Delivery Order - This is from a GrubHub order on 8/23, and overall experience was not good. Definitely not one of the many authentic Indian Restaurants in NJ. Order was after the recent name change to Aganja Kitchen Chicken Biryani barely had any salt, not sure whether they forgot to add or it was too little since rice did not have any salt but chicken had some salt. Even after adding salt, overall flavor was not great. Mutton Masala tasted fine but the meat was tough and chewy, so I ended up just using the masala and throwing out the meat. We loved the food here! We got an assortment of takeout: goat curry, fried chicken mom, naan. The lamb shishkebab was my favorite. I recommend calling to confirm your order- we ordered online and they lost the order, but made up for it by preparing the food quickly and throwing in some samosas. Providing an updated review since the business changed their name from Clove Garden to Aganja kitchen. I had the tamarind eggplant again which I really enjoyed- though I will say the eggplant is truly crispy if you eat in- but if you take out then it will get soggy and lose the crisp (understandable given the sauces). Definitely a dish you should eat in to get the crispness that is so good and chip like. I tried the palak kofta (spinach and paneer balls) and a chickpea dish- both were tasty though my friend though there was too much oil on the chickpea dish. They also made the mild- mild enough for me. Don't skip the rasmalai for dessert! read more

Picked up takeout tonight from what used to be called Clove Garden, now renamed Aganja Kitchen. The food was just awful, nothing like the Clove Garden mentioned in the reviews. Must be new ownership/management/chef. I have travelled to India many times, eaten Indian in London and here in the NYC area and this doesn't resemble Indian food in the least. Ordered lunch special of Chicken Tika Masala ( I know very boring of me!) but everything was so delicious! The chicken! The chutney and the naan were yum! The restaurant is take out only which is really unfortunate but I do wish they would make the space more attractive. It's basically a curtain and for the area it doesn't fit. Parking is across the street or along North Ave. If I had one thing that shocked me was the price, for a lunch special it was very expensive. I guess I'm used to the prices in nearby towns with large Indian populations like Iselin or Edison. At this restaurant, I paid over $35 for two lunch specials. Restaurants in the area usually charge $10-12 for a lunch special and that even comes with a canned soda. There is so much variety of food in this area I think the price would dissuade someone from here. I know it's another cuisine but still $35+ for 2 lunch specials is a lot. If that's a lunch special I can't imagine regular price. I would come here again, absolutely. Food was delicious and the lady was very nice! For a treat, though not on a regular basis. Heading through Wakefield you could easily miss this gem on busy Old Tower Hill Rd. Don't let the small exterior stop you from trying the big flavors that await you inside. I hadn't even heard of Clove Garden until a friend suggested we meet there for dinner and I am so we did!! The staff took excellent care of us ensuring that we ordered the spice level we preferred and happily answered questions. The lamb spinach and chicken tikka dishes were perfection, tender and flavorful and accompanied by a delicious garlic naan. Clove Garden is an easy drive from URI, and from any destination via Rt 1 it's a quick trip. Be sure to give them a try, you will be so glad you did!! i like they have specific VEGAN and VEGETARIAN menus, i ordered the cauliflower appetizer sweet breaded glazed in a tangy sauce delicious! had the aloo gobi vegan chunks of potatoes and cauliflower with a delicious slightly sweet and spicy sauce chana saag vegan chick peas spinach creamy sauce 2 orders of plain naan every thing was delicious good togo portions they have an original restaurant in jersey city which i've been to always busy! they've only been opened a week and they have 4 large tables for dining in im sure i'll be back they replaced the RED PEPPER togo that was there and to be honest being a lover of vegetarian indian food they both are delicious but glad clove garden is closer for me rather than going on rt 22 for red pepper read more

The lunch special is a great value, with a huge portion of rice and curry, an entire naan, a veggie samosa with 2 chutneys, a container of dal, and a bit of dessert. I get this to share with my 2 toddlers and we're always stuffed and so happy. Service is super friendly and fast, prices are great, portions are good, what's not to like?
