The latte - taste nice and full body texture. I'd love to try this place again for lunch.

Service has…read morealways been amazing and quality been fairly stable However, our recent visit was a bit disappointing. A group of 4 of us went for a quick lunch. We ordered 3 items: Chicken curry with spaghetti, braised pork and bitter melon with vermicelli as well as salted fish and chicken fried rice. For some reasons, all the hot drinks which accompanied the lunch set were luke warm. the chicken curry sauce was luke warm as well. The spaghetti which came with the curry was out of portion with the sauce. The amount of spaghetti was so little that we still had half the curry sauce when the spaghetti was gone. The other items were fairly greasy as well. The prices at Joy cafe has always heen a bit on the high end but quality had been stable in the past. However the quality seems to have gone downhill compared to the increased prices lately

This place has been around for many years but I've only now gotten around to trying it…read more It's a cute little place. The walls are decorated with pictures from Europe and the teacups are very "British." Besides scone and tea, you can get regular food here as well such as fries, salt & pepper chicken, and radish cake to name just a few. You can also get cold drinks like juice & bubble tea, and bubble tea drinks here too. So...not your typical British style Afternoon Tea joint. Kind of half restaurant, half tea place. My friend had a pot of Leisure Fresh Fruit tea and a scone. We'd already had lunch a bit earlier and while my friend had room for a scone, I had zero room in my stomach for any food so I just had a pot of Longan Red Date tea. It was a cold day so a pot of hot tea really hit the spot. I thought it a bit pricy at first, but when the tea came, I saw that the teabags were Fortnum & Mason teabags. That is a very a prestigious company from all the way over in England. When I realized we were drinking Fortnum & Mason tea, all of a sudden $10.25 didn't seem so extravagant any more. My friend said her scone seemed like more of a biscuit than a scone. It came with butter and jam. I think she wished there had been some clotted cream to go with it. I can't say too much about the food as I only had one pot of tea but I was impressed that it was Fortnum & Mason tea, and I very much enjoyed the flavor of the Longan & Red Dates in my tea.

What I love most is their balance -- the cakes are not overly sweet, yet still rich, creamy, and full of flavour. The tiramisu is smooth and light with just the right coffee kick, while the cheesecake is velvety, indulgent, and melts in your mouth without feeling heavy. Perfect if you enjoy desserts that feel elevated and thoughtfully made, not sugar bombs. Definitely a go-to spot when I want cake that tastes as good as it looks. Best for: Not-too-sweet dessert lovers, celebrations, and cheat-day treats done right.
