California Roll
Kathy M.

Solid 4 for service, food quality, and ambience. We had the spicy tuna roll, California roll, chirashi bowl and the chicken katsu curry. Rolls were 6 pieces per order and rice to fish ratio was good. The chirashi bowl at about $19 dollars was small compared to any chirashi bowl I've had. 8 pieces of high quality fish ( snapper, toro, salmon, white tuna ), eggs and rice. For that price point the bowl is usually filled with more fish, with bigger pieces. Takoyaki was okay. Chicken katsu curry was great- good portions served with rice and potatoes as well, chicken was crisp and smothered with curry. Our server was friendly, service was good, casual and clean place. Would recommend:)

BEEF BULGOGI BOX

Walked in for lunch and was surprised how many tables were open. They did some takeout business while we were there. Server was prompt and efficient. I ordered a bento box and was pleasantly surprised by the quantity of food. I actually ended up taking most of the beef and rice home in a to go box. The restaurant has windows along the front and part of the side so it felt well lit and had some cute decorations. My nephew had his first bento box and enjoyed it so much he talked his parents into taking back again a week later!

Went for a last minute late lunch and loved the half ramen and one roll deal. I don't eat red meat so I love when a ramen places offers chicken substitutions for all their ramen variations. Also for an eel avocado roll and it was good. Lovedddd that they gave mochi on the way out. It was exactly what I wanted without even knowing it. Docked half a star cause the waitress was cold and a little rude.

Salmon avocado and Godzilla roll

The salmon bowl came with a good portion of salmon, but the salmon itself lacked the fattiness that gives the salmon it's rich flavor. Also, the rice was under seasoned for my liking. The katsu was crispy and good. The rest of the rolls we got were fine but nothing memorable.

I also got the chirashi bowl and it was so fresh and good. Wow! This place is consistent and good every time.

Stopped in for a midweek lunch. Small dining area noisy (lively with office people out for lunch talking animatedly, terrible acoustics). Ordered ramen lunch: small ramen bowl (with instant noodles? They brag about authentic ramen and serve package noodles?) tasty but with few items; delicious spicy tuna roll included in order. Fairly good service. Small parking area in back. That tuna added half a star to my rating.

Orange CHICKEN BOX

Nice cozy little place for lunch. Me and my team have come here numerous times for their lunch specials-we especially like their bento boxes since there's plenty of food and all very reasonably priced. On this last occasion, we had chicken teriyaki, orange chicken and beef bulgogi bento boxes. Great fast service, good food, prime location (there's a free parking lot in the back)-what else would one need? ;) we'll definitely be back.

F to B: Tropicana Roll (~$15) & French Kiss Roll (~$16)
Aya E.

Ordered: 6pc Chicken Wings (~$9): soy garlic Avocado Bomb (~$12): with spicy tuna Seaweed Salad (~$6) French Kiss Roll (~$16): spicy tuna mixed crunch, cucumber rolled grilled shrimp, crunch and scallion on top with eel sauce, spicy mayo, and sweet sauce Tropicana Roll (~$15): fresh tuna, fresh salmon and mango rolled, top sliced avocado with house wasabi sauce Chicken Katsu (~$16): deep fried chicken with house made panko bread crumbs served with white rice and miso soup Green Tea Mochi (complimentary) Aya's take: Great dinner spot! Everything we had was delicious starting with the Chicken Wings. The soy garlic coating was light and could've used a bit more sauce but they were crispy and had great flavor. I actually really liked the Avocado Bomb; super creamy and soft from the avocado and spicy tuna. Considering it's just one piece (but can be sharable), I wouldn't get it again. Both Rolls we had were solid, although there was a bit of a wait since they forgot our orders. The Chicken Katsu was unbelievably crispy and thin; it was a bit dry but the katsu sauce on the side definitely helped with that. They offered us a free piece of Mochi after our meals which was a sweet way to end the meal. Decent try, overall!

I see why this place a 5-star google rated. They are courteous when you come in. Clean, spacious and ample table spacing. Restroom is clean and smells good. Service is great! Food is tasteful and very comforting!! Japanese food lovers must try this place. Parking space is ample at the back of the store. They accept cash and credit/debit cards. See images and video for further reference.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Hands down best sushi and Japanese food in the area and the service is terrific. Great ambiance too for a date night. I highly recommend this place!

Beef Bulgogi Bento Box. $17.95. Tasty beef and spring rolls
Glenn C.

I was at this Japanese restaurant pretty recently with a group and I would say that it's in general a lot better than the other comparable Japanese place in the area, Tokyo Ramen. The staff here was nicer and the food here was definitely much better. I was thinking about the katsu curry but eventually I went with the Beef Bulgogi Bento Box for $17.95 listed as Japanese style thinly sliced ribeye and onion with house made brown sauce served with a side of steamed rice, house salad, spring roll, edamame, California roll, and miso soup. The miso soup at the beginning was standard and fine. This was a tasty above average bento box even with the main dish being more on the Korean end (especially as they also have kalbi as an option so I presume one of the owners is Korean or something.) There was a good amount of beef which was pretty tender and the sauce had a bit of sweetness but not as much as many of the Korean places I've been to. This was on top of the steamed rice of course which absorbed all the juices. The California roll was fine and the rice wasn't clumpy. The house salad did not have the usual gingery dressing but instead had a lightly sweet white dressing which was a different but nice touch. The spring rolls were presumably store bought but they were fine and there was a sweet sauce to dip them into and there was a good amount of edamame. This was a good deal for the price. Another person had a bowl of Vegetarian Miso Ramen for I believe $14.95, someone had the chicken teriyaki bento, and the last person had the Japanese fried rice or rather chahan which came topped with an egg which they seemed to like.

If they sold that id buy it for home. Service was fast, order taken the moment we decided and our app came out about 3 minutes later. The ramen took another 5 minutes and then came out steaming. We were able to walk up to the front and get our check immediately as well. Overall friendly and speedy. The inside is cute with a minimalist japanese aesthetic. The kitchen is pretty on view so you can see you're sushi or ramen being prepped. Overall great find and if i'm in the area again i'll be back!

I also loved the ambiance of the place. There's something about it that feels very communal, and it was cool being able to watch the sushi chefs and the rest of the team at work. This will definitely become one of my staples in Morristown!

The bad news is they lost points due to making us wait almost an hour for a small order -the staff is very nice but they appeared to be filling a ton of Grubhub orders before us and the place was half empty. It would've been nice if they gave us a free soup or something to apologize for the long wait but c'est lavie. Other issue - the main one- is their prices are astronomical for a hole in the wall joint in Morristown. As high as any of the Manhattan glam spots, i.e. Soho, Madison Ave, Columbus Circle, etc. Where else do you pay $13 for a salmon roll? 90% of places charge around $7-8 per, so you're looking at a very steep bill. Again, the fish is great but be prepared to spend hi end prices for a hole in the wall joint.
