Above average for Chinese take out. Very friendly and accommodating staff which I think is actually a family. I ordered steamed chicken with broccoli. The chicken was tender and fresh. The broccoli was steamed to perfection. They give you a choice of brown or white rice as well as the type of sauce. I had brown rice and garlic sauce on the side. Excellent. I also ordered a mixed vegetable soup. Great broth with lots of flavor and not too salty. Got some quick take out, kept it simple. Staff was nice and friendly. Working dinner. Got the wings and fries, chicken with the orange peel flavor and fried rice. The food is above average and reasonably priced for this type of Chinese restaurant in suburbia. The menu is typical Chinese American fare with some interesting authentic Chinese dishes included. I was visiting my brother in Caldwell and this is his go to Chinese restaurant for delivery in the area. The spring rolls (only contains vegetables) were delicious and not oily. Some is the best I have ever had at any price level. The Chicken with Curry sauce and brown rice was excellent. Perfectly spiced and seasoned. Chicken was not dry. So thankful to have found this place for lunch during the week when I don't want to cook. Ordered yesterday for the first time and was not disappointed. Since my job is over 2 miles their online ordering service did not let me order, but when I called she said she would deliver to me. Stopped here for lunch one day because I was in the area. It's a typical Chinese joint with usual fare, lunch specials, soup, etc., but with only one table and one booth. I ordered the lunch special of shrimp with broccoli spicy, brown rice, and hot and sour soup. I didn't expect much but was pleasantly surprised. The shrimp were huge and they gave a good number of them, the sauce was tasty, and the brown rice decent. My complaints were: the hot and sour soup didn't have much taste to it and there wasn't much sauce to mix with the brown rice. These are small things that probably vary with each transaction, so no big deal. I paid under $6 for all that food and that was a steal. Lunch special includes: choice of pork fried, white, or brown rice; choice of soda or egg drop, hot and sour, or wonton soup. A group of people came in while I was eating and they all ordered the Szechuan Chicken spicy, so that might be the thing to try next time. A couple days later, I was at an event that ordered one party tray of the chicken with broccoli from this place and it was also quite good. I like how the broccoli stays crispy when they cook it. A solid four stars, and I would definitely return there (particularly for lunch)! read more

What can I say about Spring Garden... It's a small establishment run by good, hard working people, where one can get a meal and a Coke for about 8 bucks. Hard to beat that. This place used to be my favorite, not sure what happened. The dumplings come in a very thin wrapper, so you can see through it. Not my favorite. The sauce for the dumplings is great though. The general tsao's was very sweet and had no crunch. The ribs were dry, but none were burned, so that was good. The egg roll had a lot of cabbage filler, not much pork- but my guess is these are purchased pre-made and just fried. Overall, a big let-down. read more

I read a previous review just now while i was preparing to write this, and was happy to see that my comment are clearly similar. I stopped here at 9pm on my way home, and was looking on both sides of the street to find a take-out chinese food place to take food home. The people were sincerely patient and personable with my making special requests, due to dietary restrictions I have. Not only were they tremendously accommodating, but they were extremely kind and helpful. I didn't plan on writing a review, but when I got home and tasted the food - 'WOW" I have eaten more Chinese food in the last 15 or so years than I could imagine, and just like the other review, I didn't expect much also, but the Sesame Chicken was fantastic. Very tasty and and well beyond my expectations. I would compare this food to places in New York in China Town, and tell you I was really taken a-back, a-front, and a-side at how good it was. The egg roll (you would think - an egg roll is an egg roll) but it was crispy, fresh and not oily at all. The food EASILY compares to Chinese Food I have had at double and triple the price. The other dishes I brought for others here at home were equally noted to be really great. No question about it, I would go back, and even go out of my way to stop here again. FOR SURE! read more

Tried again a few nights later- this time the food arrived 1hr25mins (yes, you're reading that right- an hour and a half) later!!!! A great neighborhood Chinese restaurant. This is new management that's taken over our beloved take-out Chinese place and they're wonderful. They use the same menu, so there's a lot of variety with a lot of more healthy options that aren't offered in most Chinese restaurants. Great customer service, too!
