    Daily cake by the slice
    one b.

Parking (3/10) Service (7/10) Price (7/10) Food (7/10) Dine-in ..... Not Available Located in Union Square Shopping Center, parking can be challenging. Service was good with plenty of cake options available. You can pre-order whole cakes for various occasions like birthdays, graduations and gender reveals, with distinctive pink box packaging that catches the eye. We tried their cake by the slice (~$9), opting for strawberry and mango flavors, along with matcha tiramisu. The cream was light and not overly sweet, and the fruit was fresh, though more fruit would have been appreciated. The matcha tiramisu had a perfect balance of bitter tea and sweet cream.

Strawberry lychee and roasted rice cake

The gender reveal cake was purchased at One Cake Boutique. You get to choose any designs that they have available and then choose your flavour. The two layers we chose are: * Strawberry Lychee Cake 9" $80 * Roasted Rice Tea Cake 6" $55 The roasted rice tea was super subtle and delicious. I love that it's not too sweet and the unique flavour that you can't get anywhere else. The tea wasn't too strong, but it was just perfect and light. The strawberry lychee was also very good, a good balance of both the strawberry and lychee and the flavours are not overpowering. Since the gender reveal cake was super yummy, we went back to One Cake to try another for my birthday. * Taro Cake 6" $55 The taro was made with real fresh taro which was very rich and creamy. It was very delicious and not too heavy as their cream is whipped very light.

Their coconut jelly cake was absolutely flavorful yet it wasn't too sweet...just right! It had coconut jelly in it which made it even more delightful. We enjoyed their cake and also the cake presentation was cute, I loved how the colour was blue icings. I was luckily able to pick up my sister's birthday cake here last minute. The cost was OK - perfect for special occasions and acceptable to purchase for special occasions! I will be coming back here in the near future!

Rose Lychee ($8.95): not a bad choice when looking to fill a guilty pleasure!

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE Interesting selection of Japanese-style cakes...not cheap but depending on your tastebuds, you may enjoy the flavours and fresh cream! === 2. FOOD They have a variety of cakes baked in the Japanese tradition; call/order early to get your choice before they run out for the day! Ordered the durian souffle and jasmine lime pieces of cake for a friend. On this day, had a piece of Rose Lychee ($8.95): it was nice - rose petals and slices of lychee fruit in the flavoured cake mix. The cream was soft and fresh...but for the freshest and creamiest in town, Mango Mama still takes the cake (pun intended)! === 3. SERVICE It's faster to order on the Fantuan app. Once you're in the store, the service is reasonably fast. Note: they only accept cash, debit card, wechat pay, and alipay. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a reasonably bright and open; however, with COVID, only three people are allowed inside at once and there are no tables to sit at. This could mean a cold wait outside during winter...especially when other patrons are looking at cake catalogues inside! Wheelchairs and baby strollers can fit in the limited space. Parking is as good as you can find it in the Union Square parking lot.

Take out only available at this time. Delivery via uber eats or pick up in store. I ordered the Signature Rose and Lychee Fresh Cream cake. The cake was moist and fluffy. I was initially worried about the rose taste being too strong, but it wasn't over powering at all. Lots of lychees within the cream layers. I would come back again to try some of the other cake slices available.

Second time I've tried cake from one cake, I find that their cakes tend to have a lot of cream, if cream isn't your thing then this might not before you. They have some interesting flavours that cater to the Asian market. This time I got the rose lychee. There were chunks of lychee sandwiched in between layers but I did not taste or smell any rose. Unfortunately this is not my cup of tea. They do provide candle and happy birthday signs though which is super convenient!

6inch durian cake... beautiful but not what was advertised. $57 with tax.
    Cindy S.

Ordered a 6inch durian cake for Mother's Day (take out). While I do appreciate how fluffy and light the cake was, I felt slightly ripped off for the amount of durian that was inside the cake... there wasn't a lot and for $57, I was expecting more filling. The cake was mostly cream and cake. Also, the promotional picture they used for the durian cake showed yellow macarons sitting on top of the cake - which I had expected. Instead I got 3 blueberries and 1.5 strawberries... which is still pretty but just a little bit sad b/c it was not what I was expecting. Overall still delicious, but I'll probably look elsewhere next time. Edit; I just noticed a previous review about the mango cake that was underwhelming - wish I saw it before ordering my durian cake :( !

    Interior --so cute

So so so good wow. I'm not much of a cake person as I always found the cream to be too heavy and cakes themselves to be too sweet. We got the Signature Caramel Hazelnut and the Signature Lychee Rose and I was quite skeptical about both because I feared they would be too sweet and heavy...not at all. The cake just dissolves and melts in your mouth! The cream had just the right amount of sweetness and was so fluffy and soft. Both cakes had the actual, fresh main ingredient layered between the sponges (real lychee in the Lychee Rose and real hazelnut in the Caramel Hazelnut). And don't even get me started on the interior; so darn cute . I don't know what else to say other than the fact that we killed both cakes and were scraping the plates with our forks after . 10/10 MUST!

    Rose lychee cake ($7.50)

Came here on a weekend late afternoon/early evening and the place was empty except for one other table of two. My friend and I initially planned for takeaway but the place was just too pretty to not stay for some pictures. This cake shop is meant for smaller groups (no more than 4 in my opinion) as their tables are 2-person tables and they have relatively little floorspace. Their tables are marble top and their chairs are pastel colored in a felt-like material. I tried their rose lychee cake which was the right amount of sweetness for me. The cake was soft, had a good amount of cream, and was a decent size portion. At $7.50, the price is a bit steep but if compared to a tea place then the price is normal. Overall, I give this place a 4.5 (rounded up to a 5) as I love their simple, clean ambiance and their cakes were pretty good based on personal preference.

Signature Rose Lychee Chiffon / $8.25

Another new and aesthetic dessert parlour opened its door in Richmond recently. Located in Continental Shopping Center, One Cake Boutique is known for its chiffon cake and freshly made cream. White tables and pink tableware makes the cafe looks calm and soothing. It also makes it a chic place to hang out with friends. Once I stepped in, I couldn't keep my eyes off the glass display of the chiffon cakes. The three-layered cakes look simple, yet elegant. This dessert parlour offers various flavors, such as the signature rose lychee and the unique durian flavor. We ordered three slices to share: black sesame, Japanese matcha red bean, and of course the signature rose lychee chiffon cake. When the Black Sesame Chiffon Cake arrives, there is a strong and aromatic scent of roasted black sesame. The cake is layered with two types of cream: vanilla and black sesame. I really enjoy the chiffon cake, as it is fluffy and light. It also has a strong, nutty flavor of black sesame. However, I wish the cake has a thinner layer of the vanilla cream as it can get too sweet and creamy after few bites. Japanese Matcha Red Bean Chiffon Cake is my favourite of all. You can first the rich and astringent matcha flavor. Then it leaves an alluring sweetness as an aftertaste. The chiffon cake again is light and moist, which pairs well with the matcha and red bean cream. The proportion of cream to cake is just perfect. Last but not least, the signature Rose Lychee Chiffon Cake did not disappoint us. Though the rose flavor is subtle, I was surprised by the generous amount of lychee being used in the cake. However, if the lychee can be diced into smaller pieces, the overall flavor would be more consistent. Overall Impression I really enjoy the cakes, which taste as good as they look. Though I noticed some cakes are not as sturdy as others (maybe layering problem?), the flavors were on point. In addition to the cakes, One Cake Boutique also offers tea. We went on a weekday afternoon, and there weren't a lot of people. So if you are looking for a place to hang out or chill, this would be a nice place. I highly recommend to try this place, if you haven't.

    White peach tea

Beautiful cakes, taste good, too. We ordered Rose Lychee cake and white peach tea. The cake is light and fluffy, the tea smells so good and it's not sweet, great to pair with cakes. When i was here, i noticed they had an adorable Winnie the Pooh birthday cake. I couldn't find information on special cake orders, but it would be a great birthday cake to give. Photo of the cake attached.

This cake store looked really chic from the outside and I have wanted to try since. We came on a weekend evening around 9:00pm, and there weren't a lot of cake left except for a full batch of chocolate coated cake. We sat down and decided on the black sesame and the gemicha cake, with a pot white peach tea. I really liked the white peach tea bag that they served in a pot. However for $6.50, I was hoping it wasn't just a teabag. I asked for a refill of hot water, unfortunately they have added room temperature water to the pot instead, and I couldn't taste it more. The black sesame cake was decent. Light and fluffy chiffon, fresh cream that's not very sweet (which is great), can taste the black sesame but wouldn't say it was very impressive. Unfortunately the chiffons didn't look very neat in a display case, looks like they might fall over. Not the prettiest, but presentable. Chiffon slices are $8.xx each. The gemicha cake in comparison was way better. It was refreshing, the combination of roasted tea and rice added to the cake. I would order it again. It seemed like they had a lot of take out orders, and the cakes were sold out around 9:30. It says that the cake shop is opened until 11:00pm, but they started turning off some lights and mopping the floor to signal for us to leave. I didn't feel the workers there were friendly, but I guess they were just trying to go home early. It was nice to try their cake. It is just unfortunate that It wasn't tasty and presentable enough to buy as gifts or revisit. I probably won't return any time soon. The inside was nicely decorated, but not very clean as the tables were not wiped.

    Strawberry Chiffon Cake
    Francesca T.

tdlr: Strawberry was my favourite. Oreo was my friends favourite. Cream was the best part of the whole cake. Cake itself was slightly more dense than preferred for a Japanese style cake. Thus, it's heaviness overpowered the cream. Overall, not too sweet and had good flavour. Stumbled upon this very feminine and posh little cake shop when having dessert at a different restaurant in the same complex. Went in super late so there weren't many options left but Rochelle greeted us with a big smile and introduced us to the place. It opened just 2 weeks ago and focuses on Japanese style chiffon cake. Would go back to try their other flavours (including their Signature Rose Lychee, fresh mango, and black sesame) and for the impeccable service.

Not a good balance of cream and fruit unfortunately

Reservation: I made a reservation a few days in advance for afternoon tea. The booking process is available on their website and was very easy to navigate. Food: It was also Chinese New Year, so their afternoon tea featured some CNY-inspired savory items presented in a bamboo steamer, along with a yuan bao-shaped dessert. Both the savory and sweet selections were delicious and beautifully presented. I've compared Yandoux Patisserie with a few other afternoon tea menus, and I found that they offer more thoughtfully designed, higher-quality items such as beef tartare, salmon oshi, and truffle mushroom crostini. I especially liked that they only serve one scone, so you're not too stuffed to fully enjoy the sweet items. The staff also informed me that their chef change out the menu regularly based on occasion or season. So you won't be getting the same menu every time! Pricing: The set was $59 per person, plus tax and tip. For the quality they offer, I think it's absolutely worth it and comparable to hotel afternoon tea experiences I've had in the past. Customer Service: The staff was very attentive and friendly. They answered all of our questions and reviewed the menu with us to confirm our afternoon tea set. Once the tea set arrived, the staff explained each item and the suggested order for enjoying them. They also regularly refilled hot water in our teapot throughout the meal. Ambiance: Since it was Valentine's Day, the staff decorated the table with fresh rose petals. They even gave me a single rose stem at the end of the meal, which was such a sweet touch. The entire space is very clean, cute, and perfect for afternoon tea. Yandoux Patisserie is located in a building with a parking garage. Parking was about $1 per hour, which was very reasonable.
