Place is dirty! Service is rude abrupt unfriendly and dismissive. I ordered food and asked if the soda came with. This is my first time ordering food from this restaurant and I must admit that I am really unimpressed. I placed an order for shrimp fried rice and when I ate the meal, I quickly noticed how bland tasting the food was and there was way too many bean sprouts which I didn't like. Highest quality takeout Chinese food you'll find in the area. Awesome delivery and service. My general taos chicken actually tasted like chicken. My chow fun noodles had the perfect texture. And my egg role was crispy. I've ordered here about a dozen times now and it never disappoints. Surprisingly "fresh". They clearly don't overuse their oil and actually change it when it's been overused. Coming from someone who grew up eating home cooked Chinese food, you can never compare this to real Chinese food. We ordered fried chicken wings with fries, and I really regret doing that. Wings were not seasoned, they were dry and the chicken was fried with feathers and all. No flavor and why is the skin underneath bright yellow?? The fries were hard and again NO flavor. This was an abysmal dinner for first responders. A decent place for a quick grub! While on a 3 hour drive from NYC to PA, I was craving for some greasy chinese food and found this lil place on google maps. The couple running the restaurant was incredibly friendly. I placed my order and sat down at one of the tables, which was really dirty and sticky. the WORST hot and sour soup in the area. I ate a couple of spoonful's and had to dump the rest. looked ok, but the smell of the soup was pretty awful. I guess the giveaway was when I saw the counter person pour the soup into the takeout container, then into the wok to reheat. should have left at that point. This place was far and away, the most miserable forgery of Chinese food, I've ever eaten. Not trying to compare this to Chinatown, but wow, no flavour in any of the dishes we ordered. Sparse snow peas and maybe a piece of bamboo shoot (not even winter shoots), were their idea of the Chinese vegetables, along with carrots and celery with Shrimp. The sauce was indiscernible but fortunately the shrimp were cooked properly. Shredded beef was large pieces of green pepper with small fragments of beef, incompletely separated from each other. The laziness of execution was so striking, it makes me wonder just how they manage to stay in business. I really thought, hey, it has good reviews, why King Palace again. MASSIVE MISTAKE! Had cheese dumplings-- fried nicely, but not a huge fan of the dish-- plenty of sweet and sour sauce, but I would have preferred a garlic sauce. Maybe next time. Denville is a small town. We have exactly 3 Chinese food places in the Center of Town, 2 sandwich shops, a handful of pizzerias, a couple of Japanese/sushi joints...you get the picture. ANYway, of the Chinese food restaurants, one is the fancy, ostentatious, overpriced one, one is the all-vegetarian/vegan eco-everything one, and, the typical hole in the wall with a few tables that's mostly a take-out spot. So imagine my surprise to have learned after a quick menu scan of Oriental Express (hole in the wall) that there is an entire mock meat section. SCORE. My bestie and I have been frequenting Veggie Heaven for years, and have unfortunately have experienced a steady drop in quality and taste, though not enough to deter us altogether, as our vegetarian options in suburban North Jersey are limited. One afternoon, our original plan of lunch at Veg. Heaven was scrapped after we walked in and were frustrated by an inattentive hostess who maybe didn't see us or wanted to get us REALLY hungry by making us wait and watch other patrons chomp their lunch specials. Then I remembered that "mock meat" section on the other menu - and I took her hand, pulling her arm out of the socket, and made a beeline down Broadway (I was very very hungry). I ordered veg. beef and broccoli, curry sauce on side. My standard. She had chicken and eggplant in garlic sauce. We sat at one of the 2 outside tables to wait for our meals, and in a jiffy - and very unexpectedly - they came out on huge plates served up by a smiling worker who wasn't a waiter, because they don't have table service, but he was more than happy to run around for us, regardless. My dish was PERFECT. I am not only uber critical of the texture of seitan and other mock meats, but also of curry sauce. And I was wowed on both counts. The seitan came in big, satisfyingly chewy chunks, and the curry was above average to stellar. My bestie's meal was a winner, too, although maybe a little too sweet in the sauce department...I couldn't quite detect what the sweetness was, but it didn't need anything other than the other elements it contained, which were great. Her soy chicken was slammin'. Our spots were hit - I cleaned my plate and then tried to clear hers, but the portions were so big even I failed. My husband and I just ordered take out. The mei fun noodles had no flavor other then oil (they even look plain). Ma Po Tofu the portion is huge however the taste was not good. The tofu did not taste fresh at all, and the sauce had an unusual greasiness to it as well. we also ordered chicken with garlic sauce (with no vegetables) and ended up with an order of mostly vegetables. Tonight we ordered sesame chicken, chicken with broccoli, wonton soup, and egg rolls. We had a few bites of each and then threw it all in the garbage. The chicken was chewy and mushy in both dishes, the sesame sauce tasted like paint, and the wontons were thick, doughy, and over-over-cooked. This is strictly a take out but the food is very good. Better and much cheaper than Hunan Taste. They have the standard Chinese take out fare but it is the best around. I had the Szechuan chicken with an egg roll today. Both were very good and under $6 for both. The portions are too much if anything and can be served with fried rice or brown rice in addition to the standard white rice. The service is quick and easy. Great place for lunch or to order out for dinner. I've had many of their lunch specials and have not gone wrong yet. read more

Terrible Chinese Food!! We ordered chicken with black bean sauce, pork lo mein and beef with broccoli. We threw most of it away. I took two bites of the pork lo mein and threw it into the trash. It had no taste, and the chicken with black bean sauce tasted terrible as well. I would never give this place a second chance. Hunan taste is expensive, but at least it's food is good. We've been ordering here for years and this past weekend will be the very last time! We ordered Sesame chicken along with other things. When our food came, our sesame chicken was saturated with oil and tasted like fish! It was absolutely gross!! When we called to tell them, they were rude and very unwilling to make things right. I have read some of the negative reviews and I simply cannot understand the meals that they described as having come from this restaurant. Pretty decent chinese delivery. The veg is fresh, beef a bit stringy, I prefer the chicken. Lo mein is a bit too oily for me, but their chicken in garlic sauce is awesome, with a nice smokey flavor to it, not gloppy or too sweet. The general tso's chicken is awesome, like I used to have when I was a kid. Love the fried pork dumplings and the crab rangoons as well. The hot and sour soup is extremely mushroomy, which I don't care for. This place is the closest to 1980's chinese, when it was mostly Cantonese style. If you prefer schezuan, you might prefer Chengdu1 in Parsippany. read more
