The service was kind and attentive, and the restaurant has a cozy, authentic feel that reminds you of a little spot in Tokyo. While we were there, another customer caused a scene after finishing his meal and then tried to get a refund. I popped in here with my family Sunday (father's day) afternoon. This building has been here to decades but was recently redone, with a Laundromat at one end and this restaurant the other. There is parking on either side of the building, and around the corner up the hill from it, so if one lot doesn't work, there's another. At our table, we ordered a smoothie, the salmon teriyaki, and the chicken/beef combo teriyaki. The salmon came with a side salad. The food was great, very fresh, and very hot. This is our favorite restaurant in all of the Longview/Kelso area. Lunch special Bento box can't be beat. When we go for dinner, our family leans toward the Rainbow roll, Buddha roll, and the Volcano roll. Sushi or sashimi have always been great. We always get some hot tea as well as miso to round out or meals. Service is quick, friendly, and attentive whether we might need more water or tea. And the table is being bussed as we walk out the door. The decorations are a bit dated but we do love the lucky cat banners. We just wish the conveyor belt was working so we could share that experience with our kiddo. Area for improvement: the parking lot really needs to be striped. Fast delicious food. I ordered a bento dinner combo special. I enjoyed doing that because then I could try a variety of things including sushi, tempura, spring rolls, gyoza, and rice. The life sized Japanese dolls at the entrance were unique and pretty. It felt more cozy and welcoming to see the fish aquarium, the Japanese kimono dolls, the fireplace, the Japanese art, and festival style to the restaurant. I would definitely come here again. They have a ton of different options at very solid prices, including combinations and bentos. Those are probably the best deals, so I went with the Two Roll Combo, which came with either a salad or miso soup. I think if I went back, I'd probably get a bento, since this comes with so many different bites like egg rolls and gyoza. I got the salmon roll and eel roll. Ordered two shrimp tempura rolls and they came with imitation crab meat which normally a shrimp tempura roll doesn't come with. But there was SO MUCH crab it was ridiculous. I was taking it out as I was eating the rolls because I didn't want it and I only took it out of half the rolls and it filled up half the container. Kind of a bit of a toss up between 4 and 5 but the convenience right off of I-5 and the Rainbow roll was amazing so I will go with a 5 star rating. A very robust menu with a choice for everyone. The white rice wasn't like Granny's but still very good and the Udon is definitely a meal if you have a bit of an appetite. As noted above the Rainbow roll was a nice mix of traditional sushi and the "California Roll" twist and very tasty. If you are in the Kelso Washington area on I-5 it is worth a sushi stop. I would recommend parking in the front, the back has a laundromat and the parking lot seems to get pretty full. read more

The decor was nice and the service was decent, however, the ramen and sushi we ordered were insulting. The Thai tea was alright, but that doesn't make up for the sad excuse of a meal. Stepping into a Kaiten belt sushi restaurant that is empty during Dinner time is a little worrisome, but me and my Fiancee were driving down from Bellingham to Portland and needed the stop. The interior is nice enough with a fish tank and some Japanese theme decorations. The staff sat us down fast enough and our server was friendly. We were surprised at how expensive some of the plates on the belt were, going as high at 5$ per plate. Considering the whole restaurant was empty, we were concerned as to how long they have been sitting on the belt. It ended up being more worthwhile to order off the menu as some of the rolls were only $8 compared to some of the nigiri that were $4+. We had the gyoza and spring rolls which were decent; but definitely felt more store bought than freshly made, as they had an almost grainy texture to the wrap. I ended up going for the spicy tuna. I've been coming here for four years, never had a problem. The food was always good. Recently, I ordered a bento box to-go. The tempura was fine, teriyaki was fine. However, the four-piece imitation crab salad sushi tasted really bad; not fresh, spoiled. After trying to eat one piece, I threw all the sushi in the garbage. Spoiled seafood is dangerous, besides tasting horrible. I went in a couple days later and politely told them about it. At first, they said, "We just changed to a different brand of imitation crab salad. Other customers are saying they don't like the new kind either, so we plan to switch back to the other kind." I told her it actually tasted spoiled, and she wouldn't accept that. I sat down to decide whether to order something. The waitress came over; the same person I complained to in the beginning. I hinted at the situation again, hoping that she would at least offer me a complimentary order of sushi; NOT a whole role obviously, just a cheap single plate- the same four-piece order that came with the bento box, but a different variety. At no point did she show any willingness whatsoever to offer me a replacement order of sushi, or even apologize about the incident. Nothing... She then told me that "No other customers have complained, only you." (remember what she said before, about other customers saying they didn't like the new kind?) In a perfect world, (or even in this very imperfect one) She would say something like, "I'm very sorry that happened- can I offer you something to make it right?" ... Because there was not the slightest hint of that, I'm giving one star on principle. If I owned a restaurant, I would NEVER treat a customer so poorly. read more
