They normally deliver through door dash (I believe), but since I was ordering large trays for a total of 25 people, they would not deliver an order even though it was over $600! Having to send people to pick up the food was definitely an inconvenience - as was the fact that everything was leaking all over the place!! I'm usually pretty loyal to Up Thai, but lately it's fallen off. We order takeout a lot, and more often than not something is missing or incorrect from the order. Prices are so high. Apps are $12-15 and entrees are $20-$30, even a basic pad thai is $20. Dinner for two will run you close to $100, especially if you order takeout / delivery and have the fees. And for the price it's just not the same quality as it used to be. Last time I ordered my shrimp pad thai came with 3 shrimps - so disappointing for the price. My pad see ew was also super mushy / undercooked and not fried and flavorful. Up Thai is usually my go-to, but next time a Thai craving hits I am going to try something else. read more

Been coming here pretty consistently ever since I moved to Morristown. My go-to dishes are either the Spicy Basil and Pad Thai. The Fried Rice is also a pretty solid choice. I've ventured out and tried a few of their other dishes but these are what I'd recommend. In my opinion, there is a big difference between the dine-in quality vs the takeout. This is usually the case, but it matters more some foods than with others, and that really becomes obvious when getting food from here. Portions are generous, and the lunch special comes with a salad in peanut dressing which is done well. Ambience is nothing to write home about, as it's fairly small inside but generally you won't have trouble finding seating except maybe during the lunch rush. Service is generally good as the staff is fairly responsive once you get their attention. Taking one star off because prices are quite high and I unfortunately do feel like the quality has declined slightly over the last couple years. That being said, this is still one of the best options around the area for Thai food, but definitely recommend dining in vs getting take-out. read more

Update: I returned to the restaurant for another lunchtime luncheon. This time I ordered a more traditional dish, green chili chicken, and I can tell you it was spiced to my exact desired level. They even gave my table hot oil but I didn't need it. Full of flavor, my coworker also loved his (repeat of) drunken noodles. Service was a bit distant - they would acknowledge if you need something but otherwise generally do not stop by. Interior is simple; they let one guy sit at a large table but crammed the two of us into a smaller table. Why can't we have a large table if it's not that crowded? Also the rear light was flickering ominously and I was scared to use the restroom. So, the updated verdict: Food is more hit than miss, very solid Thai food. But the ambiance is a bit less than ideally kept up. I will leave 4 stars for now and give them one more chance to work on service and building maintenance for the illustrious 5th star. Side note: My reviews are based on lunch. Have not had dinner here, prices are reasonable for the chiles and related dishes but rather expensive for other main dishes. Caveat spendor. read more

My guest and I enjoyed amazing flavor profiles and textures at a recent visit to Up Thai, mercifully free of the oil, heaviness, and blandness of other Thai places within even 15 minutes of here. We ordered the fried tofu, which was served hot and crispy with an oil and peanut dip; the se ew with beef, which had delicious and amazing caramelizatjon along the beef and the noodles, and was brightened by some greens; and the garlic and pepper tofu, which was fresh, pretty, and colorful. Sauces tied everything together on the palate. In addition to chicken, tofu, and beef, they offer lamb and sea bass as proteins, for a large and ambitious menu. The veggies were so flavorful that if they were your meal by themselves, you'd never miss the protein. I look forward to coming back for more! The parking lot is sort of a travesty if you come in from the northernmost entrance - if you're coming from Denville, turn at the second left for much nicer parking spots. read more

Stopped in for a later dinner (7pm) on a weeknight and I was the only one in the restaurant. At first it was kind of a red flag but then I noticed a constant flow of takeout orders being picked up. I ordered the spring rolls and chicken pad thai (classic, I know). The food arrived in a reasonable time and I loved it all. Our favorite Thai place in Rockaway (Pearl of Siam) closed so our radar was out for another good local replacement. Yelp reviewers have given this small place a bunch of positive reviews so we took a shot on take out. Happy to report that our experience has been five stars. We have had a variety of items and each one was yummy in the tummy without requiring an asbestos palate to handle the spice. That's really smart because you can always ask them to "kick it up a notch" if that's your taste. The prices, like most Thai places we have been to, are a bit strong but not out of line with the quantity and, more important, the quality. Their sauces - always a treat with good Thai food - taste fresh and nicely compliment the dishes we have ordered. My wife is a vegetarian and loves their take on tofu dishes. Me, I dig in on the shrimp rolls and curry puffs - two dishes that are the best I have had at any Thai restaurant. They have small tables outside but so far we have only done take out. Their service is always quick so trust their ETA when you place a call-in order. We have been gettin food here for a few weeks and each meal has been very good. My wife chose the Garlic & Pepper. She loved it and I had a taste and concurred! The restaurant is located in a small strip mall on Rt 53 in Morris Plains. The inside was very small but nicely decorated. They did have some place settings out, but no one dining inside. Doesn't look like much when you walk past it but the food is good. Dropped in here for our anniversary lunch and I must say we din't regret it. Liked the place a perfect definition of hole in the wall. Absolutely delicious! As a self proclaimed rice noodle connoisseur, I give Up Thai's drunken noodles my golden seal of approval. I ordered for delivery to work and will definitely add up Thai to my take-out lunch rotation. I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp and specified "medium spice" in the comment section. I find that at most Thai places, even if there is a spice symbol next to the item on the menu, spice (in the form of chili) isn't added unless you ask for it. for me, the spice is needed to kick things up a notch. And the "medium" spice level definitely did the trick! It may have just been a tad too spicy but was still manageable. The sauce has a great Thai basil flavor and veggies included carrots, peppers and cooked tomatoes (which I haven't seen before in this dish but were flavorful) the best part was the shrimp! Although there were only 4 shrimp total... they were really tasty. Just wish there were more included! The Thai salad was a nice surprise. I didn't know it came with the noodles. It came with a delicious peanut sauce which was so so good. Only strange thing about the meal was that I ordered a Diet Coke and was given a Diet Pepsi .... but it's not a big deal. We were in the area searching for a quick bite for dinner, and we found this place. Upon arriving, we saw a little restaurant with a few outdoor seating tables, nothing crazy in appearance. It is a small restaurant with about 7-8 tables. There was no wait, and we were seated immediately on a Saturday evening. We ordered the Chicken Drunken Noodles- Med. heat level, and the Chicken Thai Red curry. The Drunken Noodles were very delicious. The noodles were soft, and had a great smokey flavor from the wok. It was flavorful, and left you wanting more. But, the heat level was more of a hot than medium. I can do okay with spice, but this left me a little teary eyed. If you cannot handle spice, please let them know, Thai Chilis are no joke. The Thai Red curry was pretty good as well. It was a little bit on the sweet side for my taste, but my fiancé seemed to enjoy it. The flavor was nice, and you can really taste the coconut milk. It is also served with a side of white rice which balances out the flavors from the curry. The staff there was very nice, and attentive. The waitress constantly refilled our water glasses (she probably saw me dying from the spice). I saw a lot of take out orders on a Saturday night, but not a lot of sit down customers. I'm going to be honest. The rice wasn't fully cooked which was a hard pill to swallow. The rice is an essential that makes the meal what it is. Also, don't most restaurants use rice cookers? How did you make uncooked rice? Does no one test it? How did we get served Jasmine rice that wasn't even near sticky/soft? Nonetheless the curry was DELICIOUS. I had yellow curry with shrimp and salmon. It didn't have potato. I had to add it. The weird part is, on the receipt they charged one plate for potato's and didn't charge the other. Is this a scam, where most people don't check the receipt, so you tack on prices to generate more money? I'll give it a 3. The curry was really good. What a great little gem! I stumbled on this place on a drive through Jersey when I needed to pull off the road for a work conference call. They feature excellent tasting and affordable lunch specials... with satisfying portions. We went there after a recommendation from one colleague. It is a small restaurant on route 53 and a little hard to find in first chance. It was open until 930 PM and we entered at 9 PM. As soon as we entered and sit, the server said, you have to give all orders together. I was like let me read the menu first. Anyway, we ordered lemongrass soup, curry puff, pad Thai and Thai red curry. The soup was a bit oily as I had tom yum earlier too in various Thai restaurants so I Know. Curry puff was chicken pastry so nothing special was that Thai red curry was okay and so was pad Thai though it was very sweet. And yes, after serving our order, the server again reminded us they ll be close so any last order? The ambiance was good. Probably the best Thai in Denville -- they have such unique flavors combined to form the most perfect of dishes -- it's truly refreshing going everytime. Now, I know I review a lot of Thai restaurants & Up thai isn't my #1 favorite but it just so happens to be my #2 favorite & that's because of throughout the years, i've had the honor of trying almost everything on their menu & not a SINGLE thing wasn't perfect. In fact, when regular customers go & ask for "spicy" they will go a max of 'medium' because their actual spicy (which I typically get) is out of this world lava-fire but it's also incredibly tasty! Now don't get me wrong, if you're into burning a hole into your second stomach, just ask for "thai spicy 5" they will happily accommodate but otherwise, stick to medium -- the flavors, gravy, ingredients in conjunction with the heat always make a perfect combination every single bite one bite at a time! You're probably wondering why if this is my second favorite thai restaurant, why I didn't give it 5 stars, well the food is amazing, the service is great not to mention they treat me like family BUT the parking is atrocious -- not entirely sure that should be an entire star off but I cannot whole heartedly give it the 5. This also a positive thing, with COVID affecting so many restaurants Up Thai has been thriving on take out orders -- that is actually the crux of the problem there are always 5-6 delivery drivers waiting for their door dash, uber eats etc that they hog all the spots. In any case, if you're in the area & looking for a warm delicious thai meal, UP THAI is the spot to go -- also as basic as it sounds their thai salad with homemade thai-peanut dressing is literally one of the best i've ever had.
