Salsa

First of all it's not owned by Mexican, or ran by any Mexican if so I didn't see any Mexican people there. Only saw a few Indians. I don't care about the workers or the owners race usually but when it comes to Mexican food I still don't care but if it says Mexican then is should taste like Mexican, the culture is very important they bring so much unique flavor to their plates and I feel like this place really really tried their best but unfortunately they are far from actually making their food taste like Mexican. Nothing about my plate taste Mexican. It wasn't nasty but the flavor was completely off and I was so disappointed because Mexican is my favorite food I just felt like they crossed a line they shouldn't have lol they where really nice but they should really change the the style from a "tex Mex" to an "indie Mex" . Food was greasy, chicken had char which I usually like but we all know that doesn't go in a burrito with beans rice and cheese cuz it over powers the taste. Salsa was horrible ! Weird weird taste not good at all. I'm just over very disappointed. I paid $48 for one chimichanga, quesadilla and chips and salsa and it just wasn't worth it !.... . . To the owner that replied that the issue was an Indian employee no actually she was nice and sweet. It's the false assumption I had in my head that I was going to eat "Mexican food" but reallly wasn't. Had nothing to do with her. She was great . But Indian food is far different than Mexican n on ur website it says "FRESH MEXICAN" food. That's all is deceiving. Oh n it was the quesadilla that was greasy not my burrito. Yea it's my opinion but I must not be the only one since ur restaurants yelp reviews rate at 3.1 star ‍

Steak Tacos

Came for dinner on a Saturday with two people. Chips and salsa for the table were stale. Food came quick but was cold when arrived. Both meals also tasted bland. The tacos came with both hard and soft tortillas, which made it pretty doughy compared to the rest of the flavors. My favorite thing I ate was the rice and beans on the side of the tacos.

Great local spot for a quick bite when in the mood for Mexican. Big portions at very reasonable prices. Shout out to Kevin, you were the best! They give you chips and salsa before the meal. I went with the Blackened Cat fish tacos, very good and came with rice and beans. Enough for two meals. Will definitely be back!

Wow. Zero stars. Bad food. WAY overpriced. Skimped on ingredients. False advertisement. I literally have never written a bad review before, but my experience today was just terrible. Also, I assume the owner will respond with a passive aggressive insult, as it seems he has no interest in bettering his business, but instead seems to think all of his customers are the problem but I digress. Before I get into the details of my terrible food experience, I would like to say that my waiter was very nice and I believe did the best with what he had. But beyond that, everything was terrible. After passing so many beautiful and interesting restaurants in Westfield, my husband and I decided to give Tinga a try because of the "Taco Tuesday" sign, which advertised $2.50 tacos, and well, it was Tuesday! We sat down, and when I inquired about the Taco Tuesday special, the waiter looked very confused and asked "where did you see that?". I explained it was on the sign outside. He ignored this (but I've attached a picture of the sign here) and just said they aren't offering this but might in the future...Instead, their menu price for 2 tacos was somewhere around $15-17. My husband decided to get the catfish tacos anyway, and they were bland and soggy. I got empanadas, which were the worst empanadas I have ever ever ever had. Overall, everything had somewhat of a weird/ off flavor. Either that or just bland. My "beef" empanada dough had a sweet/ cinnamon/ cumin flavor and was almost like a pancake batter consistency, very doughy, so strange. The inside was like 10% beef, 90% watery tomatoes and peas??? It was just bad. Flavor (what little there was) was just so so off. We are both currently sick to our stomachs, literally. and I've seen other reviews that say the same. The reviews that mention the restaurant being dirty are true. I honestly have never had a worst meal in my life. I'm angry with myself for eating any of it, we just felt so embarrassed to say anything in the moment after sitting down. I hope the owner takes the bad reviews as constructive criticism and tries to improve rather than arguing with all of the people who would be happy to give him business if he ran an honest and good restaurant. Bad food. WAY overpriced. Skimped on ingredients. False advertisement. Zero stars.

Blackened catfish taco

Ordered shrimp and catfish tacos. Tacos were a bit stale and the sauce they sent was bland with the look and consistency of peanut butter. But the worst was that I'm not really sure why my catfish was blue..

Grilled vegetable tacos

It was a good place for lunch. We went there on a Friday. We were seated right away. They also have some seats outdoor. The ambiance is good and server was nice too. As normal we were started with some chips and salsa right away. We ordered a bunch of dishes, I ordered GRILLED VEGETABLE TACOS. The tacos were in double shells which I thought was weird, although it tasted good. Still, I would have preferred one shell. The extra tortilla made the taco slightly milder. After dressing it up with the salsa and some hot sauce they were good. The other dishes were good too. The food was good and the people were nice. The food was good, as I expected but nothing extra ordinary that would blow you away. I would go again for a quick lunch and would recommend to try this place.

Enchilada platter

Quick service and great food! I've been to this place twice and have loved the food. They have many vegetarian options which is a huge plus being a vegetarian. I ordered an enchilada platter which came with rice, beans, and guacamole. I loved how the enchilada wasn't full of cheese and instead had beans inside. They also have a variety of burritos and quesadillas which are vegetarian that I want to try next time I visit. The service is super quick too. I was in and out of the place in an hour.

Typical "Mexican" restaurant interior with both high top seating & standard table seating. Staff were friendly and efficient, drinks were nice a strong. Food was good and this place could definitely be a local spot to go to on a whim. We had Quesadillas de Birria, Volcano Burrito-which they cut up and classify it as "sushi burritos," and Margaritas. It is important to note that the complimentary chips and salsa were good. Everything was good and I would suggest if someone was asking for something in the area, albeit I would run back here on a normal day. Nothing against the venue, please do not think that, it's just not my overall preferred type of food. For dinner, we had tostadas, the enchiladas in the green sauce, which were flavorful and satisfying, and we finished with churros for dessert sweet, crispy, and just what we needed to end the meal. The vibe was lively and welcoming, I loved the art they had inside. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food and drinks did not disappoint. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

Though residing in a small former train station, it doesn't feel overly cramped, and the service was attentive enough to keep people moving. The meal itself felt a little over the top, with lots of flavors that didn't always meld well. We started with Nachos with Manchego Queso, which were not worth $18 even though the flavor was good. The order wasnt quite enough for two hungry people, though we also didn't opt for additional protein on top. We went with tacos for our main dish, and there we found the chicken to be the clear winner. The meat was hot, juicy, and complete with a hint of spice that brought the heat in all the right ways. Unfortunately, the brisket felt like the opposite experience, suffering from a sauce that had far too earthy of a flavor, which wasn't well-balanced with the cilantro that covered the meat. I needed to douse these ones in the spicy side sauce to make them palatable. Finally, we tried maize fries out of curiosity. I am no longer curious about corn fries - they were bland, with a texture and look of a French toast stick but with none of the satisfying taste. If I returned, I'd do it for drinks in the beautiful bar area. But when the drinks are done and it's time to eat, I'd recommend hitting the tracks.

For some of us, it might simply call for going out and getting tacos or even just preparing our own. Situated in the middle of a residential neighborhood in Roselle Park, this establishment is set inside a small corner suburban home where some of my colleagues decided on takeout, which came highly recommended. Upon arrival at Taqueria La Casita, or "The Little House Taqueria," we were confronted outside by the neon signage reading "Tacos Open" and Mexican flags, among other pieces of colorful decor. Greeted by the staff inside an un-air-conditioned cozy dining room decked out in its Mexican splendor with 4 tables. In the back, a colorful menu with nearly a dozen different types of tacos and an array of other dishes written by hand. We opted for individual orders containing 4 tacos with Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, and Pork. While waiting, we couldn't help but notice the trompo--the spinning, shawarma-adjacent log of marinated pork used for Al Pastor, which translates to "in the style of the shepherd." Originating in Puebla, this came at the hands of Lebanese immigrants during the 1930s. The tortilla itself was freshly made, of the corn variety. They were stuffed to the brim with meat prepared in front of us and served with cucumbers and lime. Fresh condiments of diced onion, cilantro, and avocado were separated in their own container, and all were needed. Various sauces accompanied in small containers, such as green, which was jalapeño-based; the darker red salsa was smoky from dried and smoked chipotle chilis; and neon orange, which was a sauce made from chili de arbol and tomato. The guacamole was absolutely delicious along with the chips, and we couldn't get enough. The portion was a healthy size. The service was fast; Maribel was friendly and accommodating. Authentic, fresh, and affordable--we can recommend this place.
