    8.Korean Kimchi Ramen

Located in a nondescript strip mall on NJ Route 10 in Morris Plains (then again, is there any other kind of strip mall on Nj Route 10 in Morris Plains?), Tokyo Ramen serves up a variety of tasty made-to-order Japanese cuisine -- including ramen noodle soups and platters, BBQ skewers, and a small selection of hot and cold appetizers -- in a very casual ambiance served by efficient and friendly staff. I had the Korean Kimchi soup ($17), a fabulous concoction of ramen noodles in a slightly spicy miso broth served with spam, kimchi, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo, wood-ear mushrooms, and corn. My dining companion had the Tokyo Chicken soup ($16) with udon noodles in a slightly spicy miso broth served with sliced teriyaki chicken, a soft-boiled egg, bamboo, wood-ear mushrooms, and corn. My carb-conscious dining companion seemed mildly surprised the chicken filet in her soup was breaded, rather than grilled.. but adjusted expectations accordingly. Both soups were served quickly and were fantastic. The portion sizes of our soups were very filling and the prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We will definitely be back! PRO TIP #1: Parking is available in the front AND back of the building. The parking lot in front of the building facing NJ Route 10 can fill up quickly, but there is plenty of space in the parking lot behind the building and there are entrances in the front and back of the building.

Three and a half stars: disappointing and forgettable. Small space in a strip mall on Route 10 with a small parking lot in front. Friendly service. Okay ambiance. Ordered tonkotsu ramen; served quickly. And that might be where the problem lies: it was served too quickly, meaning everything was just about ready, and lacked a moment of attention. The broth was delicious, the noodles seemed tired: my guess is they were almost ready and got dipped into boiling water for half a minute to get them ready; that isn't enough. The egg was good. The pork belly was paper thin and tasted like bacon; now, I love bacon, but not in ramen. The sum of the parts wasn't much above average, maybe a bit above average, and that just isn't good enough. With so many other choices, I can't see going back. When I left I wasn't hungry, but I wasn't thrilled: 3.5 stars.

I came for lunch with my dad on Sunday and the staff was so nice. My father is in a wheelchair so they opened the door for us before and after as well as sat us in a very convenient table to accommodate his wheelchair. We ordered their yaki udon and a vegetable ramen. Both were really good. I will note that the vegetable ramen came with a meat broth, but they did asked if we wanted to change to a vegetarian broth. My dad really enjoyed the pork dumplings as well as the scallion pancakes which were both fried hot and crispy. The inside of the restaurant is very clean as well as their bathrooms. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fast, casual place to eat.

So happy that I found this place! Hands down one of the best ramen places I've been too. The broth was delicious! I love all the variety and that you can pick your own noodle type. I also really really enjoyed how they make their pork, that was a highlight for me. The location and parking is enough. The waiters are really friendly. All around top spot!

We ordered to-go here for a quick dinner option. The menu has a lot to choose from, and the prices for the serving sizes are very reasonable. The edamame ($6) was nicely steamed with a little crunch and the chicken skewers came two to an order ($7). The chicken was a little dry, but you can choose/modify your spice level so maybe a different sauce other than mild would have been a little less dry. The ramen came in a smaller than expected for a dinner portion ($16). What was odd was that we ordered the teriyaki chicken but it came breaded and fried like chicken tenders - no teriyaki flavor and not grilled. Would not recommend or get this particular bowl again, but I would definitely try others.

Today, I had some of the best ramen outside of Tokyo!! I tried their most popular ramen, the number 1, which had pork, mushrooms, corn, and an egg. It was absolutely outstanding. I loved the perfect melding of all of the flavors accompanied by a bold and rich broth. This will definitely be my go-to spot when I'm in the mood for ramen!

    Tokyo Steak Ramen (~$18)
    Aya E.

Ordered: Tokyo Steak Ramen (~$18): steak, bamboo shoots, corn, half marinated egg, wakame, scallions, nori, and red ginger; mild spice Aya's take: I know it's been a few months since opening but Tokyo Ramen could not have opened at a better time! I mean what is better than a soothing bowl of ramen on a cold day? I was extremely impressed with the quality of the Tokyo Steak Ramen. The broth was not overly salty and had a lot of depth. The steak was tender and juicy and something about the onions on top took it to the next level. The marinated egg was perfectly cooked, as well. My only complaint is that there was way too much corn in the bowl and I wish all the ingredients were equally distributed (rather than just the cheaper ones). Other than that, it was a great bowl of ramen and I highly recommend stopping by if you're in the area!

It was on our list to come here since we moved to Denville but somehow never got to it. We finally came here for dinner last weekend on a chilly cold Saturday, it was a prefect day to enjoy some ramen. We ordered 2 different kinds of ramen...ohh man, the ramen was perfect oozing with the bold flavors. Everything starting from broth, noodle consistency and all the toppings were just perfect. We are going to make this our local favorite ramen spot!!

Glad to have a Ramen restaurant in the area and this place is really great! It's gorgeous inside and there are these futuristic pods for bigger parties! The service is very attentive, the ramen was delicious, and the prices are reasonable. We tried the tonkotsu ramen and the spicy miso ramen and both were very good and came with A LOT. They are very generous with the amount of meat, they have 3 noodle options, egg is included, and both broths were hearty and flavorful. For the service, price, ambiance, and quality, this place is truly a gem in Morris County! Highly recommend

And when I sat down inside this ultra-casual restaurant - I'm pretty sure that it's a converted residential house - I only saw my fellow diners ordering sushi. So don't come here for ramen; come for an incredibly tasty, inexpensive sushi experience. I had an amazing roll, and let me tell you, the presentation is stunning. It came out sizzling on cast iron, while my server spooned garlic sauce over the top to cook it and add dazzle. Filled with avocado and spicy tuna, the portion would be perfect for sharing with someone. I also had a dynamite roll, which more or less melted in my mouth. I was less wild about the Christian crosses at every table. I'm a secular person. All in all though, Asahi qualifies as a hidden, off-the-beaten-path gem of Parsippany.

My girlfriend and I stopped in on a Friday evening during a weekend trip to High Point State Park. They only had nine beers on tap but there was nice variety and excellent quality in the lineup. Several IPA's and hazy ales but also a grisette, a German pilsner, an English mild and a milk stout. They don't offer flights. Interestingly enough, as much as I enjoy flights at breweries, I've actually found that not offering them is usually a good sign as it is the mark of a brewery that is serious about beer and knows what they are doing. This was true for Autodidact as each beer was excellent. Five star beer but four star taproom. 6 o'clock on a Friday night but only about seven other people there so it was kind of dead.
