    Samosa Taco

An interesting concept of Chipotle-style bowls with Indian food. We were visiting our family in NJ and when we were wondering where to go, this recommendation popped up. So we went. We ordered a plethora of items from their signature menu, like the Butter Paneer taco, samosa taco, and Tandoori Paneer Kati roll. I liked them all. Some of the other folks in our group ordered some chicken based dishes and said they were quite good as well. It's unique and fresh and such cute names of the items like Naandilla and Chana Sombrero! The girl behind the service counter was extremely friendly and helped us with options.

Got the paneer passion bowl, and it was pretty good. The one thing that bothered me was the majority of the bowl (rice and vegetables) was kind of cold/room temperature, but the paneer was really hot, which felt like too much of a contrast against the remainder of the bowl temperature wise.

This is my new fav spot to build my own bowls!!! I love both Indian and Mexican food, so I love the fusion concept. The flavors are explosive and everything tastes so fresh! The samosa taco is a MUST The ambience is inviting and the service is great. Can't wait to come back!

Fun fast casual restaurant that blends Indian spices with Mexican street food. They have customizable bowls and some classic Indian street snacks, as well as creative fusion options (like paneer rice bowl, butter chicken tacos, tajin mango lassi etc.). I tried a paneer kati roll, which was smaller than expected but nice and tasty - I especially enjoyed the cilantro mentha dipping sauce that it came with. Staff was very friendly. The interior is sleek, dark, and modern, though I think the restaurant might be more enticing if they embraced the bright colors of India or Mexico. Regardless, a unique and flavorful restaurant to check out!

A super cute, modern spot tucked along a bustling street! The food is fresh, flavorful, and the Indian-Mexican fusion concept is incredibly well-executed. The variety of sauces and toppings add exciting layers to each dish--bold flavors with customizable spice levels that really stand out. The samosa chaat was bursting with authentic Indian flavors, just the way it should be. The "Build Your Own Bowl" was loaded with delicious protein options, and the Chicken Kathi Roll was a standout--tender, juicy, and packed with flavor thanks to the perfect sauce pairing. The service is quick and the staff is friendly. A great place for quick bites that don't compromise on taste. Highly recommend!

Chipotle meets Indian food but with much more quality and flavor. You create your own dish walking down the counter and selecting ingredients/ mexican rice or biryani protein (paneer is an option) curry sauce, butter masala, etc black beans, channa masala, etc toppings more sauces including chutneys, what elote too!? Naan on the side please- made to order. You can create a lot of flavor if you are creative! Friendly staff, street parking or a few municipal lots. Will be back with the fam. Why 4 stars instead of 5? The paneer temp was a bit lukewarm, would have loved for it to be hot.

First time dining here, and the food was absolutely incredible! I opted for the taco with chicken and butter gravy, while my girlfriend chose a bowl of chicken and biryani rice. The delightful fusion of Indian and Mexican flavors was a perfect harmony, and the twistanada and sauce complemented each other perfectly. If you're a fan of spicy food, this dish was just right. The service was equally impressive. The two gentlemen who assisted us were patient, knowledgeable, and attentive, even though they were busy. Their helpfulness made our dining experience enjoyable from beginning to end. Thank you to these two gentlemen for making our visit truly memorable! The ambiance is really chill as well clean seats and tables. Comfortable to say the least

Masalamex has the best parts of chipotle and your local indian spot, delivered in a savory bowl that provides a bang for your buck. I went with my family and were greeted by friendly staff members who answered all of our questions and made our bowls to perfection. You can order at the kiosk or at the counter for a BYO bowl. I got their signature paneer bowl with the chana masala instead of the black beans and it was so good. I've had indian fusion bowls in many different cities before and always feel like they're overpriced and bland, but these bowls FINALLY hit the spot. The paneer was super soft and plentiful, the mix-ins and sauces pack flavor in every bite, and the spice level can be customized based on what you end. The portions are huge and I got 2 meals out of 1 serving. They do have indoor seating but its limited, so I would recommend take out or sitting outside by the towns outdoor seating if you have a larger group. Overall, this is a place I can see myself frequenting whenever I'm in town. Definitely vegetarian & vegan friendly with gluten free options as well

Masalamex is a nice addition to downtown Westfield and definitely gets an A for effort and flavor. I got the lamb bowl and really enjoy the spice and flavors. If I was being picky, I'd say the lamb was a tad dry and the combination of the saag sauce, the spicy sauce, and the elote made it all really heavy. But, I still really enjoyed it. The bowl was very reasonably priced too. I also really enjoyed the samosa. The naan was solid. Not a place I'll crave, but will definitely go back and is worth a try. I hope it does well.

The chicken is so tender and flavorful, with a crispy and soft tortilla, it has to be tried here. However they are marinating the chicken, it works well. While they've kept much of the original name and decor, nearly every aspect of the menu has changed, and in my opinion, not for the better. The authentic Mexican dishes that made Tinga stand out have been replaced with a fusion concept that simply doesn't deliver the same quality, flavor, or overall dining experience. What was once a reliable destination for great Mexican food now feels like an entirely different restaurant hiding behind the old brand. What pushed me to write this review, however, wasn't just the menu change. Despite not having visited in nearly two years, I've been receiving a steady stream of promotional text messages. I've replied multiple times explaining that I never agreed to receive marketing texts and asking to be removed from their list, yet the messages continue. There is a big difference between marketing to current customers and repeatedly texting someone who intentionally stopped patronizing the business years ago. Using customer contact information in this way feels intrusive and disrespectful. If the goal is to win back former customers, ignoring repeated requests to stop texting is probably the worst possible approach. I miss the original Tinga. The food that brought me there is gone, and the continued unwanted marketing only reinforces my decision not to return.

Though residing in a small former train station, it doesn't feel overly cramped, and the service was attentive enough to keep people moving. The meal itself felt a little over the top, with lots of flavors that didn't always meld well. We started with Nachos with Manchego Queso, which were not worth $18 even though the flavor was good. The order wasnt quite enough for two hungry people, though we also didn't opt for additional protein on top. We went with tacos for our main dish, and there we found the chicken to be the clear winner. The meat was hot, juicy, and complete with a hint of spice that brought the heat in all the right ways. Unfortunately, the brisket felt like the opposite experience, suffering from a sauce that had far too earthy of a flavor, which wasn't well-balanced with the cilantro that covered the meat. I needed to douse these ones in the spicy side sauce to make them palatable. Finally, we tried maize fries out of curiosity. I am no longer curious about corn fries - they were bland, with a texture and look of a French toast stick but with none of the satisfying taste. If I returned, I'd do it for drinks in the beautiful bar area. But when the drinks are done and it's time to eat, I'd recommend hitting the tracks.

For some of us, it might simply call for going out and getting tacos or even just preparing our own. Situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Roselle Park, this establishment is set inside a small corner suburban home where some of my colleagues decided on takeout, which came highly recommended. Upon arrival at Taqueria La Casita, or "The Little House Taqueria," we were confronted outside by the neon signage reading "Tacos Open" and Mexican flags, among other pieces of colorful decor. Greeted by the staff inside an un-air-conditioned cozy dining room decked out in its Mexican splendor with 4 tables. In the back, a colorful menu with nearly a dozen different types of tacos and an array of other dishes written by hand. We opted for individual orders containing 4 tacos with Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, and Pork. While waiting, we couldn't help but notice the trompo--the spinning, shawarma-adjacent log of marinated pork used for Al Pastor, which translates to "in the style of the shepherd." Originating in Puebla, this came at the hands of Lebanese immigrants during the 1930s. The tortilla itself was freshly made, of the corn variety. They were stuffed to the brim with meat prepared in front of us and served with cucumbers and lime. Fresh condiments of diced onion, cilantro, and avocado were separated in their own container, and all were needed. Various sauces accompanied in small containers, such as green, which was jalapeño-based; the darker red salsa was smoky from dried and smoked chipotle chilis; and neon orange, which was a sauce made from chili de arbol and tomato. The guacamole was absolutely delicious along with the chips, and we couldn't get enough. The portion was a healthy size. The service was fast; Maribel was friendly and accommodating. Authentic, fresh, and affordable--we can recommend this place.
