Bbq pork puff, red bean flat fried mochi, cocktail bun
    Lindsey D.

What is going on with the reviews? I've popped in a handful of times over the years and had no issues. I wanted Cocktail Buns on a whim and was driving by and had to pop in for some. Not the best, but its neutral. What stood out was the Curry puff pastry, it's rare to still see hot water pastry that is done so "dense' still being produced... kinda reminds me of the crust of a British pork pie but Asian style, the filling was very pleasant and not greasy for what it is. I recently had a curry bun from Saint Germain and the filling was so "over produced in flavour and texture" that 1st ave bbq pork filling was 10/10 compare to that filling.

    Egg tarts

If you want to have the worst customer service here it is. I've been here a few times and each time the lady behind the counter has the strongest hate vibe. You will be ignored until you ask for something. And then she will talk to you like you're her number one enemy. I bring in my cheeriest attitude because I'm a frontline worker and you never know what kind of day the other person may have had. But I don't come here for the service, but for convenience. But now I think I will even take the inconvenience of going elsewhere. Besides, the place is greasy and probably has mice having a heyday during the night. The stuff here is not even outstanding to merit a visit. I see reviews about their egg tarts or Portuguese tarts. But they're always sold out no matter how early I go. I think the egg tarts must be a myth or from fake reviews. The hate is so strong here you may leave with some of that energy. It takes a lot for me to write a negative review and this one is the lowest of the low.

    Gingerbread man
    Munchica E.

This place reminds me of a medieval bakery from movies and storybooks. The gingerbread man was $1.85 and hard as a rock and tasted like stale dough. The other fried goods were quite dark implying the frying oil must be brown or that the goods must be overfried. The bakery itself is kinda run down and the items didn't look the freshest.

I don't like coming here. I used to live near by and my parents like to come at night time to pick up on the day made discounted rolls or buns etc. There cake are not good. The cake is a no go. Why I say that is because one time I saw the owner, cut off moldy parts off a cake and then cut it into smaller pieces trying to sell by slice instead of the whole cake. The cake was not even discounted. After what I saw, I decided not to come back ever.

Bad quality of food with the worst attitude in Vancouver that I have encountered. The bakery is also dirty as hell.

The food is amazing! Best pineapple barbecue buns I've ever had. Black sesame mochi balls were super delicious too.

This place sells undercooked CNY cakes and even after feedback and replacement, it was still terribly disappointing. Went in the garbage.

The fillings are rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced -- every cake I've tried has been a hit. She can create just about anything your heart desires. From strawberry tarts, cupcakes, mango cakes, tiramisu, and chocolate cakes to classic buttercream vanilla cakes -- her variety is amazing. She has made many birthday cakes for my friends and family, and they're always a highlight of the celebration. You can tell she takes real pride in her work. She runs a home-based business, so orders are for pickup, but it's absolutely worth it. Check out her Instagram or Facebook to see her gorgeous creations. You won't be disappointed! It was a huge hit with everyone! The 6 inch cake was $69 and I added a customized birthday message on chocolate for an extra $3 which was a nice personal touch. They also offer a gluten free option for an additional $10 which is great for accommodating different dietary needs. One thing to keep in mind is that you'll want to order online well in advance because their cakes sell out quickly. I can definitely see why. They're fantastic! I'll be ordering from Gary's Patisserie again for future celebrations.

Have seen Gary's fresh mango cakes all over IG and with my Dad's recent birthday I convinced my…read moresister to order one, instead of our usual mango cake from Saint Germaine bakery. Gary's only allows to order the fresh mango cakes up to one week ahead to ensure they have enough ripe mangos, which I admire their dedication. We ordered the 6 inch cake for 9 people (7 adults and 2 kids) and everyone got a thin to average slice. The cake is definitely prettier than the other fresh mango cakes on the market, has a lot more mangos that are perfectly ripe and sweet, there is less wipped cream, and the sponge cake is softer. The family agreed that Gary's has the best fresh mango cake but at $69 for a 6 inch cake, versus $43 for a 6 inch mango cake from Saint Germaine, a cake from Gary's is definitely a treat and for special occasions. Is Gary's worth the premium price? I think so but not everyone in my family agreed. One thing to note: Gary's do offer cake in a jar that's $8.50 each. When we went, they had a BOGO deal with the mango cake jars. My nephew asked my sister to buy the BOGO deal knowing that the 6 inch cake was not going to be enough, as the kids like having a second slice of cake.

Since it was the…read moreweekend, their display fridge was full of cakes in two different sizes waiting for pickup. It was my first time visiting, so I asked the staff to introduce a few options before deciding on a small 4-inch cake. 4" Bayberry, Lychee & Crème Brûlée Cloud Chiffon Cake - $38.00 Fresh whipped cream blended with in-house bayberry jam made from whole seasonal fruit, combined with lychee flesh and their signature vanilla crème brûlée. They happened to have all the ingredients ready in-store, so I was able to pick it up just three hours later. The shop itself is quite small, with only about three tables for customers to sit and enjoy their cakes and coffee. They also offer individual cheesecakes, individual size chiffon cakes, muffins and cookies. The lychee chiffon cake was a big hit. The cream was light and not greasy at all, and the lychee flavor was very fragrant. There were even several pieces of real lychee fruit inside. The staff mentioned this was their most popular dessert cake. Highly recommended! I'd love to come back next time to try other desserts and their coffee. Definitely recommend this place.

Their online ordering system is easy to use. The cake was nicely decorated as shown on their website. However, when we cut it, the lower whipped cream/ bayberry jam layer bursted out, while the vanilla crème brûlée layer was hard like cold butter, making the cutting uneasy. The bayberry jam and lychee were very refreshing and matched the chiffon and cream well. As mentioned above, the vanilla crème brûlée was hard like cold butter. It definitely added an extra texture to the cake, and made the cake more unique. I like La Fleur D'Oranger provides options for 4" cakes which are perfect for small families like mine!

French bakery on Broadway with lovely interior and good coffee…read more We tried the canelé, which I think is one of the best indicators of a French bakery's pastry skills. Unfortunately, this one was a bit disappointing. The interior was overly moist, the caramelized crust lacked the crispness I was hoping for, and the honeycomb structure wasn't very well developed. Overall, it was just average. We also ordered the Strawberry Pistachio Tart. The strawberries were fresh with a nice balance of sweetness, and there was a good amount of pistachio chunks. However, it lacked the layers of flavor that make a tart memorable. On the bright side, the coffee was excellent and easily my favorite part of the visit. I'd happily come back for a coffee, but I'd probably try different pastries next time.
