The salads...fantastic! I ordered a chicken cobb salad and enjoyed every bite! It had generous portions of chicken, egg, avocado and blue cheese. First, the food was delicious and there was a lot of it! The restaurant was very open and welcoming and the vibe was great. I gave only three stars because our server was not attentive. It wasn't very busy and we could see the other servers helping their customers and bringing their food out promptly. Maybe she was inexperienced? Having a bad day? It was 95 degrees outside and we were ""forgotten" for water and drink refills, food being delivered to our table without a long wait, and getting our check. Will we be back? I've been here two more times since the first visit, I really wanted to like this place, but the food is just not good. Every single piece of meat I have tried, pretty much everything they offer at this point, has been so dry it's almost inedible. The steak sandwich was the worst one. Cheap, weird wrinkly little bits of old, dry lunch meat on a crappy roll. Won't be going back. The last time, there was also one waitress working the entire place during the lunch hour. I can't believe that someone would decorate a restaurant in early industrial. I felt like I was having a meal in a construction site. The restaurant is sparsely furnished in a cavernous space with warning stickers all over it. some of them were real, I think. maybe such as the one at the foot of the stairs. others were not. Probably. The servers were friendly and pleasant. The food was terrible. I noticed on the menu that most entrees were offered with chipotle as an add on. My companion had chipotle sauce on his pulled pork. The sauce was tasty. I did not choose this option for my Mac and cheese. the Mac and cheese was served in a giant bowl. it was topped with potato chips which were good in you like that kind of chips. The Mac and cheese was unbelievably bland and served cold. I ate maybe a half cup of it and took the rest home. The remainder is still untouched in the fridge. At the beginning of the meal we had difficulty locating any employee to ask for the code to get into the restroom. Server infrequently stopped at the table and not once brought or even offered a refill for a beverage, without our asking for one. There was also a miscommunication about to-go containers at the end of the meal and when I asked for one again, her reply had an unprofessional (read snarky) tone. I had to re-review this establishment. My parents go ALL the time. I go a few times more than expected. Let's start with the customer service. Dustin recently served our large party, for a work Christmas dinner. He was outstanding, and had a great energy about him. I think the restaurant really has a great chill atmosphere. It's laid-back. But in the best possible way, because it's easy to be a professional OR casual meeting place for groups. But obviously the food's the most important. I think it's all pretty high quality. But it's the weird selection that makes this rise above other establishments. They'll do a lot of unique things and take risks. Which I love. At the end of the day, this is a crowd-pleaser. I don't personally come a lot, because it's not exactly something I love myself. But I don't hate it, and will come when invited. read more

The service could've been better: we had to prompt for beverages, & all I wanted was water The Thai chicken salad sounded good, but hmmm, perhaps I should've ordered the fish & chips. The salad looked good: a BIG scoop of thick, rectangular shaped chunks of grilled chicken that had been put into a thick, peanut sauce, then placed on top of a bed of fresh spinach leaves with roasted red bell peppers, a little bit of cabbage & a few cucumber slices. It was served with a vinaigrette type dressing. The grilled red peppers were good, but the chicken was dry. Yes, the char on the chicken tasted good, but again, the chicken being dry made it a bit chewy. Come time to pay my check & had to request it be redone as someone else's beverage was added. Steak frites are off the chart! Very large and comes with this creamy delicate sauce that pairs really well with the steak and frites. I think the steak is a ribeye. I've ordered this 3 times medium rare and they haven't failed me yet. Always comes out at the perfect temperature. Side soup of my choice is the clam chowder. Mill city grill, one of the best, most amazing locations to dine in Washington. My wife and I have eaten here for a very, very, long time and somehow I had not written a review yet. The environment and ambiance is that of safety and wood cutting, the food is crazy tasty yet filling, the service is swift no matter how busy they are. My wife and I normally get the super cheesy Mac and cheese or the pizzas! Sometimes we get the everything in a bowls or wings. One things for sure, we always get the chips, they are magic! For as long as we have been coming here Danielle has been here as the host and she has always done an amazing job! They are always very busy, so good for them. It's also the excuse they always make for bad service or mistaken orders. There aren't a lot of options in Longview and 3.5 stars is about as good as it gets around here, so this would be one of my favorites if not for the consistently bad service we have received. (Not answering phones, forgetting our order, rudeness, etc) The pizzas are 18.99 a piece (plus 2.99 to add bacon) for a 12 inch/8 slice pizza, and they are OK. We ordered two for pickup, asked to leave jalapeños off half the pizza and was told "we're too busy to do that, you can leave them all off and have them on the side or have them on the entire pizza." Too busy to do slightly less work and satisfy a paying customer? It's not like I'm asking anyone to learn fractions, just don't put jalapenos on one half so my child can enjoy it. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. For starters our waitress recommended the Mac and cheese balls, they were ridiculous and I'm glad I stopped at two! One star or two stars. That's my dilemma tonight. The service was the absolute worst I have ever experienced in my life. The spaghetti was very good and so was the beef stroganoff. They were a 5 star but with the service in the negatives, I can't push up more than two at best. It was a seat yourself night and we did just that. After sitting there for an extremely long period of time, we finally asked if we had a server. The hostess (she called herself that) about bit my head off. However, we wouldn't have asked had we not noticed several other tables who had come in after us had already had their drinks delivered and orders taken. Eventually, our server appeared and by that time one of the people with us was having issues with very low blood sugar. We asked for crackers or something. She was not happy she had to interrupt taking our order to get crackers as she indicated there were others there waiting for their orders too. What? The server never returned to our table except for once after about an hour to let us know our food would be next. Well, it wasn't. We waited so long for our food we had to ask another server for sugar to try to bring the blood sugar up. We finally got our meal close to an 1 1/2 hour after we had entered. The young man who served it was very pleasant. It was about that time then our server came over and asked how the blood sugar was doing. Our bill was brought and paid and I left my credit card on the table. When I realized that about 5 minutes later, we questioned the staff. They said it wasn't there. Sorry, only place we'd been and we had just left. I don't care how good the food was, we will never go back. As I reread what I wrote I settled on one star. Absolutely amazing! We were visiting Longview a few Saturdays back to buy a refrigerator at Lowe's. We've never been to downtown Longview, or even stopped anywhere in town. We checked the reviews on Yelp, and despite only receiving an average of 3.5 stars, we decided to try the Mill City Grill. What a pleasant surprise! We would give the Mill City Grill (MCG) 6 stars if we could! There were three of us, and so we sampled a lot of things, since so much of the menu sounded great. Nothing disappointed us! I'll start with the garlic truffle fries. This was the ONLY item that we would have made a suggestion - maybe a little more garlic. Other than that, they were good. We tried 'baby bowls' of both the soup of the day - chicken curry - and the pork butt stew, an MCG 'signature dish'. The pork butt stew was similar to a Chile Verde soup, and it was really good. But the chicken curry soup was even better! The spices and ingredients really came together well. Two of us ordered sandwiches with the side salad substitution instead of fries. The salads were amazing! Extremely fresh, with an excellent presentation. And large! We ended up sharing the salads with our third party member, since the salads were so big. At this point, we were thinking, 'Wow. We might need to find reasons to come to Longview more often.' The sandwiches (a Cuban and the Steak Dip) were outstanding. My wife ordered her Steak Dip plain (no cheese, no onions or mushrooms). Our server came back to ask us if that's how she wanted it, just to make sure after giving the order to the chef. She wanted it to be more like a classic French Dip, which is served plain. It was really good! Our third party ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the house-made chips. She really enjoyed her pulled pork sandwich, but the chips were great. Normally, I avoid house-made chips - they rarely impress me. But these were really good, with some great seasoning. But I think the most outstanding item we tried were the sautéed mushrooms as an appetizer. These were so excellent that we asked for a second order to go! Sautéed mushrooms with white wine, roasted garlic, roasted red pepper and Parmesan, served with garlic toast. This should be marked as a Mill City Grill signature dish; we've never enjoyed sautéed mushrooms so much. We asked about dessert. There were four options, including two we tried - the carrot cake and the peanut butter pie. These two desserts are made by another business in town (Diana's or Dianne's?). Anyway, the carrot cake was good, but the peanut butter pie was amazing! We're already planning another trip to Longview. Im sad As an African American male taking my bi racial family to dinner we went to mill city grill in Longview Wa for dinner FTR this isn't the 1st time visiting this place :.... Unfortunately we were treated with such disrespect. Our 17 year old daughter couldn't finish her food because she was embarrassed btw who is Caucasian noticed it for the 1st time in her life noticed the racism so she took her 1/2 sisters to the car who didn't finish there meals because of it and because they are of color to the car and couldn't believe how we were treated. The waitress spent more time with boyfriend who showed up and picked her up spun her around. With her legs around him then the table of 6 right in front of her With empty beverages and no silverware. Not even asking if we needed anything but asking other tables if they were ok. Hmm.. all in all the waitress Then has the audacity to ask me if we wanted separate checks after I already said I'm taking my family to dinner!! . It sad to see there's no longer many family friendly places to eat in Longview. but honestly after having lunch here I thought it would be ok to eat here with my family. It make me sad to say this is not the place for people of color or bi-racial families to eat. Sadly Even the manager tried to play it off like it's normal.. I'm sorry to say as once a union town / supporting the community I will travel to Vancouver wa to take my family where they treat everyone the same : so sad that the community i work in doesn't respect people of color. I picked up food for lunch today. Part of my order was their Mac n cheese. My wife and I come to this restaurant often but this was her first time ordering their Mac n cheese. When I got it home she thought it may have smelled weird but she continued to eat it. She took about 10 bites before she thought the cream sauce was curdled. Not even 30 minutes later she is now sick. I immediately called the restaurant and talked to someone named Bree. She told me that it wasn't there food and that food poisoning takes 8 hours to kick in per the health department. It must have been something else she ate. This is the first thing she ate all day. The cheese sauce is definitely curdled after a few friends and I examined it. Also for Bree, it says you can get food poisoning within 30 minutes of eating something. I've been to MSG several times and have enjoyed the ahi tacos, chicken Caesar salad & Maui burger. All were tasty & prices are reasonable. The made-in-house chips are a bonus! My only complaint is that when we ordered dinner I ordered a meal to go to take with us when we left for someone unable to join and the meal was brought out in a bag when we were served dinner.
