Fast service, we were seated right away on a weekday for lunch. There were plenty of open tables, although there more customers that came in around 1pm. Started off with the kani salad and miso soup. I visited this restaurant this weekend. I had the chicken katsu. It was very good, not dry. But, the salad was AMAZING! I know its just a side salad, but the dressing was so good. The chirashi bowl at about $19 dollars was small compared to any chirashi bowl I've had. 8 pieces of high quality fish ( snapper, toro, salmon, white tuna ), eggs and rice. For that price point the bowl is usually filled with more fish, with bigger pieces. Takoyaki was okay. There are many sushi options in the Morristown / Morris Plains area, but we just found our new favorite! We had a great experience all around. The sushi was very fresh, with lots of great options. And the kids LOVED their bento boxes. One piece of advice - order a pot of the Magic Potion tea. Turmeric, ginger, lemongrass, lemon, orange, and some honey for sweetness. We were all fighting over the last cup, until the waitress settled the argument by bringing a fresh pot! And that brings us to the service - which was very friendly and helpful. Finally dined in at Kiori, and the food was (as expected) even better tried hot and fresh. The steamed veggie dumplings were perfection and even came in a cute steamer basket. The boneless fried chicken with soy garlic sauce was everything. Perfectly crispy and crunchy with the sweetest and most flavorful sauce. The lunch special is $11.95 and comes with a large basket of chicken, plus curly fries and coleslaw. I'm not a huge sushi fan, and love that they have so many other options like small plates, ramen and udon, katsu and fried chicken. Service was wonderful. There was one staff member for several filled tables, and he constantly came over to check in. Every meal at Kiori ends with a complimentary mochi ice cream - such a cute touch. Absolutely worth a visit for in-person and not just takeout, especially for their fabulous lunch specials! read more

I was at this Japanese restaurant pretty recently with a group and I would say that it's in general a lot better than the other comparable Japanese place in the area, Tokyo Ramen. The staff here was nicer and the food here was definitely much better. I was thinking about the katsu curry but eventually I went with the Beef Bulgogi Bento Box for $17.95 listed as Japanese style thinly sliced ribeye and onion with house made brown sauce served with a side of steamed rice, house salad, spring roll, edamame, California roll, and miso soup. The miso soup at the beginning was standard and fine. This was a tasty above average bento box even with the main dish being more on the Korean end (especially as they also have kalbi as an option so I presume one of the owners is Korean or something.) There was a good amount of beef which was pretty tender and the sauce had a bit of sweetness but not as much as many of the Korean places I've been to. This was on top of the steamed rice of course which absorbed all the juices. The California roll was fine and the rice wasn't clumpy. The house salad did not have the usual gingery dressing but instead had a lightly sweet white dressing which was a different but nice touch. The spring rolls were presumably store bought but they were fine and there was a sweet sauce to dip them into and there was a good amount of edamame. This was a good deal for the price. Another person had a bowl of Vegetarian Miso Ramen for I believe $14.95, someone had the chicken teriyaki bento, and the last person had the Japanese fried rice or rather chahan which came topped with an egg which they seemed to like. read more

We've always had a great experience with takeout from Kiori but tonight we finally got to dine-in and we are SO thrilled we did. We enjoyed the Miso Ramen, Dark Knight roll and Sweet Potato Roll, but the star of the show was the Soy Garlic Chicken. 10/10 every bite. Great, polite service that kept our waters and tea full and cozy inside was just the cherry on top. It's a small dining room with maybe 10 tables so get there early on a Friday/Saturday night, which is when our waitress says they are the busiest. My only regret was not taking any photos! This was our second visit here, and you can def tell that the word is out about this place, it's a lot busier, but happy to say that the service is still very personal, and the staff really take pride in their craft, and rightfully so! Today we got to try the sushi and the chicken wings. The sushi was good suburban sushi, but the star was def the wings, they are not traditional Korean wings as they use a tempura like batter that makes for a much crunchier and "lighter" wing compared to the potato starch variety, these may get be the best wings I've had in a long while! Every time I come here the food is consistently very well done. The bulgogi and kalbi are very flavorful and marinated well. Both are also tender and not overcooked. I'm sorry to say, the tuna roll didn't seem fresh. The pieces weren't attached to the rice. Soda was served in the can with a straw. The Cheese katsu they serve here is crisp savory flavorful and definitely cheesy. They make their panko in house and the meal is scrumptious. Paired it with the white peach yuzu drink and it is a must try. They also have a good selection of sushi, ramen, bento boxes and many more. We ended the meal with their soft mochi ice cream which was satisfying. The staff were amazing as the owner and the host took care of us well and attended to our needs. One of the better Japanese restaurants in the area in my opinion! I've been here twice now and both times the employees are extremely hospitable and attentive. Their lunch special is a good deal - even the half size ramen is pretty filling and at under $16 I would definitely say it's worth it. Also good for if you can't decide between sushi or noodles! Ramen has tasty broth and big pieces of pork, even for a half size. Their pork katsu came with a generous portion of meat (wish there was more sauce though, it was tasty!) and their breading was unique. MAYBE a little on the drier side, but I still thought it was flavorful and satisfying. They also give complementary mochi ice cream after your meal! Inside is spacious and both times I went, I didn't have to wait for a table for two. There are a couple of tables and they are all kept clean. Love the bench seating around the walls. Huge windows so can enjoy the sun or have a view. Was able to get a carafe of water without even asking, that is my love language. Started with a miso soup, great balanced soup with enough green onions, seaweed and tofu. Tuna Tataki for an appetizer was a great pick since it was light fresh tuna that had a spice kick. Enough tuna for 2, I was by myself so packed half of it to take home. For entree I got the Lion King special roll which had spicy salmon inside topped with salmon. The spicy salmon had a medium spice level to it, paired with soy sauce and ginger it was bearable for me. Loved the combination of fresh salmon with spicy salmon, a must try. Ended with a mochi that was a great palette cleanser and satisfied my sweet craving.
