Food was terrific! However, that was overshadowed by the absolute unprofessional, irrational staff. Our order was made incorrectly and the food-prep staff member yelled at my souse... literally raised her voice and rudely explained that we should have caught their mistake. She went on to mention that they'd correct their mistake "this time," but we should've compared our receipt with what was served before "accepting" it. When did the cost of food reach record highs, employees make the most they've ever made, but the quality of service plummet to an all time low? It is time to do better Panera... perhaps some customer service training. read more

Recently went here after a long day running errands in Longview. I was super unimpressed with how they operate this business. They had very few employees working so there was basically no customer service we were directed to the tablets to place our orders. We had a very long wait to use one as several were not in working order, we considered leaving but decided to be patient. We finally got our order in which took a significant amount of time. They brought it out to us and we ate the food we were disappointed in the quality and the price was outrageous! We will not be going back anytime soon! I enjoy Panera but this one is very poorly managed. Went to order a veggie sandwich but was told it would have no lettuce or onion because they were out. Got a pizza instead (margarita)... they put it out and say "we didn't have any basil and I didn't know." Granted this pizza only has tomatoes, basil and cheese... frustrating. I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known they didn't have the ingredients. Then I hear them as multiple people to round up on their total because they don't have the change to complete a dollar. The young man who took our order was very helpful. Panera has changed their menu and not for the better. I gave two stars rather than one because I like the soup and bread. The management is the big problem, they need to step up and make improvements. No-brainers left and right! First, our food took forever. The electronic pickup device never beeped, hence we waited and waited. We heard others beeping, so what?? Not o lot is the food lackluster but the service at this location is absolutely unacceptable. The kids working are zombies and have 0 customer service skills. But the short girl making coffee is condescending and rude. I asked for a small americano and received a 16oz to which I asked her kindly to remake in a 12oz cup. She was abhorrent and basically told me I got a small (the 16oz) and she shouldn't remake the coffee. She did, but I watched her go fill the cup with drip rather than actually making espresso. We sStopped in at 6:30pm on a Thursday. My wife ordered a bowl of the chicken noodle soup and I ordered the pick-two (cup of chicken noodle and half of a sandwich...Black Forest ham and gouda melt). The food was ready in 5-7min and was hot and delicious. My sandwich was huge (like an 8-inch sub). The young man who took our order was polite, attentive, and well trained. This was our first visit to the Panera Bread. We were pleasantly surprised not only with the food but also with all the conveniences of ordering. You can order online, at a soon coming kiosk for fast service or the old-fashioned way -- at the counter. This location is set up perfectly. There are even bins for folks to come in and pick up their to-go or orders before arrival. Everything is clean and super neat. I ordered the steak and arugula sandwich and was so impressed with the fresh meat. It was a perfect sandwich. Along with it I had the summer corn chowder. The service is very slow here and the workers do not seem the happiest to help here either. I was in the drive through waiting 20 minutes before I even got to the window, once I did they asked if I was going to drive off after paying like the rest of the customers did.. I'm assuming most customers got tired of waiting and drove away before getting their food. If they are going to have a drive through option it may be best for them to start implementing procedures other drive thrus have in place and have customers pull into the parking lot after ordering and bring out the food to them when it's ready if it's going to be a long while. Or start finding faster ways to get food ready and prepared.. their current system just takes too long for overpriced food. read more

I used to go here Sunday mornings for breakfast and there has always been a wait of about 15-20 minutes for food. I got around that by ordering ahead of time. However the last 2-3 times it was still another 15 minute wait after that. Today it was an hour wait for rapid pick up and we were still at the bottom of a fifteen person list so I cancelled my order. First time at this Panera; close to freeway, just like ours in Keizer(Oregon)and the quality of food at both is what brings me back; never had a bad meal or even cold meal. Always get a sandwich and Broccoli Cheddar Soup(or something similar); love the apples, chips, chocolate chips, and sometimes have bread, too. The bathrooms here are a little bigger than ours in Keizer(same size as Salem's I think)and were nice and clean. Restaurant was very busy(lunch time)and yet as usual we were served faster than most drive thru restaurants. Excellent staff, keep up the good work. I see they also have delivery at this one, too, a nice feature if you live around here. One thing I like is the mayo/mustard varieties and soft butter for the bread. Most restaurants in Salem-Keizer give us frozen butter for my bread which is very annoying. Terrible food. Ordered Flatbread pepperoni pizza. It came cold and with so much sauce that the sauce dripped in a big puddle. The pepperoni and the cheese slide off the bread because of the abundance of sauce. The cheese was in a solid mass and looked like it had been sitting for a few hours. The cup of soup was mediocre. This is our first time at this location and let me tell you what we always ordered was delicious if not more so than the ones we have visited in California. I was worried by the poor star reviews, which the ones I read had nothing to do with the actual tasting of the food. The food is delicious people!! It was yummy until I took a bite of the bottom portion of my bread which was burnt. I was driving from the Seattle area headed to Oregon, I made a stop here for lunch and refreshments. I had the roasted turkey BLT with avocado, my first few bites didn't disappoint but the entire bottom of my bread was well done. I love Panera. I especially love Panera when you are traveling because you know you will get consistent food. Except the Panera in Kelso I guess. I have been here several times on my way to my parents house and while the service has been quite lackluster, the food has always been fine. There is never anyone there. The Panera I usually go to in Olympia is always busy so it feels like the service should be faster. I had to be in Longview for a work event so I stopped at the Kelso location for a quick bagel. There was nothing quick about it. There was one employee working the window and she had to do all the food and drinks. I could see multiple other people standing around but still had to wait over 8 minutes for my bagel to be toasted. Maybe the interior employees can help out when there is more then one car in the drive thru to speed things along. I get to my location and I notice my bagel is really flat. Like oddly flat. I then notice the lines. I think she warmed my bagel in a panini press! I have never seen that happen at any other Panera I've been to. It wasn't even toasted. Just slightly warm. I shouldn't go back. Terribly slow service, flat bagels and they didn't tell me I had a reward that was going to expire that day. I shouldn't go back but I know I will end up going back. Hopefully won't get a flat bagel though. read more

This Panera was so sweet! I had a long drive ahead of me and they didn't have the next coffee pot prepped so when I went to get gas they made a pot and gave me a large coffee for free! We picked up the order and headed home (20 minutes away) got home to find the 1/2 sandwich was not there. Caked abs spoke to manager Tara... she had TERRIBLE customer service. It has been a little while since I have been to a Panera Bread, but this was probably the worst experience I've had. I ordered pick two with turkey chili and a half Fuji apple salad with chicken. The salad head decent flavor, but it was very small. And the container it came in was so empty you could've doubled the amount I was given and it still had plenty of room. Are used to like their turkey chili, but this was awful. It tasted like I got a cup of turkey chili and they added a half cup of water to it. And it had very little flavor, compared to what I remember, and it seemed almost absent of any meat or veggies. I picked up the order from the drive-through window and I guess I should have tore open the taped up bag they gave me to confirm everything was there because they did not give me my side of chips I requested and paid for. All of this great experience for $18! It will be a very long time before I come back to Panera, if ever. read more

I will be honest I am never disappointed with Panera bread. We ordered the group soup of broccoli cheddar and you pick 2 with the roasted chicken avocado BLT and soup of French onion. everybody was very friendly I love the fact that this place has a drive-through first Panera bread I've ever seen with a drive-through, however considering that it's right off the freeway it makes sense. I heard it was a fresh healthy place to eat , ordered a full turkey sandwich w american cheese and mayonnaise on sour dough for $15 drove off opened it and it was a chicken sandwich with onions and rotten slimy lettuce romaine and had a clear bug crawling on it went back through drive through they took it and handed me a kids turkey sandwich half the size with a handful of onions and old tomato's told them it's not what i ordered again they had me pull off to the side reassured me they would run the right one out . lady came w another half kids sandwich full of onions lol so I went in talked to manager she personally made me the sandwich right . giving me the other half's as well opened them when we got home and the romaine lettuce was old and slimy tomato's we're old discolored and yellow w weird brown stuff on them .. not to mention all this took an hr of our time . Just not impressed with how they've chosen to respond to reopening. This is not my local Panera, but if you choose to come order through the app! Not only is there a screen in front of the register, but just in case it wasn't difficult enough to order they added a table so your 6ft from the cashier who is wearing a mask just like you. So now I'm having to shout my information at the cashier so everyone in the building can hear me. My cashier asked me to repeat everything so the shouting was not my first choice. Since this is not my local store I know that there are more positive experiences out there. Oh and I had to track the manager down in order to actually order food. I understand all the rules in place, but honestly this specific store was just difficult and if I hadn't been meeting someone I would have gone into Starbucks. I stayed with 3 stars because the food was good and they were polite just not very proactive for a place that then asked me what kind of tip I wanted to leave. NONE I had to ask for every small thing from a fork for my breakfast, my coffee that they forgot and the cream and sugar. read more

There were lots of upset customers at this location today during lunch hour. I ordered a salad via the mobile app and 30 minutes later, they said "it still hasn't shown up on our screen yet so we don't know how long it will take since we have 22 orders." I then waited another 15 minutes in a line of disgruntled customers trying to cancel their orders and get refunds. The manager finally cancelled my order and I walked away with no meal. Fine. Whatever. They were short staffed today, so I sympathize for the employees who showed up and had to deal with this. However, I would expect Panera Bread (the corporation) to equip their employees to better handle situations like this. It seems like these employees all froze in place and got way too overwhelmed to deal with the onslaught of orders coming their way. At one point there were no orders coming out and they told a guy who wanted a toasted bagel that it would take 30 minutes! The pandemic is no longer an excuse for lack of poor customer service. Panera, please support your employees who show up to work and help them out. This is getting ridiculous. read more
