I ordered to go because I wasn't feeling well and wanted some chicken soup. I also used the coupon code that they have on their website for a free half sandwich. My order was ready on time. When I got home and opened the bag I was surprised at how small the soup was for the price. Also the bread that came with it looked like someone had just torn it off versus cutting it. The broth of the soup was flavorful but there was literally only ONE piece of chicken in it. I was definitely disappointed. The sandwich looked good. I did not like the bread so I basically switched it to some I had on hand. It did taste good and I would get that. I've been to many Panera breads and have always had a good experience. Not so much at this location. Was looking for a place to get a cup of coffee and something to eat after an appointment at 9:30 am. Panera was next door to where I was at, so I decided to walk over there for coffee and a bagel. I order a whole grain bagel with cream cheese and coffee. I'm told they are out of whole grain bagels. I tried a sprouted bagel. Again out. I asked what they did have: plain, cheese, cherry. So, I ordered a spinach artichoke souffle. Out, again. Next was a ham and cheese souffle. No go..all they have is cheese only. My last attempt was the chicken and avocado on whole wheat wrap. Bingo, they had it!!! I got my coffee cup and my buzzer. I had my choice of coffee and decided on the regular roast. But when I went to add half and half to my coffee, they were out! I mentioned it to the woman at the counter and she said she would look into if they have any. What? How do you not have cream for coffee at a coffee bar?!?! After a few minutes, my buzzer goes off and I get my wrap. Presentation was definitely lacking when I picked up a huge place with a small wrap on one side of the plate. Made me wonder if something was missing on this big plate with a little wrap. After all this, the wrap was pretty good. Warm, fresh wrap with egg, avocado and slight spicy chicken. The coffee was really week, which was ok, since I didn't have any creamer. It tasted more like water with a hint of coffee. This was my 1st trip to this Panera and my 1st breakfast at a Panera. We are a Muslim household so we only eat halal meats. Last week we ordered a Caesar salad with no chicken. When the guy handed me the salad it had chicken so I told him we had a salad with no chicken. He took it and said he would take it off. When he gave it back I asked if it was a fresh salad or if he just took the chicken off and he assured me it was fresh. We drove off and later found a piece of chicken still in it. Awesome iced coffee! I have the 9.00 a month subscription and it more than pays for itself. The staff at the Jefferson location are always awesome whether I do "rapid pick up" or curbside. Pastries and bagels are always fresh and the selection is better the early in the morning you get there. They also have by far the best and freshest breakfast sandwiches. I love the brioche with a perfectly over easy egg and cheddar cheese, just be warned you'll need a bib but if you love a perfectly cooked runny egg this is sandwich for you. We decided to have a small diaper shower for my coworkers na s me living a theme called it Bagels and babies. I needed bagels to feed about 20 ppl. I stopped by Panera because it was close to my job. I walked in and it smells amazing. It smells of fresh baked bread and the display is filled with beautiful, delectable looking pastries. Once it was my turn I told the young lady what I needed (which I wasn't too sure). She was very patient. I got 1.5 dozen bagels. Mix and match. There was only 2 blue berry bagels and she dropped one I just picked another one. The honey walnut cream cheese is very good and I don't even care for it but I will get it from there The service was very good and quick. It's a good thing I don't live too close because the monthly unlimited coffee deal would probably get me. Years ago when they first started building this location I was genuinely excited. A fast and healthy option in an area I frequent? How that go wrong? Well, in the beginning they were great. Everything seemed fresh and it was all tasty. That eventually all went down hill. It seems someone must've made some cut backs. The menu has changed and what's replaced it seems to be less quality. I preferred a chicken sandwich with chicken that looks like actual sliced chicken breasts. Today, I got a chipotle chicken avocado melt and let me tell you...disappointed is not the word! I sat in the drive thru longer than needed just to get a sandwich with processed chicken thrown on it and sloppily prepared. I paid $7 for a half of a sandwich that I never took one bite of. I love Panera! So I ALWAYS get a 2 for meal and you should to. That way you don't have to endure the stress of choosing one or the other. My faves are the tomato mozzarella Sammy, broccoli cheddar soup, and the strawberry summer salad. So cool stuff, they have an app where you can order your food to go and it will be at the door for pick up. So if you need a quick lunch, whoop there it is. Also, they know their baked goods are crack, it's totally why they give you that piece of bread with your meal, it's a lure. I am not eating today. I'm here with a friend who was hungry for soup and I'm just having a soda. I had to use the ladies room and that was a big mistake. It smells so bad of urine, I almost threw up. I didn't go, so now I'm sitting here and have to pee which is uncomfortable. I told the employee that it stinks in there but I don't think that strong of a smell can be cleaned out. The green goddess Cobb salad also had chicken and avocado but the day we visited it unfortunately also featured a piece of plastic from some packaging in the kitchen. Took this to the counter-employee went to report to a manager who never came out. They have a new drink machine here that features all their teas decaf and otherwise and shows the calorie count and teaspoons of sugar in the colas! "Restaurant runs like clockwork, clean and organized". Although I don't dine at chain/franchised restaurants a whole lot because I truly believe Baton Rouge has been flourishing with fabulous local restaurants. It's interesting to see people flock here (for lunch especially). Of course I know why! Service is fast, staff is overly efficient and it has to do with them being extremely organized! The food, to me, was extremely cookie-cutter... nothing stood out to me. The egg and turkey sausage sandwich I had was not budding with personality and the Soba Edamame Noodle bowl was salty! Applause goes to the hyper-organization though - this is what makes them super-efficient... yup, they have done it for a long time with many locations around the country doing the same thing! This is not my restaurant of choice, but it another option for those that work remotely and need a place to roost, while working on a laptop/phone. I have had okay experiences here at Panera. I absolutely love their creamy tomato soup, my go-to, but I'm starting to learn I might be lactose intolerant and it just won't sit right with me anymore. The sadness.. This last visit wasn't the best. My order turned out fine, but my boyfriend ordered the steak & argula sandwich and it came out with absolutely zero steak on it. I've never had something like this happen here -- or any of the places I have been to, so I was shocked and my boyfriend certainly wasn't happy about paying $10 for a sandwich and it not coming out right, understandably. I then began to ask a question at the pick up window and the young lady there was rude and walked off while telling her co-worker to get whatever I wanted. She then began speaking about me to the other worker. (I do not think she realized I could hear her) She told her co worker that I had an attitude and I needed to not bother her again. I am on the fence about this place, although it is not my personal preference the visit was good and that is why i give them four stars. The restaurant was super clean and the counter lady greeted us within seconds with a smile. The menu was very bistro style in my opinion and did not offer many things that I am accustomed to eating. We decided on the chicken tortellini and was quite pleased. The portion appeared small, but when we were finished our stomachs were definitely full! I realize they close at 9, so I ordered 40 minutes before close and decided to pick up instead of dine in. I ordered the Frontega Chicken Panini and a cup of soup. Opened it up to eat 30 mins later... the sandwich was completely soggy and about half of the contents of the sandwich were on there. I was eating a soggy chicken and tomato sandwich. I can eat that out of the trashcan for free. Also, the soup was cold. This mess was around $20 which is why this is a 1 star review instead of 2 stars. Sadly, I'll never, ever be back. read more

This was the first and last time we ever order anything from Panera Bread. We ordered from Waitr for dinner tonight 4 grilled cheese macaroni sandwiches with a full salad and 2 tomato soups. The $10 salad we ordered didn't come instead we had a side salad. Now let's talk about our sandwiches. Of the 4 only 2 came on grilled cheese bread. On one they used beget bread so it wasn't even grilled just scooped macaroni on it. The other was on non-grilled wheat bread with a scoop of macaroni. These simple sandwiches couldn't even be made correctly. I paid over $100 for Panera grilled cheese for dinner and got poorly made sandwiches that the employees could have cared less about. Quick, fresh and always made accurately. The menu consists of various soups, salads, sandwiches and paninis. You can even mix and match with their Pick Two option. My favorite pick is the steak Asiago sandwich. I love this flavorful sandwich with horseradish sauce and delicious, crispy bread. At checkout, you will be offered a 99 cent pastry. Go for it!! I especially like the candy cookie. They have a wide variety of baked treats. Pepsi products here, so no diet coke. The staff is always friendly and welcoming. I'm a fan because when I lived in California, these were everywhere. It's nice to see a modern food company make an investment in the Baton Rouge area like this. I like to take my family here as there is something for the kids right when you walk in the door they see the pastry shelf first before we order our main course. If you order a sandwich combo they most often will toss in a $3 pastry for just 99 cents more. They've got a nice selection of drinks to accompany your entree, I like that they have Pelegrino and Perrier, you can only find these at places like Maxwell's or an international market. They have an abundance of freshly brewed coffee's and with that have the brew times on the coffee pots so you know you're getting fresh brewed and not stale old stuff. For all the craziness the south has to offer with big plates of fried foods, gravy and insane desserts. This place is like an oasis in the middle of all that. You won't find fried anything ont he menu, no cheese covered french fries, big huge burgers, fried fish platters (none of that!) Panera offers a healthy variety from the typical chicken noodle and tomato soups to the adventurous Lemon Orzo or Kale infused soups or sandwiches. Going to their website, they promote health happy menu and if you're an adventurous foodie like me, and sometimes get tired of burgers and pizza, this will force you to try something new and hold on, it might be healthy and good for you. I don't work in marketing, but I must say, this place is worth a visit. They make your entree's to order, to torture you, they will give you your pastry / cookie / treat on a plate (or in a bag if you like) to take with you along with your drink cup. You wander down the corridor to the drink machine, fill up on soda, standard teas, and some unique ones like the Hibiscus Tea is nice. Get your condiments and then take a seat. They will bring the food to you. The dining room resembles that of a combination of a big living room, dining room and I must say the library. You know that feeling you get going into the library of "you better be quiet or else"? that's the feeling I get here. There are dividers, and chairs and tables scattered about. Almost like there are nooks and crannies to hide yourself or sit near other people. Last time I was there, a family was playing a board game they brought while having their lunch. It has that kind of vibe that is welcoming and not foreboding. Maybe a nice place to hide from the summer sun (provided you buy something every now and then I suppose). They have outdoor seating which is probably pretty nice in the autumn or in the summer nights provided you like heat humidity and have bug spray handy, otherwise the black rattan chairs and tables look very inviting. I'd say that Panera bread is a nice addition to the area. Panera does have that feel of being a "more expensive" establishment, but that's the area on this side of town. It's across the street from the most expensive gas station in town and Town Center is down the street. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because while the look and polish of the place is great, the process and execution is not always stellar. My experiences of late unfortunately with the great layout and design of the restaurant, which I love. I think the experience of a restaurant is as much or more important than the food itself. Yet we wouldn't be here if we weren't hungry right? You have to keep a watchful eye on what they make, make sure it is up to the standard that is on their menu. If you don't feel it's right, then you have to say something right? My wife ordered the Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich, (picture #38) in the gallery. And the bacon was abysmal, like shiny and abundant as in their menu selection. I complained and the guy just told me that was the standard amount for that sandwich. Lesson learned, don't order bacon anything from a company that isn't from the south. We know bacon here, looks like they have some learning to do. I ordered the Lemon Orzo Bread Bowl, while mine didn't come with a Lemon Wheel, it was still pretty good. I have ordered the special soups each time I've gone here and every selection was a winner. So I thoroughly recommend the soups. The sandwiches are good, just check what you get, unfortunately staff (management nowhere to be seen) isn't very willing to change things, maybe it was just my one time visit, The breads are very good, the bagels are great, the pastries are just as you'd expect. It is priced a little higher, but you have to expect to pay a little more for the quality of the food you get. They also have a drive thru, I'm not a big fan of drive thru's I won't hold that against them. A lot of people seem to like it. All in All Panera is a pretty good place to get a lite fare lunch that if you want is more on the healthy side. read more

Having a Greek Salad and not even close to Greek is what Panera does wrong. The problem is that its in the middle of nowhere. Now I have lately turned vegetarian and the pesto pasta was okayish. Not that there is a word like that, but I would like to think of the pesto like that. So, my experience with Panera Breads was not really good. It looked interesting but its portions were really small. Especially if you go for the two for menu, its not really half of it also. I have posted some pictures, the place looks fine. There is always an exorbitant wait and today, after being in the drive through for over 20 minutes and finally reaching the place to order, she told me it was going to be 30 minutes before I could even place my order. Said I could come inside instead. When I questioned this logic, she got aggravated and told me to go ahead and place my order. They clearly just didn't want the hassle of more customers. I understand people are short staffed, but they're continued poor customer service is a reflection of terrible management at this location.
