The place is nice and average size for a Denville restaurant (around 8 tables plus the bar seating), our server was very nice. We got the miso soup and shrimp shumai to start - miso soup was good, and the shumai wasn't fantastic but it wasn't bad either. The Mountain Lakes roll was good, nothing incredible but the yellowtail was good and it was a light roll, fyi it has 6 pieces on it (it would be good if they'd add how many pieces come in each roll). The Johnny roll was better, it does come with tempura flakes on top so it is very filling, I would recommend trying this one. Overall a good experience.

Pretty unassuming atmosphere, plain and simple, and cannot accommodate a larger group. Perfect for a party of 2, or single seats at the sushi bar. They also do not take reservations, and they are BYOB with a liquor store down the street (but cannot be considered nextdoor, may want to oick it uo by car beforehand) Nigiri pieces do come with wasabi underneath the fish, and on top of the rice which is a fairly authentic practice, but caught me off guard. My boyfriend absolutely loved this, but I did need to get myself a simple roll instead. Prices are a little high but the portions are generous. Their mochi icecream was a great end to the evening as well!

We went to ski and looking a cozy and relax restaurant to take a break. We found this sushi restaurant on the way home. Food is great and the service is excellent. Will be back soon.

Forgot to document my wife and I's trip to Yama Sushi at the end of November so here it is! Sushi was super fresh and really enjoyed the unique rolls. Aesthetic was very comfortable and I enjoyed the jazz that was playing while we were there. Though the service was mostly good, I thought we waited too much for only two groups of people in, but definitely polite.

A small to medium sized venue in downtown Denville. Bright modern, yet traditional interior look. There is only metered street parking around, but it appears to be free after 6pm. I didn't pay that much attention to the schedule. Sushi bar seating & table seating, & its BYOB. Fast & friendly staff. I had the Spicy Kani Salad, Blue Fin Chu Toro Sushi, Salmon Sushi, Jackpot Johnnie Roll. Not a fan of for sushi you only get ONE piece for the price. I know, I know, they're not the only one to do this, but I'm always more of a fan of the places where you at least get two pieces. Their Kani salad was a nice change of pace, it was actually more like a salad, than just shredded Kani coated in spicy Mayo. Very good! The Salmon sushi was delicious, so fresh. The Blue Fin Chu Toro, also very good & fresh, but the salmon had it beat. The speciality roll, Jackpot Johnnie was also very very good. Overall, definitely will be a return trip the next time I'm in the area. Grades: Spicy Kani Salad: A Blue Fin Chu Toro Sushi: B Salmon Sushi: A+ Jackpot Johnnie Roll: A++

I love this Sushi place. There is just something unique with the taste when I go to my favorite place in my town. Staff is always wonderful. Seating on a Saturday at Noonish is never a challenge to be seated. Plenty of parking behind the restaurant.

It's a relatively small storefront that you could easily enough miss while passing through, and that would be unfortunate. I've been to many sushi places. Take nothing away from this one, but there are certainly those that offer better asthetics, whether in the fancier or earthier direction. The prices at this one are perhaps average. However, firstly from the moment you walk in to the moment you leave, the service is very welcoming and attentive. Meanwhile, the food more than holds its own. The tea is great, the sushi is fresh and very well made. Go here with confidence that you will be treated well and enjoy a delicious meal.

We love the sushi here, especially the mackarel and oyster sushi. The salmon is fresh. Overall, great place for Japanese food.

The staff is fast and attentive and the theme / atmosphere is clean and authentic. Last table we had was Osaka inspired. We used to go to our local sushi place which was good. But each specialty roll cost between $17.00 and $19.99. 4 rolls and an app costs more than Miga - where you get everything you would want and more. This used to be one of my favorite all you can eat sushi spots, and I honestly recommended it to a lot of people. I hadn't been back in about a year, but since it's always packed, I assumed the quality was still the same. Unfortunately, it wasn't. The biggest issue was the freshness. The sushi tasted like it had been prepared hours earlier instead of being made fresh to order. The fish lacked that fresh, clean flavor I remembered, and the texture just wasn't right. The sashimi slices were surprisingly tiny compared to what they used to serve, and both the eel and the albacore tuna tasted old, which was really disappointing. On top of that, the portions were noticeably smaller across several dishes. I don't mind smaller portions at an all you can eat restaurant if the quality is there, but this time neither the quality nor the freshness met the standard I remembered. I'm not sure if management or the kitchen has changed, but the experience was completely different from what it used to be. I truly hope this was just an off day because this restaurant was once one of my favorites. Sadly, based on this visit, I can't say I'd rush back.

For me, I thought the noodles and vegetables were well-prepared however, the filet mignon and shrimp were over-cooked, not seasoned well and not as tender as I expected they would be. Visually, the ambiance/decor was quite nice. Auditorily, it was noisy: I had trouble hearing (without shouting) most of the others in my party of 6. What I liked least was the wait to be seated (yes, we had reservations) and the wait for our food: our waiter apologized several times for forgetting to put in our order, which added about a half-hour to our wait. But overall, I enjoyed seeing the grandkids enjoying the experience.

Hibachi doesn't come with fried rice, but you can add it on for a couple of bucks and it's so worth it. My filet was also cooked to perfection. Knocking off two stars because service was painfully slow! We had a 5 PM reservation and they didn't even take our order until 6 PM. Normally with a drink in hand I wouldn't mind, but this was tough with a group of kids. Speaking of kids - ours were being wild, and all of the staff was really nice about it. It seems like they are pretty used to kids running around, and luckily they have a huge indoor dining space with a fountain to keep the kids occupied. Let's just hope that no kids actually end up in said fountain, lol. Overall this is a great spot for hibachi, and despite a long wait time I'd come back again any time that hibachi craving hits.

My vegetarian friend was in the area and says she loves visiting this place whenever she's here…read more I'm a carnivore, but friends are more important than food, so - my first veggie experience! With that in mind I want to be careful how I review the food. The place is nice and quiet, including the servers. The menu is rather expansive like a diner, and it can be a bit confusing because it sometimes says "veggie beef" (or chicken, pork) and sometimes just says "beef" and you have to interpret the missing word "veggie". Since I didn't want any of that, I was able to pick out what I wanted quickly, but my friend took awhile. I liked the spring rolls. Liked, not loved - I've had better; the interior was bland here. And the sauce wasn't announced, but a nice bonus for dipping. The vegetable fried rice, I don't know. The sauce was a bit gluey, instead of making the rice a bit crunchy like fried rice ought to be. The veggies were not done enough so they weren't crunchy but also weren't soft. The broccoli should have been chopped into smaller pieces, but also, it should have been mushrooms like the menu said. I was not pleased with the unannounced substitution - a five star restaurant would be open about that. (I was also expecting baby corn, but the menu did say "corn" when I checked back, so that's on me.) I'd love to round up to 4 instead of down to 3, but in the end, if my friend invites me back next time she's in the area, I'd pass and suggest a different spot. I know it's not easy to craft a vegetarian restaurant and I respect what they've been able to do here, but I think they can do better without introducing meat products. Especially on matching the menu with what you're given.

So when I saw $2 off sushi buffet at this local eatery, I harangued my friend into visiting. And forgot my coupon. (Actually, I discovered it's been in my wallet this whole time. Return trip!) The most notable points: Ambiance is simple, not a lot of room inside. Service is punctual but not the most easily understandable in English. All you can eat is not buffet. It's "order and be served", which I have also seen at Miga Sushi. So we did that. They will bring you a fresh piece of paper every time. I stuck to the sushi side of the menu for the most part. The one thing I sprung for on the other side was the spicy seaweed salad, to get my veggies in. And it was really good. Not your usual green rubbery goop. Stringy, spicy dressing, great flavor. 5 stars will get next time. Appetizer, I also did "not raw" and went for the fried scallops. Well, they were still kinda raw inside, which I really enjoyed. Gobbled those up. The rest of my time here was spent mashing through roll after delicious roll of sushi. I definitely had fun with that. Ended the afternoon with a scoop of green tea ice cream, which if you read the fine print is also included in AYCE. Strong 4 stars to start, I'll throw the 5th their way because AYCE. Now I have to go spend this coupon...
