I ordered chicken Marsala. I had had it before. It tasted like it was made with Boone's Farm wine. I spoke to the arrogant manager who mansplained to me how they don't 86 a dish when they don't have the ingredient it's named after, dripping with sarcasm. Being a vegetarian in the Modesto area can be tough. One place Yelp recommended was closed, so I found Papachino's. It was a good find. The falafel was crunchy and well flavored. The fries were tasty too. Prices are reasonable, and the service was fast. If I'm in the area again, I'll be back. read more

A nice lunch option while downtown if you are looking for something different. A nice cozy environment with beautiful murals on the walls. It gets pretty busy around noon so I would recommend going in either a little before or a little after the lunch rush. Sandwiches come with soup, salad or fries. read more

The tzatziki sauce was especially tasty-- a great blend of yogurt, cucumber, dill, and seasonings, just bursting with flavor. The Greek salad is tangy, fresh, and the perfect light accompaniment to the rich pitas. The Zorba was great too, but we think it might have been even better with veggies on the side. It's empty in here and shouldn't be-- this is a great place for lunch and the wait staff are always friendly and helpful. They're also great at providing meal substitutes for those who need them. So yummy! Perfect servings wish I took a photo before eating. The pasta was so creamy and fresh. The meat tender and soft. Noodles cooked perfectly. The lentil soup brought back memories of my childhood. I will for sure be coming back again. Don't worry their lamp is yummy too. Given this is more of a bistro style greek restaurant, I found it outstanding. Friendly table service. The large gyro pita was superb. So many times gyro meat is dry. This was moist and flavorful. The pita was fluffy and fresh. Onions, tzatziki, and tomatoes, all were there. And it came with a fair size Greek salad which was actually good! read more

Gave this place a shot today. Service was good polite and prompt. Not necessarily a place I would go back to during Covid though no masks, people coming in no masks, however some protocol they got my drink etc. Food was good, got the falafel pita my go to on Mediterranean joints. The falafel had good flavor, pretty clear they made it there, instead of the frozen disks you see at other places. The only thing would be a better fry to the falafel to get that crisp exterior with delicious chickpea interior. The veggies inside were fresh, and I liked that they used the pickled banana peppers instead of pickles. Tzatziki had good taste and the feta used gave a sharp complexity to the dish. I am pregnant with TWINS and have been craving their humus. I called to place a Togo order and spoke with Christina their "Manager". The Holytizers appetizer on their menu was tempting my pallet and I asked her for more information about it. It was a weeknight and it was quiet so we got seated immediately. We really enjoy Mediterranean food and I've been trying to find a place in town that serves moussaka. This place does and I was very excited. I opted for a squash soup as well. The soup was warm and a lot thicker than I expected. The flavor was really good and soup itself tasted hearty despite just being a vegetable based soup. The moussaka did not look like what I expected. There was a lot of cheese so it made the dish a little greasy but this wasn't a big issue. The sauce was delicious and the overall flavor was great. Everything was average. Surprised considering the great yelp reviews, but I think a lot of those are outdated. We ordered calamari- it looked like it was purchased at Costco and thrown in the oven. It was great that it only took 5 min to come out, but also very concerning. Side salad was okay, they were out of ranch. Chicken Marsala was good but very rich to the point it hurt my stomach, but I couldn't stop eating it. The girl who worked there was mostly on her phone watching a video. She did not have a mask or practice any covid-19 safety procedures . The young man came and took our food order . We ordered drinks but never got them. The girl working there suddenly was blowing her nose in front of us constantly which caused my friends and I to lose our appetite and wanted to avoid anything covid related . My friends and I took our food to go but lost our appetite and was unable to finish our food . Unfortunately, we had a bad experience, so we won't be back... The building is actually beautiful & there were lots of pictures painted on the walls to keep my son's attention while we waited. It didn't seem that busy, maybe 6 tables, but the fact that there was only one waitress made for along wait. After finally getting our food, my fiance noticed green stuff floating throughout his iced tea. It was like the slimy green mold that sits at the bottom of a fish tank (gross) . 10 minutes & we can't find the waitress to let her know... when we do catch her, she doesn't even apologize... or offer to take it off the bill... just "What else do you want" & she was very rushed about it. The food itself was good. We got calamari, shrimp pasta & salads. I asked for feta cheese on fries for my son, she liked at me like I was an alien, so I got him a bowl of rice instead- didn't want the hassle haha. When time to check out, I showed the waitress our groupon & she hand wrote the new total on the back of the check. Two meals for about 25$- not bad! But then I got the receipt.... I was still charged $40+... The waitress corrected the man at the cash register who then explained that he couldn't reverse the charge, but he will give me a $14 credit to my card. Okay... I'm still waiting for the credit to show up, but of course the $40 charge is showing already. Oh well. We'll go elsewhere next time read more

I used to eat at Papachino's when they were located in another location which was bigger, more room for people to sit. The food here is very good. Have eaten lunch there several times. Still prefer Papapavlos for excellent Greek cuisine. A little to pricey for some people though therefore, Papachino's makes an excellent 2nd choice. read more

I yelped for "Mediterranean" food and this place came up with lots of good reviews, so I decided I had to try it. Yelp has failed me for the first time. We ordered fried calamari, falafels, and chicken gyros with a side of french fries and salad. Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, was so incredibly salty! I had to keep dipping my food in the yogurt to lessen the saltiness. The gyros were the only decent part of our meal, but even that was just mediocre. It tasted more like chicken fajita in pita than anything else. Maybe it was just a bad day. Maybe I ordered the wrong things. Or maybe I just have a different palate than all these other reviewers. Who knows? But one thing's for sure, I'm not coming back to this place. I would have given it two stars for the decent service, but then I had to spend the rest of the night going in and out of the bathroom. That definitely dropped it down to one star. read more

I've been twice now and have always been greeted by friendly and fast service. I've had a gyro and the mousaka both which were very good. I've also had the white been soup and tasted a gyros plate that were quite tasty. Maybe not the worlds most amazing but definitely worth having again especially at the very reasonable prices. The most recent time I ordered they were closing early for some maintenance but gave me the heads up and said if I could get down there quickly they could make it happen. A friend and I went to Papachinos for dinner. It was reasonably priced, we had went to Skewers down the street but it was out of our price range. The ambience was slick. As you walked in they had a young bloke playing the guitar. He sounded really good. It is initially confusing as you walk in because the front counter is off to the side, so you wonder should you sit or wait to be seated. As you walk a little further you see the servers. The service was attentive.The bathroom was is good shape. The food was delicious but above all they pile it on. We got the three meat pita platter with beef, chicken and gyro meat. The pitas we home made and fluffy. The french fries were overcooked. Overall the food was a bit greasy, but satisfying overall. read more
