Sushi & Go is a no-frills, low-key, aptly named restaurant between downtown Denville and Route 10. Their lunch menu's most expensive item - meaning there's options that're even more affordable - is a $15 bento box that includes a special roll, a choice of regular rolls or sashimi, 3 shumai, miso soup, AND salad. If you're sick of spending money to eat out, it's objectively a lot of food. So I ordered the bento box. My Godzilla roll was the star of the plate: it was soft, moist, and a melody of textures in my mouth, and only lightly fried so as only to gain crispiness without imparting oil flavor. The shumai followed close behind, for there the oil was more obvious. My rolls and remaining sushi were fresh enough, particularly the avocado, although for me the rice grains are a smidge dry. The apps came out first and came out promptly. I enjoyed the tangy Japanese salad dressing and crisp, fresh lettuce. The miso soup was just OK, and I think it should be served hotter. Is it the best sushi in Denville? No; look to Ai Sakae for that. But the managing team comes off earnest and pleasant, and you can be in and out quickly. On a Saturday at 1p, myself and a father tending to two young girls were the only customers.

Ordered a party tray and the sushi was amazing! I ended up ordering again a few days later for the lunch special and it comes with soup and salad. The lunch special was so filling and satisfying. I can't wait to go back again for their lunch specials and to try their other dishes.

The big snow storm happened weeks ago, and yet the parking lot had less spots because the snow was piled up on top of them, so we had to maneuver our way into a "made up" spot instead. Also, lately we have noticed that they have no chili oil on house for us to make our ramen spicier, which was a bit disappointing too. Again, the broth is really good and the service is nice too, we were just disappointed with these two inconveniences.

I had the Korean Kimchi soup ($17), a fabulous concoction of ramen noodles in a slightly spicy miso broth served with spam, kimchi, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo, wood-ear mushrooms, and corn. My dining companion had the Tokyo Chicken soup ($16) with udon noodles in a slightly spicy miso broth served with sliced teriyaki chicken, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo, wood-ear mushrooms, and corn. My carb-conscious dining companion seemed mildly surprised the chicken filet in her soup was breaded, rather than grilled.. but adjusted expectations accordingly. Both soups were served quickly and were fantastic. The portion sizes of our soups were very filling and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Parking is available in the front AND back of the building. The parking lot in front of the building facing NJ Route 10 can fill up quickly, but there is plenty of space in the parking lot behind the building and there are entrances in the front and back of the building.

And when I sat down inside this ultra-casual restaurant - I'm pretty sure that it's a converted residential house - I only saw my fellow diners ordering sushi. So don't come here for ramen; come for an incredibly tasty, inexpensive sushi experience. I had an amazing roll, and let me tell you, the presentation is stunning. It came out sizzling on cast iron, while my server spooned garlic sauce over the top to cook it and add dazzle. Filled with avocado and spicy tuna, the portion would be perfect for sharing with someone. I also had a dynamite roll, which more or less melted in my mouth. I was less wild about the Christian crosses at every table. I'm a secular person. All in all though, Asahi qualifies as a hidden, off-the-beaten-path gem of Parsippany.

If you like garlic, withhold expectations and absolutely give it a go. The contrast was an unbelievable experience--it was crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. There was sweetness, balanced by a tiny touch of spicy from the tuna plus heavy garlic in the sauce. The roll is served on a scorching hot cast iron tray, contrasted by the cool sushi inside. Every bite was a battle of soft and crispy, sweet and spicy, hot and cool--we finished it and immediately ordered a second roll. *As a nod to another review, I will acknowledge that the room got a little smoky immediately after the Amazing Roll was served and the waitress/hostess did elastic-bungee the door open for a few minutes to clear the air, but the air was clear and the door was shut soon after. If I were to change anything about our experience here, it would only be to stop at the two other occupied tables on my way out to preach about this roll and highly recommend they give it a try. I was so shocked when I saw it that I completely neglected to get a picture, and for that I apologize. Please accept this picture of the write up as a token.

The person who took my order was very nice and you could tell she was passionate about the food she brings to her customers. When I first heard of this restaurant, I was hesitant about the quality of the food, due to the fact that it is multiple Asian cuisines under one roof. However, once I took a bite of my food, my concerns were gone. I ordered the Veggie Ramen (Spicy). Trust me, the spice really brings out the flavor. The noodles were perfectly cooked it holds firms on the chopsticks. You have the option to either have your tofu steamed or fried (I chose fried). The black fungus gives a meaty texture to the dish, which works well for any vegetarians missing out. The real star of the dish, in my opinion, is the broth. This is where the flavor really comes from; the savory elements blends with the noodles and the tofu every time you dip your chopsticks. The crunchiness from the corn, scallions, and bamboo shoots balances out the noodles. After this fantastic experience, I have no doubt that I will return to Kazu and relive it all over again!

The Mrs. (who is the real connoisseur when it comes to ramen, I'm just a wannabe) thought the portion was a bit on the 'wimpy' side (for the price) but I was content. My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Friday evening during a weekend trip to High Point State Park. They only had nine beers on tap but there was nice variety and excellent quality in the lineup. Several IPA's and hazy ales but also a grisette, a German pilsner, an English mild and a milk stout. They don't offer flights. Interestingly enough, as much as I enjoy flights at breweries, I've actually found that not offering them is usually a good sign as it is the mark of a brewery that is serious about beer and knows what they are doing. This was true for Autodidact as each beer was excellent. Five star beer but four star taproom. 6 o'clock on a Friday night but only about seven other people there so it was kind of dead. I didn't enjoy the dim, colored lighting or the cold concrete slab bar. We were sitting at the bar and I hated that the only menu available was behind us so we constantly had to turn around to look at what we wanted next. No beers available in the to go fridge but they were able to make us a few crowlers.
