Corner Café is now open for dinner and we are SO happy about it! You get the warmest, friendliest welcome the second you walk in. It's casual, cozy, and just has that small-town charm where you instantly feel comfortable. Our coffee and waters were always filled right on time (which I love). And let's talk about the prices... better than anywhere else in town! We usually split a meal, but this time we didn't have to -- we both got our own. I had the homemade pot roast and wow... melt-in-your-mouth delicious. So much flavor, creamy mashed potatoes, perfectly cooked carrots, and a roll. It's a special through tomorrow night so don't miss out! Total delicious, comfort food. Hubby had the French Dip and didn't leave a single bite. He barely let me have a bite to try it out. Then the mocha cream pie... and yes, I took a bite before getting a picture because it was THAT tempting. No regrets so no judgement on the picture. The food took over 30 minutes to be served, and the quality was very disappointing. It didn't taste homemade at all. Everything was greasy and unhealthy. The hash browns were burnt on the outside but still undercooked in the middle. Overall, I would not recommend this place. read more

The staff were very nice, but unfortunately the food was really disappointing. The mushrooms were undercooked, and the steak was so oily that it didn't taste grilled at all. Everything felt very greasy and low quality, and I couldn't even finish my meal. I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. read more

If we hadn't plugged this cafe into our maps app, I'm not sure we ever would've found it. It is definitely tucked away in a little corner by a huge credit union building. It is a very small cafe, but they make use of every spot of it. There was a 10-15 minute wait for a table. Once seated, we perused the menu. It had a nice selection of breakfast and lunch items. I had a chicken broccoli 2-egg omelette with sourdough toast. They were happy to accommodate a side salad instead of the usual breakfast sides. (The ranch dressing was SO good!) My husband got the chicken fried steak breakfast and said it was very tasty. Everyone working there was friendly and seemed to love their jobs. This is classic deli food: sandwiches, soups, salads, grilled items, potato salad, etc. Breakfast available all day. What they do, they do very well. We were there on a Tuesday for lunch, and it was very busy, all tables in play, the waitresses and cooks were hopping. I was warmly greeted immediately, offered a place at small table by the window and hot coffee was being poured into a mug as details of the breakfast special were provided.within seconds. I appreciated that most dishes can be made "petite" sized with a discounted price, so I took them up on this with a Denver omelette breakfast. I chose the red potatoes, but guests may choose hash browns or fruit instead. My breakfast plate was presented in less than 10 minutes and looked great. Browned eggs are overcooked, in my opinion; I prefer a less well-done omelette and this was browned, so that was sort of a bummer. Having said that, the omelette had large chunks of delicious ham, with sweet bell peppers and onion bits and the perfect amount of cheese distributed throughout. And the red potatoes were delightful. The good service continued throughout my time there, with regular coffee refills. I often skip coffee when at diner type places because I don't expect it will be good, but it was raining and cold so I took a chance and this coffee was really good! We stopped in for brunch on our way down to Seaside for the weekend! Overall we had a great meal! We were seated right away, but out in the patio where it was extremely windy. My daughter had the kids chocolate chip pancake combo. It came with a scrambled egg and two slices of bacon. The bacon was perfectly cooked, the pancake was huge and delicious but the eggs were brown crusted with all orders. I personally don't care for eggs that are over cooked, but our others didn't seem to be bothered! I had the grilled chicken with veggies and side salad. The chicken was so juicy and perfectly cooked, the broccoli was perfectly steamed and my side salad was awesome! The ranch... chefs kiss! The bathrooms were clean and well stocked, and the staff was super friendly. I will say that we waited around 45 minutes for food, and two other tables that were seated after us got food before us, so that was the reason for one less star. We only had 4 people in our party, and 2 were kids plates. Overall I would come back! I really would like to try their French toast, which seems to be their specialty! read more

Oh my gravy - Yelp does it again! This weekend I found myself taking a very spontaneous road trip to the Portland area and, of course, a few hours into the drive my tummy-tum was growling. I hopped onto my Yelp app to look for the best breakfast in nearby Longview, WA and up popped the Corner Cafe. I immediately (yet cautiously) swerved off the next exit and soon I was there. Located in a fairly non-descript, semi-modern office building I wasn't even sure I was at the right place when I pulled into their parking lot. But soon I saw it, so yay! I went inside and was immediately comforted by the very obvious social distancing and safety measures they had taken in their fairly small space. The staff were wearing masks, masks were required of customers and there were clear plastic barriers between each table. They also made sure that those who had to wait for a table (including me) stood in a safe area away from other customers (and each other). After about 10 minutes my table was ready. By this time I was ravenously hungry as I'd been forced to endure the many amazing smells coming from their kitchen. Since I was in a gravy mood (I mean, when am I not?) I ordered the breakfast casserole: a deceptively small-looking bowl packed with potatoes, eggs, sausage, cheese and - of course - topped with gravy. Hey, I didn't mention anything about healthy eating, did I? Because I'm glutton for indigestion, I also ordered a side of one piece of their legendary coconut French Toast. Yes, COCONUT and wow was it AMAZING. Imagine perfectly-cooked French Toast with a thin-yet-delightful layer of toasted coconut shreds on the outside. Now imagine yourself putting a big glob of butter on this hot slice o' goodness and then (per the server's evil suggestion) squirting on a decent glob of coconut syrup. (Now imagine the nap you may or may not need after eating this amazing breakfast.) It probably goes without saying that I couldn't finish the entire breakfast. But it was sooooo delicious I definitely gave it my best try. And before I go try to continue sleeping off this meal that I ate 48 hours ago, I want to also say how fantastic the service was and how affordable this meal was too. They have a number of seating tables inside & out (we sat inside since I was raining & early). Our waitress was welcoming & seemed to know a number of her guests. We were waiting for our oldest to arrive so the waitress was patient & didn't try to rush us out. She took our drink order (coffee & soda (they had both Coke & Pepsi options)) & delivered to our table just as quick. Our daughter arrived & food order was taken right away. Great customer service and excellent prices!!! This is a very small Cafe, so expect a bit of a wait if it's during peak times. We were told it would be about a 15 minute wait to get a table inside or we could sit outside, which we chose to do. It was rather chilly when the sun was behind the clouds, but that's fall in Washington!I would love to suggest some small outdoor heaters! I'm on a mission to find the best corned beef hash in the area and sadly, this was not it.  It wasn't out of a can, but the corned beef was extremely dry and overcooked. This is literally the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 and I'm just one person, who only tried one menu item.  My husband had their tuna melt lunch special and said it was good. They have a large selection of breakfast and lunch foods. Again, the service was phenomenal and they kept up with all customers considering how busy they were.
