Delightful place, ambience, and service. Of course, good food as well. An informal litmus test of how fresh the ingredients are is to order "Bhel Puri" and check for the crispness. Nailed it! Their (tandoori) roti flatbread was also crisp (and none of that chewy feel). Saag paneer had a ting of smoked flavor - delightful! Very friendly wait and host staff w/ reasonable prices. Fancy enough to host a large group.

Wanted to visit this place ever since it opened! Finally got a chance this week to go with my colleagues. Parking is always a challenge when heading to any restaurant in downtown, but since it was a weekday, we found a spot easily. The entrance and ambience are fabulous -- with Buddha statues placed at the entry and throughout the restaurant, and beautiful hanging red/lavender tree leaves adding a lot of charm Coming to food, as we were party of 7, we ordered * Kale Pakora * Bhindi Churi Muri: crispy, veryt thin slices of ladyfinger- good 4/5 * Lasooni gobhi *Tandoori Medley: mixed platter. Honestly, not sure why they'd include large chicken pieces here; felt like something borrowed from a buffet platter. The only items I liked were the mutton seekh kebab and prawns. *Gobhi Manchurian: too much sauce - 3/5 * Jhinga Masala: tomato-based gravy with prawns, nothing extraordinary, 3/5 * Bhuna Gost : nope, could not find the gravy... 2.5/5 * Lamb Biryani: average and disappointing, 2.5/5 * Eggplant Bharta * Gobhi Paratha, Tandoori Roti, Garlic Naan, Laccha Paratha * Jaljeera, Lassi, Lime soda To be honest, food was pretty average. Bharta and Bhuna Gosht definitely could've been better. It felt very hit or miss--none of the dishes really stood out Also, Portion was way less then what other restaurant serves! Service was good but again we were the only party there! they added 20 % gratuity by default Overall, I'd rate it 3 to 3.5/5 at best. I'll probably skip it next time unless they bring in something new. Bring some new flavor team, you are not offering anything new!

I visited this Indian restaurant on my visit to Morristown. This is located in a busy junction and mid of town. Parking will be challenging but after couple of rounds found parking in front of the restaurant. The interior of the restaurant is amazing and definitely feels special. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They had a buffet for their lunch so decided to go with that. The collection in buffet is very good for the price. Also they provide the Naan/Bread to the table and also the Tandoori chicken apetizer to the table. Those 2 were very good, rest of the buffet was good but I wouldnt try that next time. Noodles was good, gravy tasted bland to me, Overall it was a good experience and will visit this restaurant again to try their ala carte menu.

Stopped in for the first time for a Sunday lunch. Was surprised to find a nice buffet, so we went with that. The food was all really fresh and flavorful and I thought it was a great deal. There were both veg and meat options and the buffet includes tandoori chicken and bread for the table. The space is really nice, great ambiance. We are looking forward to going back very soon.

My husband and I went out for a date night at Chakra and oh boy was it some of the best Indian food we've had in awhile. We arrived around 5:30 on a Saturday evening with no reservations (which was our bad). The hostess and manager (owners?) were kind enough to seat us even though it became packed around 6:30. We will know better to make reservations next time. We began with an order if Samosas which were packed with flavorful spiced potatoes and peas. Even the dough was delicious! It was a great way to start our meal. We couldn't decide what we wanted to eat for dinner and our waitress suggested that we share two dishes, which was a great idea! We ordered the Chicken Tikka and Chicken Korma. We also ordered two different naan, the Tandoori Naan and the Garlic Naan. Oh man, everything was SO amazing! We ordered it at a medium spice level and at first I was concerned that it would be too spicy, but it was just right. Everything had such a good flavor. The cashew based gravy was amazing, and of course having some rice as a base always brings everything together nicely. The atmosphere was very lovely and we had such a nice dinner. Chakra is BYOB so when we received the check it was a great price point for a nice dinner out. We are already talking about returning as soon as possible!

New Indian spot in Morristown hits. Traditional flavors executed at a high level that doesn't break the bank and appropriate portion sizes. Well decorated interior, clean and SUPER friendly staff. If you're in Morristown and looking for a new Indian fix this is it! The palaak chat was simply amazing, definitely unique not found everywhere - would recommend!

Lunch Buffet

Chakra features an all-you-can eat buffet for lunch Monday through Friday (priced at $19 during the soft opening) featuring a wide variety of traditional non-veg and vegetarian Indian favorites like tandooris, paneers, and masalas. The friendly, personable staff is always happy to recommend dishes if you let them know your preferences and dietary restrictions. The lunch buffet includes six or seven entrees as well as basmanti rice, a garden salad, and rice pudding for dessert. Naan is available upon request. I've enjoyed the Bhuna Ghosht, a slow-cooked lamb infused with a selection of Punjabi spices, as well as the Chana Masala, comprised of chickpeas, onions and tomatoes cooked in a thick sauce, and the Yellow Split Pea Daal, comprised of yellow split peas simmered with ginger and spices -- all of which were very tasty and very filling. I'd like to see Chakra offer additional appetizers such as samosas or pakoras and (non-dairy) dessert options. Chakra is a BYOB establishment, so feel free to bring your favorite wine or beer to enjoy with your lunch or dinner. PRO TIP: Chakra doesn't have a private parking lot, but there is plenty of on-street parking off South Street, including the municipal parking lot just a block away at the intersection of Elm Street and Franklin Street. Bring change or use the ParkMobile app for the meters ($1 per hour) Monday through Saturday from 8am til 6PM; all street meters are free Monday through Saturday after 6pm and all day on Sunday.

Excellent food and amazing service. This was our first time trying Indian cuisine and we went on a recommendation from a friend . This place exceeded my expectations. The ambience and decor was unique , vibrant colors and silk flower foliage throughout . The manager , Rex, was extremely helpful and even made suggestions based on our palate. The food was absolutely delicious, making our experience unforgettable. Aden was our waitress and she was lovely . I can't say enjoy positive things and I am looking forward to returning very soon. The Garlic Naan was unreal We tried so many different preparations with the meal we got and the flavor was beyond amazing. My fave was the Chicken Tikka Masala . Well done Chakra!!

Fast delivery, good portions. The only fail was the rice pudding dessert. The special lamb dish was the best.

I first discovered this establishment at a party where the host catered from them. Just looking at…read moreeach tray made want to see for it myself. When I arrived it was already packed. I noticed a handful of people were waiting for tables as they were filling up the room, which shows this place pretty well known and sign that this going to be night to remember. I do have to mention that this happened in the middle of autumn and temperature's dropped to 40°F that night. The restaurant is relatively small with ceiling lights many art pieces on the walls. Yet, there was plenty of seating inside, including booths. The tables unique as the chairs they used looked liked the ones you would find in a temple; cheap but comfortable enough for dining. This tells me that they care more about the quality of the food than how they appear to the guests. Our service was done possibly by the manager since he was the only one not wearing black. He was nice and so thoughtful that my party included a baby, and that he wanted us to enjoy our stay while simultaneously trying to get our food served as quickly as possible so that the baby wouldn't be so overwhelmed. The menu is reasonably priced for a sit-down restaurant, especially for Indian cuisine. There a also section for Indo-Chinese dishes if interested Here's what I ordered: -Lasooni Gobi - "lasoon" roughly translates to garlic, and that is exactly what I taste. Sweet and spicy sauce coating well-cooked cauliflower. After it was finished I was't afraid to clean the plate myself. -Volcano Cheese Pahadi Paneer - clay oven baked paneer with a smoky grilled char. Well seasoned and tender topped with cheese melted so perfectly that you could pull for miles. Veg Biryani - seasoned with Indian spices and beautifully colored. The potatoes were easy to split with a fork which personally I could never get right. Paneer Tikka Masala - Beautiful red color, spicy and sweet. You could actually see the various spices they used to make this wonderful curry. I liked how there was a hint of acidity from the tomato base. Saag Paneer - Not too wet or dry. I loved how for this dish the saag kind of loosely sticks to the paneer and not fully coat it, giving it that yellowish-green color, but also absorb the spices when eaten alone. Shahi Paneer - This one caught me by surprise, because, I was expecting it to look similar to the Paneer Tikka. Probably from the cashews they blended in. Though I loved the nuttiness that comes with it, I did find it to be slightly oily as it slowly started to seeped into the other curries on my plate. I will say though, tasting all curries together is delightful experience. Garlic Naan - good amount of char and thinly rolled. Easy to break apart with one hand. This is one of the best foods i have ever eaten and amazingly not to far from where I live. If you're looking for a joint who puts great pride in what they prepare, then this is the place for you!

For entrees, we got the butter chicken, chicken tikka, paneer tikka, salmon tandoori, and malai kofta. Everything was delicious except the salmon which was beyond dry and overcooked! Garlic and cheese naans were very good. Strange thing is that they served all of this food with the smallest portion of basmati rice... Fun to try the ras malai dessert! Beautiful presentation. Service was excellent and cute restaurant! Will be back!
