BYOB! no corkage fee...and a supermarket and wine store are with a 5 min. walking radius. Service was a little slow but very friendly and helpful with the menu selection. I'd recommend anything written on the big chalk board. Whole branzino fried perfectly crispy on the outside and flakey white delicate inside was perfectly paired with a spicy sweet chili sauce. I ate 3/4 by myself before sharing some with my tablemates. Curry noodles with shrimp, chicken and asian sausage was lightly flavored- the curry taste did not overpower any other ingredient. This is my second time here and they just so happen to have a restaurant week special. I got veggie spring rolls, pad see Ew with chicken, and mango ice cream for $14.95. The food was really good. The Thai tea is the best. The only issue is the servers rarely come to the table. read more

Went here for lunch with some co-workers, as it's close to my office. I had the Pad Thai with chicken. It was very good and flavorful. As others have said, the service can be a little slow, but we didn't mind. With a lunch entree and sharing of an appetizer, the bill came to 10-11 dollars a person. Not bad, and we were all full! Several people could not even finish their lunch, and had to take theirs home with them. read more

Liz J described it fairly well. The people there are quite courteous, but quite unfortunately, the food was barely mediocre. Stay far away from any of their more expensive dishes. They seem to stock very low quality salmon, and even lower quality tuna. These are not sushi grade items by any stretch. Stick with the basic chicken or shrimp dishes, and you'll find the quality as good as your average Chinese take out, possibly worse. I gave them three chances, and only once was it acceptable. The other two experiences would very disappointing. I wish I could say I only patrnized the place once, but on three different occasions, they failed to deliver. I'm not sure who is actually rating this place 4-5 stars, let alone 3. Perhaps Houlihan's is fine dining to some of those folks. read more

We're lucky to live close by, so this is our "go to" restaurant when we're too tired to cook. The Thai dumpling appetizers are a favorite of ours, my wife likes the Pad Thai Chicken, and there's always something interesting on the Specials board. The last special I had was Thai Paella, which is seafood paella with Thai spices. I love Spanish Valencian paella, and this was even better (except I wished I had some Red Sangria to go with it.) The staff is always friendly and the service is very good ( never a long wait between courses .) If alcohol were available I'd give this place a 5 star, being BYOB makes it a little less convenient as some planning is necessary ( and it's kind of hard to bring Sangria with you.) For the price you can't beat it! Update: The more we eat here the more we love it. Upgrading to 5 stars. FYI the Foodtown down the street has a very good selection of wine and beer, so a brisk walk (remember to cross at the crosswalks) will get you your drink of choice. read more

I love the food at Bangkok Kitchen. I am old and set in my ways, so I order the same three things all the time, but I know what I'm getting and they are reliably delicious. The wait staff is always lovely and attentive. Every time I go there, they are busy, but I've rarely had to wait for a table, which is a big plus. I do have a little issue with the current decor. My husband and I went for lunch a few months ago, and the charming photographs and the blackboard that used to be along the west-facing wall were replaced by a big obnoxious board advertising the specials. I think it may have actually been a white board with pictures. They also put this sort of thing in the menu. It was jarring. The place is otherwise decorated in such a calm, serene manner, and it was just really out of place aesthetically, like turning on an HDTV in a yoga class. read more

So, hey, new to town and checking out the action on Bloomfield avenue so a friend and I ducked into this joint. The atmosphere was nice. Classy'ish, you can have a conversation and it didn't smell like Cloverleaf a few doors down. Chicken satay was less than average and the satay sauce could be renamed weaksauce as it was creamy and just did not deliver. The kao pad was good, but the pad Thai wasn't. Service was good and I'd give it another shot. Cook could have just had a bad night. read more

We have been going to this restaurant for years. The staff is so friendly. The decor is pretty...different from anything else in the area. Their steamed dumplings are out of this world. I've only eaten here once but the food made an immediate impression. Tip: skip the apps, spring rolls were soggy and tasteless, dumplings aka shumai are terrible- salty and some weird mixture on top. Both dishes were cold although i picked it up as they brought it out. Entree of musaman curry was tasty but not very good. Yumm! I live in town and love to go there. All the BBQ items on the menu are great. I love the Thai BBQ chicken. An entire half of chicken grill to perfection. I wish they would leave the chicken head on, lol!! :P After stuff yourself with this no head chicken, please.....please do yourself a favor, try the ginger napoleon. Great place. Food is delicious and won't break your wallet. The place isn't that big, but you can tell alot of effort went into the motiff and design of the restaurant. Spotless clean and tastefully furnished! We watched a waitress patiently explain specials to an elderly couple who had trouble reading the board across the room and understanding what some things were. Great people, really nice wait staff. Unfortunately, that is where the accolades end. The tables were old, menus stained with sticky food, and the whole place had an old mop smell. Everyone liked their lunch entrees though ($8) and drinks. The Thai ice tea was a little different than we were used to. The Ra Ma Shrimp flavor was very good. Didn't like the hard eggplant and stringy ginger pieces in it though. My friend was pleased with the Pineapple Fried Rice wt Chicken. The Iced Green Tea was the best. Vegetable dumplings ($6) were like rubber which made then inedible. I love this place as it's local and the quality is always a given. The service is a bit choppy as the waitress always seems as though she is in a rush and she doesn't give you a second to finish your sentence before she's rushing off. That was a little frustrating, but the most important detail, the food, is on point. I have had dinner and lunch here and can say that all the offerings are wonderful. I recently ordered the shrimp basil box and was very impressed with amount of food and the selection you get for the price. Everything was fresh and delicious! The dumplings are also very good as they are steamed and not too filling as a prelude to your entree. The specials are also very versatile, so there's always an interesting selection to choose from. I'm not a huge fan of really spicy foods as I don't particularly like my nose to be running profusely while I'm trying to eat. They are really good at adjusting the spice to your particular needs which I appreciate. It's BYOB, so don't forget to bring your booze. I gave four stars because they don't have coconut rice which I love oh so much. If they added this to the menu, they would totally be five stars. Their thai Iced tea is very yummy and they have very good food. They also have great decor and service. Well, I am not a fan of bringing your own alcohol, but this place is an exception! Omg! My hubby brought some specialty beers (choc beer,banana beer and one from a monastery)Which was walking distance. Great start, lol. This place is so different and loved the atmosphere. The waitress takes your drinks and pours them for you first. Then, the menu is out of this world with so many diff things. The Chicken appetizer just melted in your mouth. I ordered the Sea Bass, my husband got a curry dish, omg, YUMMO. It's not chinese food but it is? Maybe Thai? Very Very fresh. I have tried Thai food in many places in new jersey and NYC. This is not even a decent place. The service was lax, we waited for 10 minutes before we got the menu and then needed to flag down a person to take the order. There were couple of different vegetarian dishes, as we are vegeterians. We started off with the veggie dumplings, they were cold and the shell was somewhat hard and rubbery. Then moved onto, veggie basil broad noodle and veggie stir fry, both were OK, better prepared then the dumplings. Me and my wife live in Caldwell so we decided to give this place a try. It isn't authentic Thai not even close I didn't see no one working there that was Thai. The food is over priced and not very good. I would have given this place five stars a few years ago but the food is insanely inconsistent. The shrimp is not always fresh. The Pad Thai is a disappointment too often. I continue to go back in hopes that it will be like it use to be but there is a problem every time now. My shrimp tonight wasn't good, the flavor in the dish was off, they run out of string beans all the time, the take out takes way too long and frankly it's not worth it nor enjoyable. I've been coming here for years- best Thai place ever! It's on Bloomfield ave next to cloverleaf- there's parking in back or on street. Careful- they will give tickets. Place is very small and does not take reservations. The service takes forever so just plan on that...but it's worth it. It's small owned mom n pop place so support them and respect that they can't afford many waitresses. Wings are delicious. I always get masammum beef and they have chicken available too. It's byob so stop at liquor store down the street. Love this place- support it. read more

I ended up here on a last minute hunt for good thai. Didn't know there was such a great restaurant in my own backyard! Bangkok Kitchen was delicious, fast, fresh, and priced reasonably. The meal I had here was the first time ever that I had Pad Thai sitting in a pool of broth. The Beef Salad was seasoned correctly, but it came with 6 small morsels. The food here is always great, the atmosphere seems as authentic as you will get, and the host and staff are always great. Highly recommend trying it. Especially the Thai Dumplings. Bring your own wine, however, as they do not have a liquor license. read more

Since this restaurant has opened I have eaten there at least 3 times a month - and I have NEVER disliked a meal! Their Pad Thai is perfect - they simply have the BEST Massamum chicken and Sprint rolls! Many of us from work love to go for lunch - so much so they know our name and flavor!
