We went for a late dinner on a Friday night around 9:45 pm. The atmosphere was pleasant, with soft music playing in the background. However, the staff seemed rushed and pressured us to place our order quickly. As a result, we couldn't explore the menu much and ended up ordering the Mysore Masala Dosai and Mini Tiffin--both of which were excellent and well worth the price. The pricing is slightly higher than other Indian restaurants, but the quality justifies it. That said, the service felt hurried. We were asked to pay even before we finished eating. It might help if the restaurant adjusted staff shift times or revised the posted closing time to avoid making customers feel rushed. I recommend visiting at least two hours before closing--around 8:30 pm--to enjoy the meal without feeling pressured. read more

I have fond memories of visiting A2B in South Delhi's Green Park and enjoying appam - as well as randomly the best pistachio milkshake of my life - on a cold winter evening. There are a few imposter A2B stores in Manhattan, but to my knowledge the only branches actually affiliated with the Indian chain are in New Jersey. Everything was excellent. Our favorites were the Andhra items - the Andhra style paneer was mind-blowing, and the special Andhra thali available only on weekends had some excellent sabzis, in addition to being served with ghee, podi and tangy homemade achaar. We also tried the keerai vada, which is similar to Maharashtran kothimbhir vadi in flavor and was well-received, and my all-time favorite thatte idli, which had a generous layer of podi and ghee. South Plainfield location in central jersey always delivers good food consistently. We usually get the potato masala dosa- which is the mildest one next to the plain dosa. Crisp dosa and well seasoned potatoes and the chutneys are slightly sweet coconut chutney and another saltier /savory chutney . It also comes with lentil soup which pairs beautifully with the whole meal. We've had the mango lassi with is tart and rich - just perfect. This is an interesting restaurant to try for anyone who isn't a native Indian. I was completely unaware of what I ordered with the Appam and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It's a rice crepe-like pancake full of holes an came with 2 dipping sauces, a sweet coconut milk and a savory lentil curry. We came with high expectations, having heard so many positive reviews about the place, but the food fell short. We ordered one big thali, parotta korma, cheese dosa, and filter coffee. Except for the dosa and coffee, nothing met our expectations in terms of taste or quality. This was our first visit, and sadly, it did not live up to the hype. My new dosa favorite after Saravanna bhavan! Dosa is a thin and sometimes extremely crispy crepe with rice and or lentil. We ordered appetizers such as mini idli with sambar and banana flower fritters. Kids ordered plain crispy dosa and cheese dosa while I went for the quintessential Mysore masala dosa with potato filling. The sambar or lentil soup accompaniment was just right consistency , not spicy at all so kids could eat. The chutneys were probably the only weakness and slightly bland compared to saravana bhavan. Overall very attentive staff, clean and welcoming ambiance. Place can go extremely crowded especially during weekends where they run out of tables so avoid the peak times. Most people prefer the huge big thali which is almost a sampler of various dishes arranged in a circular manner, small portions on a plate which can get very filling. I'm writing this review for both the South Plainfield and Princeton locations as they just mirror each other and there is no concern that I could even think of. I've been here enough number of times than any other restaurant I've been to, in NJ or even in the US and that makes me bonafide e to write this review. If you are in the state of Tamilnadu in India, you will know that this restaurant is the Mecca of South Indian vegetarian restaurants and people will swear by it, for its taste and quality. There are also other restaurants in NJ that are run as franchise of some famous south Indian restaurants, but the A2B is unlike others. These two do not disappoint a bit and stay true the brand's authenticity. The taste and quality are exceptional and the staff are kind and pleasant. BEST IDLIS IN THE US! This was my second-time visit to this restaurant and we weren't disappointed at all. Whenever we visit this restaurant we end up eating way too much. I was handed an enormous box containing the South Indian Thali by my good friend. I asked no questions. I opened the box and my jaw dropped because there was way too many little cups filled with an assortment of veggie dishes, achars, and dals. It was a dream come true for the guy who likes to try a little bit of everything. Consider it a mini buffet. I didn't know the names of anything I was eating or even what the contents really were, but all I cared about was that it was vegetarian and SO delicious. Don't think too hard about it, just enjoy dipping your papar and chapati in everything and enjoying. My favorite thing was this spicy dusty stuff that I think might have been crack it was so good. Been to dozens of Indian restaurants and have loved the variety that NJ has to offer in terms of authentic Indian food BUT this one tastes like home and not another fancy high end restaurant. Took the parents ( they eat only Indian cuisine) here when they were visiting us in US and it was their favorite!!! Dishes tried so far- Dosa, Idli, vada, sambhar, ghee pongal, bisibelebath, mango lassi, rava kesari and south indian thali. Not even a single item is less than perfect! It is so economical and our go to place when we are looking for some comfort home style food. Oh- they have special jackfurit biryani ( I guess its available only for Saturday brunch- you guys HAVE to try it, its soooo yum!!!) My mouth is watering already after writing all this! My parents in Edison have been raving about this restaurant for a long time. We finally had a chance to go and loved it. The menu is pretty big so took us awhile to decide. We shared a masala utapam which was fluffy with a nice crusty top. I could've used more of the masala part, which was onion and spices but would get again. The thin, crispy masala dosa was excellent. The masala in this case means a potato and onion mixture stuffed inside. Yes, confusing. The masala in the dosa was so tasty. Utapam and dosa came with an awesome sambhar and chutneys. My dad got the veg korma and paratha. The korma was rich, creamy with a wonderful spiced flavors without being spicy. I could've made a whole meal out of that flaky, warm paratha! It was perfect. The lemon rice needed lemon but it was still really good. Yes that's weird I know. I'm big on temperature of food and wish that it was better but not a big complaint. A tad bit too overpriced, especially for some of the portions given. But, before starting off with this I can say the atmosphere is pretty average. Noise level was loud, not very comforting until you go outside, there's outdoor seating there. The staff is somewhat organized, however no physical menus were given due to covid issues probably. The scanned menu did not work, maybe this was a glitch. The atmosphere here wasn't anything horrible, yet it wasn't the best either. Perhaps the day was all too busy as it was Friday. But, the most upsetting thing is since menus aren't there to preview in the boards for teas and other drinks people can be easily fooled. A standard cup of masala tea usually ranges from $1-$2, this depends on the areas. Even the most luxurious places in NYC and NJ will go up to $2. However, I was shocked to know a standard eight ounce cup of tea was $3.95. For the price I assumed the cup was bigger, sadly when I opened my cup to add my sugar I was even more shocked. The tea was not filled up properly, this means that the price for this cup masala cha was somewhat unreasonable. While the tea tasted well, like the standard cup of masala cha, it was not worth the rave and price. If someone ordered five cups or so for a their families this would cost around $20. These cups are usually marketed for $1-$2 elsewhere, I was shocked to know they marked them up this high and the amount of tea was limited. Very shocking... and surely not worth the price. read more
