This has to be my favorite spot in Modesto. I am always satisfied with the quality of the food. The staff is incredibly nice and helpful and provide amazing service. I highly recommend this place to anyone considering stopping here. I can't wait to come back here soon!

Chicken Shawarma Plate and the Mighty Combo Plate

Came here on a whim and will absolutely be back. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We were told the combo plate we ordered would take some extra time, as the meals were made to order. Totally worth the wait! Flavorful dishes and generous portions that even our picky toddler enjoyed. The restaurant was extremely clean and comfortable. So happy we stumbled upon this family owned Modesto gem

Fun Falafel Plate (6 Pc)

I'm so happy we stopped in here for lunch! My wife and I were feeling peckish while out running errands and we saw this spot on Yelp and decided to go for it. The space is a bit on the smaller side, so it's great for a quick lunch or dinner and I must also commend the staff on their friendliness. This place felt very homey and welcoming. The food itself was flavorful and authentic. You could tell everything was made fresh from real ingredients. I'm actually really excited to eat at this place again. We started off with the Me Mo's Mezza which included hummus, baba ghanouj, fattoush and pita and we added on an order of 4 dolmas. The dolmas were absolute perfection. The flavor and seasoning just filled my mouth and gave a nice, refreshing taste alongside the lightness of the dish. My only complaint is that we didn't order more. The hummus and baba ghanouj were so fresh, aromatic and delicious. Their textures were on point an you could tell they have really good standards for them. The fattoush salad is not normally something I get, but this changed my perspective on it. I expected this to be a basic salad, but the vegetables were fresh, their dressing was a perfect combination of fatty oil, acid and seasoning that was so well balanced. I'm also really impressed by their toasted pita, it was like a crouton on steroids. Moving onto our main entrées, I ordered the falafel plate and my wife had the chicken shawarma wrap. I didn't try any of the chicken shawarma, as I'm not a huge fan of meats, but my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. She said it was excellent but that she would order it with extra tahini sauce or hummus next time. Personally, I was extremely impressed with their falafel. They're on the larger side and I was quite amazed how they had a light, crunchy crust on the outside, but then we're so light and airy on the inside. Usually, I find falafel are a bit more dense and these were so different in all the right ways. They also had a nice herbaceous flavor to accompany them, just all around, these were pleasant to eat. When I checked in on Yelp, I was gifted a coupon for a free dessert, which, I used for a scrumptious piece of baklava. We had ordered teas before with our meal, but they were waiting on the tea to be ready and forgot to give it to us, which was no issue, we had waters instead. They gave us an extra piece of baklava so we didn't have to share one to make up for the tea, which I thought was very kind of them. The baklava was a nice, sweet little way to end a great meal. I highly recommend trying this restaurant. The food is great quality, inexpensive, and the staff is really kind. I'm very glad we ate here.

We came to Me Mo's after a long day of driving and visiting the almond blossoms. We were craving middle eastern food and happened to find this hole in the wall spot. It seems like a local, family run business. The space was small, fitting maybe 20 people comfortably. We walked in around 4 and the place was fairly empty. But within the next 30 minutes, there were like 4 phone orders and 2 families came in. And when our food came out, we can tell why this place was so busy. The food tasted amazing. The garlic sauce that comes with the plates was almost life changing. We got the chicken plate and the beef wrap and both had so much flavor. Would definitely recommend this place for a casual dinner with family.

Yum!!

This original location remains my recommended spot for Mediterranean food. Many Mediterranean…read morerestaurants in Fresno County are Armenian-owned, while only a small handful--like this family-run restaurant--specialize in Lebanese cuisine. Lebanese food is widely considered among the best expressions of Mediterranean cooking due to its vibrant use of fresh ingredients, particularly herbs, lemon, garlic, and olive oil, along with a strong emphasis on healthy, plant-based, and grilled dishes. It offers diverse, shareable, and nutrient-dense options such as tabbouleh, hummus, and falafel, making it both flavorful and nutritious. I always enjoy dining at Golden Grill because they exemplify Lebanese cuisine so well. Their dishes highlight fresh herbs like mint and parsley, along with garlic and lemon juice, rather than relying heavily on spices. The result is a light, refreshing, and aromatic flavor profile that feels both vibrant and balanced. The kebabs are excellent. The grilled cubes of beef, chicken, and kafta (ground beef and lamb) skewers are flavorful, tender, and juicy, topped with herbs and grilled to perfection. They carry a subtle smokiness and savory aroma, and the meats are beautifully charred with vibrant color. Their pita and saj sandwiches are also very well done. Each sandwich is warm and carefully assembled, forming a sturdy pocket filled with high-quality ingredients. They combine savory meats (or falafel and vegetables), creamy sauces, and crunchy pickles and onions into a balanced bite. The bread holds generous fillings without collapsing while still being tender enough to bite through easily. The pocket opens cleanly, creating the perfect pouch for the ingredients. For a small restaurant with limited seating that appears to receive many to-go orders, the presentation for dine-in guests is especially thoughtful. The dishes are served on clean white ceramic plates and trays, with the food carefully arranged and portions balanced. It is simple yet elegant and visually appealing. Golden Grill also captures the Lebanese mezze-style dining experience. As someone of Korean heritage, I appreciate this approach, since it is similar to how Korean meals are served with many shared dishes that provide variety in every meal. Some of the shared plates include Lebanese staples like hummus, falafel, tabbouleh, baba ghanouj, and fresh flatbread. Everything here tastes fresh and well-prepared, with distinct textures and aromatic flavors. The signature entrées come with two cold appetizers. The hummus is silky smooth, a velvety blend of garbanzo beans and tahini that almost melts in your mouth. The baba ghanouj is creamy, garlicky, and finished with olive oil. The tabbouleh is bright and balanced with lemon juice, garlic, and a generous drizzle of olive oil that ties together the citrusy and earthy flavors. The restaurant itself is clean, with tables and chairs wiped down quickly after guests leave. Service is friendly, welcoming, and helpful when placing orders. Prices are also reasonable, especially considering many competing Mediterranean restaurants do not place the same emphasis on presentation or on creating a mezze-style dining experience at no additional cost. While some may prefer other Mediterranean cuisines, I personally enjoy the fresh, light, and diverse flavors that Lebanese food offers. Golden Grill's citrus-forward dishes and extensive mezze options make it one of my favorite Mediterranean spots.

The man who made our food was making it to Order and he had been running this business for over 40 years! The service was excellent and it felt very personal. The food was absolutely delicious! Everyone in our party completely agree agreed that they loved everything they ate. There were two omnivores, one vegan, and one vegetarian. And the vegan baklava! What an incredibly unique and special treat to find baklava vegan! Absolutely delicious! I'm a huge fan of spanakopita, but I haven't been able to eat it for a long time because I'm the vegan in the group and when I said something about that out loud, he said he would make me a special vegan spanakopita! Right there! Made To Order! This man is amazing. Seating is very limited, so several of the people we saw that came behind us got their food to go. I think most people there need to expect there would be a little bit of a weight and that seating is very limited and it's outdoors. Although the outdoor seating does have covering. All the people in line, waiting for food seem to have no problem waiting for it because they knew it would be worth it. And honestly... Considering the line of people we saw behind us (10-11?) and the fact that there were three ahead of us... no one really had to wait very long at all! It was really impressive how much he could get done by himself. The next time you're in Monterey, California, you definitely need to check out Paprika. I only managed to get one photo of my plate of food because I was too distracted by deliciousness to remember to take photos of anyone else's food. And obviously, by the time I remembered to photograph the baklava.... Several pieces seem to be missing.

He is the one who will take your order, cook your food, clean off your table , and ring you up at the end of your meal. While that is admirable , it doesn't exactly make for a an easy fast dining experience from a customer's point of view. If you decide to eat here, plan on a bit of a wait. Let's talk about the food . My son and I both ordered the beef kafta kabob plate with rice, salad , human and pita bread. Ok , there was not one thing on this plate that stood out as being the best of anything that I have tried. However, the combination of all flavors combined made for a very enjoyable dining experience. My only small complaint is that there wasn't a ton of food for the money. Don't expect to take any leftovers home. All things considered, I am glad we tried this place. Christophe has built himself quite the following over the last 30 years , and has perfected his recipes. If I am in the area, I will definitely be back.

The restaurant still has a very cozy, warm, and intimate feel, which makes it a nice place to enjoy a relaxed meal. The new ownership is very hospitable and welcoming. The customer service really stands out and makes you feel like family when you walk in. That kind of warmth goes a long way, especially in Carmel, where there are so many restaurants to choose from. The food is good overall. The hummus is rich, creamy, and very enjoyable, and the lamb is delicious. I would say the food is a solid 4 out of 5. In my opinion, the quality may not be quite as strong as it was under the original owner, but what the restaurant may lack in that area, it makes up for with hospitality, friendliness, and great service. Carmel has well over 100 restaurants, so the competition is strong. Yafa may not be the absolute best food in town, but it is still a very good experience because of the welcoming atmosphere, kind service, and comforting food. Overall, I would give Yafa a solid 4-star review. It is a warm, family-feeling restaurant with good food and excellent hospitality.
