B K Thai - Vegan Pad Thai with mock duck - Thai Near Me - Caldwell, New Jersey

This is some of the best Thai around. I'm always surprised that they aren't busier considering the quality of their food. The pad thai is excellent as are so many of their other dishes. I haven't tried anything I haven't loved! read more

Now known as BK Thai, this place has very delicious food and a very attentive staff. Looks like they may do a bit more takeout, but highly recommend sitting in and having a meal. Very low key, but much better than you may expect! read more

Went for dinner with family. Server was pleasant and efficient. We had special dietary needs and she made sure those were understood and met. The food was hot and very tasty and made to the spice levels we requested. She had glasses for the wine we brought and made sure to check back between courses. Had Chicken Dumplings & Chicken Pad Thai, fried rice GF entree, Beef Pad Thai and 2 soups. The background music was quiet but enjoyable. Don't understand why there weren't more guests there this night. I would return immediately! read more

I have been there twice in the last month for lunch and dinner. It is really good now. Whomever is cooking and preparing is doing it as well as any Thai restaurant around. Food was fresh, spice rating was right on. Choices were ample. And the taste is just succulent. Try it. No need to go any further. It is just wonderful. read more

My husband and I came here monthly for romantic dinners when we were dating 10+ years ago. Just picked up takeout while in the area and was disappointed. Chicken satay and steak entree were both overdone, everything was just missing something. Wouldn't order the seafood noodles again. Best dish was the Rama chicken. Possible it's under new ownership? read more

Sorely disappointed.... Maybe they got a new cook or use a different one for lunch time. This cannot be called Thai food or Chinese food- maybe a cross of both? Had no Thai flavors or ingredients in it. Worst I've ever had. read more

This restaurant is a nice spot for a casual dinner. The owners are very friendly and welcoming. The food is great at a reasonable price. I highly recommend the steamed Thai dumplings. It is a small and quiet restaurant. It was not very busy when I went tonight, maybe it gets busier on the weekends, so it was kind of quiet but the owner played music for us. Definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a casual dinner spot! read more

B K Thai - Chicken Pad Khing- chicken and vegetables in a soy ginger sauce, served with white rice - Thai Near Me - Caldwell, New Jersey

I was in Caldwell the other day and needed some lunch. Didn't want pizza, thought about a pub (burger)-then decided...Thai. I had Bangkok Kitchen on my Bookmark list for a very long time and it was time to give them a shot. The place seemed nice enough-not a lot of fancy decor, but nice. I was greeted from across the restaurant by a waitress/cashier and was told to sit anywhere. Since there was only one other table occupied I grabbed one by the front window and checked out the menu. Normally, the first time at a Thai place I will try Pad Thai or a red curry meal...I went crazy today (that's sarcasm) and ordered one of their 'Box" meals. Spicy Basil Chicken, a fried dumpling, Jasmine rice, a spring roll, and a fried banana (dessert) and a Thai iced tea. The meal was very good. I absolutely loved the Basil Chicken-had a nice kick to it without being overly spicy (next time I'll get it a little spicier) and there were nice sized chunks of chicken. The fried dumpling was a little overcooked (too crispy), but tasted great and the spring roll was a bit small. When the waitress brought the meal over I thought to myself, 'self, this isn't enough food...you're HUNGRY'. When I finished I realized that I have to stop listening to my stomach when it's speaking to me and calling me 'self' because it was a perfect portion size. The little fried banana (inside a spring roll wrap I think) covered with cream and a berry compote was really tasty...even if I wanted more. The only part of the meal that was a little weak was the tea. I love Thai iced tea and this one just seemed a little watered down and didn't have the flavor I was expecting. I'm really glad I stopped into Bangkok Kitchen. I'll be in Caldwell a lot and it's nice to know I have a great Thai place like this to eat at when my stomach starts talking to me again... read more

Under new management and now called BK Thai. The interior is still the same but the food is much better. I had the green curry noodles with mock duck and it was delicious. They owner is gracious and welcoming. Definitely recommend. read more

LOVE. Big Thai fan. Was going to Aroy-d their portion size is so small compared to Bangkok! Bangkok chicken is not dry and there is a great variety of vegetables. Their curry puffs are probably the best I have ever had. Will be my staple go to place!!! read more

I've been back twice since my last review (this is my boyfriend's favorite restaurant in the Caldwell area) - and I'm going to have to add another star to my review. My favorites so far have been the lemongrass soup and the pad khing. Make sure to leave room for dessert - I'd suggest either the green tea ice cream or the fried bananas. Why I'm giving it more than 3 stars: the food has always been exceptionally fresh, the portions have always been more than enough, and the service has always been wonderful every time we've went. There is one guy that waits all the tables in the restaurant and he does such a great job at accommodating everyone in a timely manner. read more

Great experience at Bangkok Kitchen this past week! Service was fantastic and employees are very friendly. Food was fresh and delicious, prices and portion sizes were great. We'll be back! read more

B K Thai - I got the see ew with chicken and my boyfriend got the pad Thai with tofu. - Thai Near Me - Caldwell, New Jersey

The Pad Thai was delicious! The service was fantastic and workers were very nice. Definitely would recommend.

Mediocre at best service was good very nice people but the food was weak. Old rice definitely not fresh.

I'm so disappointed. My family and I stopped in here for dinner craving Thai food. I ordered my favorite green curry dish, but it had floating bits in it as though the coconut milk had gone bad, and there was little flavor to it. Worse, my rice had random chunks of hard rice in it as though they reconstituted old rice. The other dishes at the table were mediocre at best. I will say the service was good, but it could not make up for bad food. We will not be returning. read more

Good Thai spiced well with good flavor. Prices a little high. Only have had take out.

Stupendous food- delicious, fresh, authentic, huge portions. Lovely Atmosphere- decorated really cool! Friendly service! We cannot wait to go back! The spring rolls, classic Thai fried rice, and Pad See Ew were EXCELLENT! read more

I love Thai food. That being said, Bangkok Kitchen let me down. We came with friends and ordered a bunch of plates for the table. For appetizers we tried the Grilled Beef Salad, Shrimp Salad, and Steamed Dumplings. The salads were authentically spiced, but lacked the crunchy bite you normally get with similar Thai salads. The steamed dumplings were forgettable. For dinner we ordered the Pad Thai, Bronzini Mediteranean Sea Bass, and the Saute'ed Shrimp & Scallop with Asparagus. The Pad Thai (in my opinion, should be the bread-and-butter of a Thai place), was bland, and lacked the peanuts, tofu, and egg. Instead, the oily noodles and couple pieces of chicken was all we got for $10.95. The Bronzini was very good. The whole fried fish with sweet chili sauce was tasty. It was a wise choice to order the sauce on the side, as it can easily overpower the flavor of the fish. The Saute'ed Shrimp and Scallops did not have a lot of shrimp and scallops. Instead, the plate was filled with cheap vegetables and rice. This was a common theme with every dish. For dessert we ordered the Mango and Sticky rice. This should always be a slam dunk, but instead the rice was dry and the dish lacked flavor. I would have given Bangkok kitchen 2 stars, but added another for BYOB. I would not go back and would not recommend as there are better dining alternatives in the area. read more

Thai iced teas, crunch spicy sweet fishes, pad thai and stealing my fiancee's brocoli.. that was sunday Mmm mmm great. This was some GOOD food. The staff and service was great. The weather, the location, the decor & the window view of cozy and great. Im likely to go right back there next sunday read more

I think it's safe to say this is my favorite thai restaurant in the area. I absolutely LOVE the ambiance - I believe one of the owners actually designed the tables and some of the main pieces in there. The red walls against candle light make for a warm and inviting meal. Foodwise? Everything I've tried has been a WIN. From the pad thai, pineapple fried rice, massamun curry, to green curry - absolutely FANTASTIC and my go-to thai place. I recommend Bangkok Kitchen 1000x times over. It's family owned and you def. feel like you know whose serving you dinner when you've gone there more than once. read more

The apps were really good. I liked the sauces! Chicken satay is cooked perfectly. I've tried the pad thai twice now and it was gross. Little to no flavor :( The rice dishes are pretty good though. read more

Was visiting a college friend in the area and like me she has celiac disease and took me to this charming little restaurant. She told me the owner also has Celiac and asked for the gluten free menu as we had a busy day planned. We both had pad Thai with shrimp added. It was a quick lunch, so I didn't get a chance to really explore the menu. The pad Thai was perfect. The smells from the other dishes were amazing. My friend eats here all the time and loves it. Hope she writes a review because I'm not doing justice to this place. Can't wait to try again!! read more

I was in Fairfield, NJ visiting some family with my brother and we both had a hankering for some Thai food. We looked up restaurants on Yelp and we decided on Bangkok Kitchen. All in all, it ended up being a great decision! The ingredients were fresh, the food flavorful, and the prices left plenty of paper in our wallets to buy dinner. ...too bad we're not locals so we can't come back more regularly! read more

Had another fantastic lunch at BK- I really love this place. I'm SO glad it exists in my little hometown :) Oh, and I tried the Coconut Chicken soup- usually called Tom Kha Ga elsewhere- it was a bit light for my taste and a bit too lime-y, but good. Just a heads up if you're used to it being a bit thicker and less lime-y... read more

All the other reviews are spot -on. We go here pretty frequently, and order out just as much. Food is great, prices are good as well as the atmosphere. It's BYOB and there is a supermarket across the street & a liquor store down the block. read more

This used to be a fave spot of mine (and company) but I believe the management/cook has changed. The food is completely different --not in a good way either! I had beef basil and the basil sauce had the consistency of syrup with a weird taste. I did not eat even 1/2 the plate. It used to be hopping with folks and now, its almost always empty. Time to find a new Thai place! read more

Fairly standard Thai cuisine. The food is absolutely fine, but not on par with some of the better Thai restaurants, should you only travel a few miles on Bloomfield Ave. The food is fresh, the portion sizes generous, and the service more than acceptable. It's a good Thai restaurant for those looking for a quick fix while wanting to stay as local as possible. It's not really a destination restaurant, as they just aren't doing any particular thing on an exceptional level. Like most restaurants of its ilk in north NJ, it's BYOB which helps keep the price point down. While there are a handful of smaller lots nearby, parking will most likely have to take place on the street. read more

For NJ, the Thai food was good. BYOB - plenty of liquor stores around. Not too big, but cozy. Clean restaurant with friendly service. I ordered the green curry, which was good. Sweeter than the red curry, which my friend ordered. I thought the red curry was slightly better. It's your average or slightly above average Thai restaurant that is worth going to if you're in the mood for Thai. read more

My husband and i met some friends here this past weekend and had a wonderful meal. The food was good and the prices were great (it came out to about $20 a person). We brought a ton of wine since it was a BYOB and really had a nice time. The only downfall was that we were seated by the window and there was a really bad draft. We were freezing! read more

Hands down my favorite resteraunt in the area. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing while continuing to hold true to Thai design. The food is excellent- always fresh. It's a family owned resteraunt which is very apparent to anyone who walks in. If you find yourself with a night out in the area, grab a bottle of wine and come by; you'll be glad you did. read more

I've been coming here for years- best Thai place ever! It's on Bloomfield ave next to cloverleaf- there's parking in back or on street. Careful- they will give tickets. Place is very small and does not take reservations. The service takes forever so just plan on that...but it's worth it. It's small owned mom n pop place so support them and respect that they can't afford many waitresses. Wings are delicious. I always get masammum beef and they have chicken available too. It's byob so stop at liquor store down the street. Love this place- support it. read more

Hubby and I stopped here for dinner one night with the kids. While the food was delicious, service was SLOW. There happened to be a car show in Caldwell that night, so I suspect they weren't expecting it to be so busy. That said, one waitress for the entire place doesn't seem right even on a slow night. The pros: Friendly, casual, they rushed the children's food out first, dumplings were delicious, hangar steak was unbelievable. The cons: Thai iced tea was a watery mess, the pad Thai had some runny sauce and didn't taste very peanuty. No shrimp, just chicken and tofu (tofu was tasty). Overall bill was $75 with tip for three entrees and 3 non-alcoholic drinks. Seems high to me, but probably not for this area. I would definitely go here again. read more

Although Bangkok Kitchen is not the most exotic of Thai places, I am always impressed by the tastiness, portion size and veggie options they offer. Many of the non-veg dishes can be modified, which is a pleasure to those of us that tend to rely on the same one or two dishes in other establishments. My husband and I had dinner at Bangkok Kitchen this evening, and I realized we have to go there more than our usual twice a year. The setting, moreover, has flair, and the servers are always pleasant and friendly. The owner, whom I have met on several of my visits, always checks up on customers as they enjoy their meals. On weekday evenings, getting a table is a cinch. One weekends or during the holiday season, however, Bangkok Kitchen might be packed. If you would like wine with your dinner, bring your own. The bill at the end of the evening is a bit of a surprise, for the same meal elsewhere might cost 20% more. Parking in downtown Caldwell can be a bit of a challenge, so come prepared with coins for the meters on nearby streets. read more

I have been coming here for years and they never disappoint. So much better than the other Thai restaurants in Montclair, Verona and Parsippany. The hangar steak is addictive and the wide rice noodles with basil & chili is delicious. Having traveled extensively in Asia, I really appreciate Bangkok Kitchen and their fresh and subtle flavors. read more

BYOB! no corkage fee...and a supermarket and wine store are with a 5 min. walking radius. Service was a little slow but very friendly and helpful with the menu selection. I'd recommend anything written on the big chalk board. Whole branzino fried perfectly crispy on the outside and flakey white delicate inside was perfectly paired with a spicy sweet chili sauce. I ate 3/4 by myself before sharing some with my tablemates. Curry noodles with shrimp, chicken and asian sausage was lightly flavored- the curry taste did not overpower any other ingredient. Friends also liked their pad kee mow and pad thai but I didn't try them. read more

This is my second time here and they just so happen to have a restaurant week special. I got veggie spring rolls, pad see Ew with chicken, and mango ice cream for $14.95. The food was really good. The Thai tea is the best. The only issue is the servers rarely come to the table. read more
