Wayne, NJ - I've ordered and enjoyed Seven Tribesmen brews at various area restaurants and bars, and we've been meaning to come by here for a while. Finally we had a chance to visit recently, enticed by the Hungarian folk band and gulyás (goulash) being featured that day. The place was absolutely packed and lively, with an enthusiastic crowd and some surprisingly good traditional dancers among the patrons. I was chatting with a local regular who told me it's usually a good crowd on the weekend but not like this. Guess the band and gulyás really brought out the throng! They've got a solid core range of beers - IPAs, lagers, stouts, sours - and special/seasonal flavors too, and even have their own hard seltzer line for those non-beer drinkers. I'm not an IPA person but lots of people seem to like their hazy IPAs (which my husband ordered). I stuck with my usual wheat beer and had a Belgian white...with blueberry! Delicious. The laid back and friendly vibe, down-to-earth crowd, and bright interiors with café-like seating areas all make Tribesmen a relaxing place to keep company. The calendar is filled with events such as trivia night, karaoke night, live music, and quaint social activities like crochet & sip and bonsai bar. All's to say I'd hang out here a lot more if I didn't have parenting responsibilities, though this does seem like a pretty family friendly place. They don't serve food but do welcome you to bring outside food or to order in (always a plus), though sometimes they have food trucks on the weekends. Egészségedre! read more

NJ has no shortage of craft breweries, and 7T definitely worth adding to your list. It's not central if you live in Hudson County, but is an easy (and very pleasant) drive off route 23. The beer list is strong, especially if you enjoy hazy IPAs. They also have other drink choices for anyone who isn't a beer drinker - but I was here to taste. There's plenty available to take home, and it was tough to pick just a few because everything I tried was solid. The inside is walk up to the bar self serve (very quick) and if you want to sit out back under the tent they have some kegs out there to make it even faster, but you can order anything you want and they will bring it from the main taps. Oh, also, buy a glass and bring it home. Having one of their 16oz cans poured in their glass somehow makes it taste that much better. If you are doing an NJ beer crawl, which you absolutely should be, make sure this is on your list. read more

I always enjoy coming to the Tribesman for it's warm and cozy vibes. I am not personally a beer drinker but their homemade hard seltzer is delicious. I recently stopped in and tried the root beer seltzer which was so good. I can't wait to come back for more. Service is always friendly and happy to give their recommendations. Select weekends they host various local food trucks since they do not serve food. They also have live music, trivia, board games, and other types of events throughout the year. In the summertime they have an outdoor seating area behind the back parking lot. Parking can be challenging on a busy night but they also share a lot on the left side of the brewery. Cool brewery. Service was good. Plenty of inside seating with a cool vibe. Nice pic nic style area out back. All of the beers that we tried in our flight were great. We had the Brewers Choice flight, our friends had the Summer Selection. Welcome to the Hive was amazing. I wanted to bring home a 4 pack, but they didn't have any available. Ugh! I forgot to give a shout out for me the best tasting brewery i have been to. I have tried various flights and in most brewery's some are good some are bad. Not here. Their beers are fantastic and cater to all tastes. I been there 3 x and the beers are terrific. They have bands which is cool. It is off the beaten path but we were on our way to Viaggio and my wife found this place. Yelp of course. Seems like a local place pretty chill. Small place think a old home converted. The owners were childhood friends both Hungarians. The brewery is earmarked as a Hungarian/American Brewery but after tasting their beers, I could not tell you why. The Seven Tribesmen (Eurasian Huns) merged and created what eventually became HUNgary. It was a beautiful warm sunny day in late October and I took Oatie to be groomed. The grooming place is virtually adjacent to the Seven Tribesmen Brewery, well done my friend. Well, while Oatie was getting groomed (not something he likes) I thought I'd have a few beers and watch some football. They have a flat screen TV. You can ask to try some samples of the 12 beers they offer for free or buy a 4 beer flight for $13. After 4 sample runs I decided on the REKA, an India Pale Lager, ABV 5.5, Tall glass $7.85, Short glass $5 and if you care for a four pack $13. It is not the cheapest beer you can buy but I enjoyed the taste. It is brewed from Bew Zealand Wai-iti-hops and has notes of peaches and ripe apricots and a hint of lemon. The Seven Tribesmen has outside Beer Garden type seating with heaters in the Fall. Inside they have a livingroom style seating and arrangement, a bar area, and an adjacent area to the bar of tables and chairs with a flat screen TV. I got a very comfortable relaxed feeling visiting. Great brewery spot! The interior of this brewery is very sophisticated and aesthetically pleasing. Attended a trivia night here and had a blast. I like that you can bring your own food. The back outdoor seating was spacious. The parking was a little tight and the second lot is a little scary to walk to at night as it is near a busy road. The beer itself was tasty. Was able to sample a few flavors out before placing my order. Didn't know that the beers in higher content were served in much smaller cups. Wish that was mentioned prior to me ordering my drink. I would have grabbed something else had I known. The toasted beer was fantastic. I only had a sample, but I'll be ordering that next time I come. Overall the place is great and the staff is friendly. As a brewery, the beer selection is great but with dumb NJ laws, not much food action HOWEVER, drop in at Pete's Meats, grab some chicken & ribs and get it to go and find one of the many outdoor tables and chow down with a beer or cider...or be cozy indoors. It hurts me to write this review because I have met the owners and they seem like lovely nice hard working people, but I have to be honest. The Great: - The beer is really amazon! - The ambience is fun and relaxing but feels like you are legit tavern - Staff - super nice, fun, and caring - Price - rather reasonable in the grand scheme of things. - Events - great selection events. Why this place gets 3 Stars From Me: - Misleading website advertising: My group and I came to enjoy Oktoberfest. I understand they had issues with their food vendor so Oktoberfest was essentially canceled. Instead of updating their website, no updates were made. We (those interested in and hungry for Oktoberfest experiences promised on the website) felt really misled, and most of all super hungry given the lack of food options. - Lack of standard customer experiences: There are lots of standard customer experiences that I have seen in backyard farm lot breweries that this place doesn't even have. a. Food options beyond some bags of chips and frozen cold cuts (most breweries have way more options). Alternatively, many breweries have a preferred partnership with a nearby. b. First come first serve chaos. With zero means to make reservations and it being crazy busy on a Sunday, I would be afraid of this place if there is no means for a table reservation for a fee or a call waiting type system So bottom line. This place is good for: a. Bad weather days or awkward times of the day b. Small groups c. Beer only where you bring your own food d. Events e. Break ups (its loud enough and there is a easy exit). f. If you love talking to owners of places to learn their life story This place is probably not good for: a. I love this place! They have a great outdoor seating area with nice tables and umbrellas and with so many trees on the one side you do feel like your in the woods! The beer is pretty good I had the Gambit which was great but my favorite was the peach ! I swear it rated like a fresh picked peach! It was outstanding. My only negative is that when you purchase a mixed four pack to go they only let you have one of each beer . We had wanted two peaches and two gambits but they said you can only get one of each so we ended up not buying anything. read more

I've driven passed this place so many times and had no idea what it was but loved color paint of the building. Turns out it's a brewery. They didn't offer any tours or anything like that, probably because of covid. They have an indoor and outdoor area for you to try their beers. The indoor area isn't that big, but the outdoor area was. I think you have to call to reserve a section. They also provide menus for local food delivery services in case your hungry. I tried the 2 lagers from the menu and they were both very good. Everybody that I was with seemed to enjoy their beer as well. I hung out in the outdoor area. Music was playing softly in the background and a couple people let me pet their dogs so it was a good time. read more

Brought my wife here since she wanted to go to a new brewery for Valentines Day... appears to be the new weekly trend. Food: coming into the place you can tell they were already invested in their beers. For a local brewery that opened less than a year ago, it's impressive how many they have on tap. As seen in the last picture, she chose a blonde ale (Morning Star), sour (Hudson Hurdle), New England IPA (Horizon), and stout (All MASHed Up). She also got the Rhineland Kölsch, but she honestly could not pick her favorite. Service: our servers were both fantastic and professional. Knowledgeable about the beers and friendly, definitely run a good business. Aesthetic: biggest takeaway I think is that this is the most interesting and beautiful brewery I have been do. Ergonomic enough for small social activity, yet absolutely stunning and allows for their own personality to shine. I look forward to bringing people back here. read more

We stopped by today on our way home after a hike and loved everything about Seven Tribesman! We tried the blonde and the NEIPA and loved both equally -- they have growlers and crowlers too, so we were able to take some home with us. We were pretty hungry after the hike, so we also appreciated that we could order food straight to the brewery. The staff was really attentive, and one of the owners/brewers checked in a few times to see how we liked everything and share some of the story behind the brewery. Good health and safety measures in place, and it's cool that you can either order from the booth or straight from the QR code at your table. I hope the patio can stay permanently, but the inside also looked amazing! read more

Been here multiple times and it continues to please. Seven Tribesman is located in an old Victorian home that is spacious, very comfortable and nicely laid out. Clean crisp venue enhances the experience. Servers alway on point and knowledgeable of the product. After multiple visits I've noticed how accommodating the staff tends to be. About a dozen choice beers with an occasional change on the list. The brew is still developing, would like to see another Stout added to the list. Great place, worth a visit. read more

Seven Tribesmen is the 111th brewery that I have visited in New Jersey alone. They are definitely a fancier and more formal brewery in general. That is noticeable in the fact that it is a beautiful old house that's been renovated into a brewery and also how it's more regulated in terms of service. The crowd there is more upscale, too. To be frank - The beers taste fledgling to me. I'm not gonna hold it against them so much because they are still less than a year old. There have also been times when I have subsequently visited a brewery a year later and found their beers to be vastly improved. But generally, their beers tasted malty and flat. They weren't necessarily unique from each other either. If I was going to guess, I would say that the person brewing is not the owner, and investors got together to establish this place. But that's just my speculation. Getting back to the formal service end - Upon arriving I walked right up to the main counter, but then I immediately got the vibe that I was supposed to move away. Upon leaving at the end, too, I apparently attempted to go out the main door, which I was not allowed to do. However, I thought the table service was efficient after I sat down. He also asked whether I enjoyed the beers, which I greatly appreciated. Just keep in mind that it's tableservice only right now, and there might be some idiosyncratic COVID-19 restrictions that are not immediately apparent. Overall, one of the most beautiful buildings you've seen for a brewery. It has a very upscale feel. It's just that the beers have a little ways to go. But there's lots of potential, and meanwhile it's a great place to hang out if you live locally in the area. read more

This place is such a great spot. Exactly what Wayne needed. I first came here in the summer shortly after they opened and sat in the back patio/beer garden area. It's very nicely set up with lights and picnic tables (& COVID friendly!) The staff is very nice, helpful and they answer any questions that we had regarding the beers. Also, the selection of beers has grown since I first visited this place. I went a few weeks ago and sat indoors and there was about 9 beers on the menu. Indoors, they offer flights which is nice to try a few different kinds of beer all at once. The prices aren't bad either! The only thing I recommend, if you are sitting in the patio area in the summer time, use bug spray! The mosquitoes are insane! read more

hands down one of the most beautiful and creative brewery in the game right now. this is such a cool spot to chill and relax. the inside part has high top tables, a bar, and multiple areas with couches and lounge areas. you are basically at home here, which makes it so welcoming. its truly beautiful and impressive. that being said, if you want to keep it more casual - head outside to the beer garden. theres parking and a covered area. bar service too. good music. inside you will find an array of beer selection, a little bit for everyone, and i enjoyed their beer. i came here in 2020 and wasnt impressed, but i am glad 3 yrs later they have really grown. lastly, they have some beer slushy drinks. SO COOL. no other brewery has this going for them and i was glad to try it. staff is friendly and so down to earth. cant wait to come back! read more

I like this place. Why? The beer garden is nice with a nature feeling. Plenty of picnic tables with umbrellas for 2-6 people; trees surrounding the area and wood chip covered ground. The beer is good, like the Kolsch and Porter. I didn't get a chance to try their peach blond as it was sold out (next time). The brewery itself looks cool. So, I almost missed this place coming on hwy 23 because of the exit; it would be good if there was a sign to direct us to the brewery. My friend ordered from Uber Eats, and the driver missed the exit too. You need to make reservations on their website to secure a table, and you pretty much can do it the day before. The server was very accommodating. We were at a table that had too much sunlight even though there was an umbrella. So we asked and the server was able to sit us at another table with more shade. The beer comes in cups filled to the rim and lidded; almost wanted to ask for a straw (hehe). The parking area is not that big, probably less than 15 spaces, so come early. I will definitely be coming back to try other beers. read more

I have zero idea as to how people can leave negative reviews for this place, as my experience was nothing short of positive. I drive by daily and finally got a chance to stop in with my other half. The beer garden and band out back were a lot of fun. Staff was very courteous and friendly. It was a lot of fun to talk with them. I REALLY enjoyed Hourglass, which was a beer they were offering when I visited. It's amazing what they've done with the inside. Food truck out back was awesome. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Not only are their beers great, the people who run it are so extremely kind and friendly! I went there last weekend (their opening weekend) and picked up 3 of their different beers to try them. We shared some with friends, and it was a MASSIVE hit. The flavors are so true to their descriptions, and are just so incredibly delicious! Perfect for a hot summer day. We loved them so much, we ordered again this weekend, this time doubling our order!
