We've been dining with Sonny's for many many years. Aside from his delicious menu, his winning trademark is his friendliness and treating every customer like he's hosting in his own home. The dining area is cozy and super inviting. Sonny ensures everyone is tended to efficiently and is truly happy. Love his dishes and the passion he brings to this establishment. Best service all around.

I have been missing out on this local Indian place. What a gem! Arrived on a Sunday night after a movie. No reservation, no problem. Figured it would be super quiet during the Xmas holiday week but there was a nice crowd, very local and clearly several regular patrons. I suspect that on a Friday or Saturday, a Resy is a must as the space is small and it's obvious how busy the place can get. The staff made us newbies feel like we had been going there for a while. Sonny, the owner, was so warm. The menu is expansive and really nicely geared for people like me who can't have gluten. Sonny took our order and helped space out the dishes to give us ample time to enjoy our meal. To start, we had the baygan Bhurtha (baked eggplant) and the Bindi masala with some rice and garlic and chili naan (for hubby) which were all delish. The bindi was really nice texturally. And both dishes were super flavorful without being drenched in butter or ghee. Did I mention how much I loved the okra? We then shared the spicy shrimp vindaloo and the sweet potato with chickpea curry. And yes, the shrimp vindaloo has a lot of heat! I am sure they would moderate it if asked. But it was really tasty. They kindly wrapped our leftovers and we had ample as the portions are really big. No room for dessert but would definitely get the date and fig kulfi ice cream next time. We love Indian food and just adored this tiny spot on the Main Street in Chatham. Look forward to returning soon. I also imagine that it would be a great takeout option. We intend to do that soon.

We gave Sonnys a try for the first time last night, ordering takeout. We have not had Indian food yet in the area and Sonnys had great reviews and we saw it mentioned in a few local groups. We ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala, garlic naan, chicken tandoori, and vegetable korma. While the food was tasty and we enjoyed the flavors, the portions were on the smaller side for the price. Ordering online, the chicken tikka masala is $21 which seems quite expensive for what seemed to be a large chicken breast in sauce. The reason for the 2 stars however is because the chicken tandoori was raw. Raw chicken is a no-go and can't happen. Unsure if we will come back. Mistakes do happen, so perhaps we will give another try sometime in the future, but we may try other options in the area.

One of my favorite Indian food eateries in the north NJ area!! Can't go wrong with any of the menu choices but I especially loved the assorted samosa platter for the appetizer and rasmalai for the dessert. If you come on a weekend evening without a reservation, be prepared to wait as it gets pretty busy! The ambience is vibrant, especially when there's a full house. The service here is unmatched as the owner personally checks on every table and is super attentive.

Sonny is such a wonderful and charismatic owner who truly cares about all who come and dine. The food is divine and tastes so fresh too. I love that it's not super oily and portions are enough to finish it then and there. I highly recommend the butter paneer masala and the roasted chili garlic naan. Sonny always checked in to make sure we are satisfied and is so tentative and kind. One of my favorite Indian restaurants ever- coming from someone who's Indian and eats it a LOT.

Nice Indian restaurant with familiar delicious dishes and a lunch special. We had: - Chicken tikka masala ($16) - Goat curry ($16) - Butter chicken ($15) which came with: - Samosa - Naan - Basmati rice - Gulab jamun The butter chicken was fantastic! Ultra rich, thick sauce and incredibly tender chicken. The chicken tikka masala had a great rich sauce, but the chicken was a bit dry. The goat curry was thinner and less flavorful and exciting, but I enjoyed the novelty of eating goat. Still a good dish. The samosa was very good. It was crisp and fresh on the outside. The naan was puffy and thick, but I wish it was a little crisper rather than chewy. The gulab jamun was perfectly sweet and dense. The rice was fine but could've used more saffron. The host even threw in extra rice to go for free! The portions were small of each, but it was an ample feast given the number of courses. We were the only ones in the restaurant on a Saturday for lunch at 12:30 PM. The host was very friendly and chatty. The restaurant was decorated very nicely for Diwali. An overall great experience, and I'd return

Excellent food and service. The ambience is very cozy and the people are very friendly. We ordered Tandoori Chicken, Butter Chicken, Railway Goat Curry, Basil Garlic Naan, Roshomalai, and Kulfi. Each time was amazing but Butter Chicken and Basil Garlic Naan were the stars - mind blowing! I highly recommend! One of the warmest welcomes and best services ever.

Had no intentions of eating dinner here but walked past and my nose just had a mind of its own. It's a really cozy little restaurant where the owner greets every table and introduces himself. Super friendly! He recommended the butter chicken signature dish and boy did that not disappoint! I also got the mango shrimp appetizer and that was phenomenal. I really was just spooning the sauce by the mouthful. The food wasn't oily and the two entrees I had leaves me with the impression that other choices would be great as well. Recommended!

    Astonishing meal, plates eaten cleaned

The service, the food, the HOSPITALITY, the genuine love being offered to customers is astonishing. Sonny and Staff are the best Indian food I've ever eaten. Thank you Sonny and staff for the best meal. Love Nurse Jessica & Rich

Parking is always a challenge when heading to any restaurant in downtown, but since it was a weekday, we found a spot easily. The entrance and ambience are fabulous -- with Buddha statues placed at the entry and throughout the restaurant, and beautiful hanging red/lavender tree leaves adding a lot of charm Coming to food, as we were party of 7, we ordered * Kale Pakora * Bhindi Churi Muri: crispy, veryt thin slices of ladyfinger- good 4/5 * Lasooni gobhi *Tandoori Medley: mixed platter. Honestly, not sure why they'd include large chicken pieces here; felt like something borrowed from a buffet platter. The only items I liked were the mutton seekh kebab and prawns. *Gobhi Manchurian: too much sauce - 3/5 * Jhinga Masala: tomato-based gravy with prawns, nothing extraordinary, 3/5 * Bhuna Gost : nope, could not find the gravy... 2.5/5 * Lamb Biryani: average and disappointing, 2.5/5 * Eggplant Bharta * Gobhi Paratha, Tandoori Roti, Garlic Naan, Laccha Paratha * Jaljeera, Lassi, Lime soda To be honest, food was pretty average. Bharta and Bhuna Gosht definitely could've been better. It felt very hit or miss--none of the dishes really stood out Also, Portion was way less then what other restaurant serves! Service was good but again we were the only party there! they added 20 % gratuity by default Overall, I'd rate it 3 to 3.5/5 at best. I'll probably skip it next time unless they bring in something new. Bring some new flavor team, you are not offering anything new!

Flavor bomb burrata was amazing - on top of a naan, tomatoes and green garlic chimichurri with a fresh burrata and what was like a very sweet spicy honey on top - delicious. Sadly they were out of the truffle chicken masala. We opted for the butter chicken - also delicious and rich. Palak paneer - always nice to see the spinach version. Very good. Both were great with the garlic and butter naans... sopped up with the naan or rice, delicious. The 'Rarha' Lamb Chops were ok, overcooked until the bone crumbled so a bit hard to pick up, cutting it was a bit tough, and the mustard-tumeric potatoes were very good but heavy. BYOB. Menu completely online and somewhat hard to see -- bring a big phone. Street or muni lot parking. Servers were pleasant but often busy cleaning up - a bit of dropping things all night - customers knocked over their lights, dishes fell, glasses broke - I felt like it was a Jewish wedding with all the wares falling on the floor mid-way through dinner. Portions are solid and they also gave to-go bags for the leftover naan and boxes for the leftover dishes.

We stopped by Four Monkeys on a busy Friday night, and the place was packed, always a promising sign. Even with the crowd, parking wasn't an issue at all; Lot 3 is right nearby and there's plenty of street parking, which made getting in and out painless. Inside, the restaurant is on the smaller side, but they've managed to fit in a surprising number of tables without making it feel cramped. The lighting is dim and moody in a way that works well for the space, and the subtle monkey-themed decor is genuinely charming- playful but tasteful. Menus are all via QR code, and even the cutlery feels upgraded and fancy, adding a nice touch. Service was a highlight. The staff is friendly, helpful, and refreshingly honest as they guided us through the menu, prevented us from over-ordering, and offered thoughtful recommendations. For water, they give you options: tap, sparkling, or still. What we ordered: * Pili Mirch Paneer Tikka (appetizer) * Bandar Butter Chicken * Homestyle Bhuna Chicken * Garlic Naan (pro tip: the naans are huge, one is easily enough for two people) The paneer app was really solid, think paneer tikka with a definite kick, paired with some tasty dipping sauce, chutney, and even grilled pineapple. A fun combo and definitely one of the stronger dishes. The mains, though, both the butter chicken and homestyle bhuna chicken, leaned very much on the milder side. The sauces were more liquidy than expected, and they felt geared toward diners who prefer Indian food without the heat. With slightly less gravy and a bit more spice, both dishes could've been standouts. The garlic naan was fine, though more firm than the soft, melt-in-your-mouth style I usually prefer. Overall, I'd say Four Monkeys is a good try and a nice addition to Summit, but probably not my go-to Indian spot for the food alone. That said, the ambiance is great, the staff is wonderful, and it's worth a visit, especially if you're into milder Indian flavors or want a cozy, lively night out.
