    Always up for another brewery
    Steve S.

I love a good brewery...and Autodidact was a hit with our neighbors and me. While I only had two beers - the porter and the grisette - they were both fantastic. I'd never had a grisette before and while I'm WAY more of a porter/stout guy, this grisette was a home run. This place is way bigger than I ever expected and the simple decor and furniture oddly made it very welcoming...as did the bartenders. Since this place is fairly close I foresee many future visits.

I've been in NJ now for a few weeks. I live close by here and never got the chance to come in once they opened. I am so happy I chose to walk in and try it out. The beer is exceptional, and well prepared with unique flavors and options. The atmosphere is very inviting. A zen mixed with modern which brings a calming but fun experience. The service is always smiling and ready to hand you a 12oz or 16oz beer for your enjoyment! A must stop on your "craft beer" trails in NJ.

I visited the Autodidact brewery this week. It was a Saturday about 3 pm in the afternoon. Their were a few patrons sampling their beer beer selections along with a larger group that had children ages 5-10 year. I like kids but at breweries. The kids were playing with large wooden blocks that seem to be falling on the hard floors with a resounding vibration. This was not an enjoyable experience for me or my guest. This was the worst part of my experience. The nice part is that the cheerful female bartender immediately greeted us as we walked in and offered samples if we wished. Two samples can be tasted for free. I loved that. We selected the amber larger (5.1 abv) $6 for 12 ounces and the Solace (8.0 abv) $8 for 12 ounces). The beer comes in 4 oz, 12 oz. and 16 oz.. Their are no flights. Both beers were to our liking but I really did not care for her Solace. Snacks are offered like tortilla chips, guacamole and chips and pretzels. You can bring your own food or order delivered food. A food truck arrives on selected days and if you visit their online website the days are posted. If you have a service dog they are invited. All other dogs must remain on the outside patio.

Enjoyed a few beers during our first visit. Service by Ethan was great -- realized we had some friends in common. Music was spinning on an actual record player. We left with some 4 packs. Nice large space. We'll definitely go back...

Great little spot to have a drink or two! Beer selections are always on par with what my husband and I like so we keep coming back. Beer tenders are knowledgeable of the beers and make recommendations.

I haven't been to all of them, but this is the best brewery in NJ, just saying! Right out the gate (grand opening 03/24) Autodidact is brewing perfection, and they have something for everyone -- their tap list is super diverse. I absolutely love the interior, which reflects their naturey/wanderer theme in a really modern way. I can't wait to see these guys soar.

Tried this spot last night. Great beer, atmosphere and service. We will be regularly returning ! We loved the day lily beer!

We came right before opening and waited in the car for the doors to open. Upon entering there were several people doing the same thing which speaks volumes for this place. It got busy right away and there was some type of event going on in the back too. Everyone was there to enjoy their beers and boy were they enjoyable. The girl who waited on us was very nice and honest as she gave my gf her brand new Chanel sunglasses she had left on the counter earlier when we were ordering. Thank you! This place has chill brewery vibes as you can see their production area and it's pretty spacey and I love how they are in an old post office building. They have a lot of board games to play while enjoying your beers and they also sell some merch. We ordered a flight: - Resting Grinch Face, Winter Warmer 5/5 - Terrible Twos Anniversary, Imperial Hazy IPA 5/5 - Kite and Key, Hazy IPA 5/5 - BOO-Yah, American Porter 5/5 Every beer was tasty af!!! I love this place and I look forward to my next visit. Thanks again for everything :) Sláinte

On a Sunday night, we were surprised to see so many people enjoying the evening. This place is popular with folks enjoying time with their family and friends and it even looked like a couple of small celebrations were taking place, which made our hearts happy. Loved them all and they have much more on tap, including hard seltzers as gluten-free options. Play a board game, watch sports on their TV, bring your own food, shoot some darts, and do a toast to what a wonderful year 2024 has been! Many of Glenbrook's beers are named after the revolutionary period, such as their Midnight Ride American Nitro Stout. And be sure to check out the "paintings" of the staff members on their website. You won't be disappointed. Parking is a challenge as the brewery is located in the downtown area without a dedicated parking lot. My girlfriend and I came on a Sunday afternoon and were only able to find street parking a few blocks away. The taproom itself is a beautiful warehouse style space with small decorative revolutionary flourishes, views of the brewing equipment, a long bar but no seating at the bar, long wooden tables and plenty of high top tables, and more than enough tv's to show NFL football. A side business called Salt Pepper Ketchup (a man selling food off a flattop grill and a fryer) was located in the corner. His food looked incredible but we didn't try any. The beer was pretty good, all decent renditions of their respective styles. We each tried a flight and enjoyed what we had. Good beer, good food, football on the tv, friendly staff, decent sized crowd but not obnoxiously full... all in all great Sunday vibes and we would totally come back.

[Blowing on my nails.] The menu is a mix of American comfort food and gastropub classics, but with flair, and has a bit of everything to satisfy different palates. Our eyes were probably bigger than our stomachs as we ordered 2 apps, 2 entrees, and 2 cocktails, and it was an enormous amount of food. The portions are definitely what you'd call hearty, and everything was very tasty. Thursdays are all day happy hour so we picked the fried calamari appetizer at the HH price (still a full and generous plate and didn't seem like a downsized version) which were tender and well-battered, as well as the hot honey wings which were meaty and substantial. The short rib parpadelle with housemade pasta and a perfectly medium-rare, well seasoned hanger steak with truffle fries completed our satisfying and belly-stuffing meal. The cocktails are serious as well - the presence of a drink with egg white is my personal litmus test for a bar that knows what it's doing, so the Thyme to Bloom special had my name on it. I'm salivating just looking at photos of dishes I didn't order, and am already plotting my return!

Finally we had a chance to visit recently, enticed by the Hungarian folk band and gulyás (goulash) being featured that day. The place was absolutely packed and lively, with an enthusiastic crowd and some surprisingly good traditional dancers among the patrons. I was chatting with a local regular who told me it's usually a good crowd on the weekend but not like this. Guess the band and gulyás really brought out the throng! They've got a solid core range of beers - IPAs, lagers, stouts, sours - and special/seasonal flavors too, and even have their own hard seltzer line for those non-beer drinkers. I'm not an IPA person but lots of people seem to like their hazy IPAs (which my husband ordered). I stuck with my usual wheat beer and had a Belgian white...with blueberry! Delicious. The laid back and friendly vibe, down-to-earth crowd, and bright interiors with café-like seating areas all make Tribesmen a relaxing place to keep company. The calendar is filled with events such as trivia night, karaoke night, live music, and quaint social activities like crochet & sip and bonsai bar. All's to say I'd hang out here a lot more if I didn't have parenting responsibilities, though this does seem like a pretty family friendly place. They don't serve food but do welcome you to bring outside food or to order in (always a plus), though sometimes they have food trucks on the weekends. Egészségedre!
