How have I never been here?! Well, it's far away is the primary reason, but now that I've stopped in for an amazing breakfast, I know it's well worth the trek and plan to come back soon for lunch or dinner. Friendly folks and a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere were what I first noticed. Every breakfast option seemed very positive making the decision difficult. I ended up choosing the brisket hash and I think I chose well. This humongous plate includes perfectly prepared breakfast potatoes, with generous chunks of forktender brisket interspersed throughout, then two eggs, and finally a magnificent sausage gravy over the top. It was glorious. The potatoes have a candied Anaheim chili, which I really enjoyed, and in retrospect would like to have had even more of the chili, but this was a great enhancement. My breakfast companion had the buttermilk pancakes, which included three large, delicious, buttermilk pancakes, a berry compote, two eggs and bacon. Very tasty pancakes (I'm very fussy about buttermilk pancakes because I make them well myself so I can sometimes be critical of others.) All positive critique for these cakes! The coffee was very good and they did a good job of keeping our cups filled. We were there on a Sunday morning at opening time and I was concerned that it might get very busy, but it wasn't too bad at all. Not overly loud so it was great to be able to conduct a conversation and enjoy our breakfast. My companion is a cinnamon roll connoisseur, but since neither of us could even come close to finishing our generous proportioned breakfasts, we ordered a cinnamon roll to go. She has reported back that it was beyond amazingly good! The only negative was on the receipt, which gives guidance on gratuities for 20%, 25%, and 30%, which seems, perhaps, presumptive. I consider myself to be a generous tipper, but seldom go higher than 22% for magnificent service. Management might want to reconsider this suggestive message on receipts that are already near the high end for purchased meals and drinks. read more

Top 5 Absolute WORST dining experiences my husband and I have EVER had. After we were seated, three other tables were seated, and had their orders placed before we were even given the opportunity to place a drink order. 40 minutes after we were seated, our appetizers arrived. $14 for TWO fritters and another $10 for 6 cold mozzarella sticks. Meanwhile, the tables seated after us were already getting their meals .... Finally, over an hour after placing it, our order shows up. Not only was it NOT what we ordered, it was burned! But by the time a server came back to check on us it had been another half an hour. In the end, we refused the order. They charged us for the appetizers and ine drink, we were not compensated. We spent $29 and change on 2 appetizers and wasted an hour and a half at this place before driving across the street to a market and getting a frozen pizza for $11. We don't have too many options in North County when it comes to dining out, but I'm glad that we have Fargher Lakehouse. It's clean, friendly, and more upscale than the typical bar & grill that we usually have. The food and drinks are really good, and only cost a little bit more than driving into town. I'd rather save my time and my gas and support a local business than drive 20 minutes away to get to the next closest place. The burgers and fries are delicious and the cider on tap was very refreshing. read more

So super unfortunate as this place is only 1 mile from our house. Finally something delicious pepperoni pizza! Tonight- different story. Def not the same. Like several reviewers before me very small portion sizes. It's not a cheap date night hahaha bill came to just over $100 for the 3 of us. Came here a while back just to try it. I think 35 bucks for ribeye and sides is a great price. Followed directions and didn't murder the meat so I was happy. Side were fine. Service was attentive. I've been going there with family and friends since they opened. Originally excellent food, service and atmosphere. Really wanted to see it succeed. Weekend breakfasts were another nice experience. Sadly, all has been lost in the last few years. Food is still good, not excellent, and expensive for what you get. Service has been OK, not great, but tolerable. Owner doesn't seem to care about running all the old regulars away, particularly when he brings in "artists" (often of very questionable talent) to plug in an amped up speaker and blast their songs so loud during the dinner hour that one cannot even have a nice, relaxing conversation with someone sitting with them at the same table. I've eating here several times and typically experience very slow service. The last time we went we stood at the door waiting to be seated. No one came. I went into the bar and found the server. She didn't offer to help, just said she would be with us shortly. We stood around for several more minutes and finally left. There were two people at the bar and no one else in the dining area. After spending the day hiking out at Moulton Falls & Lucia Falls we were ready for "lupper" and stopped in around 4 p.m. on a Saturday. There were a few other customers there and the food came out fast. Our server was very nice and checked on us just the right amount and never let our water glasses get low. Having skipped lunch we were starving and shared the Lakehouse Spinach Dip w/Smoked Salmon...wow, is that tasty with plenty of chunks of smoked salmon in it and served with grilled naan bread. We also split the Club Sandwich w/slaw and they were nice enough to put it on 2 plates and we both got a heaping helping of slaw and pickle spears. The sandwich was STACKED...chock full of fresh ingredients and very good. Of course, that was too much food for the two of us so we ended up taking about a 1/2 cup of the dip home and half the sandwich & slaw. Fargher Lakehouse, a charming lakehouse full service restaurant out in the woods. No there is no longer a lake though there once was one. What remains is the most charming log cabin restaurant with the friendliest staff. Seriously, each time I go there I almost get ready to go home with the waitress thinking she must be my long lost sister, each time, with each wait personnel! One of the waitresses even told us the most amusing and personal story when I asked if she had any beer recommendations from their full service bar...and she told us about the time her husband asked her to be a judge in a beer tasting contest, which by the way she does not enjoy drinking. Won't spoil the punch line but it was funny! Wish I could remember her name...though do remember she is originally from California and transplanted in the area many years after meeting her husband. But I digress, the restaurant while comfortable is very nice. The star of course is the food. Delicious and well portioned, every single dish. My favorites being the smoked salmon dip and accompanied by bread, usually fried. One of the friendly regulars gave us a tip that she prefers it served with just warmed up bread, not fried so...we tried it this way the second time visiting and it was delicious also! Also love the fresh fresh seasonal veges...first time brussel sprouts. My friends had the meatloaf, the burgers, some other dishes...and they all looked amazing. I know they were enjoyed because I did not see any leftovers the next day (yes, there was enough to take out)! Hours are all over place have tried to eat here at least 5 times. Finally stopped today says open at 3 waited a few minutes after - finally we are going to be able to try the food - NOPE! Only 4 happy hour items on the menu til 4 - all fried foods! Asked the server if there were salads or other items - she said she didn't know it was only her 3rd day....We left guess not meant to be to eat there. I'm giving it a 4 star because I'm like the Paula Abdul on Yelp... I would like to start off with how cool and unique this place is considering that it's in a rural area. The food is very good but the starters seems a bit small. For example, we ordered the Beer Cheese plate, that comes with a beer cheese fondue, a pretzel, small bites of steak and caramelized pieces of apple. The plate itself was very flavorful which was a plus, however, the size was a negative. The drinks were very good, they were strong but they were good, so that is a plus. The negative side is that it took 20mins (and I know because I decided to start timing after 10mins - after the order)... It took a very long time for the drinks to come and when they did; about 10mins later we received our main plates. Something you should keep in mind is that it's expensive. For example, I spent a total of $89 on 3 mixed drinks, a beer, an appetizer and two of their main plates which was a burger w/fries and a tuna melt w/salad. The Lakehouse is fairly new. We hadn't stopped before because we thought it was just a tavern. Boy, were we wrong! This is the best restaurant in north Clark County. Who would have thought you could find a real chef and this kind of food in such a small community. The inside is gorgeous. It's very nicely decorated and the seating is comfortable. We chose a booth. Our order included the meatloaf dinner and the cheese shells. Both were delicious. The meatloaf was absolutely the best I had ever tasted. I had read some of the other reviews and the menu must have changed because I would have been tempted by some of the other offerings mentioned in previous reviews. Came here last night for my birthday dinner with my husband, we had been eyeballing this place for a while seeing as its a 10minute drive north from our house. It exceeded all expectations!! We had the beer cheese fondue for our appetizer and it was delicious! Comes with pretzels, sausages & steak bites.. amazing. We both had the Raspberry cider that was on tap and it was amazing! For our mains i got the bacon wrapped meatloaf & my husband got the ribeye... he ate the whole thing, im so thankful i saved half of mine bc its JUST as good the second day!! I've been sitting on this for awhile now. A friend was visiting from out of town and we decided to make Fargher Lakehouse our dinner destination. We ordered the cheese fondue with a soft pretzel as our appetizer. The bartender brought us our dish but informed us they were out of pretzels so she substituted with naan bread - didn't ask us if that was ok, or if we wanted to change our app order, or anything. The naan bread was adequate and we continued on with our meal. About 30 minutes later an employee comes in lot the bar area and sits near us eating the same appetizer we ordered, WITH A PRETZEL! I said, "oh I thought you were out of pretzels"? The employees (the one eating their meal and the bartender) just laughed and said, "yup looks like he's eating your pretzel". I'm so disappointed that this could even happen. The bartender did not offer to discount our appetizer, or even apologize. How appalling that the staff would not serve paying guests items on the menu and then come out and eat it in front of us. And then laugh at us about it. I'm sorry to say but I think this is the last time we eat here. It is just not the same since it recently changed ownership. Had the meatloaf, it was ok (little dry and small portion) but potatoes were good, but they're potatoes. Burger was a "b" - had a decent bun and meat was good but nothing spectacular. However, $20 is pretty high for a product I could get at a decent fast food joint. Breakfast was ok - only thing that stood out is the bacon. Waffle was ok but a small portion and the hash browns were grated to fine and cooked dry so they separated strangely making for weird consistency. Eggs average. Just is not stand out quality. I believe our breakfast for four with four cups of coffee was over $100 PLUS TAX and Tip. No thanks. read more
