Panera gets more and more disappointing each time I go. This time I went and order a 1/2 a sandwich for my bc and I along with a cup of soup and a cup of Mac and cheese. First off, it took 20 minutes to make and everyone that ordered after me somehow got theirs first. When we get home and open it up, we were very disappointed. I guess this is what you get for 20 minutes and $25...1 tiny blob of mozzarella and 5 TINY pieces of shredded chicken!!! Beyond annoyed and will not be going back. Panera used to be great but over time their prices went up and the quality of food went WAY down. You'd think given their cc bread scandal and the contaminated lettuce that they would try a little harder. read more

A great crew elevates this above the usual chain restaurant. Panera specializes in breads, and they are quie good, as are the sanwiches. I go mainly for breakfast, where the egg and (whatever) sandwiches on chibatta bread are very good. Bagels are OK and the coffee is fresh. At other times of the day, salads are also pretty fresh and well made. Soups are also recommended. read more

I came for a quick bite to eat on Sunday night. The place was packed and looked little disarray. I guess people were coming in and out too fast that staff couldn't keep up. From pick two menu, I ordered a cup of creamy tomato, steak & white cheddar panini and an apple for around $11. I thought the portion was quite small, like this should be in kid's menu. I have been going to this location since they opened and always liked the food. However in the last few years it has gone downhill. The salads and sandwiches are ok. Though I got a half tuna once and when I opened the sandwich I wanted to go back and ask "did you forget the tuna". They give the calorie count for most but they need to gone the amount of salt. This is a slightly upscale fast food joint. The items on the menu are fair, and time from order to service is usually great. Vary from the menu and you are in trouble. After explaining to two people behind the counter that a tuna melt was in essence a tuna and cheese sandwich grilled, what I received instead was a tuna and cheese sandwich on toast. SALADS NOT WORTH THE PRICE/HASSLE. Every time I place an order for a salad with this Panera, they forget something or don't have something and they continue to charge me for any extras I have ordered regardless of whether they have it or not and then they don't inform me, or if they do, I have to ask them to adjust the cost accordingly. Additionally, the large salad is a majority of lettuce and the helpings of the additional items are extremely small, but the salad only half fills the large salad box. Service is NOT their strong suit. read more

Food and service is Panera standard. This location does have a nice outdoor seating area and the plaza they are in has nice other stores. The 3 stars is really for the wait. 25 mins for 1/2 sandwich. I was there during prime lunch time but my name was at least 20 people down on the "preparing/ready monitor". I love this place and so glad there is one in Basking Ridge now. I don't eat typical fast food like BK, McD's, etc. Panera can hardly be called fast food. The food is always fresh and the portions are substantial. They are always adding or changing the menu so it stays interesting. The value is very good. You can get a meal for under $10. I usually opt for the "take two" which can be any two combo of soup, salad or half a sandwhich. It also comes with a choice of a side. My daughter loves the soup in a bread bowl. They have a large selection of soups daily. I consistently have a good experience here. read more

This seems to be a newly opened branch of the Panera chains. The location is great as there are not too many restaurants in the Basking Ridge area. I had the Asiago roast beef sandwich which was very good and meets my expectations of Panera sandwiches. However, the chicken noodle soup I ordered was rather pathetic. I could count the noodles on one hand - it was mostly soup and not a whole lot of stuff in it. It was a really sad cup of soup. Overall, when I'm back in the area, this is a dependable choice to grab a quick bite. read more

Over the last 6 months or so, I've really grown to like Panera. Regardless of location, the food is of pretty good quality and it's usually consistent. I like this location because it is not as hectic as some of the others in the area. Be warned, this strip mall can get pretty busy, though. I'm a fan of the breads, some of the turkey sandwiches and I like the Cobb salad with grilled chicken. Another plus for Panera locations is that they serve Pepsi products in the fountain soda machine and even have caffeine free Diet Pepsi. It's a rarity - seeing that. The baked goods are always solid and the prices are decent. It's not a cheap place but you're definitely getting a much higher quality product. I like it here and will continue to return. read more

Where they truly shine is the BREAD! Always fresh, always crispy and reasonably priced. I love their whole wheat baguette. It beats all others. The multi-seeded baguette is amazing too. Sandwiches and salads are pretty good and they have nice outdoor tables. read more

Rating 4 stars because for not much more $ than fast food you get a healthier meal and real dishes, knives and forks. The interior decoration is also better than most all of the fast food places. Prior to this we would go to other casual chain restaurants more, but now this is the wife's most likely choice for a quick casual dinner. It can get crowded at dinner time as it is popular in the area on near I-78. It is in a nicely designed building with multiple restaurants and other businesses, and is set back from the road a bit so it can be hard to locate if you aren't familiar with the area. read more

If I could give this location A NEGATIVE ZERO I would! It is an absolute madhouse. I waited about a 1/2 hour (a 1/2 HOUR AT PANERA!) for my food which didn't come out. I had to wait another 20 minutes to get my refund. Nobody knew if they were coming or going. Then as I get my refund, the food comes out. They tell me I can have my refund AND THE FOOD. Guess what? Incredibly disappointed. Stoped by on a trip from Vermont to the DC area for a quick breakfast sandwich and coffee. I ordered from their computer system, which I understood was supposedly faster. 30 minutes later nothing. They were also out of the kind of coffee I wanted so I ended up with poor tasting coffee. On a short time budget I ended up leaving without getting my food and wasting my money. If you're interested in speed and service, this is not the place. read more

I visited this location on Presidents day after I went to work out at the gym and ordered a spinach artichoke souffle. I was approached by one of the employees behind the counter and he quickly announced that they were sold due to an online order. I was floored that he announced that. How is that my problem I thought he should make more of them in the kitchen for the customer that bought them online. I was a customer in the cafe. Picked up some salads there Monday night and to be honest it was a little chaotic. The guy beside me was told they had no more of his soup so he was upset. They also ran out of bread, not all bread, but the bread that comes with your salad. When I looked in my to-go bag, I asked if there was bread and the assistant said there was. I saw 2 tiny pieces of bread. Each about half the size of a slice of bread from shop rite. I asked (honestly and nicely) "is that it?" And the answer was "yes". It's doesn't seem right that Panera should run out of bread. I usually eat it in the car on the way home. Not this time. read more

Arrived to order breakfast at 10:50am. Got to the cashier at 11:00AM as they were flipping the menus to lunch and dinner items. Informed the manager we were waiting in line for a while because although there were 2 cashiers only one was ringing up because the other one was spending time with one customer for at least 10 minutes. The manager said we could order breakfast sandwiches but only with egg whites. Who runs out of eggs for breakfast on a weekend? I have been a loyal customer for about 7 years and in the past couple of years I have noticed that Panera's prices are going up as their service and facilities are deteriorating. Ordered online for a corporate meeting. they said it would be delivered 11:15-11:30. called at 11:45 they said it was"out for delivery" and would be here in 5 minutes. Whenever travelling I frequently stop at Panera Breads as their food is always consistent. Unfortunately the cleanliness of the locations are not. This place was dirty, the drink counter was a mess with water all over the floor and the counters were sticky. I don't like how the kitchen was visable from the counter. I stopped by this Panera on my way home from the doctor, ordered take away and when I got home and opened the salad box the avocado was literally brown. Whoever plopped that brown avocado on top of the salad has no clue how to plate a meal. Wish I could upload a pic of it. I tried calling the store, but no one answered and I wasn't given the option to leave a message. I stopped going there for a long time because my take away orders were always wrong, but had a business meeting there the other day and the food was delicious. My lesson learned: Don't just check that your order is right, literally open the carton and make sure it's fresh. Panera: Once take away customers drive home 20 minutes in the rain to find below par food and then can't get through to a manager by phone (& no it wasn't during the lunch or dinner hour) they resort to Yelp to be heard.
