Yummy good Mexican (American) food. We went on a Friday night. It was busy but we were seated right away. Free chips and salsa kept our hungry belly's from growling while we waited (less than 15 min) for our meal. Our service was FANTASTIC with fast and friendly service. The atmosphere was decorated with lots of colorful paintings and wall decor. It was a little smokey inside from all the fresh grilled fajitas being served to all the customers. We ate at this place once. Salsa was outstanding and the jalapeño poppers were perfect. The rest of our meal was better than average but the service was very very good. The entire staff was friendly and around when you needed them and not when you didn't. Might try another place when we're back in town but definitely would come back again. read more

I gave this place 3 stars because the service was nice, but the food is not good. I got the chicken taquitos as an appetizer, why the heck did they bring me what looked like a chicken wrap? And tasted like a grilled cheese with unseasoned chicken? I genuinely wonder if any of the workers have seen a real authentic taquito. My main course was 3 enchiladas with a side of carne asada. The carne asada had no seasoning to it whatsoever. None. I couldn't believe it. And the enchilada meal with rice and beans tasted like a microwaveable tv dinner you get from Walmart. After we discovered another Mexican restaurant in town, we were excited to give it a try. We eat at a lot of Mexican restaurants during the winter when we are farther south and hadn't really found one around town we loved. It was after lunch but way before dinner hour so we were seated right away. The chips and salsa came pretty fast too. At that time we ordered bean dip to dip our tortilla chips in. The server took our order fairly fast but ended up socialising for quite a while with a group of three woman a couple booths down. I wanted to ask her to put in our order of the bean dip and then she could come back but didn't have the guts to do so. Finally another server came to take our order and we told him we had asked for bean dip so he went and got it for us. He took our order, delivered it and we never saw him again. The food was fabulous! We absolutely loved it and felt it was the best we'd had in a long time. Had the servers been more on the ball, we would have given this a five star. Drinks were never refilled and we finally had to get up when finished to ask for our check. Food was a 5* but service was a 2*. The 4* above is giving them extra points just for the food. We went to El Ranchero for lunch. It's a beautiful, colorful restaurant. My husband had a black margarita and really enjoyed it. Their chips weren't the freshest, but they were still tasty. The pollo fundido was so delicious. My husband said the camerones a la diabla was tied with his other favorite in quality. The service was good. Next to the market is a little Diamond in the rough El Ranchero, after reading all the reviews we just had to try it!! I was going to give 5 stars but then I remembered the chips and salsa. And the refill clause! Waiter was awesome! Called us "mis amigas" and was patient with my indecisive bestie. Once we did order food came out super quick. Chips weren't warm. Salsa wasn't spicy. My chili Verde however was warm, flavorful, and tender! Best chili Verde I've ever had! I was a happy girl! Bought the bestie dessert cuz her birthday was earlier that week. It smelled and looked really good. You only get one free refill on your soda. So now you know. Lol I feel like this place was kind of expensive. I paid $36 at lunch time for 2 entrees and a dessert. We both had waters. But my food was so worth it! The best Mexican food you can get in Longview and in Kelso it's Solteros which is their's as well. I have never been dissatisfied with this place. The shrimp tacos are fantastic! Chimichanga was really good as well. They make their own salsa and it's a bit spicy for me but my husband loves it. We have been trying to find a new spot for Mexican food as the ones we have in St Helens and Scapoose have really dropped off as far as food and service so I saw the good reviews for El Ranchero and decided to give it a try. I must say that first impressions were not too encouraging its in a small strip mall and from the street did not look very inviting. Once inside, BIG difference, nice looking, very clean, brand new comfortable booths and just an overall inviting space. Of course service and food are key to any restaurant and this one meets the highest standard. The wait staff were all very attentive and friendly, helpful too with their info about the menu. I had Enchilada en Mole and it was great, one of the best Mole sauces I have ever had and was good size portion. My wife had chicken Ala Creme and loved it, not too spicy but very flavorful and very large portion. The chips and salsa were very good too, the chips were thin and fresh and a bit warm, we really liked them. We look forward to our next visit so we can try some more of the menu choices. I can happily recommend this to anyone if they are looking for good food in a nice setting. read more

But if you're looking for a taste of Mexico, all you have to do is to cross the Columbia River, and visit the pretty town of Longview, where you'll be pleased to enjoy fine cuisine at El Ranchero, located in Longview, Washington, and you'll satisfy your taste for fine Mexican cuisine. After driving 632 miles from Roseville, CA to Longview, Washington, I was hungry, and ready for a great Mexican dinner. I checked into a motel in downtown Longview, and noticed that El Ranchero was located only a few blocks away, within easy walking distance, so I could enjoy a cold beer and not have to worry about driving. It's about 1800 in the afternoon of Wednesday, August 16, 2017, and I have the whole restaurant to myself. As you enter the restaurant, you'll find the counter, and a half-filled Coca Cola cooler. The sign says "Please Wait to be Seated," but on this Wednesday afternoon I was the only customer, so I just sat myself down, as my host arrived. The first page of the menu features combination dishes, which I pretty much zeroed in on. Everything looked good, but I decided to go with a #1, as that always seems like a great place to start when you're visiting a new restaurant. I really wasn't all that hungry, but for only a dollar more, I felt a "Large Combination" dinner was in order. After placing my order, it arrived in less than 15 minutes, delivered by Martín, my friendly server. He and I had quite an opportunity to chit-chat, as neither he nor the restaurant was busy. He told me that he'd never seen a Wednesday evening as slow as tonight, but he didn't have a problem with it, as it gave him a chance to relax, and catch up on things. Shortly after my meal arrived, another customer walked in... I chose the #1 from the "Combinations" menu, which, besides the standard rice and beans - included with all combinations - which netted me one enchilada and two tacos. For the tacos, I just chose ground beef for the filling, as at the moment it sounded good, but I was a tad more adventurous with the enchilada, as I went with picadillo, as I hadn't had that in a long time. Such a delicious dinner! My dinner was simply amazing, as it arrived from the kitchen, cooked perfectly, hot and juicy, ready to enjoy. This Mexican dinner was a good as any combination dinner that I've enjoyed in California, or for that matter, in Tijuana. The good folks at El Ranchero Restaurant really know how to dish up great Mexican food! Frankly, I was pleasantly surprised for finding this gem-of-a-Mexican restaurant north of the Columbia River. I NEVER thought I'd ever find awesome Mexican food so far north, but I have! Everything about this place screams authentic and I'm so glad. Let's discuss seating: wide, sturdy chairs to accommodate large and wide bodies like mine. Plenty of space between tables. Enough about that, the food is the reason you'll return again and again and again. I ordered the tamale/beans and rice plate with a side of fried jalapeños. Portions are huge, the flavoring with spice is just right. I'm excited remembering how good this food was! My beans were smooth and the rice perfectly fluffy and fresh. My companion had the steak with rice and beans. The steak was just a bit tough but not enough to make us stop eating it right? It had been grilled and tossed with salt and pepper and lime and was sooooo good! There are two salsas: spicy and mild. Trust me, when they say it's spicy, it's spicy. My favorite Mexican restaurant I live 37 minutes away but once in a while I come to Longview just to eat here, the food is that good

My sister and I go to Teri's on a monthly basis. My sister comes from Hillsboro and together we get facials at The Nest and then go to Teri's for lunch afterwards. Their menu is varied and everything I've ever had is super delicious. The restaurant is kept very clean, too. The waiters/ waitresses are friendly and congenial. On our way home from PDF to Seattle we needed to catch dinner and decided on Mexican. Yelp led us to this place just a few minutes away from I-5. We were greeted and seated right away. It took us a few minutes for us to decide on dinner but chips and salsa with waters were served right away. We decided on a two enchilada meal (one chicken, one cheese) and chicken taquitos rancheros. It was good and a great place to stop on our way back home. This was at the end of our meal, who knows how much metal we actually ingested if any. Waitress didn't offer any compensation other than her apology.
