A solid 4 stars Indian restaurant. You can smell the spices marinating from the parking lot. Disclaimer: I've been to India (Bangalore, Delhi & Mumbai) over 135 times for work. I am a little extra critical. Its hard to find authentic Indian in North Jersey. The tika paneer was a little bland. The sauce was needed. The bells & onions that came with it were perfect al dente and crunchy. The butter chicken was good. I ordered it spicy (can request mild medium spicy on their online ordering) and it was barely spicy. However their tomato gravy was very developed and loaded with marinated chicken. 5.0 / 5.0. I got two orders of garlic naan. Pretty good. Very uniform. Curious if it's made traditionally or is premade bread they season pita they heat up. I got take away, guy at store was very polite. No namaste greeting but a nice fella. The entree (not large) app and bread was $47. A pricey meal. I will prolly go back despite my critical review. Support small businesses.

I'm not happy with my food, but my wife thought it was decent. My food was cold and it looked like it was frozen then heated to temperature. I got chicken vindaloo last time and the heat and spices were on point, but today was lacking. My wife got paneer. We will go to other Indian restaurants to find our favorite and avoid this place. I'm glad there are other Indian restaurants in this area!

Been here twice and satisfied both times. The food is tasty and filling. The lamb is tender. Just walk up to the counter to order and they'll serve at the table when the food is ready. Service is simple and satisfactory. There's not much activity in this area so the restaurant is quiet even on a Friday. Will have to come back to try other things, like their kati rolls.

During the Pandemic I became acutely aware of packaging. Packed the wrong way and an entire dish could be a ruinous stop by the time it gets to your door. Tandoori Mela has turned packaging into an art form We got our food on time, and it was obvious upon opening the box that it was prepared recently. TIMING people is key to serving great food. You know how annoying it is when you open a box and find some limo samosas that looked like they were unfrozen three hours ago? Nope, not here! Our samosas came hot and perfectly crisped! The sauces on the side were spicy and tangy, perfect! The wrapper was perhaps a bit chewy and bread for my preference, but still freshly made and cooked in fresh oil so there was no bitter aftertaste Another thing I appreciated about the packing was the organization and clear labeling. For our group order, everyone's name was printed on their respective boxes. No errors were made. And the boxes were stacked so that no food was compromised. Ok ok, but how was the food? The "Spicy Paneer Vindaloo" was bombastic. They don't pull any punches with the spice let me tell you and I'm here for it. Even though I was sweating like crazy, the explosion of flavors amid the sauce, paneer and potatoes was phenomenal. I was definitely considering my next order of it before I'd even cleared my plate!

Food was good...ordered spicy and it was actually spicy. Small place with only a few tables. Quick and friendly service even with one guy doing it all himself.

Tiny dessert for $7. Definitely not worth it.

Wife and I got a lunch special each. Food was good but not the greatest. Not worth paying over $50. Biggest slap was paying $7 for only 2 small balls of the gulab jamun.

Starting with the event food: it felt noticeably cheaper and lower quality, which was very disappointing. Prior to the event, we had all genuinely enjoyed the buffet food, so expectations were high. Unfortunately, the naan tasted frozen, like something from a bulk pack at Costco. It was thin, poorly made, and as someone who truly loves naan, I couldn't even finish a single piece. The meat and chicken dishes also did not taste nearly as good as they do during the buffet. The flavors were okay, but as someone familiar with South Asian cuisine, it was very underwhelming. Since this is the only Indian restaurant option in the area, that made the disappointment even greater. The staff overall was very kind and polite. The staff is truly amazing, very aware and ready to help which is wonderful!! They did an amazing job, 5/5 for the staff, no complaints there. However, my experience with the manager was not positive. He provided inconsistent and constantly changing information regarding the minimum number of people required to reserve the private room. For me, he told my partner and I that 45 people were required minimum. But later told my sister that it was 40 then 35 or 30 and it just kept changing. One change is not okay, maybe a mistake. But this? Not a mistake, definitely intentional. And if you don't know the correct answer, the right thing to do is find out before relaying any information. I found the inconsistency among the required number of guests and information extremely unprofessional, and it came across as money-driven, which was a major turn-off--especially when paired with the noticeably lower-quality food being served for a special event - aka a Wedding. Now, outside of the event, the buffet itself was excellent. The naan was fluffy and warm, and the chicken and meat dishes were flavorful and well prepared. Based on the buffet alone, I would have given this restaurant a 5 out of 5. The buffet is one I would recommend. However, due to how the event was handled, the inconsistencies, and the poor quality of food provided for what was supposed to be a wedding event, I have to rate this experience a 3 out of 5. Providing customers with inaccurate and inconsistent information, especially from a manager, is not professional and is simply not okay. ESPECIALLY because it was a private party as well in which they are making more money and taking images to promote the area.

I have come here for a buffet…read moretwice (once on a weekend and once on a regular day), and enjoyed it so much that we picked this place to host my sister's intimate wedding party. Service is the best I have seen around this area. All of the staff we have met were friendly, and the same with the store manager. Ambiance is lovely. You can go here for dates, family brunch, lunch with friends, and even book their private room for parties and decorate it the way you want. Buffet price is great for what you get! I believe you normally get to make your own chaats as appetizers and there are 6 additional dishes. Once, there was even a live pani puri station (delicious)! Also the Naan is fresh and comes hot. We had Dhannu(?) as one of our servers, and he was awesome - very kind and friendly. All the servers were nice but we talked to him the most. If you reserve the room for a private party, you get to make it buffet style with 2 veg app, 2 non veg app, 2 veg entrees, 2 non Veg, rice/naan, choice of 2 desserts, and soda. You can add more for additional price. I added pictures of the items we had selected. The guests also enjoyed the food. Only change we would have done would be replacing the Falooda for a diff dessert. The Falooda was lacking the vermicelli noodles. Also, the butter chicken was lacking chicken. Other than that, all else was great.

Parking is always a challenge when heading to any restaurant in downtown, but since it was a weekday, we found a spot easily. The entrance and ambience are fabulous -- with Buddha statues placed at the entry and throughout the restaurant, and beautiful hanging red/lavender tree leaves adding a lot of charm Coming to food, as we were party of 7, we ordered * Kale Pakora * Bhindi Churi Muri: crispy, veryt thin slices of ladyfinger- good 4/5 * Lasooni gobhi *Tandoori Medley: mixed platter. Honestly, not sure why they'd include large chicken pieces here; felt like something borrowed from a buffet platter. The only items I liked were the mutton seekh kebab and prawns. *Gobhi Manchurian: too much sauce - 3/5 * Jhinga Masala: tomato-based gravy with prawns, nothing extraordinary, 3/5 * Bhuna Gost : nope, could not find the gravy... 2.5/5 * Lamb Biryani: average and disappointing, 2.5/5 * Eggplant Bharta * Gobhi Paratha, Tandoori Roti, Garlic Naan, Laccha Paratha * Jaljeera, Lassi, Lime soda To be honest, food was pretty average. Bharta and Bhuna Gosht definitely could've been better. It felt very hit or miss--none of the dishes really stood out Also, Portion was way less then what other restaurant serves! Service was good but again we were the only party there! they added 20 % gratuity by default Overall, I'd rate it 3 to 3.5/5 at best. I'll probably skip it next time unless they bring in something new. Bring some new flavor team, you are not offering anything new!

Flavor bomb burrata was amazing - on top of a naan, tomatoes and green garlic chimichurri with a fresh burrata and what was like a very sweet spicy honey on top - delicious. Sadly they were out of the truffle chicken masala. We opted for the butter chicken - also delicious and rich. Palak paneer - always nice to see the spinach version. Very good. Both were great with the garlic and butter naans... sopped up with the naan or rice, delicious. The 'Rarha' Lamb Chops were ok, overcooked until the bone crumbled so a bit hard to pick up, cutting it was a bit tough, and the mustard-tumeric potatoes were very good but heavy. BYOB. Menu completely online and somewhat hard to see -- bring a big phone. Street or muni lot parking. Servers were pleasant but often busy cleaning up - a bit of dropping things all night - customers knocked over their lights, dishes fell, glasses broke - I felt like it was a Jewish wedding with all the wares falling on the floor mid-way through dinner. We stopped by Four Monkeys on a busy Friday night, and the place was packed, always a promising sign. Even with the crowd, parking wasn't an issue at all; Lot 3 is right nearby and there's plenty of street parking, which made getting in and out painless. Inside, the restaurant is on the smaller side, but they've managed to fit in a surprising number of tables without making it feel cramped. The lighting is dim and moody in a way that works well for the space, and the subtle monkey-themed decor is genuinely charming- playful but tasteful. Menus are all via QR code, and even the cutlery feels upgraded and fancy, adding a nice touch. Service was a highlight. The staff is friendly, helpful, and refreshingly honest as they guided us through the menu, prevented us from over-ordering, and offered thoughtful recommendations. For water, they give you options: tap, sparkling, or still. What we ordered: * Pili Mirch Paneer Tikka (appetizer) * Bandar Butter Chicken * Homestyle Bhuna Chicken * Garlic Naan (pro tip: the naans are huge, one is easily enough for two people) The paneer app was really solid, think paneer tikka with a definite kick, paired with some tasty dipping sauce, chutney, and even grilled pineapple. A fun combo and definitely one of the stronger dishes. The mains, though, both the butter chicken and homestyle bhuna chicken, leaned very much on the milder side. The sauces were more liquidy than expected, and they felt geared toward diners who prefer Indian food without the heat. With slightly less gravy and a bit more spice, both dishes could've been standouts. The garlic naan was fine, though more firm than the soft, melt-in-your-mouth style I usually prefer. Overall, I'd say Four Monkeys is a good try and a nice addition to Summit, but probably not my go-to Indian spot for the food alone. That said, the ambiance is great, the staff is wonderful, and it's worth a visit, especially if you're into milder Indian flavors or want a cozy, lively night out.
