If I could rate this place no stars I would the only thing that was good about it was the sweet older ladies and their great customer service. The kitchen staff was younger and got our orders completely wrong. I ordered a bbq sandwich and it came with no bbq sauce at all. My husband ordered a chipotle chicken avocado melt and it came without the sauce as well. His salad was dry too so we went and asked the cashier for extra sauces and watched her ask the kitchen staff for them. With an exasperated eye roll and rude comment to the cashier the MANAGER reluctantly gave her about a teaspoon of sauce in a container. Very disappointed with this place. When I first saw the star level for this location I was pretty surprised as Panera's tend to be the consistant from place to place but an average of 2 is not so hot. After our first visit there, to some extent I understand the low scores for the service. It takes longer here than other locations for the food to come out (20 min for a salad, soup, and sandwich), the Mediterranean chicken salad from the secret menu was made incorrectly, and the cookies that come with the meals were cold and hard. For these reasons, I understand the 2 stars. But I give it 3 because the place is clean, has enough parking, the large outdoor patio with heaters is awesome (I'll be back for this reason alone), and the other items ordered were all as promised. We completely agree that the ridiculously small glasses for water are absurd, they almost shouldn't bother, and yes you do feel like a criminal for wanting water only. If they had decent diet soda choices I'd purchase a glass instead. Lastly, our stops at Panera's in other states have proven to yield some excellent bakery items, but this one is more like the Paradise side where it's mostly prepared food and a little bit of bakery, and that is disappointing. read more

Damnit that was good. Like, intoxicating kind of good. Got their new Chinese Citrus Chicken Salad and mac & cheese. I haven't been to Panera in awhile and they still have a pick two option - sort of. It used to be that you could buy two things for a set price, or upgrade to two premium things for a bit more. Now you can get two things (1/2 a salad or sandwich or soup), but the prices are all different. So, to find out what it was going to cost me for different things, the cashier had to ring everything up to find out. (I was just curious because how is that any kind of "pick two"? Isn't that just me ordering stuff off the menu??) Cashier recommended the mac & cheese. It was excellent. I picked what sounded like a good salad and it was INSANELY GOOD. There were virtually no staff in the dining area. My food was brought to me by a young guy, who was on top of everything and extremely polite - got me extra napkins and a glass of water, rather than just pointing me towards the cups. He seemed to be handling the entire dining area (running food, and all clean-up) himself. read more

We ordered 2 soups, 1 salad and one sandwich and 2 sides of baguettes on pick- up. We got flatware for one.The salad was pure crap! The baguettes were omitted completely. The young man at the pick/up window wrote the order correctly on the ticket. The preparer did not follow the order. I realize during this pandemic it's difficult to hire people, but the fact remains that Panera should be watching those they do hire and they certainly shouldn't be serving sub-standard food at any time! read more

Unfortunately, during these times it is hard to choose where to spend your dollars. It's hard out there for everyone right now. But this was my first and last time I will spend money here. Not only was expensive, but the soup was ice cold. The sandwiches had hardly any meat on them and the bread was hard. Wow.. Love hate relationship.. I mean I practically lived in paneras in college and professional school. I haven't had any issues with service and my food arrived quickly....Unlike other reviews I had a couple issues with the bagels... Their first few weeks open..For example one morning in the drive through they told me they were out of them at 6:40 am... Interesting since they open at 6. So I said ok... Bye... But they really should have offered like a rain check...anyway My next attempt at getting a bagel was pretty disappointing.. It was very doughy on the inside like almost as though it was undercooked but it looked ok on the outside..it was sticking to my teeth... Very strange. I called to ask them about if anyone else thought this and I suggested maybe if it was something with the altitude because interestingly enough I felt the cookies that week were also under-done compared to the paradise locations..(though i liked that in the cookie... Not in the bagel). The manager did refund my purchase over the phone and apologized which was nice and I wasn't expecting that really.. I just wanted them to get the recipe right so I can order more bagels as I love their veggie and their hazelnut cream cheeses. Also mad I can't use a Panera gift card there yet or use the "my Panera" card as I missed out on my "free birthday pastry" which that card gets me...and I can't use my gift cards until 90 days after they have been opened apparently...sad as my mom in the Midwest found out I had a Panera near my work so she bought be giftcards for my bday and I can't use them read more

I was finally able to try this place out when it didn't seem as if every parking space was full. I have eaten at many Panera Bread locations (before they came to NM) and so the menu and decor at this place is very familiar. There are lots of choices - sandwiches, soups, salads, panini's & pasta before you even look at the bakery options. Today I ordered one of their pastas (pesto) and a cup of bistro onion soup (used to be called french onion soup). It took quite a while for our food to show up - I think almost 20mins which is unusual at most other locations. The pasta was overcooked (Scott Conant would not be impressed), but the pesto tasted very fresh & vibrant. The soup was good, perhaps they had put too much cheese in it, but the flavor was good. I think that the price of my pasta & soup (which also comes with a chocolate chip cookie) was fair at $9.99 I just left there with a "meh" feeling about what I had eaten - the place was heaving and so I don't think a two star review is going to harm their business, but I won't rush back. read more

So I went to Panera two days in a row and got the same sandwich (judge me), ANYWAYS, I went to 2 different locations, this one and the one on Holly. I was closer to this one today so I gave it a shot, plus it's a drive thru which was a plus. The sandwich I got at the Holly location, WAS AMAZEBALLS. It seriously was the best sandwich I've ever had. Anyways, today's same sandwich, SUCKED. There was one pepper and about 1/16ths of the meat I got yesterday. The "steak" they gave was, I don't even have words, so I took pictures. So disappointing, gave me the wrong side, just horrible. Go to the one on Holly!!!! I don't come here that often but when I do, the food is always good and the customer service is pleasant (you know I am a sucker for a proper greeting, a "I'll be right with you", etc.) Yesterday I ordered a half of the roasted turkey, apple & cheddar sandwich and it was delicious! I also got a side of mac & cheese because it sounded tasty at the time (and it was!). I also got a small salad but didn't end up eating it after all so I gave it away. Everything was really good and now that I am writing this review I am actually hungry and debating on whether or not I want to hit the Panera drive thru for some broccoli and cheddar soup... mmm. The only improvement I would make is to be cautious and what is discussed when you are in the back making the sandwiches. Customers can hear you when waiting for orders and it can get pretty loud from what I've heard. Other than that, I intend on coming back. read more

Nice relaxed place. Noticed that the elderly demographic seems to be the pervasive population here in Rio Rancho. And that holds true with this particular Panera. From the workers to the customers. So very relaxing and comfortable environment. Ordered the French Onion Soup and the Cuban Sandwich Panini from the Order 2 Menu. It actually paired up together rather well, like some angelic matriarch that presided over Havana and Paris had created an inseparable bicultural dish of sandwich and soup and miracled it unto Earth. And luckily, I was the one to encounter it here in Rio Rancho. Great service, good food, and got the pumpkin sugar cookie and it was actually really good. read more

On my two recent visits for lunch here, I was disappointed to see that the baguette served with meals is not the same as they sell - and that was served with meals. The comparison between the two is not even close. For a bread company to substitute the bread served makes no sense. I have always thought their baguette was superior to others, best texture and taste. My family won't be eating here without return of the signature baguette, it makes the meal. I could still buy the original Panera baguette, in their bakery but didn't I also buy it with my meal? They are cutting corners on food and that doesn't sit well with my opinion of the business. They also discontinued $.99 baked good with a meal that is now a cookie option. Those things must have been marketing schemes that ran their course. Disappointing and my visits will be few if any. read more

The quality of the food is on par with any other Panera Bread. The only difference between this Panera bread and others would be the selection on the menu. This location doesn't have the bread or apple choice as a side. You can't use the Panera Bread reward card and things such as the cobblestone. When menu is the same as every other Panera and if the food stays as delicious as it was to today I will be happy to give them 5 stars. read more

Very disappointed with the service at Panera today. The cashier was extremely rude through our entire interaction. She started out by cutting my husband off as he was trying to order then continued to have a snarky rude attitude throughout. I didn't even realize there was a rude way to tell me where the water cups are but somehow she accomplished doing that rudely as well. Unless they plan on alienating all of their customers I would recommend that they hire a new cashier that actually understands customer service and who actually wants to be there doing their job, she acted as if it was a chore to talk to us, nope, it's your job, and it's not that hard to simply be kind to people, or at the very least neutral. Most likely won't be returning, which is a shame because I work right down the road and used to be a regular customer. read more

I was pretty surprised that this Panera had gotten such bad reviews. I work close by so I've been here 5 or 6 times since it opened a couple months ago. I've found the food consistently good and up to what I was expecting. I really appreciate having a place to get pretty good food close by and not too expensive. And I've actually really been impressed by the staff; one staff member even recognized me the second or third time I came there and said welcome back and asked me how I was liking the store... They have a drive-thru, which has been really fast for me, and it's also clean and comfortable inside. read more

They literally harass you to finish up your meal quickly and get out. Three times, three different waiters came and asked me if they could take my plate away which still had food! And two other waiters came and asked how everything was- all within twenty minutes ! Leave your customers alone in peace already!!! read more

I'm reviewing this Panera because there is no post for the one on Coors. This was my first time eating there I ordered a turkey avocado BLT on ciabatta bread with extra mayo. I heard the person who served it to me as to cook if he put on extra mayonnaise. He said yes and handed her the sandwich. He completely left out the mail there was no bacon in one tiny piece of avocado for a $9 sandwich there wasn't more than $0.45 worth of food on it. Do not eat at Panera their managers are sitting in their office and not watching their staff. read more

Unprofessional employees. Our cashier had her earbud in while she was helping us and had to turn her music down multiple times in order to hear me but still left it in. When I asked what was on a sandwich, she looked it up but couldn't pronounce something so she said "basically tomatoes". The food was also terrible. The soup tasted like it had been microwaved from a can, and my husband's sandwich had a tiny pile of cheese and tomato in the center of a giant piece of bread. Went for the first time last night, 4/7/13, funny another poster was there the same day and had poor service too.. The tables were dirty, the floor was filthy, and the staff went to wipe the tables down using their bare hands! The food is overpriced for what you get, I spent $10 on half a crappy turkey sandwich with no flavor i could have made at home, soup that tasted like it came from a mix, and a cookie and drink. They ran out of tea and would not make more after I asked twice. Other tables were getting their orders mixed up or the wrong food delivered. The only good thing i had was the cookie. I will think twice before going back again. There are far better places to spend my money on. read more

This is regarding our visit April 7,2013. My husband and I love Panera we often visit the one up on Holly, so we were excited to see one open closer to our side of town. This one is still new so I am willing to come back and try again, but to be honest if I wasn't a loyal customer I probably would never come back. It took over 30 min to get our food, my soup and pasta were warmish ad they forgot our cookies. We asked two different servers for them and when we finally got them they were terrible. Bitter and not up to panera standard at all. I think I will wait a few weeks so they can work out the kinks and for the newness to wear off before coming back. read more

This is the only panera I've ever been too and I'm not too impressed. Service is good and the facilities are clean but it's always FREEZING and they always seem to be out of food. The atmosphere is nice and it's good for families but I personally think they're over priced for what you're getting. I would go to flying star before I went here. read more

This location has never, NEVER, gotten an order right. Everything is thrown together, sandwiches are made instead of salads, and they always switch what sandwich they make from what you order. The staff is totally unprofessional as well. Listening to their jokes about customers, cursing at orders coming in, and throwing food as they make it behind the pick up counter. Giving two stars because I have tried coming on multiple accounts, and have yet to have one of my orders come back correctly. Even a simple task as switching to chips when asked if I want chips or bread is done incorrectly. Having been to "Paradise Bakery" on Paseo 3 times and loving it, I was excited to try this one much closer to home! BLEH!! WTF?? My boyfriend and I went today 5/11/13 around noon. After standing in line about 5 min to order, the young and clueless girl had to leave us after every, and I do mean EVERY item requested to see if it was still available. (Oatmeal, Hibiscus tea, cinnamon roll.) She handed us our empty cups and hard crunchy cinnamon roll and we set out to find a table. The back of the restaurant smelled like homeless men had spent the night and the rest of the itty bitty tables were dirty. After finally finding one, we sat down to our cinnamon roll. I was shocked that it was hard and cold so darling BF went to ask if it could be heated up.... and was shown the do-it-yourself microwave. He said "I didn't realize the food was self service here too." It was good once warmed. We leisurely ate our cinnamon roll and it had been 25 minutes and the oatmeal still hadn't arrived. 25 minutes for OATMEAL???? REALLY?? Jeez! The oatmeal was just that, Oatmeal. NOT with granola, cinnamon, sugar and cream, as the menu indicated it would be. It had about 5 blueberries and was so dry it was inedible without some sort of liquid added. I was too dismayed to go fight it, so I added skim milk from the self serve station (there was no cream!) and a packet of sugar. After I "fixed" it, it was good, but not 5 dollars and 30 minutes good. I'd say about 2 dollars and 5 minutes good. Flying star has been and will continue to be my all time favorite restaurant. Good Friday night, we went to order fresh bread for Easter. Sunday 7:30AM we arrived to get the bread which was already set aside. It was Saturday's bread. When we complained we were given attitude. There was trash on the floors throughout the dining area. Many tables were coveted in left overs. The manager was hanging around but not doing much. The girl at the cash register was just leaning on it and I finally had to say something to get attention . Then in the middle of ordering she drifted off and started chatting with another employee who was texting. This Panera SUCKS.
