a plate of food

Hole in the wall mom and pop diner. Great place to grab a hearty breakfast for a good deal. Service is friendly, portions are big and food comes fast. Food wasn't too oily and they take credit cards.

I haven't been to other breakfast place in New West and I am sure there are tons to try in this town but Jim's Cafe is always my go-to breakfast in New Westminster. The expectation that they've set both on food and price is quite frankly hard to break. I mean for less than $10 you can get their Farmer's Breakfast -pretty much a Lumberjack Slam (Denny's item that's usually $14+) size breakfast plate here - plus the fact that it's much better too. I don't know about you but I prefer diner drip coffee compared to the (insert classy roast technique name here) coffee that you get from Starbucks or other higher coffee establishments. Something about straightforward drip coffee that brings out the character of diner meals - Jim's Cafe drip coffee doesn't disappoint. The only feedback I have here is I wish the staff would constantly check the coffee levels of their customers because chances are, a drip coffee this impressive won't last too long in their issued small cups. Their pancakes are alright, I find them a little pricey at $3 per pancake. Doesn't bother me though because I'm usually full already just by ordering Farmer's breakfast. I probably wouldn't go here if your craving pancakes. Parking is ample but since the location is in New West's downtown core, you'd have to pay. Ive been here 3 times on weekends and holidays and I never seen it full, but then again I went after 2PM lol. Overall I'd keep coming here for breakfast for sure.

I have been going here for a while now. I love the breakfast here, portions are good, staff is friendly and price is awesome. They also have burgers and soups and sandwiches. They have kids menu which is good as the regular menu portions are too much for kids.

Happy with my brunch!

Very good diner style brunch food. Got the regular breakfast and the sausage and hash browns were the highlights. They do the regular breakfast well, but f you want something more unique this is not the place to do that.

Great typical local breakfast place. Immigrant people trying hard to just make a go of it. I like the place.

Reasonable service, price, food. Feels like and old school diner. Could use a renovation to attract more customers.

Your average greasy breakfast food. Recommend if hungover. Not a place you need to go out of your way for.

Such a gem in New West!…read more My partner and I just went here for coffee today and he ordered a cappuccino, while I got myself a matcha latte. Both drinks were made exceptionally well; impressively smooth, foamy, balanced, and clearly prepared with care rather than just being an afterthought. What really makes this place special is the atmosphere. The vibe feels genuinely inclusive and community-driven, with thoughtful touches like the pop-up bookstore featuring books on race, gender, and queer authors. It feels like a space built for connection, not just coffee. I also love how it transforms depending on the day. The daytime café energy is cozy and welcoming, while on select nights they stay open longer, serve alcohol, and host regular events like DJ nights, board game nights, and other community gatherings. It gives the space a lot of personality and makes it feel alive beyond the usual coffee shop experience. Definitely one of those places that feels more like a neighborhood hub than just a café. I'll be visiting a lot more soon!

What a hidden gem! I loved the matcha and the barista was so nice :) I was surprised to see that…read morethey have both matcha and hojicha on their menu. The matcha taste was not too strong and not the umami matcha but still good nonetheless. I got it with oat milk instead and there wasn't an up charge. It doesn't come with sweetener and u can taste the matcha without it much more but I added 2 pumps of sugar and found that it increased the oat milk taste too much. I would recommend 1-1.5 pumps of liquid sugar (the barista helped me put it in so just ask!). The inside of the cafe was quite cute and they even had a little clothing rack selling second hand items like clothes and shoes! The space is quite big and spacious and has seating at the back as well and washrooms.

Their coffee continues to be excellent, with a wide variety of options that don't compromise on taste. A great spot to relax or catch up with a friend. My first impression was 'wow is there a lot of choice on this menu!' For drinks they have multiple types of hot chocolates and an array of non-coffee beverages - maybe I have found my new spot... We ordered a Pumpkin Chai Latte and a Pumpkin Spice Belgian Hot Chocolate and a Macadamia Marble Cookie. I like that for their hot chocolate you get to choose if it's milk or dark, I opted for dark. We found a table and I do appreciate the table signs that say to limit your visit to one hour. Honestly, more places should do this to stop people from treating a cafe like their living room or a library. I do feel like Delicia is on the overpriced side for what it serves. The latte was almost $7 and the hot chocolate was $8. I don't think that the drinks aren't worth it, it feels like mixed powder and nothing note worthy. When a menu is too big, it makes me question what is actually good, because even for a small cafe, you can't do everything good. To top it off, our cookie had a hair on the plate, very unappetizing. I don't think that I'll be back.
