Came here yesterday because we wanted to try a new sushi spot. This has been the most impressive spot in the area yet. Food: my wife and I started with a really delectable smoked salmon sushi. We treated ourselves to a spring roll appetizer which came out really hot, but tasted really good with a Thai chili sauce. I got the Goofy roll, which I thought is probably one of my favorite roles in the area, and the salmon avocado roll. The salmon really stood out to me is being really fresh. My wife got a kiss of fire roll, which was a nice, enjoyable specialty. Service: I do not know our gentleman's name that helped us, but he was on top of everything and super nice from the moment we walked in. I can think of only two or three sushi restaurants I've been to with service like this. Ambiance: it has a deceivingly high number of seats for the small location. Came here for dinner with some friends and got the love boat as well as two other rolls. The rolls were not bad but the sashimis weren't that good. The tuna was way too fishy and the other fish were pretty mid. The salmon was probably the best cut and the yellowtail probably second. The scallion pancake was just okay taste like frozen version. Came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon and had a great experience! The server was super friendly and helpful and the food came out quick with great portions! The food itself was great! I've had some recent experiences with some other local places that didn't season their rice enough so the sushi was tasteless but didn't have that issue here! Also the server overheard it was recently my birthday from my friends and added a candle to our dessert without having to be prompted by anyone in my group! To-date, my favourite place in the area had been Denville's Miga Sushi - but that has recently changed when a group of my work buddies discovered Ai-Sakae as our next "team lunch-out" destination. I've not seen a wider selection of Vegetarian sushis than here (try their Green Tree Roll with Kiwi topping and you'll know what I mean...) - and I've never felt not hungry few hours after having had sushi for lunch (blame my fast metabolism), as the portions are reasonably big. Wide selection of rolls that will satisfy any raw seafood (or exclusively veggies...in a roll...) fan, unexpectedly big pieces of sushi. Their Miso is fantastic - not luke warm like in some other places, and feels freshhhh... salad is unconventionally good, too, as they seem to add a variety of greens in it - which isn't typical to a side salad typically served alongside sushi lunch specials. I visited Ai-Sakae with a friend for dinner on a weeknight after confirming that the restaurant can do gluten-free rolls. They have gluten-free sauce available, which is always a plus! As for the rolls, I enjoyed all of my order minus the seaweed salad roll. I thought it could have been fresher or maybe it just doesn't work well as a roll. The service was excellent from start to finish, we felt attended to. The seating is a bit close, but it wasn't bad at all during our visit. I noticed that other diners had more complex orders than we did, but the plating looked beautiful. We have been patrons of AiSakae for over a year- sometimes we do takeout twice a week. We loved the place and have recommended so many of our friends. Today we were charged for extra ginger and spicy mayonnaise- a condiment which does not make sense. When we asked to take it off we were told no. A solid Asian restaurant with plenty of options of different cuisines if you're undecided. They cater to mainly Japanese/Chinese dishes on the menu. In terms of taste, I would say my particular go-to dish of eggplant was a little more on the sweet side so I didn't really take to it. Also the agedashi tofu didn't have the crunchy outside texture/shape we are accustomed to.. it was kinda strange it was cut in rectangular shapes since it's usually cube shape which distributes the texture to the palate better. However, the ginger sauce of the green salad appetizer and sweet potato roll was on point! Overall, they are thoughtful attending to your requests about your dishes, additional condiments, and about other seating preferences. I would say the service is STELLAR. The first few times we got food here (the first time was the first week they were open) we've gotten sushi and Thai and the food was excellent. Sushi tasted great, rolls were good sized for the price, and the Thai food was very tasty, though not as spicy as I'm used to. Tonight we ordered Pad Thai with chicken, Red Curry with chicken, a Teriyaki Chicken Bento Box and a Kani salad. The meals were excellent as usual, the portions were large, and the prices are comparable to similar restaurants in the area. Had this been my first time here I probably would have taken a star away, but I know tonight was an anomaly. Honestly, I wish the inside was a bit bigger because we'd come eat here in person. The former owners of a spot in Cedar Knolls. I am so happy I was able to find them. Their sushi is super fresh and just like their old spot used to be. Their lunch specials - 3 rolls - hits the spot and is perfectly priced. I am boring when I order sushi - so spicy tuna (very fresh and a nice kick) and shrimp tempura ( lightly fried and fresh as well) always hit the spot. Lunch comes with soup or salad. All for around 13-15 buck. And they deliver within a 5 mile radius (just within the limits of where I work). They are officially on our rotation of lunch spots. Relatively new restaurant in Parsippany. Opened late November 2021. Wonderful new addition to the town. Arrived with a group of friends and were warmly welcomed and seated by our server, Stanley. A shout out to Manager, Lynnsie, was also extremely accommodating during our visit. The venue is small,but immaculately clean, cozy, casual (but somewhat semi elegant), comfortable, well lighted and thoughtfully decorated. Ai Sakae is a BYOB, offers take out, dine in, delivery, catering, and can accommodate special dietary requests. There is plenty of off street parking, as it is situated in a small strip mall off Tabor Road. The menu, which is extensive, is an interesting mixed bag of diverse Japanese, Chinese, and Thai cuisine. It is not just a Sushi restaurant, but the Chef/Owner, Ken, serves artfully crafted and mouth watering Sushi/Sashimi selections. Everything our group ordered met or exceeded our expectations. Clearly, everything (especially the fish) was very fresh and carefully prepared and presented. Definitely a place to try when you have a yen for Asian cuisine. I finally found my Goldilocks of Asian food in Morris county. My husband usually wants Chinese where I lean more towards Japanese/sushi but this place literally has it all. I got a salmon bento box (ton of food for $20) , delicious. My sweet potato roll was also great.
