Came here as I was invited by my daughter to have lunch with her. I don't usually go for Indian food but wanted to experience this cuisine so actually was excited to come. The restaurant is located in the Westfield downtown area. There are side street parking and public parking available. The restaurant was aesthetically modern and clean, with a touch of black and silver decor. Ambience was cool, chic. The receptionist was very welcoming and pleasant. We were given the chance to choose the table of our choice. For drinks, we ordered the mango lassi and the minty passion fruit cooler- both are excellent choices! For our appetizers, we ordered the crispy spinach cheese sticks with a mildly spiced dipping sauce and dahi puri- a crispy crusty pastry filled with cool yogurt and spices- both are absolutely delicious! For the entree, we ordered the traditional butter chicken and the goat curry. We requested mils as I can't tolerate super spicy food. Served with basmati rice and the garlic naan. Another super delicious dish I would truly recommend. For desserts, we had the Gulab Jamun Truffle and Rasmalai cake. They also served us spiced chai tea with milk. after the meal. Overall, the meal exceeded expectations from the drinks to the dessert. Totally recommend this place. You won't be disappointed. Already planning to come back again!

    Mushroom kebab- needs chutney

Went here for lunch one weekday and at 1:25p we were the only ones dining (there were not even any pickups during the entire time we ate). Started off with a flat soda, but luckily they had some indian sodas in bottles to replace with. The two of us decided to share two apps, and one entree, beginning with the Lasooni Gobi. The description said crispy but this was absolutely not the case. Flavor was good and presentation was amazing with julienned peppers on top. Pulled mushroom kebab was next and while the concept was unique, the execution was lacking. This needed some chutneys desperately. Paneer Tikka Masala on deck next- and when I asked the kind waiter if the paneer was really chargrilled like the description- he said it was in fact not. Okay, odd but thanks for the honesty. This dish has potential and was okay but never would be worth $28 esp with the appetizer serving size. We asked if the place was usually this empty and were told yes for lunches. We also learned the place was under new management. The ambience was nice, staff kind, food okay but the prices about 2x what they should be for the quality of food, serving sizes and location (come on this is the burbs not the city!) Our bill was $100 for a lassi, soda, 9 pieces of cauliflower, 3 silver dollar kebabs and 8 smaller- sized paneer. Nope. Advice: Offer much more reasonably prices lunch specials. More generous serving sizes and continue to improve food quality (there is potential)

Fine dining restaurant. We got biriyani and an appetizer. Biriyani had a nice visual appeal as it was sealed with bread. The appetizer was fresh. We were seated outside. Good service

Love is in the air at Spice Bazaar, one of my absolute favorites in NJ for a Cosy Date night. Let me take you behind the scenes for a romantic journey--obviously with food (my second love)-- into their Valentine's Day Menu! . No prizes for guessing my first love! Picture this - Charcoaled Salmon with Lemon Rice and Malvani Sauce. Indulge in the elegance of charred salmon, perfectly seasoned with Malvani masala sauce, coconut, kokum, black pepper corns, dry red chilies, and coriander. A symphony of flavors from the South Konkan region, crafted with love. Now, let's spice up your Valentine's Day with Guntur Shrimp Tacos! Fall in love with masala coleslaw and mustard aioli. These are not your average Tacos! The fried shrimp is soft and flavorful (it could be more spicy though) and the thepla base adds an extra layer of flavor! Time to heat up your romantic celebrations with the showstopper - Tandoori Chicken Tangri served with Khichdi. No child's play, this massive tandoori tangri, perfect for two, will ignite the flames of that Delhi wala tandoori chicken. Ask the chef to add that extra kick to your khichdi, and you'll get it just right to add that extra spark to your Valentine's Day dinner. Don't miss out on these Valentine's Day specials; they're an absolute must-try for you and your loved ones.

Chicken Tikka Masala Arabic Naan Cheesy Garlic Naan Shahi Korma

The food was 10/10 . It wasn't busy so we basically had the restaurant to ourselves. The garlic cheese naan (not on the menu) but let me tell you, that cheese pull was great! Chicken Tikka Masala was on the sweet side, so for me 7/10 but if you ask my husband it was 11/10 . Let me rave about this Shahi Korma, nutty taste and just the right amount of spice that builds with every bite paired with the Arabic Naan was 10/10. This might be my new favorite Indian spot.

Had a feast @spicebazaarnj and I highly recommend it! Their menu features a wide variety of Indian classics and specials, all made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The dishes are modern, but the flavors are still authentic. We ordered the: Masala Dosa Croquettes: These croquettes were filled with a delicious masala filling and served with coconut chutney. They were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. Shakarkandi Sweet Potato Chaat: This chaat was packed with flavor, and the sweet potatoes were a great addition. Ten Spice Chicken Sheekh Kebab: These kebabs were juicy and flavorful, and the spices were perfectly balanced. Yellow Tadka Lentils/Daal Tadka: The daal was delicious and creamy, and they paired perfectly with the kebabs and Lacha paratha (layered flatbread). The paratha was served hot and crispy. Definitely would order this again. Tandoori Achari Cottage Cheese (paneer) Tikka: This was the best dish on the menu! The paneer was perfectly cooked, and the flavors of tikka masala and pickles were amazing. I'll definitely be back to try more of their modern Indian dishes. We were sitting outside this time, so we didn't get to experience their interactive dining experience, but we'll be back for that too!

Visited this eatery after a couple of years as we were visiting friends in the neighborhood and we were pleasantly surprised by the upgrade -- seems like this has been taken over by new management and certainly by a new chef. The menu is revamped and there was a certain freshness and modernness in each of the new dishes. The ambience is bistro-like and the service was alert and attentive; and notwithstanding a full house, and a demanding table, they stayed on top of things all through the night. The recommendations were sincere and well informed and amongst them was the mushroom shami/galouti kebab - impressive in its execution! Couple of other apps that stood out was a deliciously tender and moist chicken tikka and well marinated and perfectly cooked lamb chops. And if you love subtle flavors and not overpowering Indian spices the salmon tikkas were fantastic! The kale chaat now commonly available at seemingly every Indian restaurant was elevated by some freshly fried kale and uniquely flavorful chutneys. For dinner what stood out was the goat curry that had some great pieces of goat in a well-balanced spicy sauce and the eggplant in a salad. But, in general the naans, dal and everything else that gets ordered at an Indian restaurant were above par. And, if you need additional context, a notch above the Edison staples like Moghul and Bombay blue. BYOB and we will be back to try the rest of the menu.

I was excited to give this modern Indian restaurant a try. When I arrived I found parking not too far. I walked in and was greeted. Akil, our server, walked my friend and I to our seats. The restaurant was so nicely decorated! It is BYOB fyi. Akil was super kind, and he started us with appetizers. I got the stuffed tikka chicken bao bun, and my friends got the crispy cauliflower. Both were absolutely delicious! The bao was super soft. We also had octopus, and it was delicious! Next were our meals, I got the shrimp alleppay and my friend got the salmon. The plates looked delicious when it came out. They both were excellent, and the flavors were on point! For dessert, we got the chef's choice of two dishes, and both were very tasty! We absolutely had an incredible experience and I would definitely return!

Paneer (cottage cheese) Tikka Masala - wish there was a few more paneer, the sauce was on POINT with a little tang

Spice Bazaar is not just dinner, it's an experience. They take classic dishes from traditional Indian cuisine and twist them to be more modern, with some less-traditional ingredients and gorgeous plating techniques. The ambience is a bit dark and very sexy, a great date-night destination. The service was friendly, and they made accommodations for us on a certain menu item. We also mentioned on our reservation on Open Table that we were coming to celebrate our friend's birthday and they surprised us with Gulab Jamun and a sparkler candle. It wasn't cheesy with a song and dance, thankfully, and my friend who loves all things instagram worthy was thrilled with the surprise and the beautiful candle.

On a recent visit to New Jersey, several family members told us to try this restaurant and we drove for over 30 minutes (which in NJ could only be 4 miles) for lunch on a Sunday. Parking is street only but easy to find and the restaurant wasn't crowded when we arrived. Very friendly staff and chefs. Nice décor We ordered the spinach chat for appetizer which was delicious. For main course we really wanted the mutton curry, tadka dal, lacha and naan and soft drinks. Food was very good and would highly recommend.

This place is amazing and best part is BYOB. Great upscale Indian food with tremendous flavor - you'll not be disappointed. I love the service and the ambiance of this place. I been here twice and I have nothing but good things to write about this spot. Come try it because the pictures describe the food exactly. Keep up the great work.

I really like this place! I came for a business dinner and had a fantastic experience. We were able to snag a last minute reservation during the week and the atmosphere is very nice. Dim lighting (feels appropriate for a date but also casual enough for a family). Wow, the food is sensational! Everything was amazing: gluten free naan, cauliflower, chickpea masala, chicken tikka masala, and butter chicken were all flavorful (and you can determine your spice level)! So good, I even went back the next day. It is a bit of a higher price, but it's completely worth it!

Malai Kofta Dumpling in Saffron Sauce
    Tulshi P.

Excellent Indian food and impeccable service. I tried the fig naan and eggplant dip which I had heard great things about, but I was somewhat disappointed. The fig naan was not soft, and it was cold. However, the eggplant dip was delicious - it was spicy and overall worth it even if the naan accompaniment wasn't the best. We also ordered the malai kofta in saffron sauce and paneer makhani - both were delicious but I preferred the malai kofta entree more. It had a slight hint of saffron with spice and tasted very authentic. The paneer makhani had more of a tomato bisque soup flavor. I do recommend making reservations here on weekends, because it gets packed and it's difficult to find a table.

Ask the Community - Spice Bazaar - Modern Indian Dining

The info says Dogs are allowed. Is it just service animals?

I am not sure the exact answer. But it's fairly dark with semi tight spaces. I wouldn't advise having a dog here as you wouldn't want them to get stepped on or kicked.

    Do you serve halal meat?

Some of the dishes are halal. Ask your server.

    Is this halal?

    Yes!

    Is it BYOB?

    Yes

Is the business taking reservations for outdoor dining during NJ Stage 2 reopening?

No, we are doing first come first serve due to limited seating. However you can also order spice bazaar and sit outside at our lavash location and vice versa. Thanks!

Is the lunch special available on weekends?

    Only weekdays

They did not disappoint! My son ordered baby goat curry & enjoyed every bite! We also ordered Bandar Butter Chicken and Tandoori Pomfret. The butter chicken was better than I expected, I'm not usually a fan, but this was excellent! Flavorful and not overly creamy. My favorite dish of the night was the Tandoori Pomfret, it was divine! Cooked to perfection and a decadent curry base. The staff was incredibly helpful. We worked with the Manager, Pankaj, who went over the entire menu and helped us decide on a safe dish for my son. He then confirmed our choice with the kitchen before placing the order. Pankaj checked on us multiple times to ensure we were enjoying our dinner, the extra care was greatly appreciated. Thank you Four Monkeys for a delicious, safe dining experience! We can't wait to return & we're already planning our visit to your sister restaurant, Dhamaal, in Montclair. Thank you!

Flavor bomb burrata was amazing - on top of a naan, tomatoes and green garlic chimichurri with a fresh burrata and what was like a very sweet spicy honey on top - delicious. Sadly they were out of the truffle chicken masala. We opted for the butter chicken - also delicious and rich. Palak paneer - always nice to see the spinach version. Very good. Both were great with the garlic and butter naans... sopped up with the naan or rice, delicious. The 'Rarha' Lamb Chops were ok, overcooked until the bone crumbled so a bit hard to pick up, cutting it was a bit tough, and the mustard-tumeric potatoes were very good but heavy. BYOB. Menu completely online and somewhat hard to see -- bring a big phone. Street or muni lot parking. Servers were pleasant but often busy cleaning up - a bit of dropping things all night - customers knocked over their lights, dishes fell, glasses broke - I felt like it was a Jewish wedding with all the wares falling on the floor mid-way through dinner. Portions are solid and they also gave to-go bags for the leftover naan and boxes for the leftover dishes.
