink quality is still very good, with the latter elevated even more with alcoholic options. 2-in-1 cafe and bar concepts are really popular right now! The part I dislike is the decrease in accessibility. New display case and seating is bulkier, creating a narrow walkway that is essentially blocked if people have their chairs out and others are in line to order. After picking up my to-go drink and pastry, I had to wait at least a minute to get by. If me -- a slim, able-bodied person -- struggled to pass through, I can't imagine how uncomfortable and frustrating it'll be for others, like if you have a stroller or wheelchair. read more

We went 2 hours before closing on a weekday and they were pretty busy. The coffee and the sweets were delicious. The almond croissant wasn't bitter, and it had the right amount of everything. The layered red velvet cake was light and not too sweet. It's a mix of fancy and traditional cafe. You have to wait for your dine-in order and get everything at the counter before you have a seat. But the vibes are on the fancier side. Usually fancy cafes give you a 15-30 minute warning before they close, because it's easy to lose track of time when you are with friends. It wasn't until the store was closed that they came and told everyone the store was closed and they had to leave immediately. One of the busiest cafes in Hastings I would say, I personally have tried a lot of their stuff, such as affogato, tiramisu, pistachio croissant, I have to say, nothing very special. The chairs r soooooooo uncomfortable it's impossible to enjoy sitting there. read more

Nothing beats eating a croissant and having a cup of latte on your day off! We went to Burnaby Heights to satisfy my craving. We actually walked past two other cafes before deciding to go into Fior Di Latte. The main reason being we say one empty table. It's a decision I don't regret! They have so many croissant and dessert options to choose from. My eyes glow seeing the giant croissants! The special flavored croissants are around $8 each. I ordered the crookie which has cookies as filling. The croissant is flakey but I think it would be better if it warmed up a bit. I also ordered a lavender earl grey croissant to go. That croissant is bigger than my hand! Aside from the croissants, I ordered a blue matcha latte because I am curious of what it tastes like. My verdict is that it just tastes like milk to me. Wow! Burnaby Heights/East east Hastings is doing really well on their bakeries/ice cream cafes. Ample street parking at FDL, plenty of room to relax with your pastries and coffees inside. I had take out and tried the matcha pinwheel croissant and it was so delightful. Crispy flakey exterior with very generous dense sweet cream and matcha filling. One of the best I've had so far. Peach Danish was surprisingly excellent, their filling had almond flour and almond extract that reminds me of frangipane filling. Looking forward to trying more items. read more

Came here on a whim to catch the last bits of summer! I tried the chocolate sorbetto and pistachio gelato. The chocolate was very rich in chocolate flavour, and it is not for those that don't want to eat straight up chocolate ganache, because that's what it tasted like, and I loved it. The pistachio was nice and refreshing, and had a light nutty flavour. I don't love pistachio that much in general, but I wanted to try it here since it was highly rated. The service was pretty bad. When we walked in, there were three people behind the counter. We were the only people waiting to be served, but all three employees ignored us. It took several minutes for any employee to acknowledge us. We tried several of their gelato flavours. They were yummy, but not special. There are other gelato places in Vancouver that definitely do the job better. The establishment did have a nice ambiance. We went at night before closing, but the atmosphere looked really nice for post-dinner sweet treats and study sessions. When it came time to close, the employees did not give any warning about closing time. Instead, they just turned off the lights and expected people to leave the establishment. There were about four parties in the store. I feel like they could have done a better job being personable. I probably would not come back here again. read more

Came here to try a different cafe on Hastings, instead of the other known brand name cafes. It can be a little confusing as it goes by FDL and Fior Di Latte. We were looking for the long name and we had actually walked by as we saw FDL but didn't click that they used initials. The place has some tables by the window and some by the counter. It can get a little tight when ordering as the people sitting at the tables by the counter get in the way if they sit back. We got the cinnamon roll with nuts. I was good but the top was a bit hard. Maybe we got one of the last few of their early morning batch. My wife got a little triple chocolate cake. It was really good and smooth. Next time we go, we will try something different or maybe the gelato (although weather is getting colder so who knows). read more

This place is also known as FDL cafe on google map which can be confusing as the sign here is Fior di Latte. The array of pastries and sweets looks very tempting. I have not tried any as we usually come here after a meal and I am not that hungry for a proper danish or cake or pastry. The cookie I had was not bad and the coffee was on the bitter and strong side. What I did like so far was the gelato. It was sunny on my last visit and there was a constant stream of customers hovering by the gelato area where we were seated. So choose your table carefully. I had the double scoop -- pistachio and chocolate cherry tiramisu. Both were delicious though I would get the pistachio if I could only get one. It had the subtle nutty taste and was not overly sweet. Along this stretch of Hastings, this would still be my go to place for coffee and dessert after a meal in the area. A wonderful little cafe! I stopped by this place with some friends during our trip to Vancouver. Remember to check in for a free cup of coffee with a pastry purchase! I gave my friend the coffee while I ate the pastry, haha. We parked on the street and walked in. I got the Honey Banana Bread and the Ferrero Rocher gelato. Sooooo delicious! The gelato tasted exactly like Ferrero Rocher but was still a bit light and fluffy. I love banana bread and the Honey Banana Bread did not disappoint at all. I like how it didn't include nuts because I'm not really a nut person. The honey (on top?) was fantastic. Eating the gelato and bread together tasted pretty good too. I will definitely be back to try out their other gelato flavors or get another Honey Banana Bread if I ever visit Vancouver again! read more

We really enjoyed the friendly Italian hospitality and classic familial atmosphere @fdlcafe, not to mention the wonderful food and drinks they offer. The mango galette was a wonderful fusion pastry, with the fruit baked to mellow out its strong flavour, complementing the rich butter pastry really well; while the extremely popular cream cheese chocolate was very well balanced in tanginess and richness, perfect with their lattes. Speaking of their lattes, their coffee art was impressive and the coffee flavour came through very well. For a satisfying finish after some great coffee, their ferrero rocher and pistachio gelato were as indulgent as it gets. This was a pleasant experience and we were greatly satisfied. Nice coffee shop near the top of Burnaby Heights. Apparently their name means "milk flower" or "milk cream". Tasty. Parking is available on Hastings, as well as the side streets. The inside is quite nice. Too bad nobody can sit inside as of the time of writing. There is a nice pastry display. The place also has meat items such as burek (some kind of croissant type pastry pie). There are some tables available outside, but the sidewalk is unfortunately tilted near the building. Staff were friendly and happy. Their coffee tasted pretty good, though most places taste pretty good to me. The croissants here are something special. They're much more puffy (is that the right word?) than the Costco variety. The chocolate flavour is also not overwhelming, which is common (and a bad thing) for many Western places. The beef burek is actually quite tasty. It's like eating a steak inside a nice thick croissant slab. Pretty satisfying I must say. I'll be back at some point. Recommended. read more

We were late, the server mentioned that they are usually out of pastry/dessert in the evening but we got lucky! My recommendation is go early. Used to love going to FDL. Since there has been a recent remodel, it feels different... alright, not great, for my liking. It feels too sterile and kinda cold. It has black and marble where there used to be a nice wooden table. Before there was warmth and life, that now the furnishings and coldness just is not my cup of tea... or cafe. I love exploring new cafes. When I heard of this place a few months ago, I immediately put it on my to-eat list. We came by for coffee this afternoon and I was so impressed with the ambience. It was clean and modern. You will find the gelato selections once you stepped in and then all the pastries were located toward the back of the cafe. My friend opted for their coffee gelato on a charcoal waffle cone and I went straight for their fruit danish and a latte. My fruit danish was not only pretty but so tasty as well. The layers were flakey, fruits were fresh and the custard was creamy. I really enjoyed it especially with my latte. We sat for an hour and then the server surprised us with a dessert. He gave us a cookie with a scoop of ice cream. What a nice gesture! I forgot to ask him what kind of cookie but it was delicious. The ice cream was creamy and complemented the cookie nicely. When we left, I bought a fruit danish and a doubled baked almond croissant. I will definitely come back since food and service were both excellent! read more

Love the cheesecake. I called in and spoke to the baker regarding the types of cheesecake they offer. He was very flexible and very helpful too. We got a classic New York style cheesecake and my sister loved it! The website doesn't really give much information about their cakes so it's best to give them a call. Fior Di Latte Cafe has quickly become one of my favourite cafe in the Burnaby Heights area. They have an assortment of pastries, loafs buns, tarts and even gelato! They have their daily pastries but also have a rotation of loaves and cakes which are just as tasty! Their gelato is one of the best I've had! I'm not one that gravitates towards hazelnut flavoured things but their hazelnut gelato is AMAZING! It had just the perfect Mocha Can we just take a moment to appreciate this latte art?! I've never been one to be too concerned about latte art but this was gorgeous! The chocolate was rich but even though it was a sweet mocha, you could still taste the espresso! The espresso here is from Pallet coffee which also never disappoints. Pizza Pastry They have a few different flavours of these pastries but we decided to go with the pizza one. It was filled with cheese and pasta sauce. The pastry could have been a little more crispy if it was warmed up but other than that it was pretty good. It wasn't anything too stand out but it was still tasty. Fruit Tart These cute little tarts were one of the best items at the cafe. They are small and the perfect bite. The custard is lightly flavoured with vanilla and silky smooth. The fruits on top vary from tart to tart and depends on the day as well. read more

It's about time I visited again, since the big renovation has added a bakery to the back. Now carrying a wide selection of pastries baked in house. It was hard to choose just two. I settled on a plain croissant and a sour cherry turnover. You can tell a lot about a bakery by the plain croissant. This was slightly overbaked -better than underbaked, but unfortunately stepping over the line of just caramelized well - and not entirely made with butter, leaving a greasy mouth feel and greasy hands. Definitely palm oil shortening involved. The sour cherry turnover was really good. Wrapped in similar laminated pastry, the filling was a stand out of sweet and sour goodness. Also a very good ratio of filling to pastry, IMHO. Service was excellent, but it was just after 9am. Not a busy time. read more

Eh. Nothing to write home about. Came here several times to try out different pastries and coffee. Cappuccino always tastes like latte, missing sharpness and depth of flavor, Spanish latte is missing coffee flavor and sweetness of the real ones, regular coffee, both pour over and americano are very acidic, flat notes. Pastries can be hit or miss. The loafs are dry, cakes have a lot of frosting but not a lot of flavor. Can't say anything about the cookies because I haven't tried them. The only thing I'd recommend is almond croissants, tiramisu, and most of gelato. If you are looking for better pastry and coffee, I'd go to chez christophe, it's pretty close by and pastry quality is much better. Cappuccino there also tastes like European ones. read more
