Uber driver told us they got the best burger in town. Son got the burger. He was suffering from bad jet lag so he didn't eat much of it. It was decent. I don't think I would come here foe the burger though. I got the cod fish and chips. Husband got the halibut fish and chips. Both were delicious but I preferred the halibut. I also got a cup of the chowder. It was really good once I got past the half a stick of butter on top of it. Once mixed, it wasn't bad. One of the best meals I had in longview. Very small place. Got hungry out riding the Harley. Had heard good things about this place so i stopped in. 2 piece halibut with fries and slaw. Was glad i tried it. Tried the restaurant and was served cold drinks( Sprite) that smelled bad and tasted like mildew. The halibut and fries were good. I ordered 3 six ounce skinless halibut fillets ahead of time. Each one was 33% (2 ounces) more than what I'd requested. My regular fish monger in Seattle is MUCH more accurate. The people working there were super nice. Coming from San Diego, the mecca of seafood tacos, I've been bummed out a few times in our fantastic PNW. Kerby's for the win!!! I enjoyed the lime creama on the shrimp tacos, and shrimp were cooked perfectly. These are definitely tacos that beg to be eaten right away to escape any sog factor. Bonus was the pineapple coleslaw they threw in a side of, I'd go back for that alone. It's a simple outdoor set up, which I happen to enjoy in general. I've heard about this place for quite awhile, but hadn't been in the area when they were open. Today I happened to be in the area. Long story short, it was awesome. Seafood chowder was probably the best I've ever had and I get chowder everywhere. Filled with seafood and super creamy. Not potato soup like some I'm sure it's not the most healthy thing to eat, but it was damn good. They had sturgeon and I had to get that with the sweet potato fries. Phenomenal. The batter was greasy, but it's that thicker type batter that gets that way. However, the batter was seasoned nicely and the fish was cooked well. Super moist and tasty. Let me start this review by saying that I am not a seafood fan. As in, I smell it and it's all I can do to not turn green and run off to upchuck. However, I've always had luck at another fish and chip place in town, and my mom would not shut up about how delicious this place was, so I decided to tag along with them for dinner one night. This is a bit of an odd place to go if you're unfamiliar. It's sort of a tent/food cart situation that's set up in a parking lot between the river and west side highway, so ambiance is what you could expect if you were dining in someone's front yard that's 10 feet from a busy rural highway. There are a few other vendors in the parking lot selling fresh-picked berries, some knickknacks and a separate tent to get freshly caught seafood. According to my mom, they basically cook what they catch. We rolled in just before the dinner rush arrived and placed our orders; I got fish and chips with sweet potato fries. Our food was ready in around 5 minutes, and had to have been just pulled from the fryer as it was too hot to touch still. The sweet potato fries were great, but I kind of wish I would have gotten regular fries. The portion size is huge, and there's just too much of a good thing. The fish was delicious! At first I thought it was a bit over done because the batter was a deep brown instead of golden, but all the flavor was there. The pieces were huge, too. After such a big meal I nearly needed to nap in my car afterward! My only downside was the dipping sauce, because it wasn't the traditional tartar sauce I'm used to. It was a little bit more liquid/runny and a dill flavor was at the forefront. Don't get me wrong, it was good and a bit different, but the flavor was just a little bit too far on the unexpected side. A downside many people will probably see is that they keep somewhat inconsistent hours. I'm sure it's because they align to their supply of food/ingredients, but if you like the freshest foods you can get, this is the place to get it. read more

We stop at Kerby's frequently for fish and chips -- like once a month. My folks get halibut and chips, my husband and I get the cod and chips. When it's cold outside, we add in the divine clam chowder. (makes great leftovers!) The fish is always fresh and perfectly cooked and the fries are to DIE for. The batter is on the thicker side, but I like a little crunch to offset the texture of the fish. Ask for extra tartar sauce and call ahead if you can. They're always busy! read more

I have been going to Kerby's for years now, and I have to say that they have some of the best fish n' chips that I have ever had. Growing up with parents and grandparents from the Oregon coast, I've had plenty of fish n' chips experiences. The quality for the price is incomparable. There's a reason that their seafood chowder is award winning as well. If you looking for amazing food at a reasonable price set in a fish market atmosphere, this is the place to go if you're near Kelso.
