Went today for the first time with a friend. The person who took our order was very nice and explained what the dishes were and how to properly eat them. The location is small and has a few tables, but overall is a nice spot. The place is kept clean. The food was spectacular and didn't take long to come out. We got the Chana masala, Masala Chai, Dosa, Panipuri, and mango lassi.

Amazing new find as Somerville gets uber with its restaurants, apartments, and residents. Four indoor dining tables and a few in the outdoor settings. Tried their rolls and these are the best we ever had! Mixed vegetables roll was just fantastic! Mango Lassi was also fresh and true classic. Too bad couldn't try all their menu items - but I feel it's only a matter of time. The place is super convenient to grab the food while you commute to work or pick up food when you return home. They have redone the inside and outside and we were taken aback as we were used to seeing the old lawyer office with no sign of life.

Love at first bite! I've gone here twice and plan to return. With a limited lunch break of 30 minutes, I can pop in here quickly with convenient parking right outside. The food is outstanding. Vijay is also a very welcoming owner! It looks like a takeaway spot, but I heard the owner say he plans to add tables. That said, the place has some ways to go. There are no menus, only a QR code, which is a deal breaker for some people. The online menu doesn't have descriptions of the food. And even if you dine in, you are eating on plastic. *Note about paper menus: I prefer them because I see all the food at a glance, and see things I may not have thought of. Scrolling on the phone gets tedious when you to have to click and go back several times as you browse. I offered my coworker the QR code in case she wanted to try the place, and she didn't even want to try! Like I said, a deal breaker.

Don't let this hole in the wall deceive you-- it may be small but the chef is outdoing himself here .visiting from Atlanta and we had idly, onion uttampam and Bhel puri -- flavors were ON POINT. Make this a snack stop on your journey.

Happy to see one of our old favorites from Edison 'Talk Of The Town' re-open with a new name but featuring the same menu. More importantly, the food is just as good as before. Almost all of the old hits are on the new menu. What we tried - Khichdi - was a comforting, home style Khichdi made of green moong and rice. This is very popular in homes in India but not usually seen on restaurant menus outside of India so is a must try! Dahi Puri -globe like puffy puris filled with boiled moong, boiled potatoes, spicy, sweet and sour chutneys and yoghurt and topped with crunchy thin sev Paneer Methi Tikki - a crunchy patty with the soft paneer filling punctuated by a mild funky taste of the fenugreek (methi) Paneer Bhurji - mild perfectly spiced shredded paneer gravy served with raw onions, lime and a choice of pav or chapatis (we chose the pavs)

Right next to Somerville train station this tiny restaurant has a few tables and a nice clean restroom. It is a little chilly inside and very bright lights so I'd order your food to go. We got takeout and called ahead and the food was great! Especially loved the palak paneer and the chole bhature. The dahi puri was good but a bit too much yogurt for us. Overall, it was super tasty and man who took our order helped recommend the chole bhature for us. Would love to try some more items here!

My new most favorite place ever!!!! If you know how Mumbai's vada pav's are, these don't miss! They taste exactly the same and you will see me here all the time ordering just their vada pav. I've NEVER tasted any type of vada pav in Jersey ever like this. So now that I'm done raving about their vada pav, I'll dwell on their other items as well. I've got their pav bahji, chole bhature, and bhel. All really good but bhel was a bit off. I've only ordered takeout but have seen it pretty busy in the store. Owner is also nice and noticed when I've ordered back to back!

Amazing restaurant, small but mighty!! This vegetarian Indian eatery is delicious and a hidden gem in Somerville. The food is delicious and the service is great too. While it is small with four tables inside, this is nothing to be wary of. The manager is very friendly and accommodating and I was so glad my friend chose this spot to try some Indian food! We got the pav bhaji special and it was so delicious. Too bad it was so good I couldn't even wait to photograph it! So flavorful, good spice, and served nice and hot. I don't usually order pav bhaji when I'm out but I am so glad I did!! My friends also really enjoyed the pav bhaji and the tomato flavors! That's always a win. The samosas were flavorful as well as the masala fries. My friends also enjoyed their roti. Personally the paneer makhani was not my favorite, I would give much more emphasis and praise to their more street food centric dishes. Like their inventive paneer patties -- so yummy! Paired with the iconic green chutney, the Pattie's were an absolute hit. Of course I had to have a Thumbs Up soda with all this delicious food, and it was the perfect meal!! Definitely appreciate the service and good quality here, I will 100% be back!!

The bro and I rolled up some greens, big up Gov murphy, when I remembered that a new spot opened up down the street - Bombay Canteen. Now peeps listen, there's a reason why I didn't hit up the spot yet. It's a pretty big reason. For us at least. It's veg... only. Before my desi homies and Swaminarayan peeps come for me - I know bro, veg food can hit too. Just not always my cup of chai aight? So take this review with a pinch of Himalayan salt. Placed a pick up order, like I said, place is a 2 min walk from division st, right next to the Somerville train station. Interior got stools and counters. For my real ones think OG Mughal Express in Edison. For my "One of my friend's is Indian" peeps, don't bring a date here. Well unless, they brown, and down green chutney like shots at the club everytime AP Dillion comes on. Then there's a chance of gulab goin in jamun ;) But yeah, place is clean. Let's get to the grub. Most peeps got litmus tests, my bro and I got litness tests. Bombay Canteen's litness test included the following: - Paneer Masala Kati Roll - Aloo Masala Fries - Onion Dosa - Veg Cutlet - Navaratan Korma - Plain Paratha - Samosa - Chutney Cheese Sandwich - Two Limcas (gotta do it for the culture) - Mango Lassi Here's what imma say - the kati roll, sando and cutlet? bangers. The kati roll and sando were thicc bois. For 11 and 9 bucks respectively, your parents are gonna be proud you spending your money right. The cutlet coating crunch level hit harder than NAV does. Dosa - mid. Don't know dosa batter like that to know if its store bought, but I don't think they got the right equipment to get that crispy exterior needed on dosas. Navaratan Korma - mid. Non desi friendly level spice, but will admit the korma was loaded. No fishing in gravy required. Aloo Masala Fries - no masala on these fries b, pass Plain Paratha - Go to Patel Bros, check the frozen section, look for the Deep brand, there ya go Plain Paratha. Samosa - mid Limcas and Lassi always hit, nuff said. So what we saying? I think it woulda been very easy for the homies at Bombay Canteen to price gouge my non Desi peeps into thinking that they getting some authentic street food. Fortunately, they didn't. For everything I ordered it came out to 80 bucks. The frozen food that they reheated and reheated well are priced accordingly. Get their sandos, get their kati rolls. - Robby bobby, the Somerville brown big body peacing out P.S. Lucy, the pup, liked her paratha. 4 outta 4 paws

The staff is consistently friendly and pleasant, which makes each visit enjoyable. My go-to order is the "Caribbean Berry" smoothie in the regular size. It's definitely on the sweeter side, with the frozen yogurt and syrupy strawberries, I don't go there expecting a health drink, it's more of a sweet treat for me. When I want something healthier, I have other places I prefer. One thing I really like is their reward card system. Every time you order, they have a physical paper that you would bring every visit. They will stamp the card, one stamp for a small smoothie and two for a regular sized smoothie. Once you collect ten stamps, you get a free smoothie. I've probably gone through six of those cards already! However, on my last visit, I was disappointed to find out they didn't have the stamp cards available. I had just redeemed a free smoothie on my previous trip and was hoping to start a new card, but I couldn't. It would be great if they upgraded to a digital system so customers don't miss out on their rewards. A regular smoothie is $9.40 with tax included, and a small is only about 50 cents cheaper. I always order a regular size, because there's not much difference in the price. One note to make is that they do not accept Apple Pay as a form of payment!Despite the minor issue with the reward system, I'm a faithful customer and will definitely keep coming back.

I loveeee that they can make my smoothies dairy free and it still taste just as great. Another plus is their purchase system, which never expires. Finally one is just around the corner! I stopped by on a weekday and was greeted at the door by a member of their team. After I told him it was my first visit, he explained the prices on the two sizes as well as the flavors they had available for the day. I got a couple of tastes and ended up leaving with a 12oz of the ginger tumeric and a growler of the red zinger. All for around $26-$27. I usually go through one of the Health Ade bottles a day so I love that these are organic and locally nano-brewed. They don't have the tartness that most kombuchas I am used to have, so that is either a plus or minus for you depending on your individual preference. Oh! One more thing, if you live nearby and plan to go here quite a bit, go for the growler. You bring it back with each visit and refills are $15 compared to the $20 you'll spend on your first time. So of course this is a *Covid times review and I felt that they took some great steps to keep customers and their staff safe. They have a little table set up outside where you drop off growlers and pick up refilled ones. Hand sanitizer was on the table and a menu was on the window so the whole interaction was nearly contactless. Andddd now my ginger turmeric is officially done...
