Congratulations! Twas the night before a blizzard and it was like the place was filled by three celebrations of droves of people!! I discretely left as they had no open seats but wow was I happy for them. I was curious as to whether it was an Indian holiday I was unaware of so I went over to that other place in Berkeley Heights and it was completely empty. I stood in the freezing empty dining room for ten minutes and by the time the head waiter came out, only to wait more - he saw me - and then just struck up a long conversation with someone picking up take out. First time here, I believe Bollywood grill used to be here before. Interiors are good and well maintained. We were in a rush, the staff was very accommodating. Got our order out in few mins despite the Friday rush. Food was delicious, paneer curry was tasty and spicy. Will recommend, if you are looking for good North Indian curries and naan. read more

We had awesome experience last week, so we went back to Mumbai Tadka again to try other dishes. For appetizers, we ordered beetroot tiki chaat. Beetroot tikies in the chaat were soft and tasty, served with Chana, tomatoes, onions, tamarind chutney, coriander chutney with mild spices and garnishing. It was perfectly spiced and delicious. For main course, we ordered Malai kofta again, Bhindi masala, vegetable Biryani, and Butter Naan. Again Malai kofta were soft and delicious with gravy made from Khoya and not from heavy cream. Bhindi masala were awesome, because they were not combination of half cooked onions and half cooked okras, but actually well cooked small okra pieces with finely chopped onions and special combination of spices that made them different from other restaurants. Bhindi masala were out of this world!!!!! Naan were perfectly buttered and soft. Onion and fresh green chili salad was prepared freshly and topped with chat masala to add flavor. Biriyani was cooked with mild spices and combination of several vegetables, topped with fried crunchy onions. I liked it because I did not taste patthar ke phool in the biriyani. It tasted like authentic Indian Biriyani. I personally do not prefer taste of patthar ke phool. For desert, I ordered Rasmalai. Rasmalai seemed freshly prepared on the premise. It was not too sweet and did not have cardamom or nuts on the top, but instead it was topped with dry red rose petals. I think it was nut less so people with allergies to nuts may be able to enjoy after thorough inquiry regarding the nuts. My overall experience again was awesome. I highly recommend this restaurant. Opened recently in place of Bollywood Grill. Came here for dinner on Christmas day for 8 people. Service was very friendly. Decor was modern. Food came out faster than we expected. Its a big menu if you take into account the different types of combinations you can make. We started with the Chinese Pakoda, Schezwan Gobi, and Lasooni Gobi. Everything was great, seasoned well. The tikka masala was the tastiest I've ever had, as was the saag. I went with the lamb saag & the chicken tikka masala, but am going to try lamb with the tikka masala next time because the lamb was so tender and delicious. My mom was thrilled with her tandoori jumbo shrimp. What really surprised me was the appetizer because it was something I would never have ordered on my own, but my mother wanted to try it. I have gone to this restaurant only twice so far (as I have to drive out there specifically to go here) and both times I was very impressed with the staff, ambience, and most importantly, the food. I don't review places often, but I felt like reviewing this restaurant bc they are doing an exceptional job worthy of praise. The owner and staff checked each table to see if all the guests are ok and are enjoying the food. Staff allow you eat without disturbing you, but are quick to come to the table when needed. All the food I've tried so far is clearly made from scratch (which I don't see often) and made with quality ingredients. I didn't know I like vada pav until I tried it here! Samosas are common in most Indian restaurants. The flavor and taste of these samosas (and chutneys) were much better than most samosas I've had at other places. I've tried desserts both times I came here and I'm impressed with how well they executed these (as I love desserts, and these two were desserts I've never had before as well). I tried another subzi (don't remember the name) I've never had before and it was quite tasty as well. Naan and roti were freshly made and tasty enough for me to eat a bit of the naan without anything else. Some places have the breads dripping with ghee or butter, so I requested a little butter on the naan and nothing on the roti... and that is exactly what I was given. I'm fine if waiters (or kitchen staff) forget small details like that, but am pleased with staff who remember small details. Even the owner remembered me from the first time I came a while ago. The ambiance is nice/peaceful with background Hindi instrumental music playing. I've been to other places where they often ask their diners to review them, but this isn't one of those places. The food speaks for itself. The service is remarkable as well. I'm looking forward to trying out other dishes in the future. read more
