Momo Hut - Edison, NJ Decent but not as great as expected…read more Saw a 4.2-star rating on Google and decided to check out Momo Hut in Edison. Honestly, I was a bit disappointed. As vegetarians, we only tried the veg steamed momos--they looked promising but were not fully cooked inside and had a chewy texture that took away from the experience. The spicy chutney on the side was the saving grace--flavorful and had a good kick! The location is great--right in the heart of Oak Tree Road, but parking is a hassle. There's a tiny lot in the back, but it's tight and usually full. Service was okay, but could be quicker especially when it's not that crowded. It's hard to get seats inside on peak times . Had to stand and eat ! We didn't try the chili or tandoori momos this time, but they looked tempting. Might give it another shot just to try those. Overall: Average experience, 3 stars. Needs improvement on the basics.

I am normally very skeptical about trying new momos, but there was too much crowd at other stalls so decided to try this . Ordered one veg steam and chicken steam Jhol momo. Veg momo - what was it? The thick layer, inside -it was a mix of something but did not feel like it. Jhol in Jhol Momo- could be better, seems like they need to up their game. They call themselves Nepali but they just give the KT to some newcomers and leave the business in their hands. Nope, not good..! On the other hand, the sauces were good and that was the savior in gulping down these momos. I don't wanna compare but Momo in the Queen's area - they are too good. Try 'Momo Crave' out there... also, sitting is in the common area which is always busy it seems, and cleaning of tables- let's not go there Overall 2.5/5 for me.

Over a long wintery holiday weekend the family decided to give this new spot a shot and we were immediately stumped by a majority of the menu. (I'd like to think I can hold my own chatting about Gautama but I was lost seeing the likes of "tarkari" and "chatamari" and "jimbu".) Between the four of us we sampled a fair amount of stuff... from various Momos to Sukuti Chow Mein to Samosas and Naans. With zero reference point to what would be 'good Nepalese food' and just a wee bit of experience with the likes of other South Asian cuisine you need to take our opinions with a sliver of yak butter... "This is hotter than any Thai food I ever tried." - one kid "This is too hot. It's killing me." - the other kid (My kids generally dig spicy food and like to try to one-up each other so it was funny to see them 'suffering' and hoping their sibling would wave the white flag first and quit on dinner.) "Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, but mine was just two-stars." - the Mrs. ...and then there's the guy that just went vegetarian and loved every single thing I tried. My steamed momo dish was bursting with so much flavor. (There's a Korean spot in town and their veggie dumplings can't compete.) The naan was perfect. (Everyone loved their naan - the one item that offered some relief from all the spicy-heat.) The samosa - crunchy, dense, not really sure what's inside (beans and potatoes?) - were deep-fried scrumptiousness. The place is small, cute, and had a great lively energy the Saturday night I went to grab our order. Very limited street parking (competing with another restaurant right next to them). The pricing was absurdly decent. We had a lot of food for under $70 which is awesome. Easy 5-stars from me. (Averaging all four family members' scores and it's sadly just 3.5)

One of the best dishes they used to have there were spinach and cheese momos, they got rid of it. That dish was also one of the things that made it unique and better than alot of the momo places i have been to. They have the chicken momos, which are decent, the beef one is meh. They also got rid of the mixed momos option. For the mains: Pad gra prao is decent but too salty, spicy but not too spicy. Chicken with chili, it has good heat, but that's all. The flavor is just weird, the chicken is nice and tender, but the sauce tastes weird as if they put too much corn starch in it and mixed in some weird smoke flavor. Not a fan. Overall: may come back in another year to see if they added the spinach and cheese momos back, at the same time, I'm gonna find a new go to place nearby.

I was so happy to hear that they opened another restaurant in Glen Cove! Plenty of street parking is available, and they even have a shared parking lot in back of the restaurant! I parked in the back, and entered the restaurant via the backdoor! Note that there are stairs at the back entrance, so if you can't do stairs, it's best to park in front of the restaurant. This Glen Cove locations is lovely; beautiful murals and great vibes. I was shocked and sad to see it so empty on a Saturday evening! I hope more people give this place a chance because the food and service is great! This was our Shared Menu (plenty for 2ppl, and we had leftovers): -- Water Buffalo Momos w.Chili Sauce (8pcs/$18): the Momos were tasty; the meat was very lean. I would skip the Chili sauce next time. I didn't like the sweet and sour taste of the sauce, so next time I'd like to try the steamed Momos with Johl sauce instead. -- Choila Roti "Not a Taco" with Jackfruit (2pcs/$12): Not a Taco but similar to a taco. This was delicious and I'd get this again. We choice the Jackfruit version but they also have a chicken version. -- Masala Wings (Sauteed wet version) (4pcs/$11): I remember really liking the wings when I was at the Ridgewood location but couldn't recall which wings we had. On this visit, we had the wet version which was good but I realized that I like their dry version better. -- Grilled Lamb Chops w.Timur Sauce, Veggies & white rice (2pcs/$25): Surprisingly, this was my least fave dish of the night. I normally love lamb chops but these chops didn't really have a nice seared taste to them. The texture was a little off for me. Also, it was very boney with not much meat. I would try another entree next time. All in all, a good meal! I found the large selection of appetizers more interesting than the entrees, and would have been happy just sharing a bunch of appetizers and small plates. Customer service was welcoming and friendly! It was a pleasure to chat with the owner. Nice addition to the neighborhood!

Especially with the dipping sauce, which I had thought was strange at first, but a great compliment to the flavors of the momo. My mom had the lunch special, and let me just say... it came with the works. A full meal, sure to satisfy. I don't exactly remember what she had, as it was the first time being here. But it's definitely worth the price. The place, is rather small, but adequate. Kind of gives you that eastern Asian vibe, especially since it's Nepalese cuisine. The girl who served us was quite humble, friendly and attentive. I highly recommend coming here if you're in the mood for something tasty and relatively inexpensive. The flavors are definitely way better than the price offered. I hope and wish this place will remain in business for awhile, as my mother and I were extremely satisfied with everything of this place.

And to think that we would have missed out if our server didn't suggest it... These particular naans are made different from the traditional Iones. They are coated with buttery goodness and are super thin. The hummus on the side was also a very good pairing. I would recommend this app. PORK JHOL MOMO 5/5 These pork momos were also super delicious! Comparing it to the ones I've had at another restaurant, there is no overpowering cilantro in this one! The momo itself was very juicy. The flavor of the inside and the soup was delicious. Another must-get! CHICKEN KHAJA PLATTER 4/5 My friend and I were probably the least impressed with this one. A lot of the dish includes a lot of dry ingredients like popped rice & soybean seeds. They also used cold meats and veggies. It was great to try each portion of the platter, but wasn't our personal favorites of our visit here. Overall, we had a delicious lunch. We throughly enjoyed our experience here and would definitely recommend this local spot. I did think it was worth the trip over.

4-Star Review - Delhi Garden, NJ…read more Tried Delhi Garden recently on a friend's recommendation. It's a bit out of the way from the central Edison area, but worth a visit every now and then. I saw some solid reviews online and decided to check it out. Service was good . Atmosphere not that great . Overall, I was leaning toward a 3-star rating, but a few standout dishes pushed it to a 4. The aloo cutlet with chole was the star of the show--super authentic and flavorful. The paneer tikka and paneer masala also hit the mark taste-wise, though I wish they had packed a bit more spice. The paneer tandoor came in a generous portion, but again, it could've used more flavor. The biryani was just average. One common theme--everything was low on spice, and the small container of spicy sauce they give barely lasted a few bites. It's a takeout-only spot, so no dine-in tables, and the parking area is small but manageable. Price-wise, it felt fair for the portion sizes. Not perfect, but worth trying if you're in the mood for North Indian flavors and don't mind customizing the spice at home!
