I am done with Artie's Ace Hardware. Never again. I don't expect a celebration when I walk into a store, but when half a dozen women are socializing at the counter and seemed bothered to help a customer, you gotta ask yourself do they want customers at all?! I stopped by Ace Hardware today on the mission to find a replacement valve for a hose. Upon arriving, I saw several cashiers and the customer service team ready to assist me though I thought I'd try finding what I needed myself. First, I went to the pool supply aisle and found some hose extensions but not what I was looking for. Then, I found what I assume was the right thing in the lawn/gardening aisle. While for someone not very handy around the house, I did as well as could be, but in the future, I may start off by going right up to Ace Hardware team members for quicker direction. The store itself was large with attention-grabbing seasonal displays as you first walk in and many aisles to the left and right. I do feel that this store has a bit of everything. I have gone there previously to buy light bulbs, air filters, drinking water filters, and even plastic furniture covers when work is being done. I have also gone to the key counter to get duplicate keys made. I also have utilized the customer service desk previously for returns and exchanges as well as asking for assistance. The store is rather clean and easy to navigate, and most of the time, the items I am looking for are in stock. There is also something to be said by joining the Ace Rewards program (by going to https://www.acehardware.com/myaccount#ace-rewards) and also downloading the Ace Hardware app. You can earn 10 points per dollar on most purchases at which point 2500 points earns a $5 reward. I went in to purchase a heli coil and the first employee didn't know what I was talking about. He admitted that his expertise was plumbing. No problem, he said ask the gentleman in hardware. Neither of the 2 had ever heard about them. I walked around by myself and couldn't locate them. I saw a gal and gentleman with the Ace shirt on just talking amongst themselves. I asked if they could hopefully help me as the other staff never heard of this part. I pulled it up online and Walt's Ace hardware had a picture. Rude. Unintelligent. Condescending. I got yelled from across the store for wanting to return a key fob that didn't work. I explained it didn't work after it started the car once. I was told that's a dealer issue we don't deal with electronic side. Then why do they hook up an electronic device to your vehicle to reprogram a key fob!!! I will sue the pants off the owner and make sure of it if I don't receive a refund. Furthermore the manager was rude and that's the person who yelled at me from across the room in front of other customers. I DO NOT TRUST NOR RECOMMEND ACE HARDWARE FOR ANY KEY FOB ISSUES! I came in after this place was recommended to get my car fob battery replaced. Who would have known they offer this services? I didn't, but so glad I do now. My battery was only $7 and was replaced with a smile in under 5 min. Everyone was so warm & friendly. Theres lots of cute stuff in the place too. When I got to the cashier, she excused herself, went over to the girl at the customer service desk, they giggled and laughed, and then she came back over and did the return. As a small business owner trying to support other small businesses, I use Ace Hardware even though it usually cost me a couple extra dollars. I appreciate how helpful the staff is. After today, I will no longer shop at Artie's Ace Hardware. Not due to an isolated incident, this was strike three. Strike one was last year in the middle of a shopping trip when I needed to use the bathroom. " sorry we don't have a bathroom available to the public." Strike two was six months ago when I bought a can of stain that was defective. It was unused, but had been opened, so I tried to return it. I was told by the manager that unused, is non-returnable. Three was today when I went in looking for a specific color of spray paint(in the middle of a project). I found it, however, there's a known problem with this batch of spray paint where certain cans don't work because they sat outside in a shipping container for three months. Three other ACE stores owned by someone other than Artie tested out the cans and I bought every can that worked. They were able to see other cans not work and take them off the shelf so an unlucky customer doesn't buy them. I found six cans at Lowe's and four of them didn't work. Lowe's took all four cans back. Front locations, our owned by different people and all other locations have gone out of their way to deliver good customer service If you're buying anything at Artie's ACE Hardware, especially spray paint, buyer beware. read more

I suggest that you don't buy generic replacement keys for your vehicle. They give you written instructions how to program it. I have a Chevy Avalanche and the key I programmed not only did not work but it screwed up my whole ignition system with my original GM key! On top of that, they wouldn't give me my money bk. ACE is the place. I came in for fly traps! We have horse flys - why? I don't know why... They have to go though. I spent &20 and lurches 4 diff. traps! Good selection- store clerks helpful- checked out quickly! I highly recommend. Have to say, at least they are consistent. I wrote a scathing review of them years ago after the tenth or eleventh terrible experience I had with their customer service people. So, I hold off going there and would drive the extra 3 miles right past them to go to Home Dept rather than enter their store but, lo and behold, I was tight on time so I went in there today and some grey haired loudmouth made a fuss because I did not respond to her fast enough. In an effort to support local, and not purchase on Amazon and have it delivered, we went to Arties Hardware. There was a sign literally sitting on the Traeger that we bought that listed it on sale for $100 cheaper. So we went to buy it, and the woman said the sign was not correct as the date was not yet. BUT, the sign was on the grill, and we didn't see the date. She said she would not honor the price. She didn't act like she cared and didn't even ask a manager. I'm just disappointed in the service. I shop there a few times a month. They offer a variety that I expect at a general hardware store. The people there are very helpful.

We were on the hunt for a corking lawn aerator and could not find one anywhere! We had called all of the Ace's near us, checked Home Depot, and every website we could think of. One store said they had it but when we got there, that wasn't the case. Something told me to call Artie's Ace for my last ditch effort and what do ya know, they had one!!!! The gal who answered the phone was super nice and went and personally looked for me. She then put it behind a register with my name on it so that when I popped in to pick it up, it was right there, making my process super easy. The store itself was REALLY cool! Different than the one by our house which was fun. They have lots of cool gift ideas, BBQ sauces, etc. My mind was spinning with Father's Day ideas! They also have masks and sanitizer right now if you need them. This is a bit of a drive from our house but I would make it again because of the excellent service and great selection of items. This, by far is the largest and most best Ace Hardware that I have ever had the pleasure of walking into. Massive amount of inventory of just about everything home related. Of course, they are known for the plethora of fasteners but this location had a lot of tools and lawn equipment that rivaled the larger home improvement stores. read more

It is understandable that a business, especially during Covid, may not have all types of products in stock. However, it is not fair to your customer to perforce only half of what they asked for and wait until the end to tell them. I went in today for a set of keys. The man at the key counter around 1pm made 2 of the three keys that i needed. Then came to me and said, " here's what's going on..." They do not carry all types of keys. He did not check all of his inventory before starting the work I requested. I took the keys he did make and paid for them. About 20 minutes later, I came back to return the keys. The cashier cashier didn't ask why or try to understand what happened, even after i said the service was shotty. The guy who cut the keys came by and asked,"you didn't want the keys?" I needed some place that was a one stop shop for all of my keys. Before leaving, he told me "Thank you for wasting my time...good luck finding someone to make them." He had left and I was getting the return receipt, I talked to the cashiers and stated that I did not appreciate being talked to like that. They looked at each other and said nothing. My family and I have been frequenting this location for almost two decades, not any more. There is a Home Depot and a Lowes near by. The employees today were any combination of rude, uncaring, inappropriate and highly unprofessionally. This is not the time to alienate tour customers. read more

Have always had good experiences here until yesterday when I went to drop an envelope at the post office located in the store. Terry was behind the counter and berated me for asking for change and then screamed SHUT YOUR MOUTH while she took a customer in front of me and made me wait for her to finish with him before taking my envelope. What a disgusting attitude and awful way to treat a customer. She needs to be given a job working in the back so she doesn't deal with customers. I use to go to the ACE on Tatum and Thunderbird but their customer service has become non existent. I love the ACE at 32nd and Shea now much better. Their employees are always so helpful and smile. They make you feel welcome. I went to the other one today on Tatum Only because they have a post office and the person behind the counter was not friendly, helpful and had a scowl on her face. I went to buy some hardware and also to return a $4 dollar return the I bought at my regular ACE's Store at Scottsdale Rd and McDowell Rd, well the assocIate did not make the return, because was from another location, I know they are different owners at Ace but is same brand, same items, she was really rude and as store manager myself for a retail company in the past, no matter where you bought it with a receipt you have to do it. STEER CLEAR (and if you see or run into TED - cuz what a monstrous unintelligent clown , RUN FOR YOUR LIFE ) of this TRAIN WRECK and disaster of an attempt at a hardware store that more resembles a horrific movie set with the least qualified actors/employees possible!!!I have lived in the area and worked as a handyman for 20+ years and I've only frequented this Arties Ace Hardware a couple times, each time trying to give them the benefit of the doubt that the last time was just a fluke or someone was having a bad day, but visiting again today due to a couple projects I was struggling to find parts for, I was once again met with an absolutely rude, careless, lackadaisical , offensive , and debatably even non-existent level of customer service. I had to inquire 4-5 times for help finding what i needed with zero answers and a truly abhorrent manner in which i was treated, or more aptly put, blown off. After about 45 minutes, and this is probably the same person all the negative reviews have been complaining about previously here, the most condescending, no answer having prick on the planet comes up and aggressively asks me if i'm going to purchase anything since i've been there for an hour, insinuating that he somehow perceived that stores employees complete lack of aptitude and knowledge along with their absolute unwillingness to even be friendly let alone help someone out , as instead being about me apparently planning on becoming a thief while clearly carrying around a handful of items i needed to purchase !!! what a clown! Reciprocating such horrible treatment was the only thing they could've impacted myself to even think about anything like that. anyhow, Don't visit this store at any cost as they literally should , and would need to for me to consider it agajn, pay people, especially professionals taking time to shop there for real jobs they're working on only to be practically chased out of the store by this insanely insecure , uneducated , negative , power trip having, mental midget , insanely poor excuse for a human being after now having completely wasted a portion of my afternoon where i could have made money or st least found and bought what i was looking for and made it back to job site. and none of that even covers the fact that the store itself had not a single effective or pertinent thing out of the five items I was looking for, none of which were extraordinary in the least. read more

I went into Artie's Ace Hardware located on the NorthEast corner of Tatum Blvd and Thunderbird Rd. It is closer to my home that other stores. I have gone there numerous times over the last 12 years. Not for everything mind you. My last visit was a nightmare exemplified by a 30 something perpetuator who does not know the first letter, or any letter, of the words: CUSTOMER SERVICE! It was only the 2nd experience I have come across where employees expect to show up for work, do nothing (except be rude, stupid, uncool, not nice, and adhere to not one single task they were trained or told to do. After all that, they expect to be paid! Then when given their walking orders, "Don't let the door hit you on the way out!" Last words said by management, "Don't call us, we'll call you!" In this case which I had it was so unbelievable, I think the guy challenged me, I wasn't sure what he said exactly as I was ahead of him exiting the store. I was fully ready to punch this punks lights out. Only if he tried to hit me first, I am not totally stupid like this joker. I would take his attempt and either deflect it or send him and his useless energy, as he is a stupid and silly ass, straight to the ground. BTW, I sent either a survey or an email after this happened, probably a month or so ago. Explaining the travesty and asking them or letting them know they could contact me by phone or otherwise. I was going to let this go but our experience ruined my day. First, I went online to get scroll saw blades. The ones I wanted were at Artie's for "immediate pickup". We went there and looked everywhere and could not find the scroll saw blades. We then went up to the back desk to ask where they were located. But, the female Store Manager and her side kick big guy employee were involved in chitchat with a customer who was already checked out. They saw me there as I waited at least a minute while they talked away. They both went on chatting, even after directly looking at me. When I finally said, I guess you don't have time for me, they stopped and asked what I wanted. They seemed irritated. I asked where the scroll saw blades were located. The big guy walked us to the location but they did not have any of the brand of blades I was told they had in stock on their website. When I questioned it, the guy said you can't trust Ace's the online site. I asked why say they had them if they don't. He asked if I wanted to talk to the manager. And the manager was the same women standing behind the counter who ignored me gabbing away. I asked if she was the manager and he said yes. I asked why would she help me now after giving me a dirty look. All you two cared about was chit chatting. The big guy then said, well that guy spent over $200.00! I asked oh, you only give attention to big spenders? Aren't we worthy customers? He stammered, said some snide remark and walked off leaving us. We will never shop there again. Mr. Arti needs to have an employee meeting and have a talk with the manager and employees about customer service. And ... Keep their stock up to date. read more

The customer in question phoned to ask about chlorine tablets, and because the information she wanted wasn't listed on the package, even though my friend and two other people (including the head manager) looked at it, they are clearly idiots. My friend called me up in tears after an 8 hours of white knuckling it through her own life issues and of smiling like nothing is wrong, and then you treat her like crap over chlorine tablets? Seriously? First world problems, much? I've been there, folks. I've visited this store. They're TRYING. They don't always have all of the answers. read more

Diamond in the rough. I had never been here and I never realized how resourceful an Ace Hardware store could be. This store has a nice cozy hometown feel and they have a post office inside!!
