My next visit and I'm trying the kimchi ramen , it was pretty good flavor and spice . I just thought the noodles were too much and could have enjoyed more vegetables . I was expecting tofu but there was meat . I would have liked a complimentary vegetable like spinach not corn . I am convinced I need to micromanage the selection to my liking . Not rely on the chef, My last visit were appetizers and preferred it much better . Service woman was very young and very shy. Needs more grooming and upleveling on that level . Came here on a Friday night and we were really disappointed by how the parking lot had been cleaned up. The big snow storm happened weeks ago, and yet the parking lot had less spots because the snow was piled up on top of them, so we had to maneuver our way into a "made up" spot instead. Also, lately we have noticed that they have no chili oil on house for us to make our ramen spicier, which was a bit disappointing too. My father is in a wheelchair so they opened the door for us before and after as well as sat us in a very convenient table to accommodate his wheelchair. The edamame ($6) was nicely steamed with a little crunch and the chicken skewers came two to an order ($7). The chicken was a little dry, but you can choose/modify your spice level so maybe a different sauce other than mild would have been a little less dry. The ramen came in a smaller than expected for a dinner portion ($16). What was odd was that we ordered the teriyaki chicken but it came breaded and fried like chicken tenders - no teriyaki flavor and not grilled. We brought a Tokyo Miso, Tokyo Mega and Tokyo Seafood ramen soups, the 6 lamb skewers and an order of the BBQ pork feet home to share with our family. The soups were nicely packaged were the liquid was separate to not over-soften the noodles. The pig's feet had quite a bit a bones but that happens. The food was all delicious. If you are looking for heavy foods with lots of gravy/grease where you are going to need to loosen that belt and rub that food baby belly, then this is NOT the place for you. If you are looking for something tasty that that will satisfy your tastebuds, then you should try this place. P.S. We have different levels of heat-lovers in our family. If you know you can't take heat but willing to try, some foods made be just enough-slightly hot for you. If you love the heat, spicy may not be enough. I was here with a bunch of others as one of the many lunches near Amateur Team East; a chess tournament at the nearby Hilton which I intend to go to yearly. The service was fine. The menu is split up between two different sides. One side is all the different types of ramen and the other side includes some dishes over rice and some skewers (which I'm pretty positive are Chinese chuan/chuan'r.) unfortunately the tea is not free but I got one and it was fine. We all got different ramen though judging by the photos, I probably would have also liked the eel rice more. I went with the Tokyo Mega Ramen which had chashu pork, shrimp, bamboo shoots, corn, half marinated egg, wakame, scallions, and wood ear mushrooms. The noodles noodles were alright. I would have preferred them more bouncy but they were fine though I'm surprised they don't give different noodle options. The chashu/roast pork was surprisingly tasty as was most of the ingredients (though I would have preferred a runnier more flavorful egg but I'm used to very good ramen.) Outside of the chashu, the other highlight goes to the shrimp which were large and plump. I don't usually see such large shrimp in a ramen and this was an interesting tasty take. I ordered it spicy and it lacked said heat and I asked for chili and they gave me chili oil (which gives yet another reason why they have chuan) which was on the very dry end and not spiced (unsure if old or just their version.) I would comment on the broth outside of the lack of spiciness but I would say that was easily the weakest part of the ramen. I believe it was a shoyu broth but it lacked a lot of flavor. If the broth was better, I would recommend it more heavily because the toppings are good (outside of the egg) because the portion size was reasonable. Perfectly alright bowl but I wouldn't go out of my way again to go there next year. read more

I went there the third week they were open. Both of us had the Tokyo Mega Ramen with pork, shrimp, egg, fish cake, etc. It was very good. The portion size was just right. The shrimp and pork were extremely flavorful. The egg was cooked just right, with a slightly soft yolk. Even though I ordered mine spicy, it wasn't spicy enough. They have sriracha to make things hotter, but that's not what the chef adds. If you want it hotter ask for some of their hot oil from the kitchen. It's very flavorful and adds the heat you need. Only criticism was that the waiters didn't really know the menu well and had difficulty answering questions, especially about the types of broths used in their 11 ramen choices. Decorated with nods to modernist influences and old school decorations, it sacrifices none of the comfort associated with such. The service is prompt and polite, and the staff are knowledgeable, though perhaps a bit more energetic than absolutely necessary. The food is excellent, with large portions and tasty dishes. Their Ramen has enough meat, and the veggies are flavorful. I'd recommend getting one of the excellent meat skewers with the ramen, because more meat never goes amiss when we're talking ramen. As a note, when they say spicy, they mean it. Still very good, but a 2-chili lamb skewer woke me up. Affordable too. A ramen bowl is ~$17, but it'll fill you up good. If you're looking for quick, four meat skewers run as little as $12 (for chicken) and are plenty. Overall, a nice, small affordable restaurant that serves good food.
