Let me tell you about this little hidden gem of a restaurant. I was only in town for one day and was looking for a good breakfast spot. The Indy Way Diner popped up in my search so I gave it a try. I'm so glad I did. The front and back of house staff were welcoming and personable. They were very friendly and accommodating. I would come back again and again just because of how nice these folks were. Thank you. I ordered the Corned Beef Skillet and substituted hash browns for the diced potatoes. What a great meal. Everything came out piping hot and delicious. Do yourself a favor and get a side of the country gravy. You won't be disappointed. Sure, you might need a nap after a meal like this but you'll sleep well knowing you just ate something special. :) read more

Who would even think a rinky dink truck stop, situated in a Chevron station would have such tasty food? Well...I would! Swung into the Indy Way on my way home from Portland cause I had another 1.5 hours to my trip and I was hungry and needed a bathroom. The place was pretty empty, so I had the pick of seating. The restaurant was clean, the bathrooms were clean and the convenience store was clean. So nice. The waitress was very friendly, to the point that I almost wanted to tell her to simmer down. But, I was tired and just decided to enjoy the friendly banter of someone who was on her feet all day. And, I did end up appreciating her zippy personality. Some folks just aren't friendly anymore, so it's nice to encounter someone who doesn't scrimp on smiles and kind words. The menu is substantial. Lots to choose from so I ended up with Chicken Club Sandwich, with a side of tater tots. They were out of avocado, but offered to substitute with guacamole, which was fine with me. Service was quick, food was hot and tasty. Nice, crispy chicken breast and the tots were crunchy just how I like them. I had to take half home, which made my husband very happy. Don't hesitate to make a pit stop into the Indy Way. The food and service is excellent, and the waitress will be very generous with her smiles. read more

Food is great, server was incredibly rude. She yelled at my mom with dementia. When we are leaving and I was trying to explain/ apologize she said, " I don't care what she has!". We will never go back! My parents were regulars there for years and they have never been treated like that. read more

Finally I find a diner in this town that can reliably serve good breakfast. I've tried the chicken fried steak, pigs in a blanket, omelettes, coffee; it's all good! Every time. I would have made this 5/5 but one of the times I was there I hear a waitress (very loudly) say the word "motherf***er" while discussing other customer with another waitress. For a moment it was kinda funny, there were no kids around and she seemed to not be doing it purposefully in earshot of customers....but then it happened again and it was awkward. I'll definitely be back, just never with children. read more

Well, after a long while, we finally got a chance to eat here again and probably won't ever go back. The inside has a bit of an upgrade including new booths & chairs. Restroom situation still the same but kind of impossible to do anything with that. Hubby and I got the same steak and salmon meal only 2/$30 now. He ordered his steak medium but it came well done. The salmon was seriously the worst I've ever had. It was dry, and overcooked/burnt. Didn't even taste like salmon. Just a bitter charred flavor. The corn was from frozen I think, and was tough and flavorless. The salad and the mashed potatoes though, were top notch. Unfortunately I can't get the burned taste out of my mouth and am SO regretting having spent the $$! read more

Amazing experience at this restaurant. Firstly, when the food came it was like 2' high. So much food on the plate. Our food was so good. We just had cheeseburgers and fries, but it was great! Then, to our surprise a white haired guy named Mike, picked up our tab. We never knew. When he walked by he said 'Have the day you want'. We smiled and said you too. Thank you Yelp for this dinner recommendation! Heading south toward Portland around dinner time my driver Mark C. announced that it was time for his navigator (me) to find dinner 'not too fancy' 'not too expensive' that 'had diner-like food' to please both of us. It was a bit of drive off the I 5 and pulling into the parking lot you notice it is a hybrid diner/gas station/convenience store. Our hostess!/waitress was a doll and our food was brought out hot and fast. What can I say.. The food was good.. Really good. My Hawaiian Chicken sandwich was flavorful and juicy and Mark C. did not stand a chance to try a bite. And just when I thought it could not get any better I had th the option of three different types of fries. Opted for curley seasoned and each bite was a mouthfu of fried goodness. Mark C.thought he died and went to heaven when our waitress told him he could get tater tots. Some might question this 4 star rating but the food was well balanced both in taste and flavor and it was just what this weary traveler was looking for to refuel. Extremely rude old ladies working, lose the attitude or continue losing customers. This used to be a good spot for a home cooked style meal, but has gone down hill substantially in the last few years. Slow service and very poor social skills. Was looking for a new place to brunch in the Longview/Kelso area, and after checking Yelp, decided to give this place a try, despite there being no published menu. Wasn't disappointed. It's a throw-back, no frills, truck-stop diner that shares space with a mini mart grocery/deli in a Chevron station in the industrial area of Longview. Nine counter stools and about as many four-seat booths, all full, with a short wait to be seated mid-morning on a Friday. I'd estimate 75-80% local clientele. Only real down sides were parking, wait time and the "neighborhood". Wait staff was friendly and attentive, despite running their tails off. Coffee was good, but not quite as good as that at Peper's 49er up the road at Castle Rock. Menu was is pretty basic (poor quality pics attached - sorry!), but everything was priced very reasonably, given the portion sizes. We all did breakfast/brunch and I had my usual steak and eggs (w/hash browns and toast). Although the meal size itself was a little smaller than I'm used to (6 oz steak and 2 eggs, instead of 8 / 3), was cooked perfectly to order, and priced accordingly. The "boss" ordered mushroom and cheese omelet, that came with three BIG pancakes, al of which she said were done perfectly, and again, priced right. My brother had the "Irish Skillet" (w/toast) which he said was great, and again portion size vs price was excellent. None of us noted any grease to speak of, and, looking around, other folks' meals were as hearty and appetizing. It's an easy 10 minute side trip off I-5, just far enough to be inconvenient, but if you're passing through for any reason, it's worth the stop. read more

We were driving from Portland to Longview on a Saturday at around 8am along Hwy 30 and we attempted to stop for breakfast at restaurants in Linnton, Warren, St Helens and Rainier - no one was open except Village Inn who had a pretty long wait. Have stopped here a handful of times, and always found it good. Today I ordered the grilled chicken club sandwich ($9) and fries. The waitress greeted me immediately, and didn't mind that I preferred a booth over the counter, even though it was just me. When my sandwich arrived, I inspected each layer to see how the ingredients looked. Bun=soft and good Avocado=green and freshly sliced Bacon=crispy, not overdone Swiss cheese=melted Chicken=grilled well Tomato=thinly sliced and fresh. The fries are the special seasoned ones. I was stuffed. The waitress also offered me a to-go cup for my iced tea, which is nice because a drink is $2.29. Yes, it's a diner, attached to a convenience store, at a gas station. This place is awesome because they offer tator tots on the menu. The waitress was very helpful. I ordered the prime rib dip sandwich and my guest (anne) ordered something different, a Hawaiian chicken sandwich! Iced tea is very good. The tator tots are awesome, I highly recommend them. The prime rib sandwich with Au jus was good, it just needs more meat on the sandwich. Anne enjoyed her sandwich and the curly fries were well seansoned. It was the end of my day after delivering nearby. I saw the truck parking next to the store, pulled in and went inside to get a cold drink only to discover there was a very clean diner with an amazing menu and great service. Yes, I was hungry too. After chatting with the waitress, she recommended the Halibut and French fries and she was right. It was perfectly cooked. I decided to stay overnight so I had a chance to have very nice breakfast the next morning while getting ready for a reload. Another wonderful waitres was at the helm. Overall this place is a good little stop on the way to the coast. They offer breakfast and lunch/dinner foods. I opted for the omlet and it wasn't the best thing in the world. The hasbrowns that came with it were interesting, they are not your typical denny's hashbrowns. I think they may have been freshly cut and made there, and they were pretty good. The server, although her words were friendly, you could tell she was done and in a bad mood. Definitely not 'happy to help' unless you want a dirty fake smile when you ask for anything.
