Yet another fabulous little bakery on our side of town. This independent bakeshop is owner operated by Tanya M. a very talented young baker, ready to connect with you in time for your next event. Just east of the PNE on the south side of the street. If you're any where nearby, plan to stop in and grab a treat. My treat was the peppermint marshmallows, something I adore that is gluten free but I don't indulge in very often. Num-num, lick-my-thumbs. :D

Chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting and filled with fresh strawberries, topped with florals from Granville Island Florist!

Le Gateau has been my go-to for birthday cakes for a number of years so when I needed a cake for a friend I knew exactly who to to call! The birthday girl I was getting the cake for said chocolate cake and strawberry cheesecake were her two favorites so I asked Tanya if she could create something that embodied those two flavours and...voila! She came up with chocolate cake topped with cream cheese frosting and filled with fresh strawberries! A definite winner!

Le Gateau did an amazing job on my friend unicorn birthday cake! Cake was even dairy AND soy free! Chocolate ganache cake was very good. The frosting was a little on the sweeter side but that's because it was dairy free. Excellent communication and answered calls / email right away. Definitely recommend for special events and weddings!

Le Gateau's - Our Wedding Cake

My husband and I were married in July, we sampled cakes from 4 different bakeries and this one, was by far the best!! It was so important to us that our cake was delicious! We chose the carrot cake and the lemon/olive oil with a berry filling. It was so moist and tasty that the entire cake was eaten! When does that ever happen at a wedding! We are already looking forward to our next occasion so that we can order from Le Gateau!! Yum!

Thank you for your response Tanya. We appreciate it. Anastasia took it in good humour and she loved the cake.

I ordered a custom birthday cake for my 25th birthday and everyone loved it! I got compliments from my friends and the waitress at the restaurant we ate at. They all thought it was the coolest birthday cake they've seen! I recommend getting a cake from here because they make custom cakes all the time and are reliable in creating whatever you can imagine. As well, their cakes are the best tasting cakes that I have had for a birthday and their prices are really good! My cake was less than $100 and fed way more than my friends birthday cake (from somewhere else) that was smaller and more expensive. I plan to order my 26th birthday cake from Le Gateau next year!

Tasty but tiny salted caramel cupcake $3.25

Quality ingredients and elegant looking desserts. This is a bakery that seems to depend more on cake orders than street traffic as there isn't any seating and only a small number of tarts, cookies and cakes available for individual purchase. I've stopped by a few times to pick up a sweet treat for the afternoon. Today, I got a salted caramel cupcake. This was very good- the buttercream icing was not overly sweet and the cake was moist. For $3.25 though, the cupcake was quite small...about 2/3 the size of other bakeries. And especially for the area, I found the price point high.

Words cannot begin to express how lucky we felt to have Tanya create our stunning wedding cake. Her attention to detail, responsiveness, expertise in what we envisioned as well as her wealth of knowledge she provided at every appointment made our decisions that much more seamless. We tasted at several bakeries and Le Gâteau bakeshop exceeded expectations and delivered exactly what we were wanting. Tanya's cakes are masterpieces and the flavor blew our guests away with the depth in flavor. We still hear from our friends and family on what a show stopper our cake was while also being filled with the classic richness of how well executed cake should taste. I couldn't recommend Le Gâteau bakeshop enough for their incredible flavors, professionalism throughout the entire process and the level of art they created for our special day. We also ordered my son's 1st birthday cake from them and I know we will continue to order through Le Gâteau bakeshop for parties and events. Working with Tanya and her team is always such a pleasure! Thank you again for making our wedding day so perfect!

Stopped by this small bakery shop as I had been wanting to try this place for some time. I see this place on my way to work everyday and finally made the effort to pick up some baked goods. I bought two cupcakes and two macarons. I had the earl grey and matcha cupcakes. Plus, a rose and a pistachio macarons. The cupcakes were $3 each and the macarons were $2 each. The icing on the cupcakes was amazing. Creamy, decadent, lightly sweetened and I can taste the hint of buttery goodness. The cupcakes were a touch on the drier and crumbly side. Earl grey flavour was very mild whereas the matcha flavour was very strong. The macarons were good. Both tasted as described and were well made and symmetrical looking. I will stop by to try more goodies as everything else looked so tempting to eat!

So technically this was dessert #3 over the course of not even an hour. The good thing is that this was not an overwhelmingly sweet or heavy dessert. It really went down with the same ease as just a regular mango would have, but it just had some extra (mostly natural) stuff. I'd happily enjoy this deliciousness on a regular basis if I lived in Vancouver. There were a ton of menu items that looked appealing, so I'm might even be their best customer.

I've only been to the original location on Robson years ago, so wasn't sure if the quality had stayed the same, but we thought it was worth trying. We ordered a Tiramisu and a Bresilienne to share between four people. It came out it in relatively short time. And wow, they were both even better than I remember. Their waffles are incredibly crisp and light, despite the amount of toppings on them. I don't know how they make them so they stay so resistant to going soggy. And despite the amount of whipped cream, ice cream and sauce on them, the waffle was always able to balance out the sweetness. Their waffles are just perfect balance of flavour and texture. Service was also quite impressive. Our server was very pleasant and attentive, and brought share plates with out being asked. Overall, a great dessert. I don't know why I haven't returned earlier.
