I ordered the lunch special, which comes with a cup of soup, small appetizer, rice, and an entree. I chose the egg drop soup, crab puffs, fried rice, and Mongolian beef. Everything was great, and for $14, it's a great deal. The best part is, it's not just sweet and sour pork or chicken, but things like green beans & beef, kung pao chicken, and Szechuan chicken--entrees with vegetables . I'm hoping everything else will be as good as my first visit. I do miss having a solid Chinese restaurant in town. Been wanting to try this place, since I loved the Chinese Restaurant that was in this building before. Very impressed. Remodeling was done well, and looks nice. Prices are in line with other Chinese eateries in town. Portions are huge, and meals could be easily split for two with some left over. This place years ago was Chinese Garden and a family favorite. Out Harley riding thot i wud check out the remodel and new owners. Started with a disappointing fried shrimp. The batter was flavorless. Had a odd taste. Dipped in enuf mustard and sweet sauce it was edible. For my meal Happy Family with shrimp, chicken, BBQ pork, scallops and vegetables in black sauce and $2 more for pork fried rice. Not as good as the Chinese food in Kalama. The shrimp was the small dime size shrimp with the dark uncleaned line. The remodel is bright and fresh included the bathrooms. Decided to stop in and try since they opened up. We used to love coming here prior and thought we'd give the new owners a chance as well. We were greeted with friendly smiles and sat down immediately. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we were taken care of. We both got the lunch special that comes with either steamed rice or fried rice and soup then you choose 1 thing from the appetizer list and one from the main dish. We did find out if you get the potstickers from the lunch special, they are frozen ones but their standalone appetizer is the handmade ones, so we opted for those. They were pretty good and had good seasoning to them. The BBQ Pork we each got was some of the best we've had but there was a bit of fat on the edges of a few pieces. The flavor was really great and it was moist and not dried out like we've had at other places. The pork fried rice actually had decent flavor for house fried rice. My Mongolian beef had a really nice flavor that had a bit of heat but not so much that I couldn't eat it. The beef was tender too. The General Tsos chicken had good flavor as well. Husband said he'd like it spicier but overall flavor was good. The place has been upgraded and new tables and benches, the restaurant looked clean. read more

I had NEVER been here before! Granted, I'm not obsessed with Chinese food. But I do like it! Trust me, I was missing out on the best of the best! Let's start with the food. It's made fresh, and you can very easily taste that it's fresh. Along with a massive portion, any other Chinese restaurant is getting away with highway robbery. Not just high quality food, but high quality service. They are great with customers, and really care. But they're also extremely fast. They get your order quickly, and are always checking in on you. But my favorite part of this restaurant, aside from the cleanliness, is the atmosphere. It's like being transported out of Longview, when you're inside this restaurant. We were headed back to Portland from Astoria and approached Longview, WA around dinner time. We diverted across the large bridge into town and scanned for restaurants. We had eaten a lot of different cuisines on our trip to that point, but not Chinese. Hence we took a chance on this place. Parking was a bit tight, as they just had a small lot adjoining the carwash next door. Plus there was some older couple ahead of us who were having trouble fitting their car into a space... We entered and proceeded past a separate section on the left to the host station. I'll pause here to not an oddity (to me). Perhaps this is something to do with Washington state laws. The restaurant seemed to have a separate 'lounge'/bar area. Apparently, you could order beer (and probably other alcohol) there, but not in the restaurant itself. I'd never seen a configuration like that before, so I'm not sure why it was set up that way. The overall vibe of the restaurant reminded me of Chinese restaurants from the 1980s (maybe before, but I doubt I was in a Chinese place before that). The designs featured a lot of reds (trim, booths, etc.). They had a light-up large wall photo of the Temple of Heaven at the far end (I'd seen that in other places before). The booths had placemats with the Chinese zodiac that I had not seen in a long time. None of this is meant as a put-down; I thought it was vaguely nostalgic. I assume the place has just remained the same for a few decades. We were trying to share food and so got 2 platters to share amongst 3 people. One of the dishes was moo shoo vegetables, which everyone liked. The other platter was a sampler of some meats and buns, plus some Mongolian Beef. Our party was somewhat more familiar with traditional Chinese cooking than might be the case for the average group. That said, we occasionally get Chinese take out and like it (often including moo shoo and Mongolian Beef, even). But that said, I thought the dishes here were a bit hit-and-miss. You can probably find something you like, but it may take a couple of tries. My impression was that the restaurant had been serving this community for decades and had long ago determined what the appropriate recipe choices were for their local patrons. So good luck to them for continuing their long run here. If I passed through Longview again, I'd probably try a completely different place for dinner, just for variety. YMMV. read more

I've eaten here twice. The first time was at lunch and the second was at dinner time. The portions from the lunch menu are what you typically get at most Chinese restaurants for dinner. The dinner portions are MASSIVE! Overall, the food is very good. Fresh and hot. The service is very good. They are upbeat and very helpful. So far, the potstickers are my favorite. They are huge and very tasty. The honey glazed shrimp was my least favorite because of all the breading on the shrimp but the flavor is very good. We will be eating leftovers for a few days. The Kung Pao had LOTS of freshly stir fried broccoli & even some cauliflower; 3 meats included shrimp, chicken & beef! The vegetable lo--mein only had stir fried onion slices, but all the veggies in the Kung Pao was certainly sufficient. It was a great meal, although I was a bit stunned by the pricing. I know things have gone up in price, but golly- it seemed like a lot to me. The greatest downfall was that after having voraciously began eating, I thought I detected a seasoning of which I'm very sensitive to & try to leave alone as much as possible: MSG. My bad - I had not asked, nor was anything stated on the menu. By far the best Chinese food that my daughter and I have had... ever. The sizzling rice soup was what drew us, and the broth was exceptionally flavorful. The shrimp was deveined (a real game changer for my daughter). The ginger beef was great... beware of the slices of ginger that add a real kick. Delicious. Been in town a year and finally decided try this place. We usually cook our own. The first Chinese place we had tried we were not impressed with and had heard good things about Chinese Garden. From the moment we walked in it was awesome. Clean, super fast and friendly greeting and seating. Went at lunch. The service was spot on and by far, the best Chinese food we've had since we moved here. Very flavorful. We had General Tso chicken and Kung Pao chicken. Great portions. Will definitely be back. Let me start at the beginning: Dumplings - some of the biggest fried dumplings I've ever seen. But they gummy! I thought the dipping sauce would be a blend of soy sauce and vinegar but it was something else. It tasted more like a blend of salt and soy sauce, so no more dumplings for me, Chicken with Veg -stir fried in this salty brown sauce which is all you taste: salty brown sauce. Broccoli Beef- see above. I'm serious. Sure the portions are huge, they have to give away this stuff because the Saturday night we were there the place was mostly empty, only three tables. We went to this restaurant on christmas day 2023. We had reservations, but with all the Uber Eats and lift. Drivers picking up food are meal took three hours. We received one plate of food about every thirty minutes. There was 7 of us in our party and to add insult to injury. They served our appetizer at the very end when we were already done eating. I plotted that point they would have paid for that at least. Everyone knows that works in the restaurant industry you hire extra staff on major holidays. Server was fantastic! Excellent customer service. We came in during a disagreement with a customer who complained about a dish who didn't like it and didn't want to pay for it. The server was really trying to work things out as a go between with the manager. Sorry to say that the manager appeared aggressive with the customer having to pay for the dish. The server was very compassionate to the customers, but the manager really lacks customer service skills... sad really. OK, now on with the food review. I would say that two people can split a single combination. You get a ton of BBQ pork (though dry), and a lot of the fried rice.
